A unique music and film project to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Silesian Film Archive in Katowice
Images of Silesian cities recorded on film tape, history, tradition, everyday life, industrial heritage. Cinematic alchemy of image, music and Silesian spirit.
Only a few tickets left for the second concert on 6th April. Tickets for the 5th April concert sold out in 2 (!) days
Polish black metal titans Furia will take part in a unique project on 5th and 6th April at Kinoteatr Rialto for the 25th anniversary of the Silesian Film Archive in Katowice, Poland. Furia will play its songs accompanied by unique materials from the only regional film archive in the country.
The band has chosen archival films, which show, among other things, how the Silesian region was created and developed, how the legendary Spodek in Katowice was built, how life changed in Silesian cities and towns. We will also see artistic impressions inspired by the industrial landscape of the region or local crafts; recorded on film tapes, full of nostalgia, images of ordinary life: everyday activities that our grandparents, parents or ourselves engaged in years ago.
During this anniversary concert, we will see materials from the Silesian Film Archive, which Furia will illustrate with compositions from its albums, transferring the images of old Silesia to a completely different, surprising and hypnotising dimension.
Furia is one of the most original Polish black metal bands. The band was formed in 2003 in Katowice by vocalist and guitarist Michał “Nihil” Kuźniak. The band also includes Kamil “Sars” Staszałek (bass), Grzegorz “Namtar” Kantor (drums) and Artur Rumiński (guitar, since 2013). Furia has several album releases under its belt, performances in Japan, Romania, UK, at OFF Festival and at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, among others; a nomination for the “Polityka” Passport and cooperation with Jan Klata and the Krakow Stary Theatre on the adaptation of Stanisław Wyspiański’s “Wesele”. An important source of inspiration for the Katowice band is the tradition, culture and art of Upper Silesia: its mythological universe, to which they willingly and often refer in their work (e.g. “Guido”, “W Śnialni”).
The Silesian Film Archive was established 25 years ago in Katowice and is run by the Silesia Film Institute. It is the first and only regional film archive on the cultural map of Poland. Located in the basement of the Kosmos Cinema in Katowice, the Film Archive is mysterious because the relatively little-known space is filled with traces of film history. There you will find stills, posters, scripts, press clippings and over 10,000 film copies. Above all, thousands of old film material (including 8 mm, 16 mm and 35 mm tapes), especially those related to the subject of Upper Silesia. The Film Archive carries out its mission by collecting, storing, restoring, digitising and making available old film materials. www.filmotekaslaska.com

Southern California-based Blackened Metal perpetrators, SAHHR, are readying to drop their self-titled debut EP upon the masses this Halloween!
Featuring past and current members of Skull And Bullets, Dowager, Scarecrow and Unwritten Law, SAHHR fuses all the prime elements of black metal, death metal and metalcore into a bestial mix of unrepentant audio torment fit for devout followers of Watain, 1349, Goatwhore and even Lamb Of God. The three-hymns comprising their forthcoming EP were written by vocalist Ryllyeh and guitarist Aarsoth, recorded at Lot 54 Studio in Huntington Beach, California by Dylan-James Ehren Brock (Ghost Of Abel, Skull And Bullets, Dowager, Intestinal Buffet) and will be released via Domestic Genocide on the unholiest of days, Halloween, alongside a special bloodbath of a video for second track, “Slay The Savior.”
Comments vocalist Ryllyeh: “We really feel people are going to dig the EP because these three songs really encompass the true scope of our sound. We try our best to stretch the limits of traditional black metal by adding elements from many different genres of extreme music, while still keeping it fluid and of course, at all times, HEAVY. We are pleased to join the Domestic Genocide roster as we’ve had dealings with the owner, Black Moor, before. He has very eclectic taste in metal and thought he would understand our sound. He also has a killer crew of people working behind the scenes so we know this debut will get in the correct hands.”
Sahhr – Track Listing:
Altar Of Maggots
Slay The Savior
Miscreant
SAHHR formed earlier this year by singer/songwriter Ryllyeh. A veteran of the New York City punk and metal scenes since the early 1980s, Ryllyeh’s (AKA-Joe Truck, also a world-renowned tattoo artist) past musical endeavors include time spent in ’80s Deathrock bands Scarecrow and Braineaters, the latter of which included ex-Samhain guitarist, Damien. He also plays bass and screams in doom heavyweights-Dowager. Ryllyeh united with guitarist Aarsoth earlier this year and instantly began composing what would become the trio of tracks occupying the EP.
Sahhr will be released via Domestic Genocide Records on October 31st, 2014. In the meantime check out the twenty-second teaser clip below:
Void Ritual is a one man project of Daniel Jackson (Also of Ancestral Oath), from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The EP’s name, Holodomor refers to a man-made famine and extermination by hunger; which resulted in the deaths of millions of people from the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. This incredibly tragic chapter in history took place during 1932 and 1933.
Tridroid Records will be releasing Void Ritual’s Holodomor on cassette, this coming August. While the album has been available as a digital download for some time, Holodomor’s physical release will include the previously unreleased track Mourning the Dawn. After I’ve listened to Holodomor several times, it is very apparent that Void Ritual boasts a superb multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.
There is no denying, to my ears, that the Black Metal created by Void Ritual is a standout among underground Metal I’ve listened to thus far, this year. This 4 song EP as a whole is a fascinating listen, into just how grand Black Metal can be represented from the USA. There are blackened melodic moments to savor, with Mourning The Dawn; while the fiercely extreme side of Void Ritual’s blackened sound is served up with the opening track: Cold. The title track is nothing short of amazing and delivers on its terrifying theme, at an epic 6:23.
The totality of blackened sensations that overtook me after listening to Holodomor had me running to my front office window; peering to see if a sinkhole leading to the fiery depths of hell formed in the middle of the street. Yes, Void Ritual is that good. Metal be thy name. – Stone

Cassette pre-orders for Holodomor are expected to ship in August 2014 and can be obtained for $4 from this location:
Apochs.net and Against PR have teamed up to present an exclusive stream of the brand new Goats of Doom EP – Ashes from the Past, a recording that the site owner himself claims is “blurring the lines between traditional Black Metal and that of largely melodic riffs”! In cooperation with Ewiges Eis Records, all three tracks from the mysterious Finnish four-piece are available to stream right now! But don’t let this opportunity slip by as it’s only here for a very limited time!
Goats of Doom hails from Nivala, Finland. “Ashes from the Past” is the follow-up to the band’s 2012 debut full-length album Lost in Time and Void. It was released March 18th, 2014 through Ewiges Eis Records.
LYSURA – Formed by ex-Acheron guitarist Max Othworth, LYSURA originally premiered in 2012 with the release of their EP Malignancy. A Black Metal band from Indianapolis, LYSURA takes no shortcuts in delivering their blackened lyrical rage and ultra-impressive song crafting with their newest EP II. The two songs on II each carry the identical running time of 8:41 and are epics to be savored.
Seasons In Exile and Tome Of Surreption both accentuate LYSURA’s conscientious approach to experimenting with time signatures and doing so very effectively; making both songs radiate on a technical and melodic level, while not vacating the Black Metal experience for one nanosecond. Guitarist Max Otworth’s vocals are convincingly demonic and true to the genre. I applaud each musician in LYSURA for their stellar musicianship; which I can listen to all day.
I can pinpoint moments of Death Metal riffage in Tome Of Surreption, along with some Iron Maiden(ish) guitar licks, however, LYSURA has entered into the Black Metal realm with outstanding originality and I wouldn’t want to see them stray from the Blackened musical path they’ve taken thus far. I absolutely cannot wait for a full-length album from LYSURA. Metal be thy name. – Stone
On April 9th, Dutch Black Metal legends COUNTESS will release their long-awaited new full-length album, entitled ‘Ancient Lies And Battle Cries’ through the band’s long-time label Barbarian Wrath.
‘Ancient Lies And Battle Cries’, the band’s fourteenth full-length, features ten tracks of uncompromising METAL, blending first wave Black Metal and traditional Heavy Metal in a way only COUNTESS can. The result of almost three years of writing and recording, ‘Ancient Lies’ will surely satisfy all those who long for the days when Black Metal was still METAL.
Fans can get a first taste of the new record as of today. A video has been released for the song ‘Call Of The Ancient Pantheon’ through the band’s official YT channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/countessmetal?feature=watch
BEHEMOTH – There’s no question that the tenth studio album, The Satanist, from Poland’s BEHEMOTH has made a lasting Metal impact upon the Metal masses. I see this current album/digital chart success as a telling reminder to the status-quo mainstream: that quality Metal exists and will never say die! Both the commendable Metal and artwork of The Satanist, coupled with BEHEMOTH’s (ever-growing) loyal fan base have made a profound Metal statement during this month of February.
Album chart success for an Extreme Metal band is not an example of selling-out; instead it’s an example of the Metal cream rising to the top. Hard work and dedication to one’s craft shall pay dividends; in the case of BEHEMOTH, the Metal dividends are (in my opinion) well-earned. This recent chart success for BEHEMOTH also means that their fans have spoken and spent their hard-earned money on The Satanist, while any illegal downloaders can march straight into the douche-bag posers lounge and drink stale prune juice.
The Satanist was released in North America, via Metal Blade Records on February 4th. Below you will see the chart numbers for both the U.S. and Canada. This information was posted on the BEHEMOTH! Facebook page, on February 12th. – Stone

Olympia, Washington-based 20 Buck Spin continuously defies all extreme music genre boundaries, the label’s vast juggernaut of a roster containing top-tier acts from all realms and scenes of the underground, and now continues this tradition with the new induction of mysterious entity, DEAD IN THE MANGER.
Very little information was provided to 20 Buck Spin regarding DEAD IN THE MANGER when the label was initially contacted about a release, only that the band delivers a mix of depressive black metal and grind (which seemed on paper an impossible combination) and that the intention is to leave a feeling of unease and despondency in the listener. Nonetheless, a cursory listen to the outfit’s debut MLP, Transience, leaves no doubt that DEAD IN THE MANGER succeeds handily in creating music both brutally violent and coldly agonizing.
___________________________
Transience begins with an atmospheric repetitive motive conjuring a bleak sadness that sets the stage for an urgent right turn to scalpel-sharp, maximum BPM aggression and multiple stab wounds of hate-driven malcontent. Filled with ill will and revulsion, DEAD IN THE MANGER walks a fine line between all out sensory violence and post trauma exhaustion.
With just six songs in less than twenty minutes — succinctly named Parts I-VI — Transience destroys the listener with a calculated premeditation in a short time, and is intended as a first glimpse at what DEAD IN THE MANGER is preparing for, as a debut full-length album is currently in the works.
Transience will be unleashed on MLP and digital formats in North America on April 29th and in Europe on May 2nd. DEAD IN THE MANGER’s LP debut will follow later in 2014, also on 20 Buck Spin.
Congratulations to all those who contributed to the album in one way or another! It has been announced that the album “Satyricon” that went number 1 on the Norwegian Album Charts has been nominated for a Norwegian Grammy.

The 42nd Annual Spellemann Awards (Norway’s equivalent to America’s Grammy Awards) will be handed out on January 18th, 2014, at Konserthus in Stavanger, Norway, with the event being broadcast live on the NRK1 channel.
Wisconsin Blackened Death Metal machine EMBLAZONED has returned to Belle City Sound in Racine, Wisc., to record the band’s as-of-yet untitled full-length album. The album will be the follow-up to the critically acclaimed EP, The Living Magisterium, which was released September 3 via Deepsend Records.
Tracking for the album is almost complete, with mixing and mastering getting underway next month. Production duties are being handled by Chris Wisco (Jungle Rot, Gorgasm, Nachtmystium, Broken Hope). Fans of the EP will not be disappointed in what is shaping up to be the bands most intense offering to date. No official release date had been set yet.
The Living Magisterium is available as a digital download and jewel case CD through Deepsend Records. Preview and purchase the album at www.deepsendrecords.bandcamp.com.

Alpine Black/Death conjurors, VALDUR, have confirmed preliminary details of their impending new full-length. Dubbed At War With, the follow-up to the band’s 2010-released Raven Gods Among Us, was recorded at Earhammer Studio with Greg Wilkinson at the helm and is currently being mastered by Michael Z. (Secrets of the Moon, Ascension) at Source Studios and boasts ten psalms of sonic repugnance.
States drummer Matthew bluntly, “I’m not very comfortable trying to put VALDUR’s music into words, but I think that what is important is that we have the luxury of doing what we want, when we want… and in the end, it will be our music and artwork that will do all the talking.”
Feel the infernal enormity of a rough version of the title track at THIS LOCATION.
Crowned “the best black metal band in the United States that you’ve probably never heard of,” by About.com and featuring past and current members of Weverin, Endless Blizzard and Plutocracy, VALDUR was forged at the turn of the century in a small mountain town located in the pulsating heart of the Sierra Mountain Range near the Nevada border. It is where desert (Death Valley) meets mountain (Mt. Whitney) and where the unholy trio celebrate the freedom and space to dwell without interference of fashionable “scenes” or “rulebooks.”
At War With will rise on December 17, 2013 via BloodyMountain Records. Additional details to be unveiled in due time.
Oslo Norway’s Black Metal icons, SATYRICON, will be embarking on their European tour, starting this Thursday, November 7th! Taiwan Republic’s very own CHTHONIC will be main support to the Satyricon UK, Europe and Scandinavian tour dates from November 7th to December 20th, 2013. Metal be thy name!

Emerging from their self-imposed solitude, atmospheric Black Metal entity LASTER will travel from their Dutch homeland to Germany later this year for their first ever live performance.
Scheduled for Saturday, December 21st, LASTER’s live debut will take place at Musikbunker Aachen in Aachen, Germany. Support will come from NORTHWARD, GOATBLOOD and MORAST. For more info and updates, visit the Concert Event Page.
In 2012, LASTER released the three-track EP, Wijsgeer & Narreman on Dunkelheit Produktionen. Praised for its bleak, yet hypnotic and poetic delivery, the EP is currently available on CD, cassette and digital formats. Looping lamentation and genuine gloom brought to life by songs which leave the standard of DSBM far behind. Floating riffs, melancholic and full of grace, rolling drums and pressing lyrics tell stories about pain that was lived through and artistic musicianship. This music’s pathos aspirated by an energy standing up again and again to fade within monotonous doubt and to indulge in blind despair.
LASTER (meaning libel) was founded and located in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The band consists of N. (NORTHWARD) and W.Damiaen (OMNINIHILIST, SEA OF TREES, WILLOOS, WHITE OAK). Wijsgeer &Narreman is recommended for fans of URFAUST and AUSTERE!
Venom are currently in the studio adding the final touches to their new album. The album is being scheduled for release through UMG [Spinefarm Records] in early 2014. [ we will bring more information and album / song titles soon ]
Dante commented: “The new songs are sounding amazing, the whole album has a great feel. I’d say the strength of this band comes from our determination to create great music, and that comes from forward thinking, new ideas and fresh challenges”.
Cronos continued: “I believe this is Venom at it’s best, the song writing keeps getting better, and the live shows are tighter and heavier than ever. It’s clear to me now that all of the line up changes this band has been through over the years, has been an inspiring journey to find the right band of warriors. Venom continue to keep growing stronger, and unstoppable”.
