Posted in doom metal, doom metal music, gothic, gothic metal, gothic rock, Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on November 15, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

Italy’s gothic doom stalwarts THE FORESHADOWING have just released a live video for “Our Nightmares Call”, a song from the band’s latest album New Wave Order.

The video was shot by Underroom Studios at the 2025 edition of Frantic Fest in Francavilla al Mare, Italy.

Click here for the live video: https://youtu.be/lzFSnFNCnWY

The mood is dark to melancholic, but also majestic and epic. Hailing from Rome (Italy), THE FORESHADOWING are something like the musical equivalent of the city they come from. Founded in 2005, the group can look back on a successful and eventful history. Listeners of gothic, doom and dark metal are very familiar with the quartet’s work.

THE FORESHADOWING gained popularity in the international scene with four acclaimed albums released between 2007 and 2016: Days of Nothing (2007), Oionos (2010), Second World (2012) and Seven Heads, Ten Horns (2016) and through touring with SWALLOW THE SUN, SATURNUS, MARDUK, MOONSPELL, ANTIMATTER and IN THE WOODS.

In 2023, THE FORESHADOWING ended a forced break of several years with the EP Forsaken Songs and a European tour with Saturnus and In The Woods. Now, New Wave Order is the group’s fifth full length album and their debut on LIFEFORCE RECORDS. The formation from Rome emphasizes its strengths on the album and offers cinematic tracks of dark music that is nevertheless immensely catchy and mood-enhancing.

THE FORESHADOWING NEW WAVE ORDER OUT NOW

While listening to New Wave Order, you are whisked away into a world full of secrets and allusions. The path is THE FORESHADOWING’s goal, which manifests itself in all-encompassing, organically developed musicality. The Italians are outstanding songwriters who create captivating arcs of suspense and also keep an eye on the overarching strands. Nothing else can be expected from this eternal band.

Twenty years ago, The 69 Eyes released what can be considered their biggest song to date: “Lost Boys.” This song was inspired by the 1987 vampire film classic: The Lost Boys. As stated by Cleopatra Records, “Lost Boys has become the band’s undisputed anthem, topping 20 million streams.” 💀

BLOOD VULTURE, a vampiric goth rock band created by Jordan Olds (2 Minutes To Late Night), has revealed a surreal new video for his single “Burn For It” (Feat. Brian Fair), starring SLEIGH BELLS’ vocalist Alexis Krauss.

Directed by Olds, the video pays tribute to 1981’s cult favorite psychological horror film Possession, and painstakingly recreates demonic scenes from the movie.

Commenting on the videoOlds states

The video is a homage to one of my favorite movies, Possession (1981). Almost every shot in the video is a recreation of a scene from the movie paced to the music. For decades, it was so difficult to actually watch the movie. It was banned in the US when it originally came out and then it wasn’t allowed on streaming for a long time. Now thanks to Kino Lorber and Metrograph, there’s tons of screenings and streaming services (including the free ones from the library) showing the full version.”

“I consider it to be one of the great masterpieces in alternative cinema with two of the best on screen performances of all time and my favorite camera work ever. This whole idea was basically a Trojan horse to get people excited about that movie again. I also couldn’t be more grateful to my friend Alexis Krauss for trusting me with this idea and giving so much time and energy to this. It takes a special kind of artist and a special kind of talent to find a way to be fully compelling for 5 entire minutes by themselves and Alexis is that kind of special.”

The new video for “Burn For It” is the latest from the insidious mind of Olds, and featured on his project BLOOD VULTURE’s debut album, Die Close, which is out now via Pure Noise Records. The hypnotic short follows previously released videos for “Die Close,” “Grey Mourning” (feat. Jade Puget of AFI) and “A Dream About Starving To Death.”

Luring listeners in with a mesmerizing melding of gothic romanticism, lush metallic vibes and brutal reckoning, BLOOD VULTURE’s initial offering Die Close features 10 haunting tracks perfect for the season at hand.

The band commented“When Death finally frees you from the pain of suffering, what worse Hell to awake to than a rebirth into the same cycle? This is the idea behind the content of ‘Forever Remain’. A track that well defines the concept of the new album ‘The Fate Of All Life’. One of the last tracks written for the album, it is particularly intense and features an outro of an incredibly mournful violin section that was written and performed by Hayley Anderson from Aquilus and Suldusk. The video was filmed in Lithuania by an amazing team that truly brought to life (and death) the vision.”

The new single is also now available to listen to via all major streaming services.

“Forever Remain” follows the release of the single “Failure to Thrive” and is the second single from the band’s upcoming debut album set for release on 17 October via These Hands Melt

The Fate Of All Life sees the band weave together industrial black metal, goth and darkwave to create a sound that is both haunting and cathartic. The album is a monument to the reality of the human condition, exploring themes of cyclical suffering and death. IRREPARABLE has expertly laid the foundations of a personal apocalypse, which is reflected in their poignant quote: “We rise to the sky from the sea, only to come pouring down”.

The new album will be available as a limited edition CD Digipack and a limited Vinyl LP (150 copies) in red transparent, as well as on all major digital platforms. Pre-order here: https://irreparable2019.bandcamp.com/album/the-fate-of-all-life

The band will celebrate the release of The Fate Of All Life at The Leadbeater, Richmond, VIC (Australia) with Burden Man, The Nihilistic Front and Nighteyes on November 29th.

CD AND MAGENTA + WHITE MARBLE VINYL EDITIONS SET FOR RELEASE ON PEACEVILLE ON 18th JULY 2025

PRE-ORDER LOST PARADISE

Paradise Lost formed in Halifax, West Yorkshire in 1988 and are known for being the founders of the Gothic Death/Doom Metal genre; a style fully brought into existence with their genre-defining second album, the highly influential Gothic.

Having released 2 albums, including Gothic for the UK’s Peaceville Records and later helping to establish Peaceville as home to the finest trio of UK doom bands (alongside My Dying Bride and Anathema), Paradise Lost then signed with fellow UK label, Music For Nations which eventually led to the band breaking through to mainstream rock and metal audiences as their style evolved, becoming one of the UK’s most essential metal exports around the globe in the process.

Lost Paradise was the band’s debut album, released in 1990 and one of the early highlights in the formative years of Peaceville. Featuring more death metal influences, Paradise Lost created a dark and atmospheric style of death metal as opposed to one based on speed, with the sombre guitar leads of Gregor Mackintosh permeating through the compositions.

LOST PARADISE WILL BE RELEASED ON 18TH JULY, BOTH EDITIONS INCLUDE REMASTERED AUDIO COURTESY OF JAIME GOMEZ AT ORGONE STUDIOS. PRE-ORDER HERE.

Lost Paradise was recorded at the famous Academy Studios (My Dying Bride, Anathema, Cradle of Filth) in Yorkshire, England, and stands as an undeniable classic of UK death/doom metal.

Gothic sludge night stalker, BLOOD VULTURE, created by Jordan Olds (2 Minutes To Late Night), has revealed the 2nd single, “Grey Mourning” (Featuring Jade Puget of AFI), from the upcoming debut album, Die Close, that will be release June 27th via Pure Noise Records.

Commenting on the song, Olds states:

“When I was in middle school, AFI was my gateway to punk, hardcore, and goth. Jade Puget specifically was probably the biggest influence on my guitar playing and songwriting in that very formative time in my life. He’s such a melodic and unique player, and “Grey Mourning” is just a barrage of chromatic death metal riffs, so I thought it would be a really fun juxtaposition to set him loose in that kind of space and see what he came up with. I was honored that he agreed to do it, and his solo is so cool and unpredictable. It was exactly what I wanted.

In my freshman year of highschool, I snagged a black Les Paul studio because I saw him playing one in the Leaving Song Pt. II video and that’s actually the same guitar that I used to mimic his solo for the video. So this whole thing has been a wild full circle moment for me. Oh yeah, and the song is about vampires.

The the impending debut Die CloseBLOOD VULTURE lures listeners in with a mesmerizing melding of gothic romanticism, lush metallic vibes and brutal reckoning. The record features luminary guests Jade Puget (AFI), Kristin Hayter (Lingua Ignota) and Brian Fair (Shadows Fall).

DEATH CULT – Announce Two Intimate U.S. Shows Ahead Of Cruel World Festival Appearance

Posted in gothic metal, gothic rock, Hard Rock, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on May 2, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

May 2, 2025 – Legendary post-punk outfit Death Cult have slated two intimate club shows later this month: May 14 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and May 16 at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.

Death Cult has performed in the U.S. only once before, and only a handful of times in Europe, making these appearances exceptionally rare. The dates come as Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy prepare for their inaugural outing at Cruel World Festival on May 17.

Tickets are on-sale now: https://thecult.us/official/.

Southern Death Cult formed in 1981, releasing their self-titled debut posthumously in 1983. Death Cult followed that same year, forming a crucial bridge between the raw punk Astbury and Duffy cut their teeth on and the driving, psychedelia-laced rock that would follow. The band released two 12-inches that same year, one being the Death Cult EP, which were later combined and released as a CD. Death Cult is a vital transmission from the generation of Shamanic post-punk gothic futurists.

In 1984, Death Cult evolved into The Cult, releasing Dreamtime that same year and going on to release 11 full-length albums, earning numerous gold and platinum certifications worldwide.

CREMATORY – Releases Music Video For Title Track Of Upcoming New Studio Album: Destination

In the more than three decades of their existence, CREMATORY have seen trends come and go, while always staying true to their trademarks, they belong to one of Germany’s most distinctive gothic metal pioneers to date. Following their latest studio offering, Inglorious Darkness (2022), now, CREMATORY returns with a brand new single entitled “Destination”, the title track of the band’s forthcoming album that is slated for a release on May 2nd via ROAR!

It’s a really tough song, but at the same time it has a catchy chorus that drills itself straight into the ear canal and won’t let go,” the band comments“This song will also be the opener on the tour in May for the Destination album. A big punch in the face with a great chorus!”

“Destination” is now streaming on all digital services at: https://crematory.rpm.link/destinsinglePR

Markus Jüllich – Drums, Programming

With their 17th studio album, CREMATORY promises to reach new and even higher levels than ever before! Literally combining all the strengths and phases of the gothic metal pioneers, going back to their melodic death metal roots in places, diving deep into the gothic realm again but also surprising listeners, “Destination” will mark a triumphant return to the past combined with the strengths of the present.

The new studio album Destination is an ingenious mix of the 90s gothic metal times like Illusions, combined with hard melodic death metal hymns like “Act Seven” and modern electronic songs with German lyrics in the style of Revolution. More is not possible“, drummer Markus Jüllich recently said and added: ”With Destination the new standard of the modern melodic gothic metal era is determined! The previous album Inglorious Darkness was the start of Felix singing all the songs on his own again and now we’ve managed a perfect precision landing with Destination!”

With many more album details to be unveiled in the weeks ahead, one thing is already clear: CREMATORY are highly motivated, are upping the ante and definitely still have a lot to say even after 34 years of a successful band history!

Beasto Blanco “LOWLANDS” Single and Video Review – by Tanis Enos

Posted in alternative metal, alternative metal bands, alternative metal music, gothic metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, music videos with tags , , , , , , on May 3, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

Beasto Blanco has produced yet another mind blowing single following the release of “Run for Your Life” in February. Fans were treated to a listening party with members of the band on Bandcamp prior to the official release, and the the new single was immediately met with an outpour of love and excitement for the video.

“LOWLANDS” features Calico Cooper at the forefront of vocals this time, with Chuck Garric’s low raspy voice complimenting her perfectly throughout the song. The chorus alone shows not only the power behind Cooper’s voice as she belts out “Home” but gives you a beautiful introduction to her range. A mix between clean and distorted vocals adds to the anger behind the song.

“LOWLANDS” is the auditory representation of the Machine Girl. The song includes strong guitar parts with a war like drum beat keeping time and the Beasto Blanco groove that makes you feel like you are indestructible. While chatting with fans in the Bandcamp party, Cooper stated “I wrote the lyrics when I was a liiiiiittle mad lol” Everyone can always use a song to angrily scream in their car on the way to work.

Cooper also got to show off her high level of creativity and rage in a visual way as she not only starred in but directed the music video. The video is basically split in two, Cooper singing in the rain with dark blue lighting and the story being told within tints of red, yellow and orange. Cooper mentioned to fans on Bandcamp that “I nearly drowned,” and whether she’s serious or joking the amount of rain and splashing added just what was needed to the fury and passion behind the song and made Cooper look terrifyingly beautiful as she sang it. It all seemed to flow very naturally from her. As for the story scenes, there is no better vampire to use than Anthony Montemarano, because what woman wouldn’t get drawn in by that smirk?

The role Montemarano plays is so key to visually depicting not letting love basically blind you from the bad. The very end of the video as Cooper is walking slowly toward the camera with her finger to her lips, ties the whole vibe of I made you and I can take you down cause you don’t control me.

Overall, Beasto Blanco knocked this one out of the park yet again. The band is set to tour Europe with The Dead Daisies in November of this year. The band will also be playing a few of their dates in Europe in late July, early August that include Wacken Open Air 2024 on August 3rd. Keep an eye on Beasto Blanco social media accounts for tour updates, behind the scenes of the music videos, and personal commentary from the members. – Tanis Enos

Death of Darkness USA Tour – The 69 Eyes, Budderside and The Bites At The Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia, April 11th | Review and Concert Photos

Posted in concerts, death metal music ep's, gothic metal, gothic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , , on April 20, 2024 by Metal Odyssey

The Helsinki Vampires took the United States by the neck on their most recent tour, Death of Darkness. The 69 Eyes sunk their fangs into Leesburg Virginia on April 11th at the Tally Ho Theater, but they were not alone. Joining them were Budderside and The Bites and they all came with a thirst for blood and Rock N Roll.

Budderside took the stage first to the Goosebumps theme song that led into “Careless Whisper” which by the way even the gothiest of people will cheer for. They continued the spooky theme by opening the show with “Ghostlighting” and immediately had the crowd’s attention.

Lead singer Patrick Stone has the perfect combination of high pitch vocals and grungy rasp that makes Budderside sound so unique. Along with strong piercing vocals, Stone has a stage presence that is not only commanding and passionate but also comforting. It took no time for Stone to make his way off the stage and down to the barricade to really connect with fans. This literal in your face experience did nothing but hype the crowd up even more. By the last song Stone had escaped the barricade and truly connected with fans by running into the middle of the crowd and head-banging along with them.

Playing along side Stone is one of the finest young guitarist to join the rock and metal scene. Sam Koltun, better known as Sam Bam, truly knows his way around a guitar. However, it’s not just Koltun shredding for Budderside. Logan Nikolic took command of stage right in his own incredible style.

Both put their whole bodies into playing and you can both see and hear how much heart they put into their playing.

Towards the end of their set Stone began to encourage new and old fans to sing along with him to “Never Worth It.”Even those who didn’t know the lyrics picked up on instructions and “Never Worth It” became the loudest sung song of their set.

For the most part Budderside’s set stayed on the heavier side of things musically, only slowing down for “Joker,”a very sentimental song for Stone. Over all, Budderside’s lyrics are very relatable no matter how you interpret them. Their set made you feel every emotion.

As the band left the stage it was obvious they had gained quite a few excited new fans. They may have gone first but there is no way their set wasn’t permanently burned into everyone’s heart and soul.

The Bites took the stage next. Their music style is much lighter than Budderside, staying closer to their 80s glam metal side, but they did not hold back in the slightest.

Lead singer Jordan Tyler is the equivalent of this generations David Lee Roth. From running all over the stage and landing multiple high kicks, to a voice and face that drives the ladies wild. It’s like someone kept him in a cage and he was released on stage to let everything out. His goofy side also shown through during their cover of “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath when he changed “Just like witches at black masses” to “I love goth girls with fat asses”.

While hanging out with fans after the show, Tyler jokingly stated that they definitely weren’t having fun on stage. How do we know that’s a joke? Cause it’s blatantly obvious that every second they are on stage they are having the time of their lives doing what they love.

The crisp ear piercing sounds of Jono Richer‘s guitar is a very big part of what fueled the fans. With just as much energy as Tyler, Richer let the sleaze run from his fingers.

Just watching bass player Zack Currier, it’s safe to say if given the opportunity he would leave the stage to rock with the crowd. His movements were perfectly aligned with every pick of the bass.

Along with Currier, drummer Mark Hylander kept an exceptionally tight rhythm. Even behind the kit, his loud strikes against the drum heads reached fans and his talent elevated the band’s sound even more.

A long line awaited the band after their set as fans wanted their own autographed copy of 2023’s album Squeeze

As the last of the day’s light disappeared, the creatures of the night came out to play literally. The 69 Eyes joined the party and left everything they had on stage. From the first note to the last song hands were in the air and fans were screaming at the top of their lungs.

The band took the stage to Elvis’s “Heartbreak Hotel,” a song that for those who aren’t familiar with the band will make so much sense later on in the show.

Opening the show with “Devils” was a perfect way to introduce the new fans in the crowd to the overall vibe of the rest of the night, and had the OG fans even more excited than before. By the third song everyone was pushed up as close to the barricade as possible reaching for the band.

Lead singer Jyrki is best described as Vampire Elvis, with a deep sultry voice and hips that would give The King himself a run for his money. The low gothic tones of his voice mixed with the classic horror rock n roll sound of the band makes it feel like you’re at sexy Halloween dance party.

Drummers are known to be wild and Jussi is no exception. Arms like an octopus and standing up on his drums like a monkey climbing a tree. He’s loud, impactful and adds the thunder to the beautiful storm that is The 69 Eyes. Paired with Jussi on bass is Archzie, who kept deep time and perfect low end all night.

The 69 eyes have two creatures producing the beautiful banshee screams and low ghostly moans on the guitar. Pasi Moilanen on stage left and Timo-Timo on stage right. Just like Archzie and Jussi, the two are a match made in heaven (or hell).

Jyrki fed off the crowds reaction all night, even holding the mic stand out over the pit and into the audience to encourage them to sing along louder which wasn’t a problem in the first place. Jyrki introduced Dance D’Amour by stating he had some moves to show us. As “Dance with me into Night” left his lips everyone was truly dancing. Not headbanging, not nodding along but dancing and swaying like they were in a calm trance.

The band left the stage for the encore and a member of their team came out and got the whole place chanting 69 as the band walked back out on stage. Jyrki placed a rose on the drum set and the madness continued. The most hype came when they began to play “Lost Boys”. No one wanted the show to end and there were nothing but smiles as the band said their final goodbyes.

The Death of Darkness tour featured 3 different styles of rock, yet they all blended so well together. The most important thing is that not once throughout the night did any one look bored or did any band sound bad. I don’t think anyone would be angry if these 3 bands toured together again next year. – Tanis Enos

THE 69 EYES earned platinum status with the albums Blessed Be (2000) and Paris Kills (2022) and not only reached #1 of the single and album charts in their home country of Finland, but also plunged the world into a sinful cosmos of love, death, and melancholy, while outliving any other band emerging from the goth hype of the early 2000s. By developing their sound further into sleaze rock on Devils (2004) and Angels (2007) and not shying away from pitch black Elvis allusions in singer Jyrki 69’s dark voice and unique onstage dance moves, the band has established a worldwide following. Over the course of more than three decades, the band has toured relentlessly throughout Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and released twelve full-length studio albums.

Sprawling across ten lavishly dark, effortlessly cool tracks, THE 69 EYES‘ Death Of Darkness is one of their most flawless and consistent offerings bearing a title that’s of course both stylish and symbolic, much like the music they create. 2023 is a far cry from the early days of the new millennium when gothic rock bands emerged from every graveyard and Finnish vampires stormed the charts around the world. However, the spirit of a world-class record like Death Of Darkness, the sheer passion and the enticing mystery, the suspense, and the smirk, are still very much alive.

Chile’s J.P. Krom Conjures The Mystical With “Luna Plutón” Off Upcoming Gothic Metal EP “AstroMetal”

Posted in gothic metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , on August 20, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

A son of Poseidon, J.P. Krom is a Chilean writer/composer, singer/guitarist, and one of a few who cultivate the gothic metal style in the country. His music is a blend of astrological /esoteric concepts overlaid with the sounds and structures of gloomy metal, which are further enhanced with stunning visuals. Initially inspired by an astral chart, an irresistible invitation to the esoteric he began to hone his classical training into the both brooding and effervescent music that is found on the third album “AstroMetal” set to be released later this fall. In the meantime, he offers the Spanish single “Luna Plutón”, which invokes harmonious leads and bassy vocals that draw you in. Krom comments:

“Luna Plutón tells us about dark family secrets, kept in the dark of our minds. Secrets we all have, and some know and they use them to manipulate, generating resentment and an obsession with these emotions fixed in the deep. It seems that nothing can purge our blame, that most of the time we try to deny.”

Artwork by: José Canales/Valeria Jara

“Astrometal” contains six intense, deep, and powerful tracks, which are an obvious evolution from the 2021 EP “YOD”, affirming the gothic metal style that better suits J.P. with his “smoke voice”. Alongside “Luna Plutón”, the forthcoming EP has tracks “Woman Hermit” (dedicated to a Tarot card), “I Tried” (for Venus and Saturn), and “Breaking the Walls”, which features an epic symphonic arrangement that takes us to the past through ancient times. “You & I” is a love song, a declaration from a father to his son, and finally rounded out with the experimental-electronic track “I Don’t Feel Love”, a sad and introspective tune.

With “Astrometal”, the listener is invited to travel to dark passages, with sticky melodies, and uncover an esoteric listening experience, a polished and powerful sound, with a deep “smoky” voice crooning out into the abyss. J.P. Krom is recommended for fans of Type O Negative, Lacrimas Profundere, and Paradise Lost.

From Cleopatra Records:

Finnish goth metal demons The 69 Eyes send greetings to fans and fiends the world over with an ultra cool apocalyptic boogie woogie take on The Cramps’ classic “Aloha From Hell.” Originally released on the landmark 1986 album A Date With Elvis, The Cramps’ third full-length and its commercial breakthrough, “Aloha From Hell” offered a perfect distillation of the band’s sound – rollicking drums, a throbbing bass line and uber creepy tremolo guitar.

The 69 Eyes’ version retains all of the best elements of the original while adding in their own distinctive goth metal sounds, including the signature baritone voice of frontman Jyrki 69 and the twin guitar attack of Bazie and Timo-Timo with bassist Archzie and drummer Jussi 69 holding down the steady driving groove. Check out the performance video for the full experience of these veteran rockers making a full meal of The Cramps influential horror punk stew!

LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT Releases Duet With SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA “Remember To Breathe”

“Remember To Breathe” is the latest magical offering from LINDSAY SCHOOLCRAFT. Featuring a duet with SARAH JEZEBEL DEVA and Mustis on piano, the new release delivers an epic and heavy sound, setting the stage for SCHOOLCRAFT to take her solo work to the next level in 2023.

LINDSAY comments: “This one is rather special because it’s the result of community. Community of musicians and community of fans.

The track was originally something I orchestrated that didn’t make a cut a few years back. But I love how on Patreon I can just throw up my lost demos and the community there decides what path I go down next.

I definitely have not been on the heavy train much the past few years, but it was time to change that. The minute I came across this demo I knew it had to be another duet with the one and only Sarah Jezebel Deva and along the way the lovely and talented Mustis lended his piano talents (I’m still over the moon about that). I also couldn’t have done it without the super talented team that came on board.”

THE 69 EYES – New Single “Gotta Rock” Now Playing!

Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE 69 EYES are unstoppable at the moment and have returned with yet another new song “Gotta Rock” – the first to come off their upcoming, as-yet-untitled new full-length slated to drop in early 2023.

“Gotta Rock” lives up to its name. THE 69 EYES version of the track initially premiered on Vain Elämää, the biggest Finnish TV primetime show, in which you could watch singer Jyrki 69 staying in a castle with seven other artists who performed each other’s songs during their time together. “Gotta Rock” is a cover from the famous Finnish hard rock band Boycott that released the rock anthem in the late ‘80s.

For this remake, THE 69 EYES received some famous help, as Jyrki 69 explains, “The Finnish classic rock band Boycott was one of our favorites in the ‘80s when we [started] THE 69 EYES. Due to the Finnish music TV program that I was recently featured in, we finally had a reason to make our own, more gothic rock sounding cover of Boycott’s ultimate classic smash hit ‘Gotta Rock.’ Die Krupps’ Jürgen Engler helped us to arrange it into this darkened mode!”

THE EFFIGY – Releases New Single “One With My Enemy”

Posted in gothic, gothic metal, gothic rock, Hard Rock, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , on August 28, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Heavy, cinematic gothic artist, THE EFFIGY has released a lyric video for their new single “One With My Enemy”. The single is also out today on all streaming platforms. Portraying a dark and profound narrative of emotional abuse, THE EFFIGY creates dynamic musical arrangements to convey the spiraling torment experienced by the track’s protagonist.

Watch the video: https://youtu.be/e5poAh4GDgo

Influenced by the likes of GARBAGE, JOY DIVISION, EVANESCENCE, and KEANE, and thematically inspired by gothic and folk imagery, along with mythology, THE EFFIGY‘s music is a cinematic array of eclectic styles. Following their previous single “Cindersun”, which draws from Ancient Greek mythology, telling the tale of Icarus and the Sun who are framed as two lovers forever at odds, “One With My Enemy” exhibits another side to their music. Fusing delicate piano melodies, with heavy guitars and synths evoking a nod to the early noughties, a gothic through-line underpins the track. THE EFFIGY‘s vocals deliver both a soft intimate tone and powerful soaring lyrics that aptly reflect the intensifying mood of the song.

“One With My Enemy” once again showcases THE EFFIGY’s flair for catchy hooks and impressive compositions. The single conducts a compelling journey that gradually builds as the narrative progresses. Become enamored with THE EFFIGY’s striking sound.

Can you hear the roaring sea? Hitting the shores on August 12th via Atomic Fire Records is SEVENTH STORM’s debut studio album, Maledictus, which fuses melancholic gothic metal with harsh hard rock. In advance of the record’s official unveiling, today the band reveals second single, “Haunted Sea,” a soaring track that serves as the beginning of a dramatic journey into the unknown.

Comments drummer Mike Gaspar, “‘Haunted Sea’ takes us on a voyage through the treacherous waters. Overcoming the dangers and fears of this life. There’s no other way out but to fight through the waves to reach dry land. Finding love and peace for all. This song was the first to be written as a band. The strength and unity is what we bring to life in this epic story! We, SEVENTH STORM, salute all and invite you to discover this dark treasure. Hail to the winds and waters that fill our souls. There is no turning back!”

And while not a concept album, Maledictus – graced by an atmospheric painting from Victor Costa – is tied together by a strong sense of pain and anger, paired with a flickering hope of forgiveness for our lives.

THE 69 EYES – Joins The Atomic Fire Records Roster + New Music On The Horizon!

Having been haunting stages all over the world for thirty-three years, goth ‘n’ roll pioneers THE 69 EYES seem to be a truly immortal part of the dark rock/metal scene. Widely known as the Helsinki Vampires, the quintet gained several platinum albums with Blessed Be and Paris Kills and not only reached the #1 spots on the single and album charts in their home country of Finland, but also plunged the world into a sinful cosmos of love, death, and melancholy, outliving any other band emerging from the goth hype of the early 2000s.

By developing their sound further into sleaze rock on Devils (2004) and Angels (2007) and not shying away from pitch black Elvis allusions in singer Jyrki 69’s dark voice and unique onstage dance moves, the band has established a worldwide following. Over the course of over three decades, THE 69 EYES has toured relentlessly throughout Europe, America, Asia, and Australia and released twelve full-length studio albums.

Today, THE 69 EYES announces their signing to Atomic Fire Records (worldwide excluding Finland). Get your vampire teeth sharpened as news songs and tours are in the horizon!

Singer Jyrki 69 comments on this unholy new alliance: “We are back in a full swing! Our paths here in Helsinki crossed with our old A&R guy Gabi Hakanen who was with us when we released our highest selling albums Devils and Angels, so as he heard our new demos, we sort of just continued like right after last time. So, he got us in his label’s studio right away at Vallila Music House (Hanoi Rocks’ Sami Yaffa, Ville Valo & Agents). Simultaneously, we also hooked up with the brand new Atomic Fire Records label which has our classic former Nuclear Blast dream team there, so this ‘new’ and fresh beginning for THE 69 EYES sounds like a dream, really! New big-time rocking music comes out very soon!”

CEO and A&R Markus Wosgien adds, “We are more than happy to welcome our beloved Helsinki Vampires, the most unique and by far coolest gothic band in hell and on earth. We worked together for more than ten years and their four latest studio albums, and will continue now, reunited under the Atomic Fire banner. This feels like coming home to all of us and we are honored to continue our long term relationship.”
