Metal Underground has partnered with Kaotoxin for the premiere of a teaser video for Memento Mori, the upcoming album from nihilistic Black Metal group THE NEGATION. Check it out at this location.

The sophomore album will be released by Kaotoxin as a 500-copy limited edition deluxe three-panel DigiSleeve CD first press (followed by crystal / jewel box reprint) with 20-page booklet, as well as digitally, on July 7 in North America (July 10 for the rest of the world).

Produced at the Hybreed Studio (Temple of Baal, Glorior Belli) and with artwork by Metastazis (Morbid Angel, Behemoth, Watain), Memento Mori features ten tracks of powerful, heavy, intense and extremely dark Black Metal. But don’t expect straightforward Satan-praise here: there’s far more than meets the eye with THE NEGATION. Their lyrical conceptual is a call to resistance against the so-called élite who are making this world a living Hell. It’s about a stand for liberty, free speech, and free will! Folks that got the chance to witness THE NEGATION on stage during their recent tour with MARDUK and BELPHEGOR will testify their live performance is as extreme as their lyrical content is dark. You’ve been warned!

THE NEGATION will also take part of the second annual KaotoxinFest on December 5th in Lille (FR). Until further details are announced, get crushed by the official music video for the track “Red Wrath” taken from their debut full-length!  Check it out here or below:

The band released its debut full-length Paths of Obedience (2013), was a conceptual statement about their hate for mankind and its submissive behavior, its total lack of consciousness and the fact it should end it all now. The new album is a scream of hate and anger and a call to resistance. Influenced by the legendary acts they’ve been touring or sharing the stages with (Marduk, Belphegor, Inquisition), as well as by other acts such as Dark Funeral or DeathSpell Omega, THE NEGATION will prove itself a world-class act with their second release. Beware!

DEATH TO FALSE METAL FESTIVAL – Inaugural Connecticut Based Metal Fest Announced For August 2015

Death To False Metal Festival - promo flyer - Hamden - CT - 2015 - August - MO

Whiplash, Valkyrie, Imperial Triumphant, Krieg, Secrets Of The Sky, Immortal Bird, Godhunter, Secret Cutter, Nightbitch And More Confirmed

__________________________

This August, the maiden installment of a brand new metal fest will take over Hamden, Connecticut, dubbed DEATH TO FALSE METAL FESTIVAL. Born out of a desire to bring together some of the best touring acts in the world with quality local and regional metal acts, DEATH TO FALSE METAL FESTIVAL hopes to create what we hope will become one of the premiere metal festivals in the US.

Sponsored by Metal Insider and Earsplit PR, the first DEATH TO FALSE METAL gathering is set to take place on Friday, August 14th and Saturday the 15th at The Outer Space & Ballroom in Hamden, just outside of New Haven, Connecticut. Friday night’s lineup will feature thrash legends Whiplash, Valkyrie (Relapse Records), Imperial Triumphant, Nightbitch, Vengeance, and Bedroom Rehab Corporation.

Saturday night will feature USBM stalwarts Krieg (Candlelight Records), Secrets Of The Sky (Metal Blade Records), Immortal Bird, Destroyer Of Light, Godhunter (The Compound Recs/Battleground Records), Secret Cutter, Tomb & Thirst, Grizzlor and Archaic Decapitator.

Tickets for DEATH TO FALSE METAL FESTIVAL go on sale on May 1st at the festival’s Facebook page RIGHT HERE. You can also follow the event on Twitter at @dtfmfestival.

Issues festival curator, Chip McCabe, on the founding of this now annual event, “The name DEATH TO FALSE METAL is actually a bit tongue-in-cheek. The metal scene is littered with way too many people who carry an ‘I’m more underground than you’ attitude, which I find amusing, so the title is dedicated to them. However, the name does reflect that we are looking for a certain aesthetic for the bands that play this festival. Our lineup is fairly eclectic, with thrash, death metal, black metal, doom, grindcore, traditional metal, etc. But we will not stand for generic, cookie-cutter garbage; we want the best of the best, every year.”

MONSTERWORKS – Tracking New Album At Rockfield Studios In Wales

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music with tags , , , on April 27, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Monsterworks - promo band pic - 2015 - #042715MO

Hot off the heels of the recently released The Existential Codex, London’s MONSTERWORKS hit the studio this week to record the follow-up. The band is tracking at Rockfield Studios in Wales. Guitarist/vocalist Jon offered this studio update:

“Here we are in Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire. This is exciting for the band and me personally because some of the greatest acts in rock and metal have recorded here, like my all-time favourite album, Judas Priest’s Sad Wings of Destiny; not to mention Queen (various parts off Sheer Heart Attack and A Night at the Opera) and Black Sabbath with Dio (including swan song The Devil You Know).  More recently Opeth recorded Pale Communion here which is hailed as a sonic masterpiece ….and although we can’t quite afford their full production team, we’ll do our best to come up with a dynamic album that sounds amazing by channelling some of the Rockfield magic!

It is day three and all drums, bass and half the rhythm guitars are down. Vocals will be later today and tomorrow…where I will stand in the same room as Halford when he belted out ‘The Ripper’ nearly 40 years ago. Thanks to our engineer Tim Lewis for a really smooth ride so far.”

The Existential Codex was released February 27th, on Eat Lead & Die Music. The six-track digital version is available as a free download . The 73-minute CD comes with bonus tracks, as well as Blu-Ray of 5.1 Surround and HD stereo mixes on the UK group’s Bandcamp page.

Another in a long line of super metal masterpieces, The Existential Codex is also available for purchase at http://monsterworks.bigcartel.com/.

Cave Of Swimmers Talk About New Album ‘Reflection’

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music with tags , , on April 26, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Cave Of Swimmers - promo band pic - 2015 - #04COSMO99

With the release of Reflection drawing near, it could appear quite apt that the Miami based duo talk about their forthcoming album in more detail. Originally from Venezuela, vocalist and multi instrumentalist G.E. Perez and drummer/percussionist Toro explain the recording process, lyrical content and influences.

Recorded at Weeks Recording Studio in Coral Gables and Crossbridge Studio in Pinecrest, Florida, all the music for Reflection was tracked in a mere 4 days!

“We rehearsed a lot prior to entering the studio to record”, G.E. Perez begins. “So when we finally went into it, we were very focused, rehearsed, tight… we recorded basic tracks (drums, rhythm guitars) in only 2 days. We took 2 more days to do solos and vocals. So the whole album was recorded in only 4 days.”

Speaking about the writing process in terms of anything being pre-empted or whether the album was written more organically G.E. Perez states that “there are spaces for improvisation in our music… the mid section of ‘The Skull’ is a great example… ‘Reflection’, the instrumental, has some improvisation in it as well… Especially from Toro’s part. He played his ass off on this record… In any case, for the most part, we rehearsed and composed in our practice room.” Toro adding that the way they write is very organic. “We get together in a small room and just start playing. Whatever comes out… Then we start following the train of thought into wherever the music takes us.”

Cave Of Swimmers - Reflection - promo album cover pic - 2015

G.E. Perez goes on to talk about the lyrics: “For me particularly, it was very cathartic to write about how my father neglected my family when I was very young… He just disappeared from the face of the earth. Going from that premise, I thought it’d be cool to draw a parallel with certain bible stories, even though I’m not particularly religious. However, if you want to interpret it that way, like we’re singing about ‘El Diablo’ and stuff, I guess that’s cool too.”

On influences G.E. Perez says: “As individuals, it may sound clichéd, but our influences are certainly very eclectic. Toro plays in jazz groups, I play Flamenco guitar… I also have a whole new appreciation for the piano. I love Jaco and Wes too. Having said that, when we come together in a room, what comes out is what we listened to when we were in school, which is rock n’ roll. We also love 80’s and early 90’s merengue. As far as bands; everything… all the usual suspects, from AC/DC to ZZ Top.”

Toro adds: “We obviously listen to a lot of different types of music. The fact we grew up in South America sets us apart in a good way because we were exposed to Latin music. Right about when G and I started playing rock and metal we also played salsa in a school ensemble. We were only 16 and we got to play all over town. As we grew musically we started exploring other instruments and jazz, classical, American folk music… You name it. When we get together in a room our most primal instinct is to play heavy music, however, we can’t deny our mixed background of eclectic influences.”

Cave Of Swimmers - Reflection - promo album cover pic - 2015

Heavy Metal, 70’s Hard Rock, Doom, Stoner, Sludge… Miami duo Cave Of Swimmers are a band that well and truly whet aural senses. Seamlessly weaving an expanse of styles Cave Of Swimmers ARE a band like no other, and reactions from the media and fans alike to their self-titled 2013 debut is testament to that.

Packing the van and hitting the dusty trail, Cave Of Swimmers furthered their name even more throughout 2014, earning them a reputation for a band that’s real with a live show like no other, out of control and full of raw energy.

Following numerous bouts on the road in support of the record, the band headed back to Florida and recorded a brand new album, Reflection, which see’s the light of day on 04th May 2015.

Artwork (as seen above) was completed by Bryan Olson.

On This Day In METAL History – April 26th… From MACHINE HEAD To HALESTORM

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Music, rock music with tags , , , , , on April 26, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Discografía Van Halen – 5150 (1986)

On April 26th, 1986Van Halen reached #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart for the first time with their seventh studio album: 5150. This was Van Halen’s (or Van Hagar, if you like) first album with the dynamic Sammy Hagar as their vocalist. 5150 spent three weeks on top of this chart. By the way, this 5150 album stirs up some really cool and good-times memories for me! Whoa.

Judas Priest -

On this day in 1986 – Metal legends Judas Priest peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with their tenth studio album: Turbo. This album went on to sell one million (plus) copies in the United States, alone. By the way, this is my least favorite Judas Priest album and yet I do “like” it. The song Parental Guidance is featured on Turbo and it is one of the lamest Judas Priest songs ever recorded, in my Metal opinion. The title track is just plain strange. Whatever.

Halestorm - The Wild Life - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #HMO0526

On April 26th, 2015 – Pennsylvania’s very own Hard Rock ambassadors, HALESTORM, have their third studio album, Into The Wild Life, debuting at #5, on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. Congratulations, HALESTORM! Yeah!

Aerosmith's Greatest Hits large promo album pic!

On this day in 2015Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits makes a return to the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, ranked at #151. This fantastic compilation of Aerosmith hits was originally released back in 1980, spending 44 non-consecutive weeks on this chart and peaking at #43. Folks, this album has spanned 4 decades of being a hot seller! Did someone say, timeless Hard Rock? Whoa and holy Metal!!

Machine Head - Bloodstone & Diamonds - promo cover pic - 2014

On April 26th, 2015 – The eighth studio album, Bloodstone & Diamonds, from the mighty MACHINE HEAD, is ranked at #33, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. MACHINE HEAD kicks METAL ass like there’s no tomorrow, on this album, by the way. If you don’t own this MACHINE HEAD album, you are a closet Bay City Rollers fan. Whoa!

WOODEN STAKE – Occult Death Doom Duo Releases Second Full-Length, Via Razorback Records

Wooden Stake - A Feast Of Virgin Souls - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #0959MOWS

Occult death doom ensemble, WOODEN STAKE, rises from their moldy tomb armed with their long-awaited second long player, A Feast Of Virgin Souls. Out now on Razorback Records, the ten-track offering boasts over forty demonic minutes of dark, NWOBHM-infused tracks of lurching brutality led by the possessed banshee vocals of vocalist/bassist Vanessa Nocera. A concept offering influenced by the legend of serial-killer countess Elizabeth Bathory and 1871 Gothic novella Carmilla by Joseph Steridan Le Fan, A Feast Of Virgin Souls is at once punishing and alluring and includes the stunning cover creation of underground art maestro, Mario Lopez (Agitator, Possessor, Warstorm et al).

Taste the torment at THIS LOCATION.

A Feast Of Virgin Souls – Track Listing:

1. Dead Winter Resurrection
2. Rise From The Bleeding Coffin
3. A Feast Of Virgin Souls
4. Alzbeta: The Devil’s Bitch
5. Cross-Scalded Flesh
6. Exorcising The Possessed
7. Dragged Through The Rotted Catacombs
8. Hanging From The Inverted Cross
9. 1140 Rue Royale
10. Curse Of The Cauldron Countess

Wooden Stake - classic band logo - 2010 - #77MOWS

WOODEN STAKE emerged in 2010 with the release of their Vampire Plague Exorcism demo which earned the critical exaltation of the underground extreme doom metal scene. A tidal wave of seven-inch releases, including a split with Druid Lord in 2011 (Altsphere Production) and Blizaro (Razorback Records) the same year, would ensue. WOODEN STAKE undraped their debut full-length, Dungeon Prayers & Tombyard Serenades, later that year via Razorback and again reaped critical acclaim from underground metallers globally, including Darkthrone’s Fenriz who chose WOODEN STAKE as his Band Of The Month.

The album received thousands of plays on YouTube and spread like plague to those who craved extreme doom/death metal with a simultaneously melodic and violent edge. Blabbermouth hailed, “The combination of [former guitarist/drummer] Sarantopoulos’ mighty, dread-spreading riffs and Nocera’s macabre tales and behemoth bass lines constitute a big reason why Dungeon Prayers & Tombyard Serenades is such a compelling release,” while American Aftermath noted, “the music is fuzzy and droning, and the atmosphere sends a cool chill down your spine, but there is something about this band that makes even the most morbid songs seem nice and soothing.”

Added Cvlt Nation, “the band is incredibly atmospheric and have managed to carve out their own unique style that blends everything from Black Sabbath to Obituary to Hellhammer to Jex Thoth to Electric Wizard,” furthering, “The spoken word vocal approach pushes you into a surreal state of melancholy which doesn’t last long as it is soon destroyed by some earth-shattering, old-school riffage and hypnotic gloomy atmosphere.”

In 2012, WOODEN STAKE unleashed At The Stroke Of Midnight, a collection of demo and EP material as well as exclusive canticle, “Night Of The Banshee,” recorded specifically for the release. The next two years saw Nocera busy with her two other projects, Skeletal Spectre and Howling. In 2015, WOODEN STAKE returns with the witchy wisdom of A Feast Of Virgin Souls. Featuring Nocera alongside new guitar player and drummer, Willie Wardlaw, the record is out now on Razorback Records with a future vinyl version on the horizon. Further WOODEN STAKE developments, including live ceremonies, to be announced in the coming weeks. Until then, suffer.

WIZARD EYE – Signs With Black Monk Records For Upcoming Vinyl Release

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music with tags , , , on April 24, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Wizard Eye - promo band photo - 2015 - #66109 - 2015

Philadelphia-based stoner/doom band, WIZARD EYE, recently announced its partnership with emerging Philadelphia-area label, Black Monk Records, for the release of its upcoming self-titled album.

WIZARD EYE is thrilled to be working with Black Monk Records,” says bassist/vocalist, Dave. “As a Philly-based label whose owners have been fans of ours since day one, we can’t imagine a more ideal partnership for our first release on vinyl. Black Monk Records has empowered us to bring our titanic wizard riffs to the masses in exactly the format they need and with complete artistic integrity.”

The newly formed label, started by the owners of Philadelphia record store, Vinyl Altar, will focus on releases from local artists who share their love for high-quality albums with strong aesthetics.

WIZARD EYE has been one of our favorite bands from Philly for some time now,” Christopher Mazeika, one half of Vinyl Altar, explains. “When Black Monk Records was ready to put out its first release, it was only natural that we approach WIZARD EYE. Black Monk Records is all about local pride with worldwide appeal and WIZARD EYE is all that and more!”

The band and its management see this pairing as natural and highly advantageous for all parties involved.

“Just visit Philadelphia’s Vinyl Altar once, and you’ll know the heart that Chris puts into making it one of the best record shops around,” says WIZARD EYE manager, Scott Harrington of 313 INC Artist Management. “It makes sense that his passion would lead him to starting his own label. And that passion is just one of the many reasons we are extremely excited to announce WIZARD EYE‘s partnership with Black Monk Records for this album.”

The nine-track album, Wizard Eye, was recorded in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, at Gradwell House Recording Studio and is slated for mid-Summer release. This collection will be initially made available at a release show to be held at the Vinyl Altar store location, but it will be also be distributed internationally via web and mail order. Further info to be announced soon.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER – One-Man Industrial Doom Unit To Kick Off US Tour; Trek Includes Stop At Stump Fest + Psycho California

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music with tags , , , on April 24, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

unnamed-1

Following a recent march through Europe alongside Atari Teenage Riot, one-man industrial doom sorcerer, Tristan Shone, more commonly known as AUTHOR & PUNISHER, will quake the stages of sixteen North American cities with his tectonic-shifting sound conjurings. Slated to embark today in Portland, Oregon at Stumpfest, Shone’s latest live incursion concludes with a stop at Psycho California Fest and serves as a precursor to the release of AUTHOR & PUNISHER‘s new full-length.

The as-yet-untitled long player, and first for Housecore Records, was captured at famed Nodferatu’s Lair in North Shore, Louisiana with label-founder Philip H. Anselmo and follows the critically adored Women & Children full-length, released in 2013 via Seventh Rule Recordings and currently available in a color vinyl configuration mirroring the AUTHOR & PUNISHER crest colors of yellow and black limited to 100 copies at THIS LOCATION.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER:
4/24/2015 Mississippi Studios – Portland, OR
4/25/2015 Funky Winkerbeans – Vancouver, BC
4/26/2015 Barboza – Seattle, WA
4/28/2015 The Pin – Spokane, WA
4/29/2015 Neurolux – Boise, ID
4/30/2015 Area 51 – Salt Lake City, UT
5/01/2015 Larimer Lounge – Denver, CO
5/03/2015 Triple Rock Social Club – Minneapolis, MN
5/05/2015 Reggie’s – Chicago, IL
5/07/2015 Fat Baby – New York, NY
5/08/2015 O’Brien’s Pub – Allston, MA
5/09/2015 Kung Fu Necktie- Philadelphia, PA
5/11/2015 Blue Nile – New Orleans, LA
5/12/2015 Holy Mountain – Austin, TX
5/13/2015 Low Spirits Bar & Stage – Albuquerque, NM
5/15/2015 Psycho California 2015 – Santa Ana, CA
5/16/2015 Psycho California 2015 – Santa Ana, CA
5/17/2015 Psycho California 2015 – Santa Ana, CA

Shone’s fabrication and industrial environment and processes reveal emotions, anxieties and elements of bliss inherent to the specific human/machine choreography. All aspects of AUTHOR & PUNISHER‘s sound begins with physical movement, limbs struggling in unison to coordinate a wall of electronic rhythm and oscillation, ultimately conditioned by an organic and loose quality absent of sequencing and plastic perfection. AUTHOR & PUNISHER performances are a true amalgamation between man and mechanisms. They are direct, physical, heavy experiences that have amassed praise and intrigue from a wide array of audiences. Pitchfork styled him, “immediate but mysterious,” Stereogum described his, “chilling, unrecognizable form,” and NPR hails him as, “a thrill [who] fires on all cylinders.”

April 23, 2015, Philadelphia – Royal Thunder debut the video for Time Machine, from their recently released album, Crooked Doors, via Rolling Stone:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/premieres/royal-thunders-mlny-parsonz-on-escaping-a-cult-touring-with-wilco-20150423.

The video was directed by J.P. Bradburn who also worked with the band on their video for “Blue.” NPR said of the song, “’Time Machine’ moves with the stubborn resolve of a tightrope walker on a windy day: The song heaves along with intertwining guitars and the soulful vocal of Parsonz, who seems more aware of her dynamic abilities than ever.”

The Atlanta-quartet is currently on a Southeastern tour with Wilco, playing this evening at the Bayou Music Center in Houston. Royal Thunder’s headlining tour kicks off May 28 in New Orleans and will include a brief run of shows with Halestorm and Rival Sons.

The band has been sharing behind-the-scenes footage filmed during the making of Crooked Doors, as well as a newly released clip where they discuss the individual tracks on the album. The first two in the track-by-track series of webisodes can be seen below:

Crooked Doors was released earlier this month, with Stereogum calling the album “the hard rock equivalent of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors.” Entertainment Weekly said Crooked Doors “leans on its substantial pop chops. Tracks like ‘Glow’ are more Heart than Led Zep, which is not a bad thing at all.” Metal Hammer UK recently nominated the band for “Best Underground Band” in their annual Golden Gods’ Awards.

Above: A backstage pass to this 1977 Led Zeppelin concert at The Omni.

Stone Says, About Led Zeppelin: Anytime I happen across Led Zeppelin history, I get those good chills. I believe that without Led Zeppelin, the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal sounds we hear today would not be the same. Legendary guitarist Jimmy Page with his melodic (and heavy) mastery and unique expression of scales and chords has certainly penetrated the building blocks of widespread Rock and Heavy Music. The guitar playing of Jimmy Page, to this day, is always like fresh rain water falling from the heavens, in my Metal opinion.

Vocalist Robert Plant and Jimmy Page equally gave each Led Zeppelin song its own identity, while bassist John Paul Jones and (the late) drummer John Bonham’s less is more styles of play can never be duplicated and only imitated. Metal be thy name. – Stone

SIG:AR:TYR – To Release New Album

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music with tags , , , , on April 22, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

SIG AR TYR - Northen - promo album cover pic - 2015

Canadian Blackened Heavy Metal act SIG:AR:TYR are proud to announce that they will be releasing their new album Northen this fall.

While SIG:AR:TYR has in the past been known as atmospheric blackened folk, Northen shifts into more traditional Metal territory, while maintaining the dark sounds of earlier material.

The band’s mastermind (and sole permanent member) Daemonskald had the following to say about the album:

“The album deals with the end of the Viking age, and the adventures of the Norse in our own country, Canada. Unlike the permanent settlements in Greenland, their stay here was short-lived, and we are still discovering the extent of their travels, the artifacts from their small settlements, and unfolding the tales of their interaction with the native cultures here at the time. “Northen” is a tale of tribute to this small group of adventurers, who with a dynamic, and individualistic spirit, were still willing to throw stability and comfort aside to explore mysterious new places like Helluland, Markland, and Vinland, and try to be their own master in a changing world.”

More details will be announced in the near future. You can currently hear the entire SIG:AR:TYR catalog on Bandcamp here: https://sigartyr.bandcamp.com/ or below:

BOSS KONG – Lets “The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II” Loose With Exclusive Stream And Feature At Decibel Magazine

Posted in Metal, metal music, Music, rock music with tags , , on April 21, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Boss Kong

Having punished the humans with their rightful ways through initial warnings, primate biker horde, BOSS KONG, has successfully infiltrated the populous with The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II for Record Store Day. While the vinyl incarnation of the recordings on this platter is about to become extinct, the full 7″ has been put on antagonistic display for the ditch-dredgers of humanity to endure courtesy of Decibel Magazine.

A segment of the brief Decibel interrogation of simian masterfuck of BOSS KONG, focusing specifically on the B-side Vietnam flashback single, “Viet Kong,” sees the brave mag scribe inquiring, “Who’s worse, music critics or the Vietcong?” Kong’s reply cuts to the dead heart of the matter, offering, “Not much difference, is there? They both pop out of their little holes when you least expect it and try to shoot you in the face. And they’re all Communists.”

Get your full dose of the BOSS KONG cross-examination and the full The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II via the cross-species investigators at Decibel Magazine at THIS LOCATION.

Once its wax supplies are sold out, The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II is out of print in a physical incarnation, but Bandcamp downloads can be placed HERE, and the remaining mailorder physical copies HERE.

The Humans Soundtrack Volume II 7″ was created solely for Record Store Day 2015 in a limited, one-time-only run of orange/gold vinyl, the bloody slab’s exclusive cover art and insert art created by creator Tom Neely (Henry and Glenn Forever) for extra scene points. Fans of Boris, Deathspell Omega, and Sonic Youth, this sounds nothing fucking like that. Set in the late 1960s/early ’70s, “The Humans” is a book about an all-simian biker gang from Bakersfield, California, drinking, fighting, and fucking their way through the turbulent world around them.

BOSS KONG is one of the book’s more popular, interesting characters and this installment of the soundtrack series tells tales from the perspective of an ape that’s seen inhumanities both abroad and on the home front. Voiced by a mystery metal figurehead and performed by a cast of mystery stoner rockers, part of the fun of this 7″ is trying to figure out who’s behind the music itself.

Once revisiting the glory days, two new hash-pipe nightmare rocker jams await, spreading the rampaging demoralization of the Tet Offensive onto coked-up mullet debauchery on The Humans Soundtrack Volume II, like Ponyboy Curtis ten years after he went from gold to crushed Milwaukee aluminum, now leading the outcasts from the Planet Of The Apes into full-on bar-brawl burnout turf of the metal underworld.
