UNEARTH Prepare For “Brothers Of Brutality Tour”; Announce Matt DeVries As Fill-In Bassist

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 15, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Unearth - Brothers Of Brutality - tour admat - 2013

UNEARTH will begin 2013 in a big way on tour alongside WHITECHAPEL and EMMURE. The “Brothers of Brutality Tour” will begin on January 8th in Knoxville, TN and wraps up February 11th in New York, NY. Unfortunately, UNEARTH bassist John “Slo” Maggard will not be joining the band on the tour.

Vocalist Trevor Phipps has posted the following update:

“John “Slo” Maggard will unfortunately be sitting out the Brothers of Brutality Tour (Whitechapel, Emmure, Obey the Brave, The Plot In You) this coming January/February. His absence is simply to take care of personal matters at home and is only temporary. Slo will remain a member of Unearth moving forward and is actively involved in the writing process for our next album, which we plan to record and release some time in 2013. Luckily, our long time friend Matt DeVries (Fear Factory, ex-Chimaira) will be taking over bass duties for the tour.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to be filling in on bass for my long time friends in Unearth on the upcoming Brothers Of Brutality Tour,” DeVries said about teaming up for the tour. “They are like family to me and I’m extremely happy to step up to the plate for my good buddy Slo!

“Slo will certainly be missed on this tour, but having DeVries on board is something we are all looking forward to. He’s a true pro, a great performer and one of our closest friends in the business. Good times ahead!”

UNEARTH: New iTunes App Unveiled!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, metal odyssey, metalcore, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal with tags , , , , , , , , on October 20, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

Massachusetts molten Metal troupe UNEARTH are excited to unveil a new iTunes app! Created by Rebel Monster Inc., the app will keep fans up to date on everything UNEARTH including news, tour info, bios, new merch and more! Additionally, push notifications from the band will let you know what’s going on before anyone else! Check out the free app at THIS LOCATION.

Commented frontman Trevor Phipps: “We wanted to design a free app for our fans that is useful and informative. The one that our friends at Rebel Monster put together gives you breaking news, tour dates, sound clips from all of our albums, full streaming songs in our ‘radio’ icon, photos, webstore access, Twitter and Facebook feeds, YouTube channel, bio info and more! We didn’t want to half ass it and put out a useless app. This one is everything you need from UNEARTH besides seeing the band live! It’s simple to use and it is FREE, so why not check it out?”

UNEARTH will kick off their co-headlining trek with Chimaira next month. The band will be touring in support of their fifth full-length, Darkness in the Light, released this past summer via Metal Blade Records.

Jägermeister Presents 2011 Tour With Co-Headliners UNEARTH & CHIMAIRA

Since the band’s genre defining release The Oncoming Storm, UNEARTH has continuously crisscrossed the globe, becoming one of the hardest – and most consistent – touring bands in all of Hard Rock. With Darkness in the Light, their fifth full-length, the quintet have delivered their most honest, powerful, and compelling statement to date, driving a fist into the collective gut of every image-obsessed Metal band currently cluttering up the landscape, and setting a new standard when it comes to marrying precision brute force and exhilarating melody.

Earning themselves Top 200 Billboard Chart entries for all four of the band’s Metal Blade releases (The Oncoming Storm, III: In the Eyes of Fire, The March, and Darkness in the Light), UNEARTH is once again prepared to take the world by storm when they hit the road this fall with Cleveland, Ohio’s Chimaira. The tour will be joined by Athens, Ohio’s Skeletonwitch and Las Vegas, Nevada’s Molotov Solution.

Jägermeister, the brand that’s synonymous with music, has a long history of supporting bands, both from a local and basement level to national amphitheater acts. The brand has spent almost two decades developing artists and has seen many go from obscurity to the top of their fields. “Both bands symbolize the attitude that Jägermeister shares with Hard Rock and Metal music,” says Bill Henderson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. “Chimaira and UNEARTH have both worked with our brand for several years and it’s great that we can continue the relationship with this tour.”

“We are incredibly pleased to announce this fall’s Jägermeister tour in North America,” says Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH.  “We will be supporting our new album Darkness In the Light and are anxious to play more tracks from that album. Hitting the road with us will be our old friends in Chimaira, Skeletonwitch and soon to be new friends in Molotov Solution.  We would like to thank Jägermeister for supporting this tour and we look forward to seeing you all on the road! Let’s make this a fall tour to remember!!! Cheers!!!”

Tickets will be on sale to the general public starting September 23 through each venue’s ticketing outlet.  Please check local listings or UNEARTH’s website HERE for more details.

UNEARTH – Darkness In The Light: Album Art and Track Listing Revealed! New Song Stream Available!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, metal music, metal odyssey, metalcore, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 11, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

UNEARTH – Pit-churning, Melodic Metal pioneers, UNEARTH, are currently readying to unveil Darkness In The Light, their fifth full-length in a discography that’s placed the band among the most prolific and plainly ravaging modern metal acts to come out of the U.S. Set for North American release on July 5 via Metal Blade Records, the 11-track long player — their most conceptually personal offering to date — was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer (and Killswitch Engage guitarist) Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed.

Commented UNEARTH vocalist Trevor Phipps of the band’s latest output: “Darkness In The Light is without a doubt some of the heaviest, most dynamic and memorable tunes we’ve ever written. The disc is littered with the shred ‘n’ stomp-filled songs our fans would expect from us, as well as some added vocal hooks, guitar melodies, guitar solos and some different paths taken in style and structure. We knew we had to continue to separate ourselves from the pack and to cement our place in the Heavy Metal world as one of the leaders and not as one of the many followers that seem to hop on the trend wagon and give up so easily when the going gets hard. We are here to stay and collectively we couldn’t be any more fired up to play these songs around the world for our fans new and old.”

Darkness In The Light Track Listing:

01. Watch It Burn

02. Ruination Of The Lost

03. Shadows In The Light

04. Eyes Of Black

05. Last Wish

06. Arise The War Cry

07. Equinox

08. Coming Of The Dark

09. The Fallen

10. Overcome

11. Disillusion

Trevor Phipps – Vocals

Buz McGrath – Guitar

Ken Susi – Guitar

John “Slo” Maggard – Bass

Justin Foley – Studio Drummer

The first single, the instantly pummeling “Eyes Of Black,” is currently streaming on the band’s official album landing page, which includes updated tour info, pre-order options and more. Said Phipps of the track: “We chose ‘Eyes Of Black’ to be the first song heard out of the gate as we feel it represents the ‘UNEARTH sound’ and style perfectly and it’s simply a hard-hitting, catchy-as-hell song. The lyrics are also in line with many of the albums darker lyrical themes. I’m not speaking for all of the band, but this is my personal favorite on the album and I can’t wait to get out there and play it live!” To check out the tune, point your browser to THIS LOCATION.

Several pre-order deals for Darkness In The Light are available. Packages include:

CD: $9.99

CD + T-Shirt: $19.99

CD + Unearth Beer Bong: $20.99

CD + T-Shirt + Unearth Beer Bong: $29.99
