BELUSHI SPEED BALL – Cosmo Joe’s Atomic Lounge, Dayton, Ohio – My buddy Troy and I took a short ride to downtown Dayton, Ohio to take in the fun from Kentucky’s very own BELUSHI SPEED BALL, last Friday night. Cosmo Joe’s Atomic Lounge became a welcomed free-for-all, with fans doing whatever the hell they wanted, to the crossover thrash of this good-times band.
No humans or animals were hurt in this joyous melee of airborne rolls of toilet paper, red solo cups, corrugated boxes, plastic bags and pool noodles. I did get involved myself and needed to be extra aware due to my terrible knees. I probably lost 50 calories, which is a plus. BELUSHI SPEED BALL kept their loyal fans (obviously) actively involved and elated to throw shit, non-stop, while laughs and smiles were contagious.
Vinny Castellano was a lively and charismatic frontman and should be proud of his band’s performance. We live during an unstable time right now and to be a part of this entertaining, comedic and thrash-tastic camaraderie is just what I have been yearning for! Metal be thy name – Stone

BELUSHI SPEED BALL Live footage – Cosmo Joe’s Atomic Lounge ~ April 17th, 2026
In March of 1990, four hard rock kids got together and recorded a four-song demo titled “Painkiller”. 30 years later, with some new technology and some help from Connecticut music legends, Mike Z Livingston and Static Era’s Jay Reason, Crossover is re-releasing their EP and bringing it back to life with more balls than ever.
Listen to Crossover’s timeless rocker, “True Believer”:
The EP includes three live bonus tracks, and their 4 original songs, “Painkiller”, “Identity”, “Too Many Fears” and “True Believer”. “It’s gritty, raw, and as old school as it gets,” says Jay “Ice” Piccirillo. “If you like Metallica Kill Em’ All meets DRI then this is a must listen! Enjoy and thank you all for the great memories!”
Crossover formed in Bridgeport, CT during the late 80s as part of the hardcore and metal scene that was beginning to flourish around New York City. Jay had an idea to put together a Metal/Hardcore/Thrash/Punk style band which, at the time, was labeled ‘Crossover’ music. Comprised of ScottSmith (rhythm guitar/vocals), Bill Smith (drums), Scott Camara (guitar) and Jay “Ice” Piccirillo (bass), the band played everywhere from keg parties to clubs, and quickly gained a loyal following.
During the Fall of 2002, the band reunited for a live benefit show that would feature Crossover, Payback, Sonick Plague, Dresden, Lost Generation, Forced Reality, and 76 percent Uncertain. The band’s lineup that night consisted of Jay, Bill Smith, GB Hammond from Lost Generation, Charlie Taylor from Payback, and Andy Reitano from Blastmat.
While the band’s lifespan was relatively short, their influence can still be felt today. Hatebreed singer, Jamey Jasta, bought Jay’s Mesa Boogie amp when they were in their beginning stages and told him he had a Crossover sticker on his bedroom door when he was 14 years old. Piccirillo recalls, “It was pretty damn cool hearing that.”
It is now 30 years later since the original demo was released and over the years technology has come a long way. Crossover now has the sound and mix they envisioned three decades ago, and are excited to share it with old and new fans alike.

Queens, NYC-based Crossover commandos SEIZURE CRYPT have recently released their latest full-length, You’ve BeenHad!, the band’s fourth self-released full-length since their 2004 inception.
SEIZURE CRYPT‘s D.I.Y. ethos and diehard self-promotion has done them well over the years, the band having played over 100 self-booked shows and having received hundreds of reviews from international media on their own. Their rambunctious live shows always involve costumes, combat and quite a bit of property destruction by the band’s dueling vocalists. The newest addition to the band’s ever-expanding discography, You’ve Been Had! rages with a dozen new tracks in under twenty-six minutes, which attempt to harness their most off-kilter, high-octane brew of Punk, Hardcore, Speed Metal and utter lunacy at its most energetic yet. After posting the album for sale digitally in March of this year, SEIZURE CRYPT have just recently pressed You’ve Been Had! onto CD, once again and as always making it available via their own 316 Productions.
