A public memorial for former Rigor Mortis and Warbeast vocalist BRUCE CORBITT will be held on Saturday March 9th at the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth, Texas.
CORBITT passed away on January 25th following an extensive and tireless battle with esophageal cancer. He was 56 years old. CORBITT was diagnosed in May 2017 and kept his family, friends, and fans up to date with the many trials and tribulations of his journey through regular open and honest Facebook Live updates. A true inspiration, CORBITT remained hopeful and determined even in the face of some of the grimmest circumstances and maintained his courage, drive, and positive nature though his final days.
Beyond playing a pivotal rule within the thrash/speed metal scene for over thirty years, CORBITT was a dedicated hearthealth advocate following the passing of Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia, who died of a heart attack in 2012. CORBITT, who himself struggled with heart disease, would go on to perform Rigor Mortis material with the band’s remaining members under the moniker Wizards Of Gore in tribute to Scaccia. CORBITT took home the Best Documentary Rotscar Award at Housecore Horror Fest 2014 for his Rigor Mortis Documentary Welcome To Your Funeral which documents the band’s earliest beginnings through their signing with Capitol Records in 1987 and had been working a book which will be released initially as a limited hardcore edition with all proceeds going to the support of the CORBITT family. Stay tuned for details.
Reads the public memorial page, “We will come together to celebrate and remember a great man who touched the hearts of so many people in this world. We will show our love and support for his wife Jeanna, his daughter Chyna, his stepson Lyric, and BRUCE‘s amazing mother Glenda. We will celebrate in the most beautiful way possible by honoring BRUCE‘s final wishes to make his memorial just the way he wanted it. Additional details on special presentations, guest musicians, and other surprises are still being worked out. Stay tuned and You Know Damn Well!”

CORBITT played what he thought would be his final show with Warbeast — a special set at the annual Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards Ceremony where the band was inducted into the 2018 Fort Worth Music Hall Of Fame — last July, at the time noting, “I’m really excited and thankful to the Fort Worth Weekly for showing us this much appreciation. I’m proud that I’m even feeling good enough right now to be able to attempt it. But I do know my limitations and I will be careful. All I know is I get to experience that feeling of being on stage again… and that’s why I keep on fighting. Because good things do finally happen if you can just hang in there long enough. You know damn well!”
The performance was outstanding and CORBITT continued showing signs of improvement. So much so, the band had planned to release a special Warbeast EP celebrating his strength and determination. Warbeast would play another show in October as headliners of Vulgarfest 3 at the Ridglea Theater where CORBITT again patrolled the stage against all odds. Some weeks later however, doctors found the cancer had spread again and CORBITT‘s health went on a steady decline. In CORBITT‘s honor, Warbeast will be releasing a box set which will include audio of first live show under the name Warbeast as well as video of that final Warbeast performance. Details to be released in the weeks to come.

CORBITT’s Warbeast bandmates reflect on his passing:
Scott Shelby: “BRUCE and I have been friends since the late ’80s and were early pioneers in the Dallas/Fort Worth metal scene and later joined forces to form Warbeast. BRUCE and I worked together as a team, or as he would say the dynamic duo. We both had a vision and our own skills to make it work and that’s how we did everything that you do in a band and it worked out great for us. Unfortunately, you don’t notice all the great things in a person until they die and what my friend did for Texas metal and our scene and branching out to the rest of the world is a huge loss in itself let alone all he did for others in need; doing many benefit gigs for various people… everything he and we did was done in a big style with flawless production! I could go on and on but all our peers in the business know what I’m talking about. There is a huge hole in my life, in our scene, and in the metal industry. He was a great man. I miss you, BRUCE. We had so much unfinished business. Rest in Beast.”
Joey “Blue” Gonzalez: “BRUCE CORBITT was my bandmate one of my best friends. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his help and guidance. He will always be with me on and off stage. We all will continue to share the music he created so the world will never forget. CORBITT Forever.”
Drew Shoup: “I was 17 years old and it was 2012. I was still in high school at a small ski resort town in Colorado called Crested Butte. There was absolutely no metal there and when Down/Warbeast came to Denver (which was five hours away) I knew I had to go. I hadn’t ever seen either band; I just knew of them through following Housecore. That was the night that completely changed my life. After experiencing it I knew that THAT was what I wanted to do. Warbeast was so high energy and instantly became my favorite band. I was obsessed. Fast forward two years later and they had lost their guitar player. This was my chance. I moved all the way from Colorado down to DFW just to try out and join this band. It was so surreal jamming along with these dudes that I idolized (and still do). BRUCE brought in a 19-year-old kid and pretty much a complete stranger to join his band. I know he had so many other choices in this town that he could’ve picked but he gave me a chance and had faith in me. BRUCE made me feel so welcome in the Dallas scene and made me feel like a part of a family. He truly cared about people and he was a great man. He was always doing benefit shows in the scene and always involved. Watching him struggle and suffer in pain was the worst thing I’ve experienced yet. Nobody deserves to go through that. Especially someone like BRUCE. Playing alongside him and working with him was absolutely surreal and a dream come true. He was such a great bandmate, brother, father, son, singer, friend, and person in general. I would do anything to play one more show with him. I feel for his wife Jeanna, his daughter Chyna, and his stepson Lyric. BRUCE is immortal now through his music in Warbeast and Rigor Mortis. He will be missed by everyone. Rest In Peace, Batman.”
Warbeast released their Enter The Arena full-length in 2017 Housecore Records. The record — which featured Corbitt and Shelby alongside then-new-members guitarist Drew Shoup and bassist Lyric Ferchaud — was recorded at Philip H. Anselmo’s Nodferatu’s Lair, mixed by Mike Thompson at the Riff Factory, and mastered by Lee Russell. For physical orders go to THIS LOCATION. Texas horde IMPRECATION will once again lay waste to false metal with eight new tracks of blasphemous black/death metal. The band’s forthcoming full-length, Damnatio Ad Bestias, will be out March 22 on Dark Descent Records.
Album track “Temple of the Foul Spirit” is streaming at: https://youtu.be/yYOPr4SSSEo
IMPRECATION rises again from the blasted lands of Texas with their darkest spell ever, Damnatio Ad Bestias. This album expands upon the themes of their 2013 debut Satanae Tenebris Infinita with deadly results. An aura of true Satanic majesty is unleashed in tracks like, “Temple of the Foul Spirit”, “Morbid Crucifixion”, and “Baptized in Satan’s Blood”. Bludgeoning guitars, battering drums, and haunting keys create an experience that will terrify the unbelievers and convert the uninitiated.
Damnatio Ad Bestias – Track Listing:
IMPRECATION: Ruben Elizondo, Dave Herrera, Danny Hiller, Milton Luna, Jeff Tandy

IMPRECATION Bio:
Formed in 1991, IMPRECATION has become a vaunted institution in the underground, with their now-classic Theurgia Goetia Summa compilation cited by bands across the globe. They have no need for trendy tags like “old school death metal”, for there is simply death metal as it it was intended – evil, dangerous, and crushing. Beware, for the Beast is upon you!

The Metalitalia.com Festival team – Metalitalia.com, Vertigo and Eagle Booking Live Promotion – are very proud to reveal the dates and the first confirmed acts of the 2019 edition of the festival, which will take place once again at the Live Music Club in Trezzo sull’Adda (Milan), Italy.
This time the event will take place over two days in spring: on Saturday 1st June and Sunday 2nd June.
We’re still working on various other things behind the scenes which we’ll bring to you in due course, including the side programme and of course the full line-up and day schedules. In the meantime, we’re extremely happy to be adding some cool bands to the festival with this announcement.
DAY 1 – Saturday, 1st June
The headlining act of the first day of the festival will be Sweden’s ARCH ENEMY! The Michael Amott led band, recently brought to the apex of his success by the charismatic singer Alissa White-Gluz is without a doubt one of the leaders of the modern thrash-death metal scene. ARCH ENEMY will be joined by Italian symohonic death metal masters FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, who are about to release a new and highly anticipated album. The band will perform with an impressive production in an exclusive show on Italian soil. Never the most prolific of bands, nor the most well-known, nevertheless DARKANE have offered some of the most intelligent thrash-death metal throughout the years. For the occasion, the Swedish band will play their masterpiece “Rusted Angel” in its entirety!
DAY 2 – Sunday, 2nd June
The second day of the event will be fully dedicated to hard rock and classic metal. The bill will be topped by Swiss hard rockers GOTTHARD: the band boasts a big following in Italy and they will come down to Milan for a very special show. Co-headliners of this second day will be Sweden’s HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, who are absolute masters at mixing sleaze, glam, metal and catchy choruses. Finally, we are proud to announce another piece of metal and rock history: Phil Campbell, the legendary guitarist of MOTÖRHEAD, who shared the stage with Lemmy for 32 years, will join us for an an explosive show based on recent cuts from his new album under the PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS banner and many MOTÖRHEAD hits!

Indian Death Metal duo PLAGUE THROAT have released their first single off their upcoming EP- ‘Evolutionary Impasse‘. The track entitled ‘The Epoch of Catastrophe II‘ gives fans a glimpse of what the EP packs. Marked with chaotic blast beats, technical riffs often showing melodic passages and monstrous vocals pummeling its way across. This EP promises to divulge into the path of strong technicality yet showing heavy undertones of brutality unlike their previous releases.
The band’s front man Nangsan comments, “This song strongly condemns and questions the misusing and misleading of the masses by utilising the easily accessible stupidity and incoherence of the majoritarian mindset which in turns leads to division among people“.

Boston’s MAGIC CIRCLE returns with their triumphant third LP, Departed Souls. Ending a four-year gap since the band’s acclaimed Journey Blind LP, Departed Souls will see release through 20 Buck Spin. Ahead of its March 29th street date, the label has released a video created for advance single, the album’s opening song and title track, “Departed Souls.”
MAGIC CIRCLE‘s self-titled debut hit the true doom scene like a revelation in 2013. Without hype or hyperbole, the band effortlessly invoked fundamental rock and roll truths putting their own stamp on early heavy metal darkness. Joining 20 Buck Spin for follow-up Journey Blind, the bandagain offered that unmistakable classic sound with natural unforced evolution. On their third LP, Departed Souls, MAGIC CIRCLE presents an expansive hard rock vision, adorning their signature doom with seamless psych and prog ornamentation.
Departed Souls finds MAGIC CIRCLE delving more deeply into ’70s sounds, expanding farther outward from the primordial Iommic matter of their birth. Heavy Sabbathian riffs abound, but MAGIC CIRCLE opens up, stretches out, exposing different shades that recall the moody peaks and valleys of the classic hard rock LPs of that era. Acoustic twelve-string, tablas, and Fender Rhodes appear in lush moments of kaleidoscopic decadence woven into the fabric of the pounding elemental thunder. All the while, vocalist Brendan Radigan seals the deal as one of the premier heavy metal singers of the 21st century, delivering that Wagnerian dynamism and vigor that screams from the heavens and becomes thoroughly controlled in moments of quiet solemnity. The album was recorded and engineered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, mixed by the band’s Chris Corry, and mastered by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham (Black Sabbath, Angel Witch, Saxon, Rory Gallagher).
Though all members are busy with other projects including Innumerable Forms, Sumerlands, Devil’s Dare, Stone Dagger, Lifeless Dark, Missionary Work, Pagan Altar live, and more, when these five men come together in the MAGIC CIRCLE, the chemistry and palpable rock exhilaration reminds us that this band isn’t one destined to die with the herd.
MAGIC CIRCLE has created a video for the LP’s opening song and title track “Departed Souls,” compiling live footage of the band with ritualistic, religious, and spiritual practices.
See MAGIC CIRCLE’s “Departed Souls” video RIGHT HERE and stream the track at all major digital providers including Bandcamp HERE.
20 Buck Spin will issue Departed Souls on LP, CD, cassette, and all digital platforms March 29th. Watch for preorders to be posted in the days ahead. If you regularly spin Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Trouble, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, Pagan Altar, Witchfinder General, early Soundgarden, Judas Priest, Witchcraft, and Saint Vitus, become a part of the MAGIC CIRCLE.
The band will play select festivals and shows throughout 2019, with a performance at Hell Over Hammaburg in Germany on March 1st confirmed. Watch for more information to be released in the weeks ahead.

January 18, 2019 – Today, Double Dragon Records reveals the artwork and release date for Memoirs of an Uprising, the self-produced new album from singer/songwriter/guitarist, Damon Johnson. The album is set for release on March 8, 2019 with pre-orders beginning January 25, 2019. Fans who pre-order Memoirs of an Uprising will receive the album’s debut single, Shivering Shivering, as an instant grat track. Orders for a limited edition Red Vinyl pressing of the album can be placed here.
After incredible runs with the bands he co-founded, Black Star Riders and 90’s chart toppers, Brother Cane, Damon Johnson found himself in spring of 2018 in a surprising position. Johnson had just completed a coast to coast tour with BSR supporting Judas Priest, as well as select reunion performances with Thin Lizzy, when he realized there were two things he couldn’t stop thinking about; his family and his music. Would 2019 finally be the year Johnson gives full focus to the music he kept hearing in his mind, composing an album, a true collection of songs that represented his personal vision, plus have the final say about his tour calendar? The answer was a resounding, YES!
Johnson explains, “After that Priest tour I was feeling anxious about some things: getting older, where my career would be in 10 years, how much time I was continually spending (mostly in foreign countries) away from my wife and our two youngest kids…plus I was sitting on a near completed solo album of the most honest music I’ve ever made. Ignoring some hard truths could not be a part of my deal anymore.” So Johnson made the decision to part ways with Black Star Riders, finish his album, and start over…this time completely on his own name.
The resulting album, Memoirs Of An Uprising is a collection that is both fierce and diverse – a powerful springboard for the musician to start his next chapter. Collaborating with his longtime friend and songwriter, Jim “Johnny Blade” Troglen, Johnson began assembling a group of songs in divergent tempos and grooves that appealed to his musical side and then laced them with lyrical themes of betrayal and revenge. “The first two songs we put together were “Shivering Shivering” and “Dallas Coulda Been A Beatdown” and I knew we were off to a great start,” says Johnson. Throughout Memoirs Of An Uprising there are musical events that are strictly meant to get bodies moving, like “Dallas…” and “Making Peace With This Wicked Beast.” There are some truly challenged literary actors in “We Got A System” and “The World Keeps Spinning Round.” When it is suggested that this could be a concept album, Johnson says, “As much as I’d prefer to steer clear of that label, there is no denying these 10 songs can be consumed in one listen and feel like a complete story.”
Listen to sample of the thunderous first single, “Shivering Shivering” HERE.

In November 2018, US dark melodic metal act WITHERFALL released its much-celebrated second studio album, “A Prelude to Sorrow”. Never resting on its laurels, the group led by the creative duo comprised of vocalist Josheph Michael (Sanctuary) and Jake Dreyer (Iced Earth) now announces the “Vintage” CD, LP, and digital release to be available during the upcoming acoustic tour with Sonata Arctica and released via Century Media Records on March 22nd, 2019.
PRE ORDER AT:
http://www.witherfall.com/merch
WITHERFALL reveals:
“During the sessions for “A Prelude to Sorrow” two cover songs were recorded that showed a different side of WITHERFALL, originally intended to be bonus tracks. A dark and somber version of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers “I Won’t Back Down’ with vocals recorded with Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row) and an epic version of the Helloween classic ‘A Tale That Wasn’t Right’. With the announcement of the “ Sonata Arctica: Acoustic Adventures 2019 w/Witherfall”, it was decided to release these covers along with a few acoustic renditions of favorite WITHERFALL tracks.
Along with new keyboardist Alex Nasla and session percussionist Timbali Cornwell (Smokey Robinson, Earth Wind & Fire ), Joseph Michael, Jake Dreyer and Anthony Crawford retreated to Harmony Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA (Adele, Miley Cyrus) armed with acoustic guitars and bottles of wine to start working on acoustic arrangements for the tour. The sessions were fruitful and two acoustic versions of past WITHERFALL songs were recorded: a medley of ‘Vintage’ and ‘Nobody Sleeps Here…’ (originally on “Nocturnes and Requiems”) and an alternate arrangement of ‘Ode to Despair’. Instead of keeping these as secrets and finally making the rare ‘The Long Walk Home (December)’ also available to an audience outside of Japan, the “Vintage” EP offers a collection of music that shows another dimension of the WITHERFALL sound.”
Mixed and mastered by Chris Zeuss Harris and again featuring artwork by Kristian Wåhlin, “Vintage” will be released as strictly limited, hand-numbered CD digipak, on black and limited coloured vinyl as well as on all digital platforms.
WITHERFALL already have kicked off the presale of “Vintage” at www.witherfall.com/merch whereas the worldwide digital and physical pre-order via Century Media Records starts January 25th. Furthermore, the “Vintage” EP also features new keyboardist Alex Nasla who will join WITHERFALL on the group’s upcoming European tour kicking off March 13th in Oslo, Norway.

JADED HEART – Everytime I listen to this Jaded Heart album, Devil’s Gift, I am uplifted into the high, mystical, powerful and beautiful higher realms of Heavy Metal bliss. This album is so glorious it brings tears to my eyes as I write this line. Yes, it’s one of those albums for me and it happens; I cannot control it. All I can do is let its majestic Metal saturate my Metal soul for eternity.
If you dig Judas Priest, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Metal Inquisitor, DORO and/or Iron Savior, you will be doing yourself proper by buying or streaming this magnificent Jaded Heart album. I suggest BUYING this album on whatever medium you so desire.
Riffs! Riffs! Riffs! There’s so much guitar firepower on this album that it’s insane great! Peter and Masa have that magic going on with their guitars; their tones scream with emotion and I can feel it, man! The backing vocals are wonderful, giving this album and band their Power Metal muscle on top of Power Metal muscles.
Not one average song is on this album. In my Metal opinion, this album is a MUST for every Metal lovers collection of music. Vocalist Johan Fahlberg is top-tier and belongs there. Sonically melodic, powerful and exquisitely written and arranged songs.
Devil’s Gift was released back on March 30th, 2018, via the sensational Massacre Records. There’s no question that this album was one of the very best in Metal for 2018; it’s also one of the very best in Metal, period. My favorite songs: the entire album. Metal be thy name. – Stone
