2025 is another year that hasn’t been kind in the news department, with the passing of music artists. My condolences to the family, friends, bandmates and fans of Ace Frehley, affectionately known also as Space Ace and Spaceman. 74 years old is young, as I’ve grown and been reminded how precious life on Earth is.
Ace Frehley (birth name Paul Daniel Frehley) was a founding member and lead guitarist of KISS and highly successful solo artist during his post KISS career. What a career! Performing live consistently and recording albums that have endured an everlasting relevance to this very day, Ace Frehley kept his showmanship Rockin’ straight into 2025.
As I grew up in the mid 70’s through the 80’s, KISS had that wow factor from their personas to their accessible discography and everything in-between. Ace Frehley was the member of KISS I always wished had more songs featuring him as a singer.
Listening to Ace Frehley sing and play his magic on “Shock Me,” 2000 Man” and “Speedin’ Back To My Baby” will be on repeat for awhile now, as my fondness for this Rock icon has never been stronger. I’ll also play very loud Aces’ guitar splendor with the KISS classic: “What Makes The World Go ‘Round.” Plus, the albums of Frehley’s Comet will be bringing back good times memories as well, for the remainder of my life.
Thank you, Ace Frehley, and rest and also rock in peace. You were a major soundtrack to my life. That one time I saw you perform live, with your band Frehley’s Comet, I’ll continue to cherish and talk about forever. God Bless your soul, Space Ace. – Stone

Oct. 9, 2025 – Death Cult laid the groundwork for the band we now know as The Cult, and in 2023, to mark the band’s 40th anniversary, Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, along with John Tempesta on bass and Charlie Jones on drums, revived Death Cult for a special run of shows.
Out on Jan. 16, Paradise Live is a 16-track live album that documents this rebirth of Death Cult. Recorded at the iconic Albert Hall in Duffy’s hometown of Manchester on Nov. 18, 2023, the release, which features no overdubs, will be available on 2LP, CD, and digitally. Two editions of the vinyl will be available: a black splatter edition available exclusively from the band’s webstore, and a white splatter edition will be available everywhere else: https://deathcult.ffm.to/paradiselive.

The Cult’s first incarnation was Southern Death Cult, formed in 1981, releasing their sole, self-titled album posthumously in 1983. That same year, Death Cult formed, with Ian Astbury joining forces with Billy Duffy for a musical partnership that has endured for 40+ years. Death Cult became The Cult in 1984 releasing Dreamtime that same year.
Ian and Billy initially weren’t sure how many shows they would do as Death Cult, but the post-punk gothic futurists decided to listen to the requests to keep the fervor going. The next leg of shows begins tonight in Niagara Falls and continues to Oct. 30 in Los Angeles. These truly special evenings will have Death Cult opening for The Cult.
The Cult has enjoyed numerous international and U.S. gold and platinum certifications. Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy have released 11 studio albums over The Cult’s 40-year career. The band found international renown with the 1985 album, Love, which featured the enduring rock anthem “She Sells Sanctuary,” as well as the oft-heard follow-up single “Rain.”

Italian/Swedish hard rock/heavy metal band Hell In The Club share today their new single and accompanying lyric video, “Robert the Doll”, ahead of the release of their new studio album, Joker In The Pack, out on November 7, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl.
Vocalist Tezzi Persson revealed the story behind the track: “The story of Robert the Doll originates from the early 1900s, when a young boy received a seemingly innocent handmade doll as a gift. Soon after, strange things began happening in the house. The doll was said to move on its own, its expression changing when no one was looking… Watching… Waiting.”
“Whenever something went wrong, the boy had only one explanation: “Robert did it”. Over time, fear took hold. The doll was locked away but never forgotten”, she continued. “Today, the doll resides in a museum in Key West, Florida. Yet, many claim his spirit still lingers. Visitors who mock or disrespect him report accidents, misfortune, and strange occurrences shortly after. So, be on your best behavior… and beware of Robert the Doll.”

Hell In The Club, a killer hard rock band with a style rooted in the classic ‘80s sound and its own modern identity, return with their seventh studio album, the first with Swedish singer Tezzi Persson.
The band stated: “This album marks a new era for us, the first chapter of a new beginning. Nine hard rock gems, plus a moving ballad, for an album that’s anything but boring. Founded by Andrea “Andy” Buratto (Secret Sphere), Dave “Damna” Moras (Elvenking) and Andrea “Picco” Piccardi, the band has carved out a solid reputation through six acclaimed studio albums, extensive European touring with acts like Crashdïet, Jettblack, and Crucified Barbara, and appearances at major festivals including Sonisphere, Basin Fire Fest, and Heineken Jammin’ Festival.
After signing to Frontiers Records in 2017, Hell In The Club released Hell Of Fame (2020), the KamikazeEP (2020, celebrating their 10th anniversary), and their sixth album F.U.B.A.R. (2022), a straight-up hard rock record hailed as one of their strongest to date.
Following the departure of founding vocalist Dave Moras, the band faced a turning point. Instead of replacing him with a similar voice, bassist Andy proposed a bold shift: introducing a female singer. Enter Terese “Tezzi” Persson (Infinite & Divine, Venus 5), a powerhouse vocalist from Sweden with a voice perfectly suited to the band’s raw, high-energy style. After a single rehearsal, the choice was clear.
In April 2024, Tezzi officially joined the band, debuting with the single “Carolina Reaper.” Momentum quickly built toward the creation of their seventh album: Joker In The Pack.

With their latest offering Stereo Crush,GOTTHARD reached the top of the official album chart for the 17th time (and for the 13th time in a row!) in their home country Switzerland. The band’s Austrian (#7) and German (#11) fan bases also gave them plenty of reason to celebrate in recent days.

CLOCKTOWERS have released their new single “Ashes,” the centerpiece of their upcoming debut record Genesis. Formed in 2022 by Tarek Puska and Dakota Logan after a chance reunion in Reily, Ohio, the band quickly rediscovered the chemistry built during their years together in a previous metal project. What began as an impromptu jam soon became a focused writing partnership, leading to a record that merges generations of influence into a sound that is unmistakably their own.
“Ashes” showcases that identity with striking clarity. The song begins with a hypnotic riff before crashing into full force, weaving articulate guitars, a driving rhythm, and vocals that carry both grit and vulnerability. Alternative rock collective KING ULTRAMEGA, featuring members of ALICE IN CHAINS, ANTHRAX, MASTODON, and SOUNDGARDEN, have returned with a haunting instrumental rendition of the AUDIOSLAVE classic, “Be Yourself“. This new single release once again aims to celebrate Chris Cornell’s musical genius while raising funds and awareness for MusiCares. MusiCares is the Recording Academy’s nonprofit that provides mental health, addiction recovery, and emergency services to those in the music community.
“Be Yourself”features legendary guitarist Joe Satriani on lead guitar, echoing vocalist Chris Cornell’s melodic motifs and building on the song’s phrasings. Though following in Cornell’s footsteps on a different instrument sounds like a tall order, Satriani rose to the challenge, proud to show his love for a fallen hero.
Expertly replicating the essence of the song with crystal-clear lead tones, tasteful vibrato, and subtle pedal effects, Satriani lets his guitar sing with all the passion and tenderness that the song’s lyrics originally conveyed. This loving instrumental homage proves that the message and power behind AUDIOSLAVE’s composition transcends words.
Satriani comments, “[Chris Cornell] was a brilliant vocalist and communicator. He often used his voice like an instrument, shaping the tone of his voice like a guitarist would finesse riffs and phrases. I took a deep dive into his magical sensibilities and came up with a multi-tracked guitar production approach that I felt would pay proper homage to his brilliance.”
The concept for an instrumental rendition of “Be Yourself” originated with the bassist, producer, and mastermind of KING ULTRAMEGA, Mark Menghi. As a producer, he envisioned a version of the song that deftly balanced the art of paying respect to the original, while also reimagining the song with a unique musical voice from Satriani. As a bassist, Menghi strove to keep the bass parts nearly identical to the original song, allowing Satriani the freedom to lend his own voice to the music.
Renowned drummer Kenny Aronoff, who has been named one of the greatest drummers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, and has toured and recorded with a who’s who of legendary artists such as THE ROLLING STONES, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS, PAUL MCCARTNEY, JOHN FOGERTY and many more, provides the laid-back, but emotionally-resonant groove of “Be Yourself”, laying the foundation with Menghi for Satriani’s melodies to shine.
Menghi comments, “I remember like it was yesterday, I was on a run through some crazy trail, just zoning out and the original song came on through my headphones… as I was running, I remember hearing Chris sing ‘to be yourself is all that you can do’ it was like he was talking to me… then thought to myself ‘I can totally hear this as an instrumental a-la Satch style’… My hope is that whomever is listening to this song hears Chris over Joe’s guitar and understands that we are paying homage to Chris with our take on this tune.”
Aronoff comments, “I listened to ‘Be Yourself’ over and over again, absorbing the lyrics and the feel and vibe of this song, then I recorded my drums. Their recording had an emotional impact on me and that had a big effect on my performance.”

Silver Lining builds upon the band’s acclaimed 2022 debut, Memories, expanding their sound with greater atmosphere, soaring harmonies, and the seamless interplay of male and female vocals. The band members are no strangers to metal though, as they call have been part of the incredible power metal band WIDOW, who have released their work via Cruz del Sur and Pure Steel previously.
Formed in 2019, Infinity Dream draws from the dark grandeur of Tony Martin era Black Sabbath, the drama of Dio, and the mysticism of Warlord and Rainbow; all while crafting songs with their own voice and emotional weight. Their music blends the heaviness of doom with the melodic spirit of classic metal, making Silver Lining a compelling listen for both devoted underground fans and the new legion of fans who have come to love bands like Ghost and Witchcraft.
Silver Lining was recorded at Wootensound Studios with drums tracked at Sonark Studios, produced by John Wooten III and Chris Bennett, and mixed by Steven Raets of Sonark Media. The album’s striking artwork and visual design were created by Chris Harris.
The new music video from heavy rock all-stars ALPHA DESTROYER – featuring Martin Sweet (Crashdïet), Kelly LeMieux (Buckcherry), and Eric Sexton-Dorsett (Sleepless), is now streaming. “Lobotomized” marks the third single off the band’s upcoming debut album, Fast Lane.
A true ripper in every sense, “Lobotomized” anchors the album’s thematic momentum, cementing the band’s vision for sonic intensity in untamed fashion.
Fast Lane is due out this fall on Necromantic Press Records. Physical copies of Fast Lane, including limited-edition red splatter and standard black vinyl, will begin shipping on October 15. Rising rock force KALAMITY KILLS unleashes a bold and reverent take on “I Don’t Know” with their latest video release, featuring powerhouse drummer Ray Luzier (KORN) and legendary bassist Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, THE WINERY DOGS). This electrifying reinterpretation of the classic track pays homage to the enduring legacy of the Prince of Darkness himself: OZZY OSBOURNE.
The idea for the tribute was sparked after the band witnessed OZZY’s final performance at the Back to the Beginning Concert in Birmingham, England. Deeply moved, KALAMITY KILLS set out to honor the icon who shaped so much of their musical DNA.
Guitarist JAMEY PERRENOT, whose playing is deeply influenced by the late, great RANDY RHOADS, infused this version of “I Don’t Know” with both reverence and fire. Fans of OZZY will also hear subtle nods to other classics woven throughout: a sonic Easter egg hunt for the diehards.

Sept. 4, 2025 – The Cult reissue two of their acclaimed albums, Choice of Weapon and Hidden City, on vinyl on Oct. 17 via Cooking Vinyl.
Originally released in 2012 and 2016 respectively, the albums form part of a trilogy that witnessed the rebirth of the band with Record Collector dubbing Choice of Weapon “their best album in years,” and The Guardian noting Hidden City features “the strongest Cult songs in years” in a four-star review.
Available now for pre-order, Choice of Weapon arrives as a 2LP limited-edition color-in-color effect vinyl (LP1: red/black vinyl, LP2: purple.black vinyl). Hidden City has been newly remastered for vinyl by Justin Shturtz at Sterling Sound and is presented as a 2LP set (LP1: red vinyl and LP2: white vinyl).
Choice of Weapon was recorded in the California desert with Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, Masters of Reality) at the helm and finished by long-time collaborator Bob Rock who first worked with the band on Sonic Temple. Driven by the lead single “For the Animals,” Choice of Weapon earned iTunes’ Rock Album of the Year in 2012 and debuted at #1 on the UK Rock Chart. Aug. 22, 2025, LOS ANGELES — Visionary musician, poet, and activist Serj Tankian returns with a stunning new project, Covers, Collaborations & Collages; a genre-spanning collection that celebrates artistic unity, reinvention, and storytelling.
The first single, “Electric Dreams,” (listen: https://createmusic.fm/electricdreams) is available today, via Serjical Strike Records/Create Music Group, launching a ten-week release schedule where a new track will drop each week, culminating in the full compilation album, releasing on Oct. 24, 2025.

This deeply personal and eclectic body of work features Tankian’s powerful reinterpretations and remarkable collaborations. Among the highlights is a beautifully haunting cover of Chris de Burgh’s “I’m Counting On You,” reimagined with Tankian’s unmistakable emotional intensity.
Covers, Collaborations & Collages showcases striking creative partnerships with some of today’s most innovative artists. Tankian joins with lauded producer Deadmau5 on the hypnotic “A Seed,” New Zealand singer/songwriter Bic Runga’s ethereal voice weaves with Tankian’s in the duet “Things Unspoken,” and acclaimed composer Lucas Vidal creates a sonic canvas upon which Tankian vocally illustrates a scene of the devolution of civilization and the end times, bellowing “There are no more empires / Just burning campfires” on the powerful and cinematic “Apocalyptic Dance.”
Rounding out the collection, Tankian’s cover of Armenian songwriter Ruben Hakhverdyan’s “When Death Arrives,” is a poignant reminder of the reality of our mortality, musing through the eyes of the departed and reminding listeners of the undeniable importance love and truth hold in this world.
Adding a visual dimension to the music, each single’s artwork, and the album’s evocative main cover, has been created by artist D.S. Bradford, who also contributes lead guitar work on the soaring track “Kneeling Away From The Sun.”
With each weekly release, Tankian will share the inspirations, stories and artistic intentions behind the songs, inviting listeners into the creative process like never before.
“Similar to Foundations, these are pre-existing archival recordings, some of them from way back,” says Tankian. “I wanted to put out a record of collaborations I haven’t released before, along with covers, which I haven’t done. The rest, the collages, are parts that fit the puzzle in the same tone, the same vibe.”

Following the May release of their now acclaimed third album, Our Road To Dust, on The Lasers Edge, New York City’s eclectic progressive rock quartet EDENSONG has been announced to play the annual ProgDay festival this month.
ProgDay 2025 marks the 30th edition of the world’s longest-running progressive rock festival, the gathering set to take place Saturday, August 30th and Sunday, August 31st at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The event will include performances by Nospun, Ensemble Volcanic Ash, Mono Means One, Inner Ear Brigade, The Twenty Committee, Woodenhead, and Corima, with EDENSONG closing out the festivities on Sunday night.
The band’s James Schoen writes, “EDENSONG is incredibly excited to be making our third trip to ProgDay! It’s just a legendary festival, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more eclectic ‘prog’ lineup anywhere else. Each of our performances has been with a different incarnation of EDENSONG and has marked a very different chapter in the band’s evolution. It’s exciting to get a chance to showcase new material from Our Road to Dust and breathe new life into some classic songs as a quartet. “’Rescue Me’ was the first song we wrote in person after being penpals for four years,” explains guitarist Myrone. “For me it was this crazy feeling of anticipation as we had been working so hard to get into the same room and we finally did it, almost like a “dog catches car” moment. After we finished setting up Chris looked at me and was like “well what do you got?” and that opening riff is the first thing that fell out of me.”
The music video, directed/edited by Drew Kaufman with puppet design by Natalie Lewis, needs to be viewed to appreciate and follows previous clips – the also clever and entertaining “Wake Up” (also directed by Drew Kaufman) and the lyric video for “Again” a song which is currently enjoying quite a bit of radio airplay at commercial/active rock radio.
All three songs are taken from the full-length album Lucky which was produced by the recognized producer Machine (Clutch, King Crimson, Crobot). The album has been made available as a jewelcase CD and limited-edition (300) amber wave colored vinyl.

Guitarist Myrone explains how the album came together: “When Chris, Girish, and I got connected in 2019 I said my number one goal in life was to get us all in the same room to jam. Four years later not only did we get in the same room, we went to Machine’s barn in Texas for a month to create 10 piping hot metal jams for the whole world to enjoy. I had written around 150 song ideas before stepping in the studio, and we ended up using none of them. What you hear on the record was entirely written and recorded in Texas.”
With Adler’s iconic drumming, Myrone’s signature guitar work, and Pradhan’s dynamic, powerhouse vocals, FIRSTBORNE are a force to be reckoned with in the hard rock and metal scene; delivering high-energy anthems that bridge the gap between old-school metal and modern intensity.

The EP was produced by Jorge Olloqui, founding guitarist and key songwriter of the band, and recorded at Studio Rock 81 in Noain-Pamplona and Sureau Studio in Matadepera. In January 2022, the original tracks were remixed and remastered by Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse) at Mass Destruction Production in Sweden, giving Fuerza Interior a contemporary edge without losing the heart of the original.
