Uriah Heep’s Ex-Lead Singer PETER GOALBY Announces the Completion and Release of his Long Lost Solo Album: Don’t Think This Is Over

Posted in classic rock, classic rock albums, Hard Rock, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , on December 7, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

Peter Goalby was the lead singer of Uriah Heep, Trapeze and Fable and has now retired from the music industry after an illustrious career.

Peter had been living with the knowledge he’d recorded a solo album just after leaving Uriah Heep yet it was only when a poorly labelled DAT was spotted, at a storage facility over 30 years later, that the lost album was found.

The album was finished when his Uriah Heep bandmates Mick Box (guitar) and John Sinclair (keys) added the final overdubs to the tracks in 2025. The 9-track album was personally overseen (from tape transfer, mastering and artwork) by Peter Goalby.

Peter Goalby explained the background to the release: “In 1987 I was offered a recording and publishing contract with RAK Records just after I’d left Uriah Heep. I thought these songs would be very commercial in the 1980s and Smokie recorded Fallin’ Apart. I later found out the master tapes had been lost and I silently carried the disappointment that music I’d put my heart and soul into was gone forever. Never say never!”

The lost album’s release follows the successful release of Easy With The Heartaches and then I Will Come Runnin’Don’t Think This Is Over is OUT NOW from all good retailers:

SAINTED SINNERS Releases New Studio Album, High On Fire, via ROAR | New Music Video “Lost In A Storm” Premiering Now

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, hard rock music, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , on November 22, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

Hard Rock super-group SAINTED SINNERS have hit the scene with High On Fire, their brand new album now available through ROAR – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music! To celebrate the release in style, the band drops a music video for “Lost In A Storm; a slow-burning rocker with a blues edge, heavy shadows, and the kind of moody power that recalls the early era of Black Sabbath in a modern shape.

The video clip for “Lost In A Storm” is now premiering HERE

Order High On Fire now at: https://saintedsinners.rpm.link/hofPR

Guitarist Frank Pané comments“We are happy to finally share our 5th album High On fire with the Rock fans around the world. It‘s a testimony of our passion for the music that we love most and is in our blood. Sainted Sinners is a very heartfelt musical outlet for everybody in the band and we hope listeners can feel that fire, which after decades in the Rock‘n Roll buisness still burns high! We are high on fire!”

He adds“The lastest single “Lost In A Storm” shows our more darker & heavy side. Definitely inspired by one of our favourite bands Black Sabbath, but still keeping trademark Sainted Sinners elements like an intense use of the Hammond to add a different flavour and unexpectedly ending, which could turn into a improvised jam at our live shows. Curious? Have a listen and don‘t get lost in the storm.”

Rooted within the sound of the legendary acts of this genre, like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, UFO and others, yet also with influences from different styles, with their new offering High On FireSAINTED SINNERS once again prove that classic hard rock can feel timeless, energetic and inspiring for generations to come.

The new record features the stellar line-up of Jack Meile (Tygers Of Pan Tang) on vocals, Frank Pané (Bonfire) on guitar, Ernesto Ghezzi (Gotthard) on keyboards, Samy Saemann (ex-Freedom Call) on bass, and Berci Hirleman on drums. Together they deliver a vibrant journey through 70s- and 80s-inspired heavy rock, full of soul-soaked vocals, groovy Hammond duels, intricate riffs, and a driving rhythm section.

High On Fire delivers a feeling of good time Rock’n’Roll vibes. Let‘s forget and escape from all the bad things in life and enjoy life to the fullest with freedom of expression and an overall positive attitude:

“There are too many negative things happening all over the world right now, and you can’t ignore that. However, you always have to stay positive and firmly believe that calmer and better times will come again, and we hope to help our fans stay similarly positive with our music and continue to believe that everything will be okay”, says Pané.

You can also feel that power within the album artwork, created by Frank and Miram Kollbrunner. “For me, it reflects the power we try to convey to the listener with our music. Whether you’re a “saint” or a “sinner,” there’s a little bit of both in everyone. Life is also light and shadow. If you accept that for yourself, it gives you the freedom to enjoy life.”

The buzz has been impossible to ignore, Dead Groove is redefining the rules of classic rock. Now, the breakout band is ready to bring their electrifying new sound on tour as the opening act for legendary Deep Purple bassist and vocalist Glenn Hughes on his highly anticipated 2026 U.S. tour.

Glenn Hughes and Dead Groove will launch the run on March 27th at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, CA, with shows stretching across the country before wrapping things up with a blowout finale at Oxnard Performing Arts Center, Oxnard, CA, on May 9. It’s not just a tour. It’s a statement: rock isn’t just alive, it’s evolving, and Dead Groove is leading the charge.

“The Chosen Years” promises to be a dynamic two-hour live experience, turning back the clocks to honor Glenn Hughes’ five-decade career. The setlist will span songs from TRAPEZE, DEEP PURPLE, HUGHES/THRALL, IOMMI/HUGHES, and BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, plus material from Glenn’s latest solo album, Chosen.

Glenn says it best: “Looking forward to seeing you on my next tour, in spring 2026. A new show with good vibrations, to carry the message that ‘music is the healer’. I’ll see you down the front!”

And if that wasn’t enough, special guests will boost the energy even more: Gilby Clarke (of Guns N’ Roses fame) will perform on select dates, while cult favorites Enuff Z Nuff will join the lineup on others. For pure rock adrenaline, it doesn’t get much bigger or fresher than this.

Dead Groove has been winning over dedicated fans and curious critics with their fearless approach, heavy groove, and relentless drive. Fred Aching, drummer, says:

“We are thrilled to embark on this unique and amazing journey with you. We eagerly anticipate rocking the house every night and delivering our best performances to you.”

Dead Groove signed with Cleopatra Records in 2024 and quickly made their mark with the release of their EP, Rubicon, Now, the band is set to unveil a brand new 7” single, dropping in conjunction with the Glenn Hughes “The Chosen Years” Spring 2026 U.S. Tour. This special release highlights Dead Groove’s upcoming track, a powerful collaboration with seven-time Grammy-nominated guitar legend Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs, Kansas) and blues phenom Lance Lopez.

As an added bonus, the 7” will also feature an unreleased rare mix from the late, great Tommy Bolin—who was Glenn’s bandmate during his iconic Deep Purple Mk III era. Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON Shares Cover Video of THIN LIZZY’s “Suicide”

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , on November 11, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

New Album “Something Borrowed…Something New” Out Dec 5th, 2025

Australian hard rockers Greystone Canyon return with a powerful new single – a bold rendition of Thin Lizzy’s “Suicide”, available worldwide now. The track is the first glimpse into the band’s forthcoming album Something Borrowed…Something New, due out December 5th, 2025, from Rockshots Records, marking their most authentic and organic release to date.

Faithful to the spirit of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy’s timeless legacy, Greystone Canyon delivers a warm, punchy, and honest version of “Suicide”, enriched by their signature blend of melodic rock and gritty hard-edged groove. Recorded live with no click tracks or studio trickery, the single captures the raw chemistry of a band feeding off one another in the room – a true celebration of rock ‘n’ roll energy.

Produced by the band and engineered by Joel Taylor at Black Lodge Studio (Melbourne), “Something Borrowed…Something New” represents a turning point in Greystone Canyon’s journey. As the title suggests, it’s a hybrid record – a mix of new original songs and hand-picked classics from the bands that shaped their sound, including Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, UFO, and Neil Young. The album bridges past and present, combining heartfelt tributes with fresh, road-worn originals such as “Drives Us,” “Friend of the Fox,” and “Stealing Our Freedom”.

Track Listing:
1. Doctor, Doctor (UFO cover) – 04:16
2. Just Got Paid (ZZ Top cover) – 03:35
3. Drives Us – 05:06
4. Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin cover) – 02:21
5. Friend of the Fox – 03:57
6. Suicide (Thin Lizzy cover) – 05:14
7. Hey, Hey, My, My (Into the Black) (Neil Young cover) – 03:22
8. AAF – 1:47
9. Stealing Our Freedom – 04:26
Album Length: 33:54

Vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry comments:

“This is our most honest record so far, real instruments, real performances, all captured live in one room. We wanted to remind listeners of the warmth and punch that only true rock bands can create together. It’s pure, old-school energy and we had an absolute blast making it.”

Following the success of Iron & Oak (2024), which reached #18 on the Australian iTunes Hard Rock chart and earned multiple 10/10 media scores, the band is poised to bring their music to a new global audience with a record that’s equal parts homage and evolution.

Frontman Darren Cherry, who also performed with Paul Di’Anno’s (ex-Iron Maiden) Australian touring band in 2024, leads the lineup featuring Richard Vella (guitars, vocals, keyboards), David Poulter (bass), and Sham Hughes (drums, keyboards, mastering). Together, they embody the spirit of traditional rock music, played with authenticity, precision, and passion.

The band also performed alongside US heavy metal pioneers The Rods, further cementing their reputation for powerful and emotionally charged live shows.

The band released their debut album While the Wheels Still Turn in 2018, earning critical acclaim from both Australian and international press. The record was named “Debut Album of the Year” by Australia’s national TV program The Hard Rock Show, and received outstanding reviews across the board – including 10/10 from Rock ’n’ Load Magazine and 99/100 from The Metal Mag. Supported by multiple singles and videos amassing over 450,000 views, the album firmly established Greystone Canyon as one of Australia’s most promising rock acts.

Their sophomore record, Iron & Oak, followed in 2024, entering the Australian iTunes chart at #18 for Hard Rock and #82 across all genres, as well as reaching #1 on CFUR North American college radio. The album was praised by the international rock media, with several 10/10 scores, and produced over 250,000 video views within weeks of release.

My Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale bought me this fantastic Lita Ford Live & Deadly CD several years ago. He has gifted me some sensational vinyl, CDs and concert merch over the last couple of decades and yes, I have gratitude!

This CD was released via DEADLINE MUSIC (a division of Cleopatra Records) back in 2014 and has 13 of Lita’s songs performed live by her and band. It’s hand numbered 138/1000. As stated on the Cleopatra Records website: Recorded live at “one of Lita’s favorite watering holes” in 2000.”

This CD is still available everywhere online, you can find both the hand numbered version and a more recent version with an alternate Lita Ford photo on the front cover. You can also find Live & Deadly streaming on Spotify or other digital platforms.

Live & Deadly bestows a fabulous production of Lita performing live, with her vocals, guitar and band sounding amazing. This is a necessary listen and/or buy to own for all Lita Ford fans. Lita and her band jam without any fade-outs; plus the crowd cheering included gives this recording that added dose of live vibes! Metal be thy name – Stone.

ACE FREHLEY – Rest In Peace, Rock Icon

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on October 17, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

ACE FREHLEY / 1951 – 2025

2025 is another year that hasn’t been kind in the news department, with the passing of music artists. My condolences to the family, friends, bandmates and fans of Ace Frehley, affectionately known also as Space Ace and Spaceman. 74 years old is young, as I’ve grown and been reminded how precious life on Earth is.

Ace Frehley (birth name Paul Daniel Frehley) was a founding member and lead guitarist of KISS and highly successful solo artist during his post KISS career. What a career! Performing live consistently and recording albums that have endured an everlasting relevance to this very day, Ace Frehley kept his showmanship Rockin’ straight into 2025.

As I grew up in the mid 70’s through the 80’s, KISS had that wow factor from their personas to their accessible discography and everything in-between. Ace Frehley was the member of KISS I always wished had more songs featuring him as a singer.

Listening to Ace Frehley sing and play his magic on “Shock Me,” 2000 Man” and “Speedin’ Back To My Baby” will be on repeat for awhile now, as my fondness for this Rock icon has never been stronger. I’ll also play very loud Aces’ guitar splendor with the KISS classic: “What Makes The World Go ‘Round.” Plus, the albums of Frehley’s Comet will be bringing back good times memories as well, for the remainder of my life.

Thank you, Ace Frehley, and rest and also rock in peace. You were a major soundtrack to my life. That one time I saw you perform live, with your band Frehley’s Comet, I’ll continue to cherish and talk about forever. God Bless your soul, Space Ace. – Stone

OUT JANUARY 16, 2026 https://deathcult.ffm.to/paradiselive

DEATH CULT/THE CULT TOUR DATES BEGIN TODAY

LISTEN TO “RESURRECTION JOE (LIVE)” NOW: https://deathcult.ffm.to/resurrectionjoe-live

Oct. 9, 2025 – Death Cult laid the groundwork for the band we now know as The Cult, and in 2023, to mark the band’s 40th anniversary, Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, along with John Tempesta on bass and Charlie Jones on drums, revived Death Cult for a special run of shows.

Out on Jan. 16, Paradise Live is a 16-track live album that documents this rebirth of Death Cult. Recorded at the iconic Albert Hall in Duffy’s hometown of Manchester on Nov. 18, 2023, the release, which features no overdubs, will be available on 2LP, CD, and digitally. Two editions of the vinyl will be available: a black splatter edition available exclusively from the band’s webstore, and a white splatter edition will be available everywhere else: https://deathcult.ffm.to/paradiselive.

At the center of the night’s set was the hypnotic 1982 Cult single “Resurrection Joe.” One of many high points of the evening, it is available to listen to now: https://deathcult.ffm.to/resurrectionjoe-live.

The Cult’s first incarnation was Southern Death Cult, formed in 1981, releasing their sole, self-titled album posthumously in 1983. That same year, Death Cult formed, with Ian Astbury joining forces with Billy Duffy for a musical partnership that has endured for 40+ years. Death Cult became The Cult in 1984 releasing Dreamtime that same year.

Ian and Billy initially weren’t sure how many shows they would do as Death Cult, but the post-punk gothic futurists decided to listen to the requests to keep the fervor going. The next leg of shows begins tonight in Niagara Falls and continues to Oct. 30 in Los Angeles. These truly special evenings will have Death Cult opening for The Cult.

The Cult has enjoyed numerous international and U.S. gold and platinum certifications. Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy have released 11 studio albums over The Cult’s 40-year career. The band found international renown with the 1985 album, Love, which featured the enduring rock anthem “She Sells Sanctuary,” as well as the oft-heard follow-up single “Rain.”

My Thoughts On Music Streaming

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on October 6, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

I listen to music across a wide array of mediums, both physical and streaming. With that said, I’ve found myself listening on Spotify more this year than any other before it. With the ease of use and plethora of Metal choices, Spotify has been keeping me in the know. I’ve discovered more new bands, albums and songs like never before, due to the daily recommendations I receive from Spotify.

I actually feel spoiled with such easy access to my favorite music and yet I also feel gratitude. Technology can be more than a Pandora’s box as all the digital music platforms have proven. We’ve come a long way since those Napster days. Music is to be heard, enjoyed and not hidden from being celebrated. Spotify gives music to the masses, whether a user pays a monthly subscription (free from ads) or not.

My growing up during the late 70’s and into the early 80’s as a teenager in America had limited access to music on television; with MTV eventually changing the game. Beforehand there was American Bandstand, Soul Train and USA Networks’ Night Flight. I was a fan of all three! Had to be. It’s all we had for music on TV along with tidbits of related news.

The physical media was the mainstay back then, along with radio, of course. I never in a billion years could’ve foreseen such a remarkable future of music accessibility, via a hand-held phone, back in the day. That was Science Fiction back then. Star Trek stuff.

When it comes to how much artists are compensated from Spotify for listens, I have no clue. I’ve read about the negative blowback that many artists have toward the pay scale Spotify uses. All I can say, in my opinion, is you either use it as a means to get your music heard or you don’t. Admittedly, I will at times purchase physical music media based on what I discover from Spotify. This platform affords artists to sell merch from there as well.

On a side note, I have zero clue about how YouTube compensates musicians and bands. YouTube is easily the one digital platform I use the least for music. After I watch a newly released music video, I’m done, unless the video is worth my time to revisit. That’s just me.

I do know Bandcamp is honestly a tremendous platform for artists to make money; especially with the monthly Bandcamp Friday. I do love Bandcamp! I have purchased a nice collection of digital music, physical media and other merch over the years from Bandcamp. I so highly recommend checking out this platform if you haven’t already.

Thank you for visiting and reading about my thoughts on music streaming. I greatly appreciate all of you visitors! Please feel free to comment! Metal be thy name. – Stone

KING ULTRAMEGA Launches with Debut Single “Rusty Cage” – A Bold Tribute To Chris Cornell In Partnership With Reigning Phoenix Music and MusiCares

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, hard rock music, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on July 18, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

In a landmark collaboration to support the mental health and well-being of music creators, Reigning Phoenix Music and MusiCares have teamed up to spotlight KING ULTRAMEGA, a bold new tribute project honoring the legacy of Chris Cornell. KING ULTRAMEGA debuts today with a powerful reimagining of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage,” released via Reigning Phoenix Music.

Watch “Rusty Cage” here: https://youtu.be/GKdMKFBrQpk

KING ULTRAMEGA is an all-star collective featuring original members of  ALICE IN CHAINS, ANTHRAX, MASTODON and SOUNDGARDEN, alongside legendary artists from the hard rock and metal worlds. With each single release KING ULTRAMEGA will feature different musicians that aim to celebrate Cornell’s musical genius while raising critical funds and awareness for MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s nonprofit providing mental health, addiction recovery, and emergency services to those in the music community.

“Chris Cornell’s voice and presence meant so much to so many, including all of us at MusiCares. He and his loved ones have long championed the importance of our work, and it’s deeply meaningful to see his legacy continue through a project that brings connection, awareness, and hope to the music community.” —  Theresa Wolters, Interim Executive Director and VP of Health & Human Services, MusiCares

The lineup for “Rusty Cage” includes:

  • William DuVall (ALICE IN CHAINS) – Vocals
  • Bill Kelliher (MASTODON) – Guitars
  • Mark Menghi (METAL ALLEGIANCE) – Bass
  • Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX, PANTERA) – Drums

DuVall approaches Cornell’s towering vocal legacy with reverence and restraint: “I just leaned into my love for the song and my immense respect for Chris,” he says. “Since the instrumental track Bill, Charlie, and Mark sent hewed so closely to the original, I thought it best for me to stay in that ballpark as well. Again, my reason for participating was simply taking on an interesting challenge when so much of the world was shut down. I had no thoughts or ambitions for this beyond our posting it on social media five years ago. But if this release can help further the good work done by MusiCares, then I’m all for it.”

Kelliher faithfully channels the song’s jagged, shifting riffs, while Menghi injects a dose of low-end swagger, including a bold bass-wah section in the song’s doom-laden second half. Benante captures Matt Cameron’s explosive style with precision and feel, staying true to the song’s “tight but loose” groove.

KING ULTRAMEGA is more than a tribute, it’s a movement. The collective will continue releasing new interpretations of Cornell’s work across SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE, TEMPLE OF THE DOG, and his solo career, each track featuring rotating guest musicians and collaborators. Proceeds from every release will benefit MusiCares.

BulletBoys, Mick Box and Bob Daisley “Takin’ It To The Streets” – A Classic Rock Gem Reimagined!

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on June 29, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

BulletBoys, Mick Box and Bob Daisley have collaborated on covering the Classic Rock gem “Takin’ It To The Streets”. This cover song has been newly released via Cleopatra. Originally recorded and released by The Doobie Brothers back in 1976, “Takin It To The Streets” is the title track from The Doobie Brothers’ sixth studio album.

My love for Classic Rock knows no boundaries and once I discovered this cover version on Spotify I was all ears and grinning. Take into account my deep respect and loyalty to guitarist Mick Box and bassist Bob Daisley and I’m instantly transported into a 1970s and 80s Rockin’ daze!

BulletBoys vocalist Marq Torien shows off his smooth and soulful vocals brilliantly on this cover; a contrast from his patented Hard Rock and Heavy Metal pipes he’s famously known for. Just hearing these music legends jamming on “Takin’ It To The Streets” has me yearning (hopefully) for more surprises to come from them!

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Michael McDonald wrote and originally sung the hit single “Takin It To The Streets”.
  • Mick Box is world famous as the lead guitarist and songwriter of Uriah Heep, going back to their founding.
  • Bob Daisley is a legendary bassist and songwriter. He has been a member of Rainbow, Ozzy Osbourne’s Blizzard Of Ozz, and Uriah Heep, to name a few.

BLACK SABBATH “Paranoid” CD Single From 2004

I bought this CD single of Black Sabbaths’ Paranoid” with the B side of “Iron Man” back around 2007. If I remember correctly, I found this little metal gem at Best Buy. The CD tray slides out from the cardboard jacket.

I can’t find the actual release date for this CD single, yet it was released to promote Black Box: The Complete Black Sabbath 1970-1978; which was released back on April 27, 2004, via Warner Bros./Rhino.

Black Sabbaths’ Paranoid studio album was originally released in Europe on Sept. 18, 1970 and includes both “Paranoid” and “Iron Man”.

Black Sabbath: Tony Iommi (guitar), Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Geezer Butler (bass), Bill Ward (drums)

BLACK SABBATH Born Again World Tour 1983/1984 – Check Out My Tour Book!

Some years ago, my Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale gifted me this fabulous Black Sabbath Born Again tour book. I thank him to this day!

The Black Sabbath Born Again World Tour began on August 7, 1983 and ended on March 4, 1984. The new lead vocalist for this Black Sabbath era was Ian Gillan of Deep Purple fame. Ian Gillan sang on the 1983 Born Again album as well. Of course, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler are on this tour. Geoff Nichols played keyboards on this tour.

Above: back cover

The one other band lineup change for this tour was the addition of Bev Bevan as drummer; famous for his tenure with Electric Light Orchestra. However, Bill Ward was the drummer on the Born Again album.

Back in 1983, I was a junior in high school and very much a fan of both the Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio eras of Black Sabbath. I did not have the opportunity to see Black Sabbath on this tour and I would’ve loved to. Can’t see them all; yet it still sucks to miss that tour. Born Again has always been a favorite metal album of mine my entire life. I believe it’s a classic.

Above: tour credits page

I just really dig the dark and sinister vibes from the songs and it’s heavy as hell! My top 3 songs from Born Again are “Trashed,” Disturbing The Priest” and “Zero The Hero.” Yes, I’ve loved the album artwork since I first saw it. It’s f’n Metal, after all.

I didn’t show band photos from this tour book due to any potential copyright issues. Thank you for checking out my tour book and visiting! Stay safe and Metal be thy name. – Stone

Metal Show & Tell: RONNIE JAMES DIO Funko Pop!

Posted in Collectibles, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on April 27, 2025 by Metal Odyssey

I bought this Ronnie James Dio Funko Pop! Rocks a couple of weeks ago, at a store called Petez Popz located in Kettering, Ohio. This store is amazing if you are a collector of Funko collectibles. They also have a fine website & online store here: https://petezpopz.com/

My love for Ronnie James Dio has been well documented, over the years here on Metal Odyssey. I’m shocked that it took me this long to finally get a Pop! Rocks of RJD! There are other variations of a RJD Funko out there, I’m certain; for that’s pretty much the standard with how Funko produces any of their characters from across the pop culture universe.

Above: back cover of box

My first introduction to the vocals of RJD were with his first two albums with Black Sabbath: Heaven And Hell (1980), Mob Rules (1981). I quickly learned of his albums with Rainbow and I was forever hooked by RJD. This was back in the days when I thought having my own rotary phone in my bedroom was a privilege. Rotary phone, imagine that.

I later gobbled up all of RJD’s solo albums on vinyl, then to the CD versions. My biggest thrill was being able to see the iconic RJD and his band DIO in concert, during a stop on his Dream Evil tour in New Haven, Connecticut. Megadeth and Savatage were the opening bands for DIO on that magical evening of December 29th, 1987. Incredible. That old New Haven coliseum where I saw DIO perform was torn down back in January of 2007; yet the Metal memories remain!

G.I JOE’S COLD SLITHER – Unleashes Their New Single “Cold Slither” In A Groundbreaking Partnership Between Hasbro and Reigning Phoenix Music

In an explosive return to the music scene, the iconic yet notorious band COLD SLITHER has released their first single “Cold Slither,” off their much-anticipated album. This project marks a groundbreaking fusion of real-world music and fictional narrative, bringing to life the villainous charm of the Cobra organization from the classic 1980s G.I. JOE series

In a dynamic collaboration, Hasbro and Reigning Phoenix Music have teamed up to release “Cold Slither.” This partnership breathes new life into COLD SLITHER, a band once crafted as part of a nefarious plot and now reborn with a sound that mixes nostalgia with cutting-edge rock prowess. Helmed by the mysterious Zartan and his band of Dreadnoks, (Torch, Ripper, and Buzzer), the single reintroduces their heavy metal ferocity combined with a sinister, anarchist energy that upends the conventional music scene.

Bringing COLD SLITHER to life through our partnership with RPM has been an absolute dream come true! As a child watching this fictional band on my TV screen, I never imagined I’d one day help transform them from animated rockstars into a tangible, sonic reality. From the meticulously crafted figures you can hold in your hand to the face-melting album we’ve created, G.I. JOE fans worldwide are about to experience something truly revolutionary this summer. This project bridges nostalgia with innovation in ways that will leave the community speechless—prepare for a musical assault that would make Cobra Commander proud!” Shares Ben”BMac” MacCrae — Associate Brand Manager, Global Brand Development & Marketing at Hasbro.

Reigning Phoenix Music General Manager and Co-founder Gerardo Martinez comments“It is a dream come true to be able to work on this amazing collaboration with my favorite, and one that happens to be one of the most iconic brands in the world: G.I.JOE!  It is also a pleasure to work on this amazing project alongside some of my friends from Hasbro and be able to bring Cold Slither into reality in the most Heavy Metal way! Many of us have waited 40 years for this to happen but the wait is finally over. And a special thanks to Michael Charles Hill for writing the original COLD SLITHER episode back in 1985.”

“It’s programs like these that make Hasbro’s goal of creating Magic Moments truly come to life! What started out as a cult-classic episode from the 1985 series G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero has culminated into a fan program for the ages – inclusive of toys, comics, and of course, music. It could not have been made possible without amazing licensees like Reigning Phoenix Music who put their passion, expertise, and fandom into everything they create. We’re extremely excited for everyone to rock out to this single and we plan to reveal even more as we move closer to San Diego Comic Con. So, as the single echos, we hope… “you’ll be joining us soon!””  says Alyse D’Antuono — Hasbro’s VP of Global Franchise Strategy & Management for Action Brands.

“Cold Slither” features bone-crushing riffs and an anthemic chorus, perfectly capturing the rebellious spirit of the ’80s and leading the charge in COLD SLITHER‘s resurgence. The infamous track, which initially captivated audiences as part of Cobra’s mind-control plot, is now reimagined with a compelling melody and legendary backstory, showcased in a newly released lyric video, animated by the legendary Costin Chioreanu.

About COLD SLITHER:

Cold Slither burst onto the scene with their now classic single, “Cold Slither”,  setting the stage for an even darker campaign with their upcoming album, “Cold Slither.” Helmed by the enigmatic Zartan and supported by his ruthless Dreadnoks—Torch, Ripper, and Buzzer—this band blends heavy metal ferocity with a sinister, anarchistic energy that upends the conventional music scene. Their signature sound unleashes a torrent of guttural guitars, boisterous bass, venomous vocals, and thunderous percussion, casting shadows across the musical landscape.

Each concert is a spectacle of chaos and brute force, with Cold Slither captivating hearts and demolishing instruments worldwide. Their music transcends generational divides, championing a dark new world order with each pulse-pounding beat. This band doesn’t just chase gold and platinum records; they aim to capture the minds and souls of their audience.

Conceived by Cobra Commander, Zartan and his Dreadnoks were transformed into Cold Slither, a heavy metal behemoth designed to captivate and influence America’s youth. With their cunning lyrics and compelling stage presence, they harness their music as a powerful tool for mass destruction and control.

Anticipation for their forthcoming album “Cold Slither” is building, with fans eager for a new chapter of anthems that promise not just to challenge but to change the industry. Prepare for an auditory onslaught that will resonate long after the lights fade. With Cold Slither, the revolution is not just televised, it’s an all-encompassing, reverberating force. Brace yourself to join their ranks and be changed. Their music doesn’t merely entertain; it indoctrinates.
