For the first time ever, Bruce shares his recollections of childhood and school days, joining Maiden, his solo career, aviation, his recent tongue cancer and much more. In typical Bruce style, this book was written exhaustively in longhand, filling seven A4 notebooks, which he has been working on meticulously whilst out on the road during The Book Of Souls World Tour!

ONE THING Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee liked to do over their years together in Motörhead, was grab a favourite song by another artist and give it a good old-fashioned ‘Motörheading’. To run them through the Motörizer if you will. To rock them, roll them and even give them an extra twist and edge.
In celebration of some of those finest moments, the band will release Under Cöver, a collection of some of their best covers, and a collection which will include the previously unreleased version of David Bowie’s timeless classic “Heroes”. Recorded during the Bad Magic sessions in 2015 by Cameron Webb, and was one of the last songs the band recorded together.
Under Cöver will be released on September 1st, 2017.
We’ve got a handful of shows in the southern US coming up this August in support of our new album, The Phoenix! Tickets for all 4 shows are available now.

Austin, Texas-based Metal group DEAD EARTH POLITICS has parted ways with drummer Mason Evans.
Evans co-founded DEAD EARTH POLITICS in 2005 with vocalist Ven Scott and contributed heavily to the band’s meteoric rise through the Austin Metal scene.
The band issued the following statement on Evan’s departure:
“One of the toughest decisions to make in a band is whether or not to part ways with a brother who has been there from the beginning. Mason is a founding member whose input and talents drove DEAD EARTH POLITICS’ from the onset. With that in mind we are announcing that due to various differences, we have decided to part ways. We wish Mason the absolute very best in his future endeavors and we are stoked as hell to share some big developments with everyone in the very near future.”
The announcement comes on the heels of DEAD EARTH POLITICS‘ 20-city “We Are Runescarred” tour in support of their latest EP The Mobius Hammersmith. Released in March through Pavement Music, The Mobius Hammersmith is the final chapter in a trilogy that began with 2014’s The Queen of Steel.
The band will spend the coming months working on material for a planned full-length release while searching for a new drummer.
Forged from the soul of the Austin metal scene, DEAD EARTH POLITICS is a blade that cuts like no other. Having been compared to the likes of Lamb of God, Iron Maiden, Pantera and other legends, this band strikes at many cores.
DEAD EARTH POLITICS is a five-time recipient of the Austin Chronicle’s “Best Performing Metal Band,” winning the award every year from 2012-2016.
They were also honored in 2014 with the “Ultimate Local Music Worldwide Track of the Year” for “Redneck Dragonslayer,” the opening track on The Queen of Steel EP.
Witherfall Guitarist Jake Dreyer and Vocalist Joseph Michael recently answered some questions about Nocturnes and Requiems, Adam Sagan and many more topics in this months This Is Metal Magazine! Check it out here:
On the 24th August 2007, AFM Records released the debut album by a brand new band called EDEN’S CURSE. Coming on like a cross between classic American bands Queensrÿche and Dokken, married with the European stylings of Pink Cream 69 or latter day Edguy, EDEN’S CURSE were warmly received by the global Rock & Metal press and public alike.
Fast forward to January 2016 and EDEN’S CURSE celebrate a decade together and in October of that year they released their fifth studio album ‘Cardinal’ on AFM Records. To celebrate the tenth anniversary, AFM Records and EDEN’S CURSE hatched a plan to re-record the classic debut album in its entirety. “The first album really was the foundation for all that was to follow. Ever since Nikola joined the band we have been inundated with requests to re-record some of the older material and whilst it would be great fun, it would also be the same amount of work as recording a brand new album.” says bassist Paul Logue.
Coupled with the re-recorded debut album is the ‘Live In Glasgow – Official Bootleg DVD’ which is the ‘Live With The Curse’ live album recording show in its entirety. Filmed at The Classic Grand in Glasgow on 28th November 2014, the release marks the band’s first official live DVD release, albeit in a bootleg form. “The footage is absolutely excellent” states bassist Logue. “We did not intend to film a DVD, but the audio recording company brought two cameras along to capture the show and when we saw the results we were really surprised!“ he adds.
‘Eden’s Curse – Revisited’ is the ultimate package for EDEN’S CURSE fans old and new and a fantastic introduction to the band’s music. It’s a true celebration of the record that started it all, from the guys who carry the legacy forward. Over 60 mins of music and 100 mins of film make ‘Eden’s Curse – Revisited’ a must have for all Eden’s Curse & Melodic Metal fans!
There are bands which are badly missed once they disappear from the scene. One of those examples is Swedish Melodic Metal masters Nocturnal Rites – The Official Site who released their latest album “The 8th Sin” in 2007 and afterwards slowly slipped into a hiatus kind of situation.
We are happy to come up with good news now: NOCTURNAL RITES are back! And not only that; the band has just put finishing touches on their brand new album, titled “Phoenix”, which will be released on September 29th via AFM.
The band states: “We can’t wait to share this new album with everyone. It’s been long overdue. Needless to say, it feels great to finally be back.”
NOCTURNAL RITES are:

Psych/Doom metal band DEMON HEAD have teamed up with PureGrainAudio.com to stream “We Are Burning”. The track is taken from their album Thunder On The Fields which will be released in North America on July 7th 2017.
After a demo tape that quickly sold out, the Winterland 7” came shortly after the bands’ first tour of Scandinavia In the early days of spring 2014, Demon Head travelled to a small house in the country side near the infamous Heather Hills and recorded eight songs for their debut album Ride the Wilderness. The record was released a year later and the first press sold out in a matter of months. The acclaim of the underground was significant and the album was praised for its skilled songwriting, warm production and a certain sinister catchiness.
As 2017 begins, the new album Thunder on the Fieldswill be released on The Sign Records. While staying true to their signature sound, the songwriting is more refined, the songs more gritty and burning with urgency.
With new travels being planned in Europe and overseas, there is indeed lightning on the horizon and thunder on the fields.
Can’t wait for the new album “PARANORMAL” to come out! I’m excited to unveil the new album’s cover, featuring photos by Rob Fenn. Paranormal also features special guest appearances by U2‘s Larry Mullen Jr., ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons, and Deep Purple‘s Roger Glover.
The album brings together tracks from the band’s late 80’s/early 90’s foray into Hard Rock

New York City die-hards ANTIDOTE have teamed with Old School Metal Records to unearth an overlooked era in the band’s storied history.
ANTIDOTE: The Rock Years features 12 remastered tracks from the band’s late 80’s/early 90’s foray into Hard Rock. Old School Metal Records will release the album June 9th on vinyl, CD and digital formats.
Part of the first wave of American Hardcore, ANTIDOTE released the iconic Thou Shalt Not Kill in 1983, soon after the band first came together in New York City’s lower east side.
After shutting down as a Hardcore band in 1986, ANTIDOTE reunited as a Hard Rock outfit in 1988. Led by guitar player / principal songwriter Robb Nunzio & vocalist / filmmaker Drew Stone, the band was heavily influenced by Guns & Roses, Judas Priest and similar bands of the era. They soon released the Garrett Uhlenbrock (The Ramones) produced album Return 2 Burn on Metropolis Records.
The band was a mainstay on the circuit in New York City at the time including The Limelight, The Cat Club and L’amour with many of its contemporaries including Circus Of Power and Blitzspeer. ANTIDOTE released Viva Los Pendejos in 1991, but folded again for good a year later.
Following a 16 year hiatus, the band reunited in 2008 and is now enjoying a resurgence playing a combination of both styles. A compilation of the best tracks from multiple recordings from the ‘Rock era’ – including Return 2 Burn, We’re Comin Afta You and Road Warrior – have been compiled and remastered for this compilation release.
“Revisiting these tracks many years later was really great and now that they are remastered they sound better than ever” said Guitarist Nunzio.
“I am excited that the best of this era is finally going to see the light of day” said vocalist Drew Stone. “People in Europe have always requested these tracks and it’s nice that they are finally going to get the star treatment.”

Hearing the news of Chris Cornells’ passing was a shock to my system. After last year’s dreadful losses of musics’ most significant legends, who could ever predict Chris Cornell would leave us in 2017? Not me. My day job supervisor, Mark, told me the news at around 6:30 in the morning this past Thursday. All I can remember is my saying aloud: “no, no, no, no” and feeling like another ruthless blow to the world of music has emerged once again.
I feel very bad for the circumstance that Chris Cornell died from. No one will ever know what his saddened soul and heart were feeling, leading up to his suicide. I also feel sorrow (if not more) for his family that he’s left behind; I cannot imagine their enormous grief. I always say to myself and others, the life of celebrity and fortune is not a guarantee of harmony and control. I always considered (and forever will) that Chris Cornell was the greatest, if not one of the greatest singers of my generation.
Not to sound selfish, only the thought that both Soundgarden and Audioslave are done makes me very sad. Even any future solo work from Chris Cornell is gone. Still, compared to his wife and children losing both a husband and father, there is no comparison to us fans losing only his bands and future musical creations. I express the deepest of condolences to his wife, children and extended family; may they stay strong as ever and never give up hope. I sincerely hope Chris Cornell has now found the peace and happiness he was looking for. May God rest his soul.
Die-hard and casual fans of Jorn Lande know he can sing lights out. I love the vocals and discography from Jorn Lande, both with Masterplan and solo as JORN. Jorn Lande is a world-class singer of Heavy Metal and he has nothing to lose by releasing Heavy Rock Radio, an album of 12 cover songs… or does he? JORN sings very well on songs: Stormbringer, Rainbow In The Dark and Don’t Stop Believing; only the vocals of David Coverdale, Ronnie James Dio and Steve Perry, respectively, made their songs magical and timeless, whereas JORN is better off at being a fan of these three songs.
Certainly, there are slight differences musically with each song on this album, compared to the original song; for me to get into each and every nuance regarding such differences would make me look like I have nothing better to do. Seriously. I’ll try to give you all the scary details about this album; so strap yourself in for I’m not being Mr. fanboy right now.
JORN fails miserably with the cover of the iconic Queen song: Killer Queen. It’s so stale both vocally and musically that if I was producing this album it would have been left off. Hotel California is no better. Sorry, this song should never, ever, ever be covered by nobody. All that JORN did with the Eagles Hotel Californiais make it into a second-tier, county fair, who cares, (let’s make a) Heavy Metal cover song. The electric guitar brilliance of Eagles legends Don Felder and Joe Walsh on the original Hotel California song is breathtaking to me, especially their extended dual-solo; why JORN messed with this is beyond me.
Above: Jorn Lande
JORN even (gulp) covers I Know There’s Something GoingOn by (gulp) ABBA member Frida. Oh my God is this song a disaster. WTF!? JORN? What were you thinking, dude? Why pick this song? JORN’s cover of this early 80’s bubble-gum song should not be. I’m not sorry for saying that. It’s that seriously awful. It just sounds like Jorn Lande was not pumped up for this album at all. I won’t even mention the cover of the Black Sabbath classic: Die Young. Forget about it. Not worth our time here.
The two huge highlights on this album are Jorn Lande and his band knocking the Paul Stanley song, Live To Win, right out of the park. JORN also excels with the cover of John Farnham’s song: You’re The Voice. Jorns’ vocals are powerful on these songs, the way it should be. I honestly love these covers of two such inspirational songs and JORN actually gives them both a jolt or two of extra inspiration. Unfortunately, minus the two aforementioned songs, this album as a sum of its parts is absolutely not very good at all and I am shocked as hell by it all. – Stone

Stone Says: I am absolutely psyched outta my skull to hear this new STYX studio album! STYX forever! Whoa! I can care in the least that Dennis DeYoung is not with STYX anymore. No offense to Dennis DeYoung at all; he’s been doing his own gig for years now very successfully. For God’s sake, those that complain about Dennis DeYoung no longer being with STYX: GET OVER IT. Take some EX-LAX. That’s life.
It’s been how many years now that STYX has survived (very well) without Dennis DeYoung? KISS has survived without Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. It’s the way the Rock ‘N’ Roll world turns. ‘Nuff said. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone
UK Rock trio RavenEye are thrilled to announce they have been invited to tour Europe as Special Guests of KISS, one of rock’s most notorious and influential bands. They have also been added as Special Guests on the Hellyeah UK tour in April. The band was recently added to the Download festivals in Spain and France, as well as Bulgaria’s Plovdiv Festival.
Since releasing their wildly successful EP, ‘Breaking Out’, and debut album ‘NOVA, RavenEye has toured globally, supporting Slash, Deep Purple, The Darkness and Halestorm amongst others.
