Gloryful - Group Promo Pic & Logo - #1 - 2012

From Massacre Records:

We’re happy to announce the signing of Germany’s Heavy Metal hopefuls GLORYFUL!

The band was formed in summer 2010 by lead singer Johnny La Bomba and Shredmaster JB (a.k.a. Jens Basten, who is also  Night In Gales’ guitarist and songwriter). Their 3-track demo “Sedna’s Revenge” gained them a high reputation among the Classic Heavy Metal underground.

The band already played numerous shows with bands like Powerwolf, Vicious Rumors, Ordan Ogan and Helstar and left screaming crowds longing for their debut album.

GLORYFUL’s music is not about any clichés or bullshit. It’s just what it is: Heavy Metal!

As a full line-up consisting of advanced and professional musicians like Vito Papotto (guitar), Oliver Karasch (bass) and Hartmut Stoof (drums), they entered the studio in summer 2012 to record their debut album and chose legendary Swedish sound alchemist Dan Swanö as their producer.

The band about their addition to Massacre Records’ artist roster:

“We are very happy to be part of the Massacre family now! As Massacre Records is one of Germany’s most important and long-living addresses for quality Metal music, it’s an honor for us to release our debut album with them in 2013!”

GLORYFUL:

Johnny La Bomba – Vocals

Jens Basten – Guitar

Vito Papotto – Guitar

Oliver Karasch – Bass

Hartmut Stoof – Drums

VREID – Norwegian Black ‘N’ Roll Assassins Set To Release New Full-Length “Welcome Farewell” – Teaser Track Posted

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 20, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Vreid - Welcome Farewell - promo ad - 2012

Norwegian black ‘n’ roll assassins VREID recently completed work on their latest long player. Titled Welcome Farewell, the follow-up to 2011’s V — whichDecibel called, “…VREID’s finest hour,” and Metal Army America commended for its “integrity and sheer electrical power,” — was recorded at bassist Hváll’s own Studio 1184 and is set for North American release via Indie Recordings on March 5, 2013.

View their in-studio video blog at THIS LOCATION.

Comments bassist Hváll of the new material: “two years after we started writing new riffs, our new beast is now complete. It’s been a lot of work, but we are utterly pleased with the result. ‘Dark,’ ‘heavy’ and ‘VREID’ are the three keywords to describe it.  The artwork takes us in a new direction this time, and is done by the wizard Kim Holm. His work is spectacular and has captured the music and lyrics beyond words. In February the new album will see the light of day, and we can’t wait to unleash it, and come out and play for you again.”

Additionally, you can sample latest VREID single “The Reap” as well as the Welcome Farewell cover art courtesy of esteemed metal rag Terrorizer HERE! Further details on Welcome Farewell to be revealed in the coming weeks.

TERMINATE – Signs To Selfmadegod Records; Debut Full-Length Releasing In Early 2013

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on December 19, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Terminated - Large Logo!

Selfmadegod Records is proud to announce the signing of TERMINATE from Morton Grove, Illinois.

The mission of TERMINATE is simple: to play Death Metal the way it was meant to be played. Taking influences from Death Metal stalwarts Bolt Thrower and Autopsy, while maintaining a melodic sensibility akin to Swedish greats Dismember and Entombed is what defines Terminate’s sound.

Thanks to their self-released Thirst For The Obscene EP in 2011, Polish label Selfmadegod took notice of the crushing act and immediately inked a deal with TERMINATE to release their debut full-length in early 2013, which the members are currently in the process of finalizing. More details will be announced soon.

TERMINATE was formed in late 2009 by guitarist/vocalist John Porada and drummer Jim Smith. After releasing their Thirst For The Obscene demo, the lineup was completed with Tom Cardella on guitar and Alfred Mulle on bass. Consisting of veterans of the Chicago Metal scene as well as the New York Metal scene, the band has quickly made a name for itself, catching the attention of not only within their home city of Chicago, but also a core of underground fans across the world.

BARONESS – Share Video Of John Baizley And Pete Adams Acoustic Performance

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 18, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Baroness - acoustic performance - 2012

Dec. 17, 2012, Philadelphia — Baroness’s John Baizley and Pete Adams share an acoustic performance of “Stretchmarker” via their website (www.baronessmusic.com).  The clip, recorded in Baizley’s Philadelphia art studio (www.aperfectmonster.com), marks the first performance the band members have shared since their horrific bus accident in August.

“Simply put: it’s time to get back to it. Since my belated and thankful return to the USA (after our painful test in motor coach-aeronautics) I can definitively say I’ve exhausted my reserve of potential leisure activities (there’s not that many of them, after all).” explained Baizley. “I’ve come dreadfully close to boredom, and in those moments I can’t help but focus on my glaring physical infirmities.  Television offers little respite from this relative stasis; I’m sure by now I have sampled every biker-meth-dealer-zombie-low-talking-cop-crime-scene-serial-killer-real-housewife soap opera that is currently being broadcast (and there’s no small number of them).  I’ve tried to fill my weekly routine with as much physical therapy as possible but the truth is, PT is not fun, and its benefits come with a great deal of mental/physical/spiritual pain and struggle.

Furthermore, I believe I am getting a touch of Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to my doctors and therapists (the highlight of my week should NOT involve a clinic).  Music might be the best therapy I have right now.   Perhaps it’s both the cause and the cure (the thought has crossed my mind); but I feel lost without it.  Pete and I have just spent a long week surveying our musical wreckage and, surprisingly, we are quite well and intact.  Sure, there are some substantial obstacles to overcome before we write, record or perform any time soon; but we still have everything we need to get ‘back in’ that particular ‘saddle again.’  Most of my peers are familiar with such high-school-gym-teacher poeticisms as ‘risk equals reward’ and ‘no pain, no gain;’ but did any of us every really believe there was any real wisdom in those adolescent platitudes?  I didn’t.  I am, however, starting to understand the essence of these and many of our other favorite clichés.

As odd as it might be for me to write these ‘updates’ after 10 years of personal silence on the internet, I feel that I owe everyone who’s voiced or given their support to  Baroness a brief synopsis of our situation and more importantly a heartfelt thanks.  Honestly, it has made this ordeal much easier on me.  What little publicity that surrounds our crash has given voice to so many people who have shared their own stories of injury, trauma and struggle with us, and has furthered my own faith in the communicative and universal strength of music.  As every singer on every stage has nightly said, ‘we wouldn’t be where we are without you.’  Thanks everyone.  We look forward to seeing you soon.  Here’s a short clip of a song we wrote.”

Baroness - Yellow & Green - promo covers!!

Yellow & Green, Baroness’s breakthrough double album, has garnered enormous praise on various best of and year-end lists worldwide including reigning over Spin’s “20 Best Metal Albums of 2012,” iTunes awarding “Take My Bones Away” the distinction of the best metal song of the year, Metal Hammer Germany placing the release at #2 on their year-end list and BBC Music describing the album as a “nearly flawless collection” while giving Yellow & Green the #13 spot in their Top 25 albums of 2012.  The 18-track record also landed on year-end lists from Amazon (#46), Close Up Sweden (#4), Decibel (#2), Guitar World (#15), Loudwire (#4), Magnet (#12), Metal Hammer Norway (#4), Metal Hammer UK (#14), Paste (#47), Pitchfork (#27), PopMatters (#4), Revolver (#4), Stereogum (#18), Terrorizer (#2), Treble (#2), Village Voice (#6) and Visions Germany (#4).

Baizley recently did a number of interviews where he discussed Baroness’s upcoming plans, telling Decibel Magazine:  “I have no doubt that within six months, we’ll be playing shows  again.”  The full interview can be read here and here.

Limited quantities of the Yellow & Green Deluxe 2xLP Hardbound Book Vinyl edition from the band’s personal collection are available via Baroness’s website (www.baronessmusic.com) with all proceeds going directly to the band.

Faithsedge is a heavy Heavy Metal/Hard Rock/Progressive project started by singer/songwriter Giancarlo Floridia in Huntington Beach, California, in early 2009. Giancarlo has a solid musical background, having previously worked with renowned producers such as Mike Talanca (David Bowie/Foreigner) and Juan Croucier (ex-Ratt) among others.

Faithsedge - Giancarlo - Alex - promo pic - 2012

Giancarlo contacted producer and bass player Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Lukather/Alice Cooper) after not only being impressed with his work on numerous albums as a producer but also with his amazing bass playing skills. Fabrizio has worked with some of the biggest names in the most diverse music genres (George Clinton, Ice T and Cypress Hill are among his endless list of collaborations) and after hearing Giancarlo’s demos put together an incredible band to back up the project along with himself playing bass duties and producing the resulting debut CD.

Alex De Rosso joined Faithsedge on guitar. Having handled live lead guitar duties in Dokken, with whom he toured the world and shared the stage with the likes of Scorpions, Whitesnake, Ratt, Warrant and Firehouse among others, Alex has also played on many critically acclaimed albums with artists such as Joseph Williams (Toto/Disney’s The Lion King), Kelly Hansen (Foreigner/Hurricane) and Pamela Moore (also known as Sister Mary from Queensryche’s concept album ‘Operation Mindcrime’).

Tony Morra completes the line-up on drums. Tony owns his own studio in Nashville, Tennessee, the Downtown Batterie and has played with many great artists such as Rebecca St James and Van Zant among others. He is also credited for playing on the Grammy Award winning album ‘Songs From The Neighborhood – A Tribute To Fred Rogers’ in 2006 and for touring as a member of pop legend Stevie B’s Band and Sweet Sensation. Tony has also played drums for different movie soundtracks such as ‘Chronicles Of Narnia’ and ‘Just Married’ to name a few.

The resulting effort is a perfect mix of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Progressive, with lots of vocals and hooks, shredding guitar solos, pounding bass and drums and plenty of melodically challenging songwriting. ‘Faithsedge’ was mastered by Tom Baker of Precision Mastering (Judas Priest/Motley Crue).

KILLING JOKE To Release “The Singles Collection 1979-2012” This Spring Via Spinefarm/Universal

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , on December 17, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Killing Joke - The Singles Collection 1979-2012 - promo cover pic!

The Singles Tour Announced

KILLING JOKE will celebrate their 35th anniversary in style next year with the release of The Singles Collection 1979-2012 and a world tour set to commence in Europe this coming March. 2013 will also see the band release a new studio album!

With a fierce intelligence combined with a thirst for esoteric knowledge that matches a sound  that is visceral and almost spiritual in its primal spirit, KILLING JOKE are like no other. This is a group spawned from Punk Rock that set out on one of the most remarkable and idiosyncratic journeys ever. Their influence has been enormous, with an unlikely roll-call of musicians taking their cues from the KJ catalog, from Nirvana to most modern American Metal to many DJs and dance music mavericks. Few, however have come close to matching the band’s innate power.

The Singles Collection 1979-2012, set for release via Spinefarm/Universal on April 16, 2013, captures their ever-evolving story with a series of dark, apocalyptic songs that have successfully combined disco, funk and shamanic wisdom with the dark side of the punk fall-out. The Singles Collection 1979-2012 will be released in three formats: as a digital download, a limited edition 3-CD set and a super deluxe edition.

______________________________________________

Formats:

3-CD Version includes:

– 33 career-spanning singles over 2 CDs + a third disc of rarities, including previously unreleased studio tracks. This 3-CD version will be limited in number, reverting to 2 CDs containing the singles tracks. To preorder, go HERE.

Super Deluxe Version includes:

– Hand-numbered hinged-lid “cigar box” made from 1500mcn black-lined rigid board finished with matt print retrospective artwork.

– 33 career-spanning CD singles plus selected B-Sides in full-color card wallets featuring original artwork.

– Rarities disc, including previously unreleased studio tracks.

– 32-page perfect-bound book including rare photos, archive notes, band commentary.

– Poster designed and personally signed by long-time KILLING JOKE artist/champion, Mike Coles, printed on 250gsm silk art.

– Aluminum screw-top branded cigar tube containing original wrappers of cigars smoked by Jaz Coleman and Paul Raven during the recording of the Hosannas From The Basements Of Hell album. To preorder this version, go HERE.

Killing Joke - promo group pic - 2012 - #1

KILLING JOKE, with their original line-up of Jaz Coleman, Geordie, Youth and Big Paul continuing to hold firm, have signed a brand new deal with Spinefarm and will soon set about recording a third studio album for the label. The release date of this new studio album is likely to be late 2013.

UNEARTH Prepare For “Brothers Of Brutality Tour”; Announce Matt DeVries As Fill-In Bassist

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 15, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Unearth - Brothers Of Brutality - tour admat - 2013

UNEARTH will begin 2013 in a big way on tour alongside WHITECHAPEL and EMMURE. The “Brothers of Brutality Tour” will begin on January 8th in Knoxville, TN and wraps up February 11th in New York, NY. Unfortunately, UNEARTH bassist John “Slo” Maggard will not be joining the band on the tour.

Vocalist Trevor Phipps has posted the following update:

“John “Slo” Maggard will unfortunately be sitting out the Brothers of Brutality Tour (Whitechapel, Emmure, Obey the Brave, The Plot In You) this coming January/February. His absence is simply to take care of personal matters at home and is only temporary. Slo will remain a member of Unearth moving forward and is actively involved in the writing process for our next album, which we plan to record and release some time in 2013. Luckily, our long time friend Matt DeVries (Fear Factory, ex-Chimaira) will be taking over bass duties for the tour.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to be filling in on bass for my long time friends in Unearth on the upcoming Brothers Of Brutality Tour,” DeVries said about teaming up for the tour. “They are like family to me and I’m extremely happy to step up to the plate for my good buddy Slo!

“Slo will certainly be missed on this tour, but having DeVries on board is something we are all looking forward to. He’s a true pro, a great performer and one of our closest friends in the business. Good times ahead!”

ENFORCER – Release 7 Inch Single “MESMERIZED BY FIRE”

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on December 14, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Enforcer - Mesmerized By Fire - promo cover pic!

In advance of their new studio album Death By Fire (out: February, 1st), ENFORCER will release a 7inch single called Mesmerized By Fire on January, 18th.

Tracklist:

A-Seite: Mesmerized By Fire

B-Seite: You Can Be (non album track)

Besides the limited edition on vinyl, there will also be a digital release.

Olof Wikstrand comments:

“Mesmerized by Fire is more or less the title track from the Death By Fire album. I think within four minutes it captures pretty much everything about Enforcer: intensity and power mixed with a touch of melody and melancholy. The B-side is a cover of Nagazaki’s You Can Be. It is a track with mega potential from a band that unfortunately never made it in the 80s.”

ENFORCER on tour 2013:

GRAND MAGUS / ANGEL WITCH / ENFORCER
Hunting Across Europe – Tour

Hardcore Superstar - C'mon Take On Me - promo cover pic!

Swedish Street Metallers HARDCORE SUPERSTAR are happy to present the album cover of their recently announced new studio album C’mon Take On Me that will be released as a CD in slipcase, digital download, black vinyl and strictly limited pink vinyl (only available at the Nuclear Blast mail order) via Nuclear Blast on the 1st of March 2013! With a wink, drummer Adde grants us insight on the idea behind it:

“We came up with the idea during the recordings of the album. It’s just so sexy when a woman jumps into a drum kit – what could be more exciting? We discussed the concept with photographer Micke Johansson, who loved the idea. What we especially like about it is the combination of sex and bruises!”

In the same breath, the band presents the album’s tracklist:

MUTINY WITHIN And Metal Injection Premiere New “Embers” Video – Launch Industry Embers

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 14, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Mutiny Within II - Synchronicity - promo cover pic!

The time has finally come!  MUTINY WITHIN is giving fans a full taste of their upcoming album, Synchronicity, with the release of their first single “Embers”.  The band has released a music video directed and produced by Tommy Jones of the studio. (Suffocation, Kataklysm, Soilwork, All Shall Perish) for the song “Embers”, in partnership with Metal Injection.

The song is also available for purchase via MUTINY WITHIN’S Bandcamp.

Mutiny Within - New album - Banner - 2012

MUTINY WITHIN has also partnered with Tommy Jones (the studio) in a brand new anti-piracy movement called Industry Embers.  In a society where “downloading” music for free has become accepted and even the norm, people on the outside rarely are able to grasp the true effects of their stealing and how it trickles down to all the aspects of the entire music industry.

Industry Embers is an anti-piracy organization and movement. The goal is to have individuals from different facets of the music industry spread the truth about the damaging effects piracy has on the music industry as a whole.

If you are purchasing music via service-based options, digital downloads, physical CDs, or vinyl, and paying the asking price, the industry salutes you. Industry Embers encourage fans and supporters of music and the Industry Embers objective to tweet their music purchases, regardless of genre, to @IndustryEmbers with the hashtag #BuyMusicOrItsByeMusic.

Jones and MUTINY WITHIN know the downside to piracy all too well.  Jones notes, “The guys in Mutiny Within were perfect examples of the difficulty an extremely talented new band faces to succeed in this age of online piracy, even after being signed to one of the largest metal labels.”

If you are reading this message, then you too are affected by piracy.  Support music. Educate yourself.

Trail Of Tears - promo pic - #1 - 2012

Originally formed in 1994 under the name Natt, the band changed their name to TRAIL OF TEARS in 1997. Shortly after they recorded a 3-track demo tape entitled “When Silence Cries…”

The debut album “Disclosure In Red” was released in November 1998 via the Dutch label DSFA Records, which was followed by “Profoundemonium” about 2 years later. They signed to Napalm Records in 2001 and released 4 further albums over the course of 8 years.

TRAIL OF TEARS played a lot of shows worldwide, among others with Tristania, Therion, The Sins Of Thy Beloved, Cradle Of Filth or Biohazard. They also performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Wave Gotik Treffen, Metal Mania Open Air, Metal Crowd Festival or Summer Breeze.

The band went through a couple of line-up changes, most recently with the departure of the band’s former drummer Cato Jensen. Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow joined the band as new drummer in March 2012.

TRAIL OF TEARS have now signed with Massacre Records and plan to release their 7th full-length album Oscillation in spring 2013.

Ronny Thorsen, the band’s vocalist, commented:

Massacre (Records) has a long history and a strong reputation and has shown interest and support towards the band for a long time. We look forward to detonate ‘Oscillation’ upon you all through the channels of Massacre (Records)!”
