For longtime fans of UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER, “Blindfold” feels like an old acquaintance: previously heard in an orchestral version on the 2020 We Are One album, the song now returns in a gripping new rock version. With its successful blend of emotion and classic heavy rock atmosphere, “Blindfold” is one of the most emotional moments on the current DATOG album Babylon, released on October 3rd, 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM).
Filmed entirely in stylish black and white, the music video captures the raw emotion and powerful interplay of the band perfectly, showing DATOG more intimate, direct, and sensitive than ever before.
Manuela’s heartfelt vocals and Mathias’ classical concert guitar turn “Blindfold” into a stirring rock ballad that reaches its ultimate climax in the final chorus with Udo’s unmistakable voice. With “Blindfold”, DATOG not only offer longtime Udo Dirkschneider fans a welcome reunion with this very special track, but will also win over many new fans through this video.
Peter Goalby was the lead singer of Uriah Heep, Trapeze and Fable and has now retired from the music industry after an illustrious career.
Peter had been living with the knowledge he’d recorded a solo album just after leaving Uriah Heep yet it was only when a poorly labelled DAT was spotted, at a storage facility over 30 years later, that the lost album was found.
The album was finished when his Uriah Heep bandmates Mick Box (guitar) and John Sinclair (keys) added the final overdubs to the tracks in 2025. The 9-track album was personally overseen (from tape transfer, mastering and artwork) by Peter Goalby.
Peter Goalby explained the background to the release: “In 1987 I was offered a recording and publishing contract with RAK Records just after I’d left Uriah Heep. I thought these songs would be very commercial in the 1980s and Smokie recorded Fallin’ Apart. I later found out the master tapes had been lost and I silently carried the disappointment that music I’d put my heart and soul into was gone forever. Never say never!”
The lost album’s release follows the successful release of Easy With The Heartaches and then I Will Come Runnin’. Don’t Think This Is Over is OUT NOW from all good retailers:
Helsinki-based progressive melodic death metal band NUMENTO unleashes their new single “Wrath” from their upcoming EP, a relentless, hard-hitting track exploring the dark side of human nature. Inspired by people forming abusive “relationships” with AI chatbots, the lyrics take the abuser’s perspective to question empathy, control, and violence in the digital age.
Listen to the single on music services: (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music etc.) – https://push.fm/fl/numento-wrath
The band’s guitarists, Atte Asikainen and Aleksi Vehmassalo, tell a bit more about the new single. Aleksi states the following about composing and producing the song: “We started writing the song with the idea of making Numento’s heaviest song to date, one that would showcase our death metal influences. That’s what the song turned out to be, but we also added a few clean vocal phrases, albeit doubled with growls. Still, the song is our most aggressive song to date.”
Atte Asikainen continues about the production: “We continued the production together with German producer Chris Herrle to ensure that the world-class quality and impact familiar from our third album would also be present in the new music. However, this time we used less synths and focused more on the core sound of the band.”

“In times when despair overflows human hearts… when the chasm of strife between civilizations widens… when loyalty to ideologies tears blood ties apart… when the world stands still, poised for the final leap of prolonged self-destruction… We can draw strength solely from internal sources, which are filled only by the multifaceted power of Death Metal…“
– Eximperitus

Finding Consistency in the Fourth Quadrant of Eternity. V. The Untimely Fruit of the Unsaid. VI. Golden Chains for the Construction of Individual Greatness. VII. UK death metal band UNBURIER has returned with a vengeance on their latest single, “Survive the Vermin“. The new song introduces the band’s upcoming EP, As Time Awaits, with the appropriate blend of ferocity and spellbinding technicality. Vocalist and guitarist Ben Champion shows off a viscerally emotive vocal range, skillfully punctuating his mid-range snarls with screeching highs for maximum impact.
Bassist Stan Mitchell and drummer Kim Hughes lay the foundation for the song’s intensity with a punchy, driving rhythm section. Finally, guitarist Blake Hibberd propels the momentum forward with a relentless barrage of twisting, turning, shredding leads. The lyrics of “Survive The Vermin” develop themes of purpose and identity on the EP, through a first-person account of a cosmic, immortal warrior.
Surrendering flesh for steel, the narrator struggles to detach themselves from the sensations they thought to have discarded. The lyrics ask if, when we give ourselves wholly to one purpose, it is worth sacrificing the simplicity of everyday life. Paying homage to sci-fi author Nate Crowley and absurdist philosophy, “Survive The Vermin” provides the most direct declaration of the themes behind the EP.
About UNBURIER: Hailing from the south of England, UNBURIER stormed onto the death metal scene in the summer of 2022 with their debut EP Twisted Existence. The EP showcased the band’s undeniable technical abilities, in addition to their raw and harrowing sound. In 2024, UNBURIER returned with their follow-up EP, Nebulous, on which the band refined their songwriting and technical prowess. On this release, the band ventured even deeper into the realms of their death metal influences, among which they count DEATH, NECROPHAGIST, and REVOCATION.
Having conquered stages alongside the likes of SANGUISUGABOGG, CRYPTA, and PARTY CANNON, as well as making notable appearances at Bloodstock Open Air and Incineration Festival, UNBURIER continues to carve a path alongside giants of the death metal genre. Their upcoming third EP, As Time Awaits, sees UNBURIER blending old and new-school death metal styles with technicality, hooks, and razor-sharp songwriting. Carrying the torch of the classic death metal sound into a new age, As Time Awaits is certain to enthrall longtime fans of the genre.

Extreme metal duo Gravewitch have released their brand-new music video “Mistress Hate,” a blistering visual companion to their self-titled album, which dropped this past June via Rock Sun Records. The release marks a defining moment for the band, showcasing their evolution from raw beginnings to a fully realised professional sound.
Formed in 2013 by childhood friends Chris Fleming (guitar/vocals) and Andrew Ingraham (drums), Gravewitchwas born out of a shared passion for heavy music and a desire to carve their own path in the underground scene.
“We’ve been best friends since childhood and decided to create Gravewitch when we were sophomores in high school. This band has always been about pushing ourselves creatively and staying true to our vision,” says Fleming.
Fusing elements of Black Metal, Thrash, Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal, and Cascadian Black Metal into a sound that is both punishing and atmospheric, Gravewitch is relentless, melodic, heavy, intriguing, and old-school.
Gravewitch’s self-titled album takes listeners on a dark and diverse journey through ten tracks, each with its own distinct theme and musical identity. From the haunting portrayal of early 1900s insane asylums in Damnable Evil to the personal nightmare of sleep paralysis in Phantasm, the band blends thrash, black, and melodic elements with precision.
Track Listing: 1. Damnable Evil (4:24) 2. Phantasm (4:21) 3. Mistress of Hate (4:13) 4. Ritual Reanimation (4:35) 5. Atmospheric Alterations (4:31) 6. White City Devil (4:00) 7. Woodland Trance (5:09) 8. Systematic Fallout (4:21) 9. Operation Overlord (5:27) 10. The Once Sacred Gift of Life (3:32) Album Length: 44:38
Mistress of Hate revisits the brutality of witch trials, while Ritual Reanimation summons undead armies through thrash-driven intensity. Nature and atmosphere dominate Atmospheric Alterations, contrasting with the chilling true-crime narrative of White City Devilabout serial killer H.H. Holmes.
Woodland Trance evokes haunted forests with cascadian black metal textures, and Systematic Falloutdelivers pure thrash chaos alongside the band’s first-ever guitar solo. War themes emerge in Operation Overlord, immersing listeners in the chaos of D-Day, while The Once Sacred Gift of Lifecloses the album with grief, mortality, and the origins of Gravewitch’s sound. Together, the record showcases the duo’s ability to fuse extreme metal subgenres into a cohesive yet varied listening experience.
“Written during the chaos of 2020, our self-titled album reflects the uncertainty of the times. We had no idea if these songs were ever going to see the light of day. The chaotic energy of the world matched the diversity of the music, so we embraced different lyrical topics that had nothing to do with each other,” adds Fleming.
The new video “Mistress Hate”captures the raw energy and occult-inspired aesthetic that defines Gravewitch. Filmed in South Wales, United Kingdom by Ritual Video, the clip features the same actress who played “The Witch” in the band’s debut video “Circle of Power” from their first album The Summoning.
Recommended for fans of Gravewitch‘s self-titled album, released on June 18, 2025, via Rock Sun Records, is available on all digital platforms and CD.

Massacre Records Classix Shape Edition is a series of 10 die-cut CD’s. This ANVIL five song compilation is #10 in the series, released back in 1999.
I bought this CD in used condition, about 10 years ago, at an independent record store that’s no longer in business. If I remember correctly, the price I paid for this ANVIL gem was below 10 dollars. You can find this CD online for 15 dollars or lower, right now. It doesn’t have a front cover in the jewel case, with liner notes only on the back cover. I’m unsure if a front cover existed and still researching if one did.
I never played this oddity either in my car CD player or my home stereo system; for fear of a mishap due to its unique die-cut shape. Written on the back cover, it states: “Not suitable for disc changers and car CD players.”
Its existence as a collectible is good enough for me!

The CD itself is in fabulous condition, with no scratches or signs of wear. Looks like any prior owner didn’t take a chance playing it either.
Letters of each volume (10 in all) of this series, on the CD spines, together in order spell: METAL&MORE. Thank you for checking out my ANVIL CD and visiting Metal Odyssey. I appreciate every visitor! Metal be thy name. – Stone
After bringing early recordings from Twilight Moon and Degenerate back to life, Finnish metal icon Mathias Lillmåns, known by most as the vocalist of Finntroll and …And Oceans, now unveils the central monument of his archive project: the most expansive collection of recovered material to date. Together with the release of the album, also out now is the video of the song “Sanguine Sadism“.
With Remains, released Friday 28.11.2025 via Stormbound Records, Mathias Lillmåns presents the first full-length retrospective of his early, unreleased and long-forgotten recordings: a 17-track anthology spanning material from the bands Twilight Moon, Remains, Degenerate, Chthonian, Vere and Observant.
Where the earlier archival EPs gave glimpses into Lillmåns’ formative years, Remains is the complete excavation – a three-decade timeline of raw beginnings, stylistic pivots and the gradual emergence of the voice that would later become a defining part of modern Finnish metal.
“Most listeners see me as a singer”, says Lillmåns, “but with this compilation I wanted to show the transformation I went through, from being an instrumentalist that wanted to stay in the shadows to becoming the front man I’m known as today.”
Drawing from sessions some of which were presumed lost to time – rescued from basements, rediscovered on MiniDiscs, pulled from unlabeled tapes and forgotten hard drives, Remains is an inspiring musical story of trial, instinct and evolution. Across these recordings, listeners will hear Lillmåns finding his voice, from early bass-only roles, to reluctant vocalist, to a fully realized frontman.
For listeners who want deeper context, the CD edition includes personal liner notes by Lillmåns himself. He recounts the improvised reel-to-reel beginnings of Twilight Moon, the garage-recorded rawness of Remains, and the early studio ambitions of Degenerate. He reflects on the intentionally abrasive spirit of Chthonian, the one-night whirlwind that became Vere, and the sharpened, self-produced approach of Observant. Together, these notes sketch a concise but revealing portrait of the creative evolution that shaped his earliest years.
TRACK-LIST: 01 Twilight Moon – Wanderlust 02 Twilight Moon – Spirit Lord 03 Twilight Moon – Shattered Reflections 04 Twilight Moon – Stuck in Eternity (Live 1999) 05 Remains – Forced into Lies 06 Remains – Leaving the Path of the Blind 07 Remains – The Life That Passed (Slowly Fading) 08 Degenerate – Blinded 09 Degenerate – Displacement 10 Degenerate – Lost in Glass and Stone 11 Chthonian – Ill 12 Chthonian – Larvae, Nymph, Decay 13 Chthonian – Sanguine Sadism 14 Vere – The Silver Lining 15 Vere – Ignite, Enflame 16 Observant – As Corroded as You 17 Observant – Still Nameless

In celebration of the one-year anniversary of The Last Will and Testament, OPETH is proud to unveil a brand-new animated video crafted to bring the album’s intricate story to life. Created by Absynthe Moon Media, the film offers a visual interpretation of the narrative that has intrigued fans since the record’s release in November 2024.
The animated music video for“§3“returns to the central family story at the heart of the album. Set during the reading of a 1920s patriarch’s will, the video captures the shifting relationships and subtle tensions that shape the storyline, while allowing viewers to interpret the finer details for themselves.
Guided by Mikael Åkerfeldt’s story and concept, the visual narrative enhances the album’s core themes: identity fractured by lies, legacies built on instability, and the slow unraveling of those who once believed they understood their place within the family. The result is a stirring and immersive complement to one of OPETH’s most ambitious works.

Finnish thrashers Krushor are set to release their debut EP Taste of Hatred on January 9th 2026 via Inverse Records. The second single “Taste of Hatred” is unleashed now and it’s available here: https://push.fm/fl/krushor-taste
The band comments: “Taste of hatred is about a situation where a person takes a stand for someone who’s pushed ’em down long enough to make that person retaliate. What happens, when beaten and oppressed person decides to stand their ground and says they’ve had enough and gives back all they had to endure. What kind is this persons actual hatred if just a taste of it can turn tables and make the one who made them suffer have taste of their own medicine.”

BIOGRAPHY:
The band found its current identity through shared musical tastes, playing together, and a shared hobby. We are a group of people who enjoy making and playing music that works for all of us. A big part of this is that composing, writing lyrics, and editing songs is open to everyone. All songs and compositions are created by the whole group, not based on one person’s vision or goal.
Our influences definitely come from older metal, but that doesn’t matter, because mixing genres actually adds a lot to our music, there’s no one right way to do things. Krushor’s goal is to make music that sounds good and at the same time talk about the difficult things that are part of life. For many people, music can be therapeutic, and if even one person feels that way about our music, we feel we have succeeded.

The veteran likes of Saxon, Diamond Head, and Motörhead (three of Metallica’s favorite bands), are joined by rising stars such as Tailgunner and Swedish prog metallers Soen to create a who’s who of heavy music, with each performer lending their unique sound to one classic track. The Almighty deliver a particularly confrontational cover of “The Four Horsemen,” a release that saw the hard rockers return to the studio with their founding lineup for the first time since 1991.
Contributions from thrash giants Testament, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, and New Wave Of British Heavy Metal linchpins Tygers Of Pan Tang show the label looking beyond their own artists to amass the greatest lineup possible. Joining the super star lineup are the legendary Raven (closing with the thundering anthemic “Metal Militia”) who were part of Metallica’s first-ever tour, 1983’s famous Kill ‘Em All For One venture.
