SCANNER – Have Re-Signed With Massacre Records And Plan To Release A New Album!

From Massacre Records:

SCANNER sure aren’t strangers in the Metal scene, since they’ve been around since the mid-80’s!

SCANNER had a few bumps in the road of their journey so far, but that didn’t stop them from doing their thing! SCANNER always existed, even when there were false rumors circulating regarding the band’s status.

The band can look back on an impressive live history, including numerous live gigs worldwide, European tours and appearances at festivals, such as Germany’s Wacken Open Air.

From 1988 ’til 2002, SCANNER released 5 albums so far and now – almost 13 years after the release of their latest album “Scantropolis” – the band is back with a new record!

The band’s brand new album is entitled “The Judgement”! The cover artwork’s been created by Anestis Goudas.

The idea behind the album is that the Scanner has returned to earth to see what religion has done to mankind. He also asks himself how a society would evolve if there wouldn’t be any religion at all. Would it be possible to live in peace?

The new album promises to feature true and uncompromising Power Speed Metal! There will be catchy songs like the album’s title track, but also songs that will have you chanting and singing along and even high-speed Metal tracks.

SCANNER’s new album “The Judgement” is planned to be released in late January 2015 via Massacre Records!

SNAKE EYES SEVEN “Medicine Man” – New Album Releasing On HighVolMusic

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags heavy metal news, metal albums 2014, Metal News, metal odyssey, snake eyes seven on October 1, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

HighVolMusic is pleased to announce the signing of the Canadian Heavy Metal band Snake Eyes Seven. Snake Eyes Seven is currently recording their latest effort Medicine Man with producer Cam McLeod (White Wolf) at the Wolfsden (pic below) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Medicine Man marks the bands 3rd release with label president Bill Chavis. Both Snake Eyes Seven (2007) and 13 Crows (2010) were released with Bill. “I am very happy to have Cole and company back on-board. Cole and I developed a great friendship from day one. He is a great person and loyal friend to the end, not to mention a prolific riff master and writer. We have worked together for so long it just seems logical for me to be involved with the next Snake Eyes Seven chapter. Cole called and said will you do this, I said when do we start? I discovered Cole and his band years ago but actually turned him down the first few times. It was only after Cole’s non-stop perseverance that I caved in. The first release was OK but 13 Crows was outstanding. I don’t think it caught on but it was a great release. Medicine Man proves to be the best Snake Eyes Seven release yet and judging by the demo material, it will be a game changer.

“

Snake Eyes Seven now features Cole ‘The Madman’ Stevens – guitar, Cam McLeod – guitar, Danny Deane – vocals, Mike Cillis – bass, and Erik Young – drums.

Snake Eyes Seven recently launched their Facebook page with a new website to follow in the coming days. More details on Medicine Man including soundbytes and other information will be revealed soon.

Crank Up Show Me The Money below! Whoa!

ANNIHILATED – Extreme Death Metal Unit Featuring Members Of Abysmal Dawn And Arkaik To Release Unique Leader Debut; Lyric Video Now Playing At Revolver Magazine

Posted in Death Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags annihilated, Death Metal, extreme death metal, metal albums 2014, Metal News, metal odyssey on September 28, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

California-based Extreme Death Metal perpetrators, ANNIHILATED – who features within its ranks, current and former members of Abysmal Dawn, Grotesque, Excretion, and Arkaik – will spread their sonic sickness across the lands this Fall with the release of debut full-length, XIII Steps To Ruination.

Set for official unleashing via brutality powerhouse, Unique Leader Records, ANNIHILATED’s XIII Steps To Ruination was produced by drummer Scott Fuller (Abysmal Dawn) and boasts eleven pounding, methodically-crafted tales of torment bedecked in hailstorm riff sequences, homicidal blasts, maniacal vocal onslaughts, and strategically composed percussive syncopation all fueled, conceptually, by political/corporate disgust and societal revulsion. As an added bonus, XIII Steps To Ruination features guest appearances by Sven De Caluwe (Aborted), Monte Pittman (Prong), Peter Truax (Vesterian, Eyes Of Fire) and Eric Stobel (Plaguereaper, P.O.R.).

Comments Fuller of ANNIHILATED’s union with Unique Leader: “We are psyched to be a part of the Unique Leader family. With such a notable roster of brutal Death Metal bands and awesome releases, we feel right at home.”

In anticipation of XIII Steps To Ruination‘s forthcoming release, today Revolver Magazine is hosting the official lyric video for the title track. Get furious, question government and witness some audio/visual carnage at THIS LOCATION.

_____________________________

XIII Steps To Ruination – Track Listing:

1. Global Enslavement
2. Eyes In The Sky
3. This Fear I Speak Of
4. XIII Steps To Ruination
5. Eradication Profits
6. Divide Distract Deceive
7. For The Ignorant
8. Wastelands
9. Creations Of Man
10. Throne Of Eternity
11. Putrifacation

_____________________________

ANNIHILATED was forged in 2008 by guitarists Eric Matranga and Robert Fimbres shortly following the demise of Los Angeles’ Excretion. Intent on composing music with a purpose, ANNIHILATED stands resolutely against society’s prevalent “sheep mentality” in favor of rational thought, questioning the motives of government and news media outlets though debilitating auditory domination.

XIII Steps To Ruination will see release via Unique Leader Records on October 28th, 2014 in North America, October 31st,2014 in Europe and November 3rd, 2014 in the UK. Preorder your copy today at THIS LOCATION.

On This Day In METAL History – September 28th…

Above: The legendary George Lynch on the cover of Guitar World (November – 1990)

_______________________________

01 – Back on September 28th, 1954, the legendary George Lynch was born! Happy Metal Birthday, George Lynch! This amazing guitarist was instrumental in Dokken’s skyrocketing to the top during the 80’s, with his legendary signature guitar tones and screaming solos, George Lynch gave this band an identity that has proved to be irreplaceable. During his post-Dokken years, George Lynch has worked tirelessly on a boastful Heavy Music career with his bands Lynch Mob, Souls Of We, T & N and most currently KXM.

As reported on The Official AC/DC Site:

02 – 23 years ago on September 28th 1991, AC/DC headlined a “Monsters Of Rock” festival at Tushino Airfield in Moscow, Russia. The show unofficially became part of the “Monsters Of Rock” European tour that was taking place since the later part of August.

Just one month earlier, there was a failed coup consisting of members of the Soviet Union’s government attempt to take control from the Soviet President. The concert was assembled to take place in Moscow’s Tushino Airfield as a thank you from the Russian government, offering free admission to concert attendees. AC/DC were invited to perform just three days prior to the concert date.

The crowd in attendance is one of the largest in concert history, and certainly the largest in “Monsters Of Rock” festival history, at an incredible estimated 1.6 million. Other bands that performed that day include Metallica, The Black Crowes, Pantera, and E.S.T..

____________________________________

03 – On a much more enormously somber note:

As reported by the Ottawa Star:

On this day in 2012, the owner of the site of the 2003 Warwick R.I., nightclub fire (sparked by “Great White’s” pyrotechnics that killed 100 people) donated the land for a permanent memorial.

KAINE – To Support Savage Messiah In November

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags heavy metal news, kaine, metal albums 2014, Metal News, metal odyssey on September 27, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

KAINE are pleased to announce that they have been chosen to open for Savage Messiah on the 21st of November at the Portland Arms Cambridge.

The band was given the support slot after being chosen by fans in a poll that was run by the promoter, Millerton Events Cambridge. Kaine won over half the votes despite competing against 11 other bands for the slot.

Band founder Rage Sadler said:

“Many of our fans have requested we play with Savage Messiah for a long time, seeing that we are two revival bands with styles that complement each other well. We are extremely lucky to have been given this rare opportunity to actually do this gig by our fans. Savage Messiah are on a big label and its not very easy to work with one another, so we are very excited about being able to finally do this. We will be playing a number of our older thrash songs at the show which makes this gig even more special for the band. It will also be fun to catch up with Mira (Savage Messiah, bass) who we befriended while he was playing in Monument. This will definitely be a gig not to miss.”

For more information on the show, please visit the event page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/721922324539778/

In further news, the band’s critically acclaimed album The Waystone will be released on vinyl and CD in North American on October 14th 2014 via Static Tension Records.

ZERO DOWN – Signs To Minotauro Records; “No Limit To The Evil” Slated For Fall/Winter Release

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags metal albums 2014, Metal News, metal odyssey, traditional metal, zero down on September 18, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

ZERO DOWN: Lenny Burnett – Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Vocals, Matt Fox – Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Vocals, Ron E. Banner – Bass, Vocals, Chris Gohde – Drums, Mark “Hawk” Hawkinson – Lead Vocals & Screams

______________________________

Seattle trad-metallers ZERO DOWN have signed to Minotauro Records and a fall/winter release is set for the release of their fourth album, tentatively titled No Limit to the Evil. Stay tuned for the release date.

After releasing their last CD independently, ZERO DOWN is now set and excited to release their next ripper on Minotauro Records in the Fall/Winter of 2014. Once again the band will be reuniting with Martin Feveyear (QOTSA, SCREAMING TREES, DUFF MCKEAGAN’S LOADED, etc) at Jupiter Studios in Seattle to lay down this beast and packaging will include artwork by the master of Metal art, Ed Repka (MEGADETH, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, DEATH, MISFITS, etc). Tentatively titled No Limit To The Evil, this new opus will feature ten new cuts and sure to be Minotauro’s heaviest release to date, so scream for me motherfuckers!

Formed in 2002, ZERO DOWN consists of five veteran musicians from the Seattle Metal/Punk Rock scene that cast iron 70’s Arena Rock with classic NWOBHM guitar riffs to bring the old school Metal traditions to the present! Over the past decade ZERO DOWN have released three scorching slabs of their Metal Rock (Old Time Revival, Good Times At The Gates of Hell and Looking To Start A Riot) and shared the stage with a variety of national acts including UFO, MOTLEY CRUE, DIAMOND HEAD, Y&T, RAVEN, ACCEPT, GODSMACK, THE ACCUSED, THE SUPERSUCKERS, UDO, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, PRONG and PAUL DIANNO.

Critical Praise:

“Hands, er, down, Seattle’s Zero Down are America’s best unsigned band, and to be that, you gotta have more than one beer-bongin record of clanging rock God-ness, and well, Zero Down have two, 2005’s Old Time Revival and now this Ed Repka-painted ripper!”

– Martin Popoff (BWBK Magazine & Hard Radio.com)

“Chock full of bombastic blues-rock riffs and cocksure swagger. Imagine how Zeke, Scissorfight and Airbourne might sound if they got drunk and jammed together. It’s classic without sounding dated and reverential without sounding copyist.” – Caren Gibson (Metal Hammer Magazine)

ENGRAVED DISILLUSION – Reveal New Album Details

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news with tags engraved disillusion, melodic metal, metal albums 2014, Metal News, metal odyssey on September 12, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

South West UK Metal juggernaut Engraved Disillusion have today revealed details for their second album and follow-up to 2011’s acclaimed ‘Embers Of Existence’.

Entitled ‘The Eternal Rest’, the album was recorded at Thin Ice Studios with Karl Groom (Dragonforce, Threshold…) during the summer of 2014 and features 10 tracks of epic, diverse and at times unrelenting Metal. The addition of new vocalist Matthew William Mead and bassist Aaron Preston has allowed the band to diversify and bring new elements to their sound, namely the inclusion of clean vocals.

Guitarist Toby Stewart comments, “When we started writing the album we made sure to write exactly what we wanted to do even if it took us in some different directions to our other releases. We felt a bit tired of bands having to make the music people expect them to when they’re capable of a lot more. The initial word that we had in our heads when writing (the) album was ‘epic’. We wanted a huge melodic sound. We feel the songwriting has gone up another level and we’ve achieved exactly what we wanted to on this album.”

Artwork was completed by Colin Marks at Rain Song Design (Strapping Young Lad, Saille, Exodus, Scar Symmetry…) and can be seen below:

‘The Eternal Rest’ – Track List:

01) Life is…

02) Embrace The Flames

03) Lost

04) Curse The Sorrow

05) Shadows Run Black

06) No Tomorrow

07) Into Oblivion

08) In Aeternum

09) Echoes From A Silent Sky

10) The Eternal Rest

‘The Eternal Rest’ will be released independently on 31^st October.
