We cannot believe we’re saying this… it is with profound sadness that we have to say Philip Anthony Campbell has passed.
He was Motörhead’s guitarist for 31 years (the longest serving member aside from Lemmy) having joined in 1984. After Lemmy’s passing, he was blessed to form Phil Campbell and The Bastard Sons with his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla, which recorded and toured together for years.
Phil was a wonderful guitarist, writer, performer, and musician who had Motörhead in his veins. He always led with his gift of guitar, and carried a great sense of humour, but most of all, Phil led with his heart. You could not be around him without a chuckle or twenty, because quite simply, Phil loved life and lived it with great joy.
There will be plenty of time for us to share stories -tales of Campbell glory- and some damn good jokes together; for now, please send love and positive energy to Gaynor and the boys while affording them time, space, and privacy.
Much love and RIP Phil. The world has just lost an enormous beam of light, and we are devastated.
God Bless the soul of Phil Campbell. Love and light to the entire Campbell family.
“Tales From The Pusciverse #2: The Briefcase” cover featuring artwork by Marlin Shoop
March 11, 2026 – The Pusciverse continues to expand with the arrival of “Tales From The Pusciverse #2: The Briefcase.” The new installment follows the immediate sell-out of the series’ debut issue, which introduced the character Bellendia Black and quickly moved through two printings.
The second issue centers on one of the longest running mysteries in the Pusciverse… The Briefcase. For years, the object has appeared in Puscifer’s videos and photographs, prompting the recurring question among fans: “What’s in the briefcase?”
Written by Maynard James Keenan, the new issue features artwork by Marlin Shoop (“Captain Action,” “G.I. Joe,” “Unprepped”) with lettering by Jack Morelli (“Afterlife with Archie,” “Peter Parker Annual,” Marvel Comics).
“The Briefcase has been part of the Puscifer mythology for years,” Keenan notes. “Everyone wonders what exactly is inside. This issue doesn’t necessarily answer the question… but it moves the story forward.”
“Issue #2 pulls you deeper into the mystery of the briefcase, and illustrating that chaos was half the fun,” Shoop shares.
Issue #2 also marks the Pusciverse comics debut of Major Douché, one of the earliest and most recognizable figures in the Pusciverse. The character first appeared ahead of Puscifer’s 2009 Las Vegas residency, the band’s live debut, and later appeared in the “V is for Versatile” concert film.
“Tales From The Pusciverse” comics are available exclusively via Puscifer.com.
Puscifer’s new album, Normal Isn’t, is out now via Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG. The band’s North American tour launches on March 20 with tickets on-sale here.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the great Tommy DeCarlo.
Tommy will forever be remembered by fans around the world as the powerful voice behind the album ‘Life, Love & Hope’ with Boston, as well as for the other music that he created with us. Through the years we had the privilege of working with him on several releases, including ‘Lightning Strikes Twice’ and his solo album, ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’.
Tommy also joined us on stage at the Frontiers Rock Festival in 2019, delivering a memorable performance that perfectly captured his passion for music and connection with the fans.
Beyond his extraordinary voice, Tommy was a kind and genuine person who will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, bandmates, and fans around the world.
We’re excited to announce that we have another new song exclusively available on our website! It’s called “Midnight Gasoline”. Check it out and let us know what you think. Thanks for supporting FireHouse!
March 3, 2026 – Held., the trio featuring Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano of The Sleeping, alongside Coheed And Cambria’s Josh Eppard, have released “CONSTANT TENSION” (https://held.ffm.to/constanttension), the second preview from their forthcoming debut album, GREY (May 15, MNRK Heavy).
The five-minute track arrives on the heels of the band’s debut single, “NEW YOU ANTHEM FT. FRANK IERO,” which Revolver praised for its “lightning-strike guitar… and thunderous drums,” Alternative Press dubbed as “rousing,” and idobi called a “dazzling post-hardcore tune.”
Where Held.’s introduction leaned into catharsis through connection, “CONSTANT TENSION” presents a more unsettled dynamic. Directed by Adam Thomson, the accompanying video builds on the story arc introduced with “NEW YOU ANTHEM,” providing a sci-fi-esque visual companion to the themes behind GREY.
“CONSTANT TENSION’ stems from an everlasting battle within myself to embrace who I am via internal reflection,” Robinson explains. “It’s all of my strengths fighting against all of my weaknesses. There is a ‘constant tension,’ a violent push and pull within my mind every single day. I let myself down so much, to the point where I often feel like I have to somewhat abandon myself and step outside to try and see the bigger picture, but the hurt inside of me pulls me back into my own thoughts. I go completely blank to try and focus, which oddly enough resorts to more tension, and more clouded thoughts. It feels like an endless cycle. The lyrics to ‘CONSTANT TENSION’ mirror all of this.”
The band has also announced an intimate GREY listening party this Thursday, March 5, at Selva in Brooklyn. Held. will be on hand from 7 to 10 p.m. and no RSVP is required.
On GREY, Held. channel decades of collective experience into a debut that reflects both creative evolution and personal reckoning. “The album as a whole truly feels like it’s everything I have ever wanted to write in my time growing as a musician,” Robinson says. “This record has, in many ways, healed me…. or, it’s at least trying to.”
Produced and mixed by Jon Markson (Drug Church, Drain, The Story So Far), GREY was recorded at the Animal Farm in Flemington, N.J.
Album pre-orders, including multiple limited-edition vinyl variants, are available now: https://held.ffm.to/grey.
Held. is Douglas Robinson (vocals/guitar), Sal Mignano (bass) and Josh Eppard (drums)

To Tesla, to the songs that shaped them, and to the fans who’ve been there all along — welcome to Frontiers Music!

Produced to perfection by longtime collaborator Eric Ratz, the trio’s new studio offering Leo Rising is a masterclass in sweat-soaked, no-nonsense rock. Packed with razor-sharp riffs, thunderous rhythms, and infectious hooks, the album reaffirms that DANKO JONES are keeping rock alive by doing it better than anyone else.
John Calabrese laid down bass tracks from Finland, Rich Knox flew to Toronto to record drums, and Danko worked with producer Eric Ratz in the same city to capture vocals and guitars. Despite recording separately once again, the band’s chemistry is unmistakable. The result is pure DANKO JONES: tight, loud, and built for the stage.
February 23, 2026 – Tomahawk return to the road this summer for their first live performances in 13 years, with the month-long U.S. run marking the band’s 25th anniversary and reuniting Tomahawk with labelmates the Melvins for their first tour together since 2003’s “Geek Show” trek.

About Tomahawk:
Tomahawk — guitarist Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard, The Unsemble, etc.), vocalist Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, Fantômas, etc.), drummer John Stanier (Helmet, Battles, etc.), and bassist Trevor “field mouse” Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc.) — show up just when we need them. The first time was in 2001 with the self-titled Tomahawk. Following Mit Gas (2003) and Anonymous (2007), they dropped Oddfellows during 2013. It marked their best chart debut, reaching #9 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums Chart.
All kinds of touring and festivals followed before the members went back to their gazillion other gigs in 2014. Then on their 20th anniversary, they finally returned with their fifth full-length album, Tonic Immobility, and now on their 25th anniversary, they have returned to the stage.

About the Melvins:
Formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, the Melvins are one of modern heavy music’s most influential bands. Led by Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover and currently featuring Steven McDonald (Redd Kross) and Coady Willis (Big Business, High on Fire), the band has released more than 30 albums across a four-decade career that helped shape the sound of heavy music. Their latest release, Tarantula Heart, arrived last year, with a new collaborative album with Napalm Death, Savage Imperial Death March, due this Spring.
Helsinki’s very own hard rocking quintet Wishing Well have today released a brand new “Valley Of Darkness”single off their new Playing With Fire album, out on March 13th. The song is a fast and furious opening track off their new album and a perfect example of classic Wishing Well sound, featuring Hammond organ, melodic guitar solos and strong vocals with haunting lyrics.
The song is released together with an effective black and white video, that greatly supports the song’s cinematic atmosphere. “Valley Of Darkness” was written by Anssi Korkiakoski, the guitarist of Wishing Well. The song and the album were recorded in Magnusborg studios in Porvoo by Marko Kataja. The music video was filmed and edited by Jussi Koskinen.
Playing With Fire is Wishing Well’s fifth album on Inverse Records and we’ve had a great journey together for ten years. The band have gotten better and better album by album and the new record is once again a solid proof of their motivation, skills and determination”, says Jaakko Tarvainen, A&R Producer of Inverse Records.
He continues, “Valley Of Darkness is a song that represents Wishing Well very well and the new album will open many new doors and bring new opportunities and more fans for the band, that’s for sure. I’m very happy that a band like Wishing Well is in our roster, we keep going full steam ahead together.”

East Nashville hard rock force KALAMITY KILLS has released its powerful new single, “These Days Are Evil,” an urgent and unflinching anthem confronting division, manipulation, and digital-age addiction while calling listeners back to human connection and personal responsibility.
Written primarily by frontman Jamie Rowe in late 2024 and completed in collaboration with guitarist Jamey Perrenot, the track captures a sense of cultural unrest and psychological tension that feels unmistakably current. Blending aggressive riffs, driving rhythms, and a massive, chant-ready chorus, “These Days Are Evil” stands as one of the band’s most focused and explosive releases to date.
“I wrote most of this song in late 2024 knowing it was something special,” says Rowe. “Putting it in Jamey Perrenot’s hands to take it across the finish line has resulted in my favorite KALAMITY KILLS track to date. Look, it’s no secret the world is in a dark place these days, but we have a say in how we treat others. I want to see the good in people. An act of kindness goes a long way right now. Maybe we all need to take a second away from our screens and show up for someone in the real world. That’s what this song is really about: waking up to the manipulation, refusing to be pawns in their game, and choosing connection over division. We can’t control the chaos around us, but we can control how we respond to it.”
The single explores themes of manufactured outrage, screen-driven identity, fear-based messaging, and the constant battle for attention and influence. At its core, however, the message is not despair but choice. While the world may feel unstable, the band emphasizes that individuals still control how they treat one another.
Emerging from East Nashville’s thriving rock underground, KALAMITY KILLS continues to build momentum with music that challenges as much as it energizes. “These Days Are Evil” reflects a band unafraid to confront uncomfortable truths while offering a path forward rooted in awareness and compassion.
BELZEBONG, DOLA and SEKS W CZASACH WOJNY join the ranks for Szczecin’s debut edition
Early Bird tickets sold out – General weekend tickets available!
Szczecin, Poland; 12 February 2026: Hells Bells Festival has unveiled its third wave of band additions to its 2026 inaugural edition. Leading the charge is one of the most iconic voices in heavy metal history, Dirkschneider, who will bring a career-defining set of Accept classics to the Szczecin riverfront on 26-27 June 2026.
Dirkschneider will arrive in Szczecin with a very specific mission: a set comprised entirely of Accept’s greatest hits. While the performance will lean heavily on the legendary “Balls to the Wall” album, fans can expect other Accept anthems too.
In a move that deviates from typical festival hierarchies, the organisers have opted for a “Main Acts” philosophy. Rather than a single headliner, the debut edition will be driven by multiple headline shows. Dirkschneider joins the likes of Grave Digger, Cockney Rejects, Discharge, Furia, Vader and Dezerter.
Adding a heavy dose of fuzz to the lineup are Belzebong, who are widely regarded as one of Poland’s premier musical exports in the stoner/doom genre. Their hazy, riff-driven walls of sound have earned them a cult following across the international festival circuit, making them a perfect fit for the industrial atmosphere of Łasztownia.
The experimental side of the underground is represented by Dola. Over the last decade, the band has emerged as one of the most fascinating entities in Polish music, defying easy categorization. Their sound is a bleak and beautiful fusion of avant-garde black metal, ritual ambient, and sludge, occasionally punctuated by jazz and electronic elements. It is music that demands total focus and offers a unique, immersive experience.
Finally, the festival welcomes the raw energy of Seks W Czasach Wojny (transl.: Sex in Times of War). One of the most talked-about young punk crews in Poland, they have built a massive following through a strict DIY ethic and incendiary live shows that often outshine the veteran acts on the bill. Their inclusion brings a vital, fresh spirit to the 2026 lineup, proving that the future of the Polish punk scene is in safe hands.
Hells Bells Festival will take place in the heart of Szczecin, Poland, on 26-27 June 2026. The venue is the scenic Plac Gryfitów on Łasztownia, a historic island district in Szczecin known for its iconic “Craneosaurs” (historic port cranes) and stunning views of the Oder River. The festival will deliver a mix of international legends, top domestic acts and younger new bands.
Early bird weekend tickets have sold out but general weekend tickets are still available via the official festival website. In addition to standard passes, the festival offers reduced rates for minors (ages 13-18) and special family tickets (for children under 13 with a guardian).

BAND BIO:
Gutter dwellin’ rock n roll from Baltimore, MD!
Formed in 2018 by members of Nux Vomica, Deathammer, and Raw Filth who wanted to strike a sound somewhere between their love of 80’s metal and rock n roll swagger with punk grit. Months of gigging and developing their style led them to comparisons with classic bands straddling those same lines such as Motörhead and Venom, with their self released demo in 2019.
After some lineup changes and higher profile gigs opening for BAT, Poison Ruin, and a spot on Maryland Deathfest, they released their self-titled full length in 2022. Total Maniac sets apart from their contemporaries by authentically not giving a fuck about fitting into a narrow box.
Several more high profile gigs, festivals, and DIY tours followed. It’s not uncommon to find them on a bigger stage opening for major metal acts such as Midnight or Sodom one night, and then a sweaty packed dive bar playing alongside crust punk bands the next month.
Feb. 11, 2026 – The Melvins and Napalm Death join forces for Savage Imperial Death March (April 10, Ipecac Recordings), a true collaboration – not a split, but a new album featuring members of both bands.
The album shares its name with the bands’ Savage Imperial Death March tours from 2016 and 2025, but marks their first full-length studio collaboration under the moniker.
Yesterday, the first track from the album, “Tossing Coins Into The Fountain Of Fuck,” premiered with Jose Mangin on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal.
The album was recorded at the Melvins’ Los Angeles studio, with Buzz Osborne (vocals/guitar) and Dale Crover (drums) joined by Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway (vocals), Shane Embury (bass), and John Cooke (guitar).
“I have loved the Melvins forever and their outlook on music,” Embury explains. “A chance to make an album of eclectic musical madness with them was truly an honour and a whole lot of fun, which surely is the whole point! Let’s do another one soon.”
“Napalm Death are one of my favorite bands ever,” Osborne says. “It was an absolute pleasure and a dream come true to do this collaboration with them. We wrote songs together. I would write a riff and we would learn it and record it right there. They wrote stuff and we would learn it immediately as well. It was truly a 50/50 partnership.”
“Funny how life turns out sometimes… collecting hard-to-find Melvins 7-inches on Bleecker Street in 1989 and then touring twice and doing an album with them within the following 35 years,” Greenway adds. “Had a great time with it all, and nice to work with fellow travellers in the Melvins who also couldn’t care about pandering to ‘demographics.’ I felt myself almost babbling lyrically during the recording, and that alone made for very fun recording times.”
Savage Imperial Death March pre-orders are available now (https://themelvins.lnk.to/savage). The eight-song album will be released on CD, digitally, and across four limited-edition vinyl variants: Black As Your Soul, Indie Exclusive Obnoxious Orchid, Ipecac Exclusive Absurd Aqua, and Revolver Exclusive Neon Coral.
An abbreviated version of the album was released during the band’s 2025 tour as a hyper-limited vinyl/CD edition. This iteration features new Mackie Osborne-created artwork and two new tracks (“Awful Handwriting” and “Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy”).

Separately, the Melvins play Sick New World this Spring, with a pair of California headlining dates surrounding the festival appearance. Napalm Death are currently on tour in Europe ahead of their North American trek later this Spring.

It’s no surprise that I love album cover artwork and design. Over the years we’ve covered here, on Metal Odyssey, album cover art from UFOs to Christmas with snakes in-between. This edition features astronauts portrayed as skeletons; or skulls to be more precise.
I have no idea when the firstastronaut skull appeared on an album cover; that would be a rabbit hole I’d rather not dive into. Anyone have that answer please share it here!
There are five examples of astronaut skulls shown here. Enjoy!
I wasn’t gonna miss out on posting this IRON MAIDEN gem of cover art! The Final Frontier (2010). Cover artist: Melvyn Grant
I still can’t believe ORANGE GOBLIN disbanded. I’ll always listen to this band! Back from the Abyss released back in 2014. Cover artist: CAVUM
I stumbled on this album from THE COSMIC DEAD. I’m gonna give it a listen!
Dead Astronauts EP 2.0 – I found this one by just browsing for astronaut skulls on the web.
I’m certain there’s more astronaut skull covers out there. Please share any that you’re aware of here! Thank you for visiting! Stay safe out there and respect your fellow human beings as best you can. – Stone
Debut edition set for 26-27 June 2026 in the historic port city of Szczecin, Poland
Limited Early Bird weekend tickets still available
Szczecin, Poland; 6 February 2026: Hells Bells Festival has has unveiled a further four band additions to its inaugural 2026 edition. Joining the previously announced Vader, Discharge, Furia and Dezerter, this second wave of artists brings a lethal injection of German heavy metal, British street punk, and high-energy Polish rock’n’roll to the Oder riverfront.
Leading the announcement are German heavy metal titans Grave Digger. With a career spanning over four decades, the German heavy metal legends remain one of the most prolific and respected forces in the genre. Known for their iconic concept albums and the unmistakable grit of Chris Boltendahl’s vocals, the band continues to prove their relevance; their recent studio effort, Bone Collector (2025), saw them revisiting the crusader themes that made them household names in the 80s.
Joining them are the originators of street punk, Cockney Rejects. Emerging from the East End of London in the late 70s, the band famously gave the “Oi!” subgenre its name and provided the soundtrack for generations of underground fans. Still possessing the same pugnacious energy that defined their early years, the Rejects bring a legacy of anthems that bridge the gap between terrace culture and raw punk rock.
The addition of two Polish acts also bolsters the line-up. The Stubs will bring their self-described “low-budget rock’n’roll” to the stage. Widely considered one of the finest garage-rock bands Poland has produced, they deliver a raw, high-octane sound that will perfectly counterpoint the festival’s metal offerings.
Rounding out the announcement is Hamulec, a band currently riding a massive wave of popularity in the Polish underground. Blending thrash metal aggression with a punk spirit, Hamulec has quickly become one of the most sought-after live acts in the country.
Early bird weekend tickets are available via the official festival website until 9 February or until they sell out.
In addition to standard passes, the festival offers reduced rates for minors (ages 13-18) and special family tickets (for children under 13 with a guardian).
New Jersey rock/metal torchbearers WHO ON EARTH return with a vengeance, unleashing their blistering new single “Vigilance,” accompanied by an incendiary official music video. The release follows the momentum of the band’s critically praised 2025 EP Smoke & Mirrors and signals the next chapter in their quest for world domination!
Commenting on the single, bassist Pete Rizzi says:
“Vigilance’ was written for one reason and one reason only: to deliver both a warning and a call to unity. As we become more divided as a country, the elite continue to gain wealth and power at our expense, unabated. This is a “we’ve had enough” cry from the urban streets of Trenton, NJ!“
“Vigilance” delivers a crushing preview of what WHO ON EARTH have in store for 2026: sharp riffs, thunderous rhythms, and unflinching intensity. The single arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming spring tour supporting FOZZY, where fans can experience the new material live. With Regrets, Twisted Sister Cancels 50th Anniversary Celebration Performances Due to the sudden and unexpected resignation of Twisted Sister’s lead singer Dee Snider brought on by a series of health challenges, the band has been forced to cancel all shows scheduled, beginning April 25th in Sao Paulo Brazil and continuing through the summer. The future of Twisted Sister will be determined in the next several weeks.
Stay tuned for updates, Jay Jay French/Eddie Ojeda French Management Enterprises
A lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing has taken its toll on Dee Snider’s body and soul. Unbeknownst to the public (until now) Snider (70) suffers from degenerative arthritis and has had several surgeries over the years just to keep going, able to only perform a few songs at a time in pain.
Adding insult to injury, Dee has recently found out the level of intensity he has dedicated to his life’s work has taken its toll on his heart as well. He can no longer push the boundaries of rock ‘n’ roll fury like he has done for decades. Says Snider, “I don’t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.”
In the immortal words of Dirty Harry, “A man’s got to know his limitations.” Sadly, Dee Snider now knows his.
God Bless Dee Snider. We Love You At Metal Odyssey.
