Following two festival performances – Bangers Open Air in São Paulo, Brazil and Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, Ohio respectively – heavy metal icons ARMORED SAINT will enter the studio next month to begin recording their long-awaited ninth studio album, tentatively slated for a Spring 2026 release through Metal Blade Records.
In September, the band will join W.A.S.P. for a trio of UK shows before returning to the States to support legendary guitarist Michael Schenker on his My Years With UFO US Tour. ARMORED SAINT will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their second album, Delirious Nomad, with a five-song micro set of songs from the record throughout the tour.
To further commemorate the cornerstone record, the band is making available a special Delirious Nomad wrapped guitar from Dean Guitars. Each guitar is signed by the band. Presales will be announced in the coming weeks.
Elaborates vocalist John Bush, “What up, Saints? We want to give you all a heads up with what’s happening with us this year. First, we’ve been writing songs for the upcoming new record, and we are just about done! We are going into 606 Studios next month to record drums for five songs. The plan still stands for an early Spring 2026 release. We have two rad festivals dates in May: Bangers Open Air and Sonic Temple Festival. Then we’ll be joining our friends, W.A.S.P., for three shows in Britain in September which includes Newcastle where we’ve never played and London at the Eventim Apollo – formerly the legendary Hammersmith Odeon. We are psyched!”
“Then we’ll do nine more shows in the US in October with one of the best rock guitar players to ever walk the earth: Michael Schenker. We will be doing something special on these particular dates. In conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Delirious Nomad, we will be playing micro sets from that record. We’ll play other classic SAINT tunes as well of course!”
“Finally, we will do three headlining shows at the end of this tour in El Paso, Texas, where we haven’t played since 1984, Las Vegas, Nevada, and at the infamous Glass House for the first time ever in Pomona, California. Lots on the plate. Thanks for all the love as always.”

I bought this used CD for $4.99, several years ago at my local record store (Omega Music). It was released back in 1991 via FMQB (Friday Morning Quarterback Album Report Inc.). Yes, I never heard of FMQB until this CD crossed my path.
Metal Detector CD Metal Monsters Summer ‘91 has a track-list of 14 songs from 14 different bands/artists. Many of these bands on this CD I had never heard of; such as: The Almighty, Jagged EdgeUK, Pleasure Bombs, Last Crack and Skrapp Mettle. Add in the old school metal cover art and graphics of this CD and I was sold!
Above: back cover with track-list
The Almighty are from Scotland and Ricky Warwick is one of their founding members. Pleasure Bombs were a melodichard rock/heavy metal band from the USA, with only 1 studio album released in 1991. Jagged Edge UK were a glam metal/hard rock band from (of course) the UK. Last Crack is a metal band from Madison, Wisconsin. Skrapp Mettle was a rowdy band of anonymous musicians, with crazy stage names such as Spunk (the lead vocalist). Their songs were of Steel Panther variety for 1991, with “Swallow That Load” appearing on this CD.
Metal heavyweights of Anthrax and Sacred Reich are on here, along with Steve Vai, Stryper and even Dweezil Zappa, making for quite a diverse compilation.
This CD may have been used; only its condition is like new. I consider it a very decent metal find! Thank you for visiting Metal Odyssey! Metal be thy name – Stone.
Cleveland’s favorite filth metal practitioners, MIDNIGHT, will unleash Steel, Rust And Disgust on May 23rd via Metal Blade Records.
One-man-army, Athenar, has been spewing out an ungodly racket, dropping countless demos, splits, EPs, and LPs and ultimately slaying the metal/punk underground with his own addictive brand of lust, grime, and sleaze for over two decades. The Steel, Rust And Disgust collection follows last year’s chart-topping Hellish Expectations full-length and features ten unique cover tracks alongside two new cuts.
Athenar comments, “The idea to record an album of all cover jams with a certain theme is nothing quite new. The original title for this album was gonna be Throw Ups as an homage to the David Bowie’s Pin Ups album, also of covers. Although Throw Ups is only two syllables, and I need six. I guess I could’ve called it Throw Downs Throw Outs Throw Ups, but that would just be fucking stupid.
“I just wanted to record some songs by bands who shared the same sights, sounds, and sewage of my region of birth,” he continues. “Some of these tunes you may have heard, some you may have not. So please, do yourself a favor and check out the original versions… if you want to transform into a total fucking slimebag that is!”
In advance of the record’s official release, today MIDNIGHT presents the original track, “Cleveland Metal.” Notes Athenar, “‘Cleveland’ and ‘metal.’ Those two words flow together like molten steel. This title was directly taken from a compilation album of the same name released in 1983 on Clubside Records, pre–Auburn Records. The song was written as an erotic love letter to the cursed city whence I was thrusted upon and its fellow inhabitants of subhumans.”

Technical death metal architects ALLEGAEON today unveil their new video for “Wake Circling Above.” The track comes off the band’s latest full-length, The Ossuary Lens, out now on Metal Blade Records.
Comments guitarist Michael Stancel on the track, “So, one day in our group chat, [vocalist] Ezra [Haynes] was like, ‘Michael, I want something slow and heavy,’ and I was like, ‘DONE.’ I used a lot of inspiration from bands like Dimmu Borgir and Septicflesh to try and build these massive orchestral sections that set the tone as well as some noisy ‘ear candy’ sounds to add more dimension. This is probably the most different song on the record but still has all the ALLEGAEON-isms you’d want.”
Watch ALLEGAEON’s “Wake Circling Above” video HERE.

Released back in 2015, this CD single from the iconic Motörhead includes the songs “Thunder & Lightning” and “Electricity”, both taken from their 23rd studio album Bad Magic.
Bad Magic and this CD single were both released via Motörhead Music / UDR. The Bad Magic studio album was released on August 28th, 2015. I bought this CD single at my nearest Best Buy back then. It was the only one they had left; therefore, I kept it sealed as a collectible for my personal collection. Plus I did buy the Bad Magic CD (earbook version) around the same time.
Pictured on this CD single cover is the late Lemmy Kilmister (center) with Mikkey Dee (left) and Phil Campbell (right). It’s too bad the large coupon sticker completely hides Phil Campbell. I decided long ago not to remove it, just to keep this sealed CD single as original as possible, regardless of the $2 rebate offer.

This is the only Motörhead CD single I own. I do have other CD singles from other metal bands that I plan on posting about in the future. Thank you for visiting and checking this out. Metal be thy name – Stone.
Polish funeral death doom entity POSTMORTAL will unveil its debut album Profundis Omnis on May 9th 2025, via Aesthetic Death.
Meticulously crafted with an unwavering passion for the genre, this release sees the band channel the bleak, monolithic essence of funeral doom’s greats. With a deep understanding of the style’s fundamental elements, POSTMORTAL shape their sound into a crushing and immersive experience, delivering an interpretation that is both hauntingly atmospheric and devastatingly heavy.
Track-list:
1. Fallen 2. Darkest Desire 3. Decay of Paradise 4. Prophecy of the Endless 5. Queen of Woe 6. The Masterpiece of the Thing That Once Was but Will Never Be
The idea to create a funeral doom band was born in 2015 during the Czech metal music festival Brutal Assault, where most original members of the band were present: Michał (guitar), Karol (guitar), Sludge (bass) and Kamila (drums). In those days POSTMORTAL was officially created, joined soon by Dawid (vocals), and Sludge later replaced by Paweł.
Rehearsals and writing of the first songs began and by late 2017 and early 2018, the band were able to do two gigs in their hometown of Krakow, the only gigs to date. In April 2018, Karol was replaced by Kamil and the band recorded the EP Soil. Shortly after these recordings, the drummer left the band. Despite a lenghty search, it was not possible to find her successor and as a result the band went into hiatus.
Line-up: Michał Skupień – music Dawid Dunikowski – vocals, lyrics
In 2024 two original members, Dawid and Michał decided to reactivate POSTMORTAL as a two-person project with ideas and focus on creating a debut studio album. In the same year, Profundis Omnis was recorded, adapting tracks that were mostly written during the band’s early period.
Monolithic, bleak and primal, POSTMORTAL embraces the atmosphere of funeral doom overlords such as Thergothon, Tyranny, The Funeral Orchestra, Catacombs, Evoken.

BLACKENED THRASH MEETS CLASSICAL MUSIC, SET FOR RELEASE ON PEACEVILLE ON JUNE 13th 2025
This year, Japanese black metal legends Sigh celebrate 35 years of existence. With a career that has seen the release of 12 studio albums, countless worldwide shows, and a relentless dedication to pushing musical boundaries, they have firmly cemented their status as one of the most revered and influential cult acts in extreme metal.
To celebrate, Sigh have decided to revisit their 2007 opus, Hangman’s Hymn. A compositional powerhouse in its own right, Hangman’s Hymn was notably Sigh’s first concept album, blending fast 80s thrash metal influences from bands like Wehrmacht, Sarcofago, and Repulsion with classical music, particularly German symphonies. However, Hangman’s Hymn was often seen as not fully meeting the band’s own standards in terms of execution and production.
As a result, frontman Mirai Kawashima has taken it upon himself to do justice to this at times overlooked masterpiece of intricate songwriting by re-recording it with the current Sigh sound and delivery, under the title I Saw the World’s End – Hangman’s Hymn MMXXV. Set for release on Peaceville on June 13th.
I SAW THE WORLD’S END (HANGMAN’S HYMN MMXXV) Introitus / Kyrie (MMXXV) [04:30] Inked in Blood (MMXXV) [03:13] Me-Devil (MMXXV) [03:19] Dies Irae (MMXXV) [00:40] The Master Malice (MMXXV) [04:46] The Memories as a Sinner (MMXXV) [03:30] Death with Dishonor (MMXXV) [03:08] In Devil’s Arms (MMXXV) [04:32] Overture (MMXXV) [01:14] Rex Tremendae / I Saw the World’s End (MMXXV) [05:18] Salvation in Flame / Confutatis (MMXXV) [05:22] Finale: Hangman’s Hymn / In Paradisum / Das Ende (MMXXV) [04:47]
Mirai himself explains the background to the project:
“Hangman’s Hymn, which was released in 2007, is one of my best compositions of my whole career, but it does not necessarily mean that this is my favorite Sigh album. The excessively monotonous drumming must be the biggest issue. The guitars are sloppy. The production is far from the best. And my orchestrations and vocals could have been much better. So what if we re-record this with better musicians and today’s production?”
“The idea was always in my head, and finally the time has come to make it happen. I do know that re-recording can be the double-edged sword. “Scorn Defeat” has some flaws. So does “Imaginary Sonicscape”. But I will never ever re-record those albums as I am sure that it would lose their magic. But “Hangman’s Hymn” is an exception. You can easily tell what I mean if you listen to this completely re-recorded version”.
Sigh by Itsutaka Takusagawa
With Nozomu Wakai on guitar and the returning Mike Heller on drums, I Saw the World’s End – Hangman’s Hymn MMXXV is by far the fiercest, most brutal, and the most symphonic Sigh album to date, with the added flawless delivery of the new members and new orchestration with real orchestral instruments. The production by Lasse Lammert also brings a whole other dimension to the album with cover artwork courtesy of Eliran Cantor.
Japanese black metal legends Sigh formed in 1989/1990. The genre-classic debut Scorn Defeat followed on Euronymous’ Deathlike Silence Productions in 1993, and with each subsequent release, Sigh grew to become one of the country’s greatest and most revered metal exports.
With a journey through the strange and the psychedelic, incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles & experimentation throughout their career, Sigh has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field, whilst maintaining their old school roots, as witnessed with the stellar 2022 album, Shiki.
Helsinki-based doom metal band Denigrate released their fourth full length album titled To the Goddess Unknown on November 29th 2024. In the beginning of March 2025 their founding member, guitarist and main composer of Denigrate Seppo Nummela passed away suddenly. Their new music video was filmed earlier and now it’s finished and released to honor the memory of Seppo.
Denigrate’s Singer Galzi tells about the Song and the music video:
“In The Light was one of the first compositions for the album “To The Goddess Unknown” -the last individual of the album release as a music video. Also the song was the only one from the album that kept its’ work name from the beginning until completion. We wanted to make this a proper art-and-headbanging-video to underline the sheer joy of doing what we do. Huge thanks goes to Markus Saarela for capturing the moments.
Though the song tells about taking and giving nothing in return, there dwells a glimpse of hope for a change at the end. This we will dedicate to the memory of our key-member, the founder of Denigrate, Seppo Nummela. We’ll keep carrying the torch, don’t you worry brother!”

Prepare for an all-out sonic assault as INCITE returns with their latest earth-shattering single, “No Mercy No Forgiveness“. A relentless barrage of crushing riffs, thunderous grooves, and venomous vocals, this track is a war cry for the broken, the enraged, and the unstoppable. Fueled by unbridled fury and a refusal to bow, INCITE delivers a firestorm of aggression, ripping through the silence with hammering precision.
Their upcoming new album Savage New Times, set for release on August 15th, promises to be the heaviest, most unforgiving chapter in their legacy. With razor-sharp guitars, bone-crushing breakdowns, and riot-inciting anthems, this record is built for battle; unyielding, unrelenting, and unapologetically brutal. No mercy. No forgiveness. No turning back. Stay tuned.

INCITEcomments on the single, stating: “No Mercy No Forgiveness is an absolute monster. This song is pure, unfiltered aggression – exactly what we wanted to bring to the metalheads. Gallagher (WV) – U.S. Thrash Metal quartet, Executionist, will release their debut full-length album, Sacrament of the Sick, on May 16! In the four years since the release of their debut EP, the band has sharpened the blades of its attack, both in terms of songwriting and performance!
Sacrament of the Sick is a monumental step forward from Executionist’s previous material. Improved production, performances, and writing have made the Executionist sound nearly unrecognizable compared to the band’s debut EP, Destined for Destruction.
Each track was meticulously crafted and poured over in Executionist’s home studio, and the final product shows that it was worth every ounce of attention. With a clear focus on melody and tighter songwriting, Sacrament of the Sick is a sonic journey sure to leave a lasting impact on the listener.

After playing many shows together as a mere two-piece, Executionist finally added a bass player in 2024, in the form of Austin Rose. The three played more shows together before finally rounding out the lineup by adding Mike Kinder on guitar in March of 2025.
Around the same time, Executionist announced the forthcoming release of their debut full-length album, Sacrament of the Sick. The lead single “Serrated Shadows,” has already been released, with another single set to release on April 18.
With the release of their album on the horizon, Executionist aims to play live as much as possible while writing new music for their next project.

RADIAN emerged in the winter of 2017, founded by guitarist Mike Burns (ex-Rue, Sofa King Killer). Their vision to merge groove with grime culminated in the roaring, sludgy assault of their independent debut LP, Chapters (2019), praised by The Obelisk as delivering, “that extra bit of aggression one finds underlying the most satisfying of sludge metals.” Fueled by a growing response from the heavy metal community, the dynamic four-piece embraced their DIY roots, building a steady following throughout the Midwest.
This momentum led to the writing and release of their punishing sophomore album, Discordian, on Burns’ own El Burno Records in December 2021. Relentless shows and touring in support of Discordian brought both growth and turbulence, with multiple lineup shifts along the way.
By Fall 2022, drummer DerekVaive (Ommnus) joined the ranks, followed by vocalist Corey Staley (A Damn Shame) solidifying the new lineup in Fall 2024. Now armed with fresh material and a renewed sense of purpose, RADIAN is set to hit the road again in Spring 2025, delivering their brand of sludgy doom with unrelenting force.
RADIAN is currently in the later stages of completing work on their third LP. Stand by for updates as the album is prepared for release in the months ahead.
KING WITCH are releasing their much awaited brand new full length album III on June 27, 2025. The album displays a phenomenal leap forward in terms of songwriting and a massive production.
Formed in late 2015 on the streets of old Edinburgh, King Witch play a lead-heavy brew of rock and doom that draws comparisons ranging from Black Sabbath and Candlemass to Soundgraden and Alice In Chains. The band quickly earned themselves a reputation as a formidable live act and have toured the UK and Europe extensively with the likes of Green Lung as well as playing festivals such as Sweden Rock, Desertfest and Bloodstock..
After self releasing their extremely well received Shoulder of Giants ep, the band were picked up by Listenable Records through which they released their debut album Under The Mountain in 2018 followed by Body Of Light in 2020.
2025 sees the band return with their third and most accomplished full length album, III, featuring Andrew Scott on drums. Produced and mixed by guitarist Jamie Gilchrist in his own studio, Nameless City Sound, III retains the doom and heavy rock elements that characterise their earlier releases while ramping up the energy and focusing on more concise songwriting. The album focuses on where the human race is right now, our apparent desire to destroy ourselves, and the mental struggle to deal with it and carry on living a positive life.
Debut single ‘Swarming Flies’ is scheduled for Friday the 2nd of May, 2025. Don’t miss out on this crushing new track!
