RICHARD FORTUS & DIZZY REED DEPART THE DEAD DAISIES

BAND RECORDING NEW ALBUM WITH MARTI FREDERIKSEN IN NASHVILLE FOR SPV RECORDS

_______________________________

From The Dead Daisies newsletter:

New York, NY (January 28th, 2016) – The Dead Daisies are proud to announce the addition of Doug Aldrich to the lineup as lead guitarist of the powerful music collective. Guitarist Richard Fortus and keyboardist Dizzy Reed will be stepping aside to be a part of a momentous project in 2016.

Aldrich is currently in Nashville with the Daisies working with producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Gavin Rossdale, Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry) on their follow-up to the album Revolución, released last year following the bands trip to Cuba, where the classic rock group were part of a cultural exchange as guests of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, Cuban Institute of Music and the Cuban Rock Agency. The still untitled album will be released globally on SPV Records later this year.

Aldrich joins bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), guitarist David Lowy (MINK, Red Phoenix), John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream) on vocals and Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol) on drums.

“I’m very, very happy to join my friends Marco, Brian, John and David in the next chapter of The Dead Daisies,” proclaims Aldrich. “I love the band and I’m looking forward to getting busy on the new record. This band is bringing back a raw, back to the bones sound that a lot of groups go for but The Dead Daisies are looking to nail. At this point in time, we are looking to have a kick ass Rock ‘n’ Roll album in the can by spring 2016.”

Fortus couldn’t be happier, saying: “When we started speaking about finding someone to replace me, the first suggestion I had was Doug Aldrich. It doesn’t get any better than Doug in my book. I am so happy that he is able and willing to step in and take over. I think that it will elevate the band to the next level. Thanks to everyone that has supported the Daisies over the last couple of years. Stay tuned to see what they come up with next. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!”

David Lowy, one of the original founders of The Dead Daisies said: “We’re really going to miss Richard and Dizzy. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to write, record and perform with such talented world-class musicians and all-around great guys. I’ve personally learnt so much from both of them. We’re very excited to announce Doug Aldrich will be joining The Dead Daisies in the lead guitar role. Doug was Richard’s first pick to replace him. He’s a highly accomplished musician, performer and songwriter and we’re really looking forward to Doug joining us as the Dead Daisies adventure rolls on.”

Marco Mendoza couldn’t be more excited as well, of course: “Doug and I shared the stage for many years with Whitesnake and have been involved in many recording sessions and projects. He is a powerful guitar player and performer, can’t wait to bring him in on our next efforts in the studio and on the road. VIVA LA ROCK!”

Since exploding onto the scene in 2013, The Dead Daisies have taken the Classic Rock world by storm, releasing two albums to date & touring with the biggest names in rock including: ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Judas Priest, KISS and Def Leppard.

2015 was a banner year that saw the band release their 2nd album, make a historic visit to Cuba, join the line-up for some of the biggest European Rock Festivals including Download and Graspop, tour around the globe with Whitesnake and KISS as well as play a sold out triumphant headline show in Paris. The band then returned to the UK for the first time in two years to play a series of Sold Out club shows, including the special guest slot at Planet Rock Stock in Wales.

With the year having just started, The Dead Daisies are well underway to continue to rewrite the book on Classic Rock. With a killer new album in the works, massive touring being booked and fueled by their ever-growing fan base, the band is showing no signs of letting up.

Rock ‘n’ Roll is alive and well!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR From THE DEAD DAISIES!

The Dead Daisies - Happy New Year - 2016 - promo band pic - #MO3939ILMFMD99

Dear Rockers Everywhere,

we’re calling in to wish all of you an amazing new year! 2016 will be awesome, with new music, some exciting announcements and as always lots of Rock’n’Roll! We’re looking forward to seeing all of you again to have a good time together. We especially want to thank you for the support, the amazing shows and the sheer love of music in 2015!

During the last year, there has been an overwhelming amount of ‘First times’: For example on Nov 8th, the opening night with Whitesnake in Moscow, a first for The Dead Daisies which would be followed by a long list of countries and cities visited (again) for the first time by the band including Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia. We played a headline show in Paris, which turned out to be a very special celebration of joy & music, and headed for the UK and (another first) a headlining tour. We also made a welcome return to Israel. Quite a different line-up of the band played around the same time two years ago. This time around, John Corabi, Marco Mendoza and Brian Tichy were making their first (that word again) trip.

We can’t wait until we will be making more ‘firsts’ in 2016. And we would love for you to join the ride!

Happy New Year,
The Dead Daisies

THE DEAD DAISIES – HEAD TO THE STATES TO TOUR WITH LEGENDARY ROCK ACTS BAD COMPANY AND LYNYRD SKYNYRD & RELEASE NEW SINGLE “FACE I LOVE”

The US summer is synonymous with bands going on the road and for The Dead Daisies they’ll be spending it on tour with British Classic Rock giant Bad Company led by singer Paul Rodgers and American Southern Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd for dates in the United States starting July 10.

Following the release of their self-titled debut earlier this year, The Dead Daisies are proud to announce the Face I Love EP, out Friday 1 August. The eponymous single drops Friday 20 June along with an innovative interactive Facebook Application that will allow fans to be a part of the album cover art and music video. The Dead Daisies are happy to announce that they have signed and will release their new single and EP with local indie label Social Family Records in Australia and New Zealand.

“This is the first group of songs that Diz, Marco and I have recorded with the Daisies,” declares Fortus. “I haven’t been this excited about a recording in a long, long time and think they really capture what the band has developed in to over the last year of touring. It’s new music for classic rock fans!”

The touring lineup includes Jon Stevens (Noiseworks/INXS) on vocals, David Lowy (Mink/Red Phoenix) on guitar, Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses/Psychedelic Furs) on lead guitar, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake) on bass, Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses/Hookers & Blow) on keys and are pleased to announce the new addition of Brian Tichy (Whitesnake/Foreigner/Billy Idol) on drums.

“I am PSYCHED to hit, and I do mean, HIT!, the road, as well as every drum I can fit on the riser, this Summer with my buds in The Dead Daisies. We clicked the first time and we get to do it again with some of our favorite bands of all time! Bad Company with Simon Kirke! Lynyrd Skynyrd with good bud Michael Cartellone!! Yeah! My goal; groove hard, have fun, and swing for the cheap seats! I look forward to “A Dead Daisies Summer Of Rock, Volume, Ampitheaters, Power And Friends! See y’all there!!! – Brian Tichy

The Dead Daisies - Bad Company - Lynyrd Skynyrd - promo tour flyer - US - 2014

Despite being a band that consists of seasoned rock veterans, The Dead Daisies celebrate technology and are heavily integrated into social media. On Monday, June 23, 2014 The Dead Daisies will launch the “Face I Love” App on their Facebook page and as well as a mobile app. Created to represent the iconic daisy skull logo of the band, Facebook users will be able to upload an image of the face they love to the App to create a photo-mosaic portrait of The Dead Daisies skull – and make it bloom.

“Face I Love is dedicated to all MUSIC FANS around the world especially THE DEAD DAISIES FANS, because without you, we don’t get to do what we do,” attests Stevens. “It’s like having a massive extended family seeing your smiling faces at our shows and for us that makes it all worthwhile.”

When the project comes to a close on July 27, the photo-mosaic portrait of The Dead Daisies’ floral skull, made up of thousands of images of fans of the band, will be used as the artwork for EP, music video, single and other promotional items. The promotion is a true collaboration between the band and their fans, bringing real meaning to the title of the song, “Face I Love”.

Marco Mendoza affirms, “’Face I Love,’ was written for our fans and all the faces we see out in the audience when we play. I believe it was one of the first songs that we all collaborated on in the studio for the first time and BAM!!  Magic!!”

This will be the bands second tour of the United States, The Dead Daisies were part of the massive 25-date Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival through the US and Canada, along side Alice In Chains, & Jane’s Addiction among others in August and September of 2013.

The Dead Daisies’ self-titled debut album was released in the US and Canada through Caroline/Universal in August 2013 to exceptional reviews and was a featured iTunes release. Their first single “Lock ’N’ Load”, a track co-written by and featuring legendary guitarist Slash received airplay on radio networks across the U.S. including national airplay on SiriusXM satellite radio, both Alice Cooper’s and Nikki Sixx’s popular syndicated radio programs and was named Rolling Stone’s Daily Download.

The video for the single has been shown on over 20 outlets including play on Much Music, which beams into more than 30 million homes across North America. The song also stormed the UK radio airwaves and was placed on a number of key playlists including Team Rock, Kerrang Radio, and went to number 1 on Planet Rock Radio. It has also received spins on the UK’s largest station BBC Radio 2. Their follow-up second single “Washington” was equally successful and went top 20 on the US Rock radio chart (Mediabase).

This year is set to be a busy year ahead for The Dead Daisies with more dates around the world and the global release of a brand new EP and single in July.

THE DEAD DAISIES Skull Photos Banned From Facebook!

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, music news, news, rock bands, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on April 30, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

The Dead Daisies - 2013 - promo banner and logo

DAISIES FANS STAND UP TO FACEBOOK IN THE NAME OF ART!

As reported by The Dead Daisies:

As all our Dead Daisies fans know, we love skulls. We endeavour to find the coolest skulls the internet has to offer and share them with everyone on our Facebook page. Last Saturday we posted a photo of a human skull. It was created by seven women covered in body paint, lying down to form the shape of a skull. It was a modern interpretation of Salvador Dali’s masterpiece ‘In Voluptas Mors’.

The photo was a received extremely well, with huge appreciation, only to have it removed by Facebook with their reason being that it “didn’t follow the Facebook Community Standards”.

See image below…

Skull - 7 ladies shape - art

Not knowing whether Facebook realised that this was in fact an interpretation of Dali’s masterpiece, we then posted an image of the original masterpiece, which included an image of Dali, and asked the fans if they deemed the image to be of offensive/inappropriate nature.

Salvador Dali - In Voluptas Mors - 330990

The comments poured in, with thousands of fans sharing their absolute disbelief that such great art was banned. But alas, Facebook stepped in AGAIN, and removed the image, even after all of the support on the post.

We then decided to research these ” Facebook Community Standards”, and came across the following:Facebook - nudity and pornography rules - 2014

After reading this, it is abundantly clear that we have NOT in anyway, breached their guidelines as we have not shared any explicit sexual content, and have shared a significant art piece by one of the greatest artists of our time.

The Dead Daisies are big believers in freedom of speech and do not want to sit quietly while Facebook exercise unjust and inconsistent censorship.

It makes us ask, what should be deemed acceptable and what is unacceptable when there are thousands of images and videos of violence, racism, sexism, and hate that circulate daily?

We want to take a stand for the arts, and we need you to help!!

Today we want everyone to post either of the images we posted on Facebook to their personal or artist page, and use the hashtag #DaisiesLiveForArt.

Let’s rally together (peacefully!), and make a stand for good art!

Thank you all for your time!
