Here’s what the legendary Mantas from Venom Inc. had to say about SURVIVE‘s live potential:

I had the pleasure and honor of touring Europe with Survive and they proved themselves to be a valuable asset to the touring package. I can say without hesitation or reservations that they were most definitely my favorite band on the tour. Incredibly nice and gracious guys who obviously loved their music and delivered every single night. I gave them the nickname ‘The Japanese Machine Head’ a song that they played at every sound check became the tour anthem because of its wonderful chorus structure. Melody, hook lines and brutally heavy guitar riffs define this amazing band who deserve global recognition. Maximum Respect from Jeff (Mantas).”

EMPTY THRONE – Announce New Line-up Featuring Members of CANNIBAL CORPSE and SUFFOCATION

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on April 21, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Melodic/blackened death metal band EMPTY THRONE is once again on the move with plans of sending even larger ripples through the metal world by turning an already impressive lineup into a full-fledged supergroup. With writing underway for their upcoming full-length, EMPTY THRONE has added Jack Owen (Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Six Feet Under) and Mike Smith (Suffocation) to the fold.

One of the most renowned guitarists in metal today, Jack will be providing his legendary riffage that helped define the last three decades of death metal. Mike will take the helm behind the kit delivering his unmistakably brutal drumming style. The two veterans will join returning EMPTY THRONE members C.R. Petit (Angerot), Jason Ellsworth (Angerot), and Michael J Pardi (Possessed, Draconis, Ritual) for what promises to be an absolute powerhouse of an album. Stay tuned for the next hellish chapter of EMPTY THRONE!

EMPTY THRONE formed in 2020 with C.R. Petit and Jason Ellsworth of Angerot joining forces with Mike Pardi (Possessed, Draconis, Ritual) and Gabe Seeber (Kennedy Veil, Decrepit Birth, Black Crown Initiate, Abbath) with a goal of creating a unique blend of Death, Black and Thrash Metal. The styling of EMPTY THRONE has been referred to as “Hellish Blackened Deathrash”. It draws upon the violent propulsion of 80’s thrash. The agile savagery of mid-90s Gothenburg-style death metal. Rabid vocals blended with dark atmospherics of late-stage black metal. The result was a ferocious onslaught of speed, power, and outright aggression backed with deadly hooks and grooves. The members of EMPTY THRONE are all veteran hell-bringers and have deep lineage in the extreme metal genre.

EMPTY THRONE partnered with the upcoming label Wise Blood Records to release their three-track 23-minute debut EP, Glossolalia, in 2021 to rave reviews. The EP quickly sold out and proved the band a force to be heard.

Dreamferno‘s new song is a reverence to songwriters’ close relative who passed away after a long struggle with terminal illness. Hagne is all about purity and virtue. One can only hope that everyone has at least one person in their life, who passes on the idea of good morals and kindness for the next generation.

The song starts off with a beautiful Disney -style intro wich transforms into a vibrant symphonic rock interpretation accompanied with vocals by Enni Rautiainen and Samuli Rimmi. Krzysztof Dobosiewicz is responsible for the exquisite arranging of the orchestrations. Composing and lyrics are from the pen of Samuli.

SKULL FIST’s impending new full-length Paid In Full will see release on April 22nd via Atomic Fire Records. In advance of the record’s official unveiling, today the band has issued a special track-by-track breakdown of the album. Paid In Full will be available on CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited edition boxset, and digitally. Find preorders at THIS LOCATION.

Since their steely inception back in 2006, dungeon keeper Zach Schottler (AKA Zach Slaughter) and his shredding band of reckless companions have released three classic heavy metal almanacs, have eaten more dust than is good for their health, have endured various hardships and propped up countless beers at countless bars in countless cities. But now, after fifteen years of metal and mayhem, Schottler is coming into his own with the proverbially titled Paid In Full album, a heavy metal wonder of the defiant middle finger variant.

Delivering tales of steel and legends from the underworld, Paid In Full was written at home, recorded at Vespa Studios near Toronto, and encompasses Schottler’s sonic efforts of the past two years. With heads held high, empty pockets, and enough gas to make the next show, SKULL FIST has won 2022. Don’t mess with the FIST. The FIST is the law!

Paid In Full Track Listing:

  1. Paid In Full
  2. Long Live The Fist
  3. Crush Kill Destroy
  4. Blackout
  5. Madman
  6. For The Last Time
  7. Heavier Than Metal
  8. Warrior Of The North

Swedish Hard Rock Band BLISTER BRIGADE Released A New Single And Music Video “Carousel”!

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock music, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , , on April 17, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Band pic by: Adam Björk

Swedish Skellefteå-based hard rockers Blister Brigade released a new stand-alone single and music video Carousel. Beside from being a groovy and heavy rock song, it is a homage to the fabulous ink studio Carousel Tattoo.

WATCH Carousel music video: https://youtu.be/antMat-f1Qk and/or below:

The band comments:
” ”Carousel” is in its foundation a heavy rock song. But with this one we decided to also get a little experimental. Since this song was written partly as a tribute to a tattoo studio, we found inspiration in circuses, carnivals and of course, tattoos. With these keywords in mind we just had to go outside our comfort zone and get a little nutty. It’s also the first song we’ve written together from scratch and it’s safe to say that we think this jam ended up really awesome. “

Album cover by Sanna (Carousel Tattoo)

BIOGRAPHY:
Blister Brigade was formed in 2010 by guitarist/vocalist Gustav Lund and drummer Jerker Avander. Joined by guitarist Cristoffer Strand and bassist Simon Lundström, the band started jamming on some ideas. With inspiration from bands like Motörhead and Skid Row Blister Brigade quickly developed a raw but yet a heavy and solid sound.

In 2013 the band released their debut album ”To Serve And Punish”. The album was well recieved and the gigs started rolling in. Blister Brigade’s second album ”The Executioner” was released in December 2016, and by that time drummer Jerker Avander had already left the band, leaving the drum chair to Rickard Lundmark (Zonaria, ex-Feral). Before the release of the E.P ”Pissed, Outraged And Outgunned” in 2018, Simon stepped down as the bands bass player. After a thrilling audition shortly after, bassist Anders Gustavsson joined Blister Brigade.

With the new line-up, the spark was lit again and after playing some gigs the band hit the studio once again to record their third full-length album. ”Slugfest Supreme” was released in February 2020 and with a harder, faster and heavier sound than before, Blister Brigade got ready to hit the stages. As for so many other bands and artists, the pandemic ruined all plans. But the band didn’t give up and stayed intact throughout the recent bleak years. With the brand new single ”Carousel”, Blister Brigade is more alive and rock’n’roll fueled than ever.

Line-up:
Gustav Lund: Lead and rythm guitar, vocals
Cristoffer Strand: Lead and rhythm guitar
Anders Gustavsson: Bass
Rickard Lundmark: Drums

Blister Brigade – Carousel:
Composed by Gustav Lund, Cristoffer Strand, .Anders Gustavsson & Rickard Lundmark.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by Max Malmer at Malmer Productions in October 2021.

Epic Power Metal Outfit ADAMANTIS Releasing “The Daemon’s Strain” EP on Cruz Del Sur Music In June

Posted in 1950's rock guitarists, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on April 16, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Boston (MA) – Epic Power Metal outfit Adamantis will release The Daemon‘s Strain EP June 10 on digital, CD, and vinyl MLP formats through Cruz Del Sur Music.

The EP’s first single, “Storm The Walls,” is streaming now at: adamantismetal.bandcamp.com/track/storm-the-walls

The Daemon‘s Strain is a triumphant, exploratory four-song EP from one of America’s best up-and-coming power metal bands! Hot off the heels of their brilliant full-length debut album Far Flung Realm, Massachusetts metallers Adamantis return with a striking collage of heroic power metal mixed with symphonic rock!

Already a cult curiosity via their 2018 Thundermark EP debut and initial self-release of their 2020 Far Flung Realm first full-length, Adamantis quickly entered the collective global melodic metal conscience when they signed with Cruz Del Sur Music. The first order of business was to re-release Far Flung Realm. In doing so, Adamantis was immediately thrust to the top of various “best newcomer” lists — proper accolades for an album that so brilliantly recaptured the spirit of 1990s European power metal.

Looking to strike quickly and with unexpected time on their hands thanks to the pandemic, Adamantis is back with the four-song The Daemon’s Strain EP.

Line-up:

Jeff Stark – Vocals
Javier Estrada – Guitar
Teddy Shao – Guitar
Evgeny Gromovoy – Drums

Drums and vocals for The Daemon’s Strain were tracked at Kennedy Studios in Burlington, Massachusetts with producer/engineer Steve Aliperta; all instruments were laid down at the respective home studios of guitarists Javier Estrada, Jeff Taft and bassist Cody Pelchat. (Pelchat and Taft have since left Adamantis to focus on other projects.)

Leveraging the free-form “anything goes” nature of the EP format, Adamantis constructed The Daemon’s Strain as a musical journey across three different landscapes leading to a final destination: the title song, the band’s 13-minute interpretation of the Olde English ballad, “House Carpenter.” The EP starts with “Storm the Walls,” a song that in the band’s own words, “is a statement of our intentions” and definite inclusion in their live set. “Dark Moon Goddess” is perhaps the band’s most progressive and Gothic number to date, while “Thundermark” (the first-ever Adamantis song) is refreshed and rebooted with new vocals from Jeff Stark.

The centerpiece of The Daemon’s Strain is the title track. Leaning closer to a classical symphonic rock song but still rooted in traditional heavy metal, “The Daemon’s Strain (House Carpenter)” is a fully-immersive sonic landscape that faithfully paints the story of the married lady who, seduced by the devil, abandons her husband and child to find death at sea and meet the dark and low hills of Hell. However, as the cover art represents, Adamantis does not embrace a moralistic take on the story but instead sees it as a tale of empowerment. The band interprets that she decides to break free from the chains of home life. Then, in their imagination, she fully embraces her new fate as an immortal, beautiful and lethal demon, portrayed on the cover — and also featured as the Dark Moon Goddess.

No longer one of American power metal’s best-kept secrets, Adamantis has crafted an EP of depth and triumph — a sterling display of memorable, anthemic melodic metal. It is the next logical step for a band that has displayed that the sky is the limit through two EPs and one triumphant full-length.

2. Dark Moon Goddess

3. Thundermark

4. The Daemon’s Strain (House Carpenter)

Hop into the passenger’s seat and let Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE 69 EYES take you on a wild ride through a sweltering Summer night in the city! With twelve albums under their belts and several number one chart positions in Finland, THE 69 EYES are back with a catchy new single — the first of several new tracks to be released in the coming months. Remaining true to their credo “Goth ‘n’ roll will never die!,” the band is currently in the studio recording their lucky thirteenth offering to be released in 2023. But fans need not wait any longer to hear new sounds from the crypt…

Comments guitarist Bazie of “Drive,” “The inspiration came from the same pool of music I have always liked, mostly from the ‘80s. I never plan anything; I just grab my guitar and see what comes up. We jammed a lot more as a band this time and came up with song ideas from all the guys. ‘Drive’ started from one little riff, which I had for a long time. It took a while, but it was worth it. It still sounds exiting and that was the goal.”

Adds singer Jyrki 69, “Bazie delivered this music and I was blown away by how fresh it felt again. It sounded like some rock radio stuff! Our songs are on daily rotation on the rock channels here in Finland, but they are the ones that we did fifteen years ago. So, I thought that we could have some fresh options now; let’s take the airwaves! ‘Drive’ is a traditional 69 EYES sounding, fast rocker with a Sunset Strip slap on it!”

“Drive” was directed by Vicente Cordero and is viewable at THIS LOCATION. Stream or download the single at THIS LOCATION.

Additionally, THE 69 EYES recently announced tours in Europe in November and December 2022, with industrial pioneers Ministry and horror rockers Wednesday 13. Stay up to date with the band’s upcoming live dates HERE.

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on April 9, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

From Rat Pak Records:

Building upon the success of 2017’s release Ignite My Insanity, rock and metal supergroup Projected today announces Hypoxia, the band’s third studio album out on June 24th via Rat Pak Records. The upcoming album features 13 brand new songs from the heralded quartet consisting of Sevendust guitarist John Connolly, Alter Bridge/Creed drummer Scott Phillips, Sevendust bassist Vince Hornsby and Tremonti guitarist EricEROCKFriedman.

Guitarist and singer John Connolly says, “To me, personally, it feels like the most cohesive work we’ve done especially considering it’s the first time we all went in the studio together. That in itself had a huge impact on the songwriting process. And it’s taken some time to finally get released but it feels like we’ve matured quite a bit as a band.”

Hypoxia shows a band building on its established foundation while incorporating new and exciting elements. Following the brooding album intro “Consequences,” listeners are then greeted to the crushing guitar riffs of John Connolly to open the galloping track “Dead Weight,” setting the stage for the rest of the album’s journey. Projected shows great range on this latest offering, establishing hooky and singable moments in songs like “Stain,” “Take Aim,” and “Scars” while expertly crafting classic nu-metal styles in “The Thing That’s Real,” and “Hypoxia.” Songs like “Dark” and “Death Is Mostly Permanent” showcase the band’s ability to slow things down while still keeping a foot-stomping pulse. Fans will be sure to be headbanging in no time to the latest offering by these rock and metal stalwarts. Official release date is Friday June 24, 2022.

CADAVERIA: Italian Horror Metal Veterans Join Time To Kill Records – New Album “Emptiness” To See May Release

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, horror, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on April 4, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Time To Kill Records officially welcomes Italy’s CADAVERIA to the label’s roster, announcing their highly anticipated sixth album, “Emptiness”, for May release.

Whether you call them horror, gothic or dark metal, one thing is certain: in their 20+ years career Cadaveria have become one of the most iconic bands of the Italian metal scene.

The “Emptiness” cover art, created by Roberto Toderico (Facebook / Instagram), has been revealed. Time To Kill Records will release the album on double LP, CD, cassette and digital formats on May 27th 2022. Watch for more album details, singles, preorders, and more to post in the weeks ahead.

CADAVERIA is the creative alter-ego of Italian-based metal singer Raffaella Rivarolo, better known by her stage name Cadaveria, one of the first women to hit the extreme metal scene in the early Nineties.

CADAVERIA band was founded in 2001 by Cadaveria herself and drummer Marçelo Santos, to freely express themselves as musicians and extreme artists.

Since CADAVERIA’s debut album The Shadows’ Madame (2002) the band’s style is labeled Horror Metal. Their personal sound is imbued with gloomy and sinister atmospheres and it mixes Black Metal with classical Heavy Metal, Death Metal and Gothic influences. The lyrics, scheming, hermetic and introspective, mirror the dark soul and the vexed personality of the singer Cadaveria.

2021 is a meaningful one for CADAVERIA band, as the band celebrate its 20 years of activity. A career that boasts five full length albums, some reissues, an EP (with Necrodeath), a retrospective double DVD and a huge support from fans of Central America, where CADAVERIA have made a series of headlining tours, between 2007 and 2015.

From 2012 on, with the release of the most recent albums Horror Metal and Silence, CADAVERIA have been engaged in many live dates that have seen them protagonists of different stages in Germany, France, Belgium, Romania, as well as numerous Italian shows as headliner and in support of Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy and many more.

CADAVERIA have recently released a series of new singles, that mark the band’s return to the scene after a long pause, during which the singer had to be treated for cancer.
