I first met Scott Coverdale back in 1988, while we were both attending the same Community College together. Our relationship has bonded into a legit brotherhood ever since. Scott has been a tremendous Metal researcher for Metal Odyssey these last several years, as well. In other words, Scott is my very BEST Metal Buddy. ‘Nuff said.
Scott Coverdale was hugely fortunate to attend the Black Sabbath concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, back on August 27th of this year. This of course was one stop for Black Sabbaths’ “The End” Tour.
Above: My autographed CD digipak (left inner side of duofold) – Tony Iommi & Geezer Butler.
I never thought in a million Metal years that Scott would purchase for me, as gifts, a tour tee and autographed “The End” CD for me, while he was at this show! Then again, this type of generosity from Scott is nothing new to me either. From everything that Scott told me about this Black Sabbath concert, he had a grand Metal experience!
Take a look below and above at the autographed tee and CD gifts I received from my Best Metal Buddy Scott! I still cannot believe I have this incredible cool and historic Black Sabbath concert merch! Thank you again, Scott! A brother like you I can never take for granted. Metal Be Thy Name!

“We have always known from the way our passionate fans treat us that we are number one with them,” said the band. “We have always enjoyed that mutual love fest. And now, to have our fans lift us to #1 on the Billboard Music Video Chart is by far the greatest honor that they can bestow upon our band. We are grateful for this testimony of dedication. BREAKING NEWS:Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the highly anticipated new studio album from PRIDE OF LIONS, FEARLESS, on January 27, 2017.
When Frontiers released Pride Of Lions’ groundbreaking first album in 2003, many people asked, “Is this one of those project bands that do one or two albums and then disappear – or a real band with staying power?”
Now, in the year 2017 the answer to that question will be very clear as the band release their FIFTH studio album, FEARLESS! Additionally, their best-selling “Live In Belgium” album and video proves to the world that Jim Peterik and Toby Hitchcock and the powerful Pride Of Lions band is not just a studio concoction, but a live force to be reckoned with, headlining shows in America and Europe.
“We are always trying to top ourselves,” states singer/ songwriter/ guitarist Jim Peterik. “This time I went back and listened closely to all the previous albums to hear the strongest assets of each record: what was working and what could be improved. I went into writing the FEARLESS material keeping that in mind. I feel it sticks closer to the template we set with our first release, yet goes to new places musically as well like using a Kansas style fiddle played by Andrew Ohlrich – on the video/single “All I See is You”.”
The songs and performances on FEARLESS are…well… truly fearless. The title track blazes from the speakers gaining steam with every chorus. “Take the highest ground – stand and fight- you gotta be harder – you gotta be tougher – you gotta be – fearless!” This could be the new battle cry for Rocky Balboa or any common man needing to make a difference in the world.
“When I got together with Jim in Chicago to record, things just caught fire,” enthuses Toby. “I sang 12 vocals in two days! That’s how inspired I was with the new material.”
“Toby hit new heights on this one,” raves Jim. “I was sitting behind the recording console with Larry Millas just one big goose bump as Toby glided from hard rockers like “Rising Up”, classic melodic rock like “All I See Is You” to a heartfelt ode to timeless love – “Everlasting Love.”
Future classics include “The Tell”, where the main character is giving off signals she may not even realize to the mesmerizing magic of “Silent Music” (“I can’t help it if I talk funny – I can’t express the way I feel in spoken words – hold on”) to the mysterious “Freedom of the Night”. That last one was written with former Jimi Jamison keyboardist Hal Butler and the lyric, chord changes and melody seem to channel what Jimi might now be singing if his life had not been tragically cut short.
“The last track is one of my faves,” states Toby Hitchcock. “I think we all can relate to the often painful process of figuring out just who we are and how we fit on this planet. “Unmasking the Mystery” is not something that happens all at once – it happens over time and on our last day we still won’t have all the answers.”
The album will be supported by live dates – in the States and abroad with the first show on January 28th as a part of Jim Peterik’s World Stage at Wentz Hall in Naperville, Illinois.
In early 2017, expect the premiere of the music video for “All I See Is You” directed by Greg Bizzarro. Greg has directed every POL video thus far, as well as the popular “Cold Blooded” video by Peterik / Scherer which starred Leann Marie of “I Can’t Hold Back” video fame.
So crank it up! The louder the better, after all “You gotta be fearless!!!”

Los Angeles, CA, October 5th 2016 – QUIET RIOT is very pleased to introduce Seann Nicols (formerly of Adler’s Appetite) as their new vocalist starting in 2017. Quiet Riot are currently in the studio with Seann recording their forthcoming full length album of all new material, to be released on Frontiers Records in early 2017. They will also be releasing a music video, which will be the first QUIET RIOT music video since 1989. The band will kick off their tour on January 27 in Medina, Minnesota and will continue their touring schedule around the globe.
Vocalist Jizzy Pearl who is departing to concentrate full-time on his solo career will finish off the 2016 QUIET RIOT tour dates through December. Frankie Banali says the departure is amicable. “QUIET RIOT thanks Jizzy for a great three years and we wish him the very best.”
QUIET RIOT is a rock & roll phenomenon. Famously described as the first Heavy Metal band to top the pop chart at #1 on Billboard magazine, the Los Angeles quartet became an overnight sensation thanks to their monster 1983 smash album “Metal Health”. After several member changes, and three years after the untimely passing of original lead singer Kevin DuBrow in 2007, Frankie Banali, an original member of the 1982 Metal Health classic line up, continued the musical legacy of QUIET RIOT along with bassist Chuck Wright who has been in and out of the band since 1982, and guitarist Alex Grossi who has been in the band since 2004.

“KIX is proud of the band’s legacy, but equally proud of our new chapter,” says Schenker. “We had an opportunity to work with some great film makers, so we just let the cameras roll everywhere, and had so much fun putting the project together. There was a true outpouring of love and admiration from our fans and our peers after the release of Rock Your Face Off and luckily, we had documented the recording sessions on film. Now we are excited to share the process of making the new album with our loyal fans. KIX thanks everyone involved and hopes everyone loves it as much as we loved making it!”
In 2014, KIX released their seventh full-length album, Rock Your Face Off(Loud & Proud Records) their first studio effort since 1995’s Show Business. The album debuted at #1 on Amazon’s “Hard Rock and Metal “chart, in the Top 50 on Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” chart, #5 on the “Independent Albums “chart, #11 on the “Top Internet “chart, #17 on the “Top Rock Albums” chart, #27 on the “Indy/Small Chain Core Stores” chart and #33 on the “Physical” chart. It also garnered rave reviews from publications such as Stereogumwho said, “KIX have made an album with all the spirit and joy and craftsmanship that they always brought, an album with a hooks-per-minute ratio enough to grab you even if you never heard of them before reading this review. The band plays with a sense of rhythmic push-pull that reminds you that people used to dance to this stuff, and that they still could, if they were so inclined…Its mere existence is an inspirational thing, and it’s a reminder that sometimes exploring new musical space isn’t the most important thing. Sometimes, songs are the most important thing.”

As many of you know, we are preparing a tour to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of To Hell With The Devil. Although we’re extremely excited about this tour, our band and ministry is facing a crossroads for a variety of reasons, including some personal matters affecting our bassist, Tim Gaines that have affected the unity of our band.
As a result, upon the conclusion of this tour, we have decided to take a hiatus to allow each band member to think and pray about the direction of the band going forward.
We believe the right thing to do is to be open with all of you so we can continue on with integrity and put to rest any false rumors and accusations. We also believe we must honor our commitments in moving forward with the tour.
The name “Stryper” is very important to us. What (and who) it represents is even more important. We take what we do very seriously as a band and ministry and we believe it’s our duty to take this hiatus based on our faith, so we can move forward in the right way.
We do appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
God Bless you all,
Stryper
From the Stryper Facebook – September 17, 2016:
Dear friends,
To adress a few concerns regarding our most recent statement:
1 – Tim has not left the band.
2 – We felt the need to make a statement based on a multitude of emails, texts, private messages and phone calls. Because of this, we felt that the right thing to do was to make you all aware of the situation before the tour rather than start the tour based on false rumors, speculations and gossip. We respect you all and you mean everything to us so we wanted to at least present a statement that would put to rest (at least to some degree) all the here say.
3 – The tour IS continuing. We are NOT canceling or postponing the tour. We made this decision based on honoring our commitments, as originally planned, with the original lineup.
4 – Stryper is not breaking up. We plan to take some time after the tour to reevaluate things and at the right time, we will proceed. There is more planned and we are looking forward to that.
5 – As stated, we are a ministry every bit as much as we are a rock band. Because of this, we have to deal with things accordingly and biblically. We’re not perfect, but we are accountable to God and each other. At least we should be. That’s not to be taken lightly or passively.
6 – Before you comment and respond emotionally, please understand that we have thought, prayed, talked and counseled with others for weeks about the right way to handle all of this. Our decision to release a statement with the content that it contains was based on patience, wisdom and honor. We’re trying to do the right thing. That’s all we can do.
On September 16th, 1970 – LED ZEPPELIN unseated the Beatles in The Most Popular Group category for the 1970 Melody Maker Poll Awards. Robert Plant was voted as Best Male Vocalist at this same awards. This historic event was hosted by The Savoy Hotel in London, England.
On September 16th, 1970 – Robert Plant and John Bonham did a TV interview on the BBC’s Nationwide.
On September 16th, 2016 – LED ZEPPELIN releases The Complete BBC Sessions; a newly re-mastered (re-release) which features 8 unreleased BBC recordings.
On September 16th, 2016 – LED ZEPPELIN‘s The Complete BBC Sessions is ranked at #22, on the iTunes Top 100 Albums Chart. Whoa!
Since 1992, the Swedish Mikkey Dee used to be a former band member of Motörhead until the dissolution of the rock band after the death of Lemmy Kilmister.
“We would like to thank James for so many years of lasting participation in the band and personal friendship. We understand and respect his need for time as he makes his way through the final stages of his healing process.”
“After our incredibly successful shows in the US, Europe and Asia, we are sure to have found a fantastic drummer with Mikkey Dee. He brings a fresh energy to the band and we look forward to the exciting time together that lies ahead.“ – SCORPIONS
On this day in KISSTORY September 10, 1975 – KISS released their legendary multi-platinum album ALIVE!. Whoa!
On September 10th, 1982 – The motion picture Sci-Fi/Thriller Endangered Species was released to wide-screen theaters, in the USA. This film stars Robert Urich from television cop/detective series fame (S.W.A.T., Vegas). What is very cool: Robert Urich was born in Toronto, Ohio! Dig it.
On September 10th, 2016 – The newly released studio album, The Last Stand, from Sweden’s SABATON is ranked at #10, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Hail SABATON!
On September 10th, 1950, AEROSMITH‘s legendary guitarist and songwriter JOE PERRY was born! Yeah!
Here’s a couple of Rock historic moments from the yesteryear of the iconic LED ZEPPELIN. There will never be another band like this one. Perhaps the very best ever? The debate shall forever continue…
On September 9th, 1970 – LED ZEPPELIN performed at the legendary Boston Garden, in Boston, Massachusetts.
On September 9th, 1971 – LED ZEPPELIN performed at the Hampton Roads Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia.
