VALDUR – Long-Running Alpine Black/Death Conjurors Confirm Details Of Imminent New Full-Length

Valdur - At War With - promo cover pic - 2013

Alpine Black/Death conjurors, VALDUR, have confirmed preliminary details of their impending new full-length. Dubbed At War With, the follow-up to the band’s 2010-released Raven Gods Among Us, was recorded at Earhammer Studio with Greg Wilkinson at the helm and is currently being mastered by Michael Z. (Secrets of the Moon, Ascension) at Source Studios and boasts ten psalms of sonic repugnance.

States drummer Matthew bluntly, “I’m not very comfortable trying to put VALDUR’s music into words, but I think that what is important is that we have the luxury of doing what we want, when we want… and in the end, it will be our music and artwork that will do all the talking.”

Feel the infernal enormity of a rough version of the title track at THIS LOCATION.

Crowned “the best black metal band in the United States that you’ve probably never heard of,” by About.com and featuring past and current members of Weverin, Endless Blizzard and Plutocracy, VALDUR was forged at the turn of the century in a small mountain town located in the pulsating heart of the Sierra Mountain Range near the Nevada border. It is where desert (Death Valley) meets mountain (Mt. Whitney) and where the unholy trio celebrate the freedom and space to dwell without interference of fashionable “scenes” or “rulebooks.”

At War With will rise on December 17, 2013 via BloodyMountain Records. Additional details to be unveiled in due time.

VALDUR Personnel:

Matthew – Drums

William – Bass

Samuel – Guitar/Vocals

TIDAL ARMS – Flood The Airwaves With “Molasses;” Song Proceeds To Aid In The Restoration Of Hurricane Sandy-Ravaged Translator Audio And The South Sound Rehearsal Studio

Posted in Hard Rock, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on November 14, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Tidal Arms - band promo pic - 2013 - #339

Brooklyn drone-strewn noise rock threesome, TIDAL ARMS, hurl forth another canticle from their forthcoming new self-titled full-length. Titled “Molasses,” the tune — based on the Great Molasses Flood, a real event where a massive tidal wave of molasses destroyed a large area of Boston’s North End in 1919 — is currently monopolizing the airwaves courtesy of Vice/Noisey. All proceeds raised from the sale of the song will be used to help restore Brooklyn’s Translator Audio and The South Sound rehearsal studios, which were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy last year.

Relays guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney, “Andrew Schneider from Translator Audio has made some of our favorite records, recorded our first 7″ and mixed [TIDAL ARMS debut] The Sun Exploding, and shares our love for the bizarre story of the Molasses Flood. His studio, Translator Audio and The South Sound rehearsal studios, were tragically destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. They’re starting over, and we’re releasing ‘Molasses’ as a fundraiser for the rebuild. Proceeds from the sale of the song go to Translator Audio and The South Sound.”

Describes Noisey of the track, “‘Molasses’ is like a five course meal of musical genres. At first, the song starts off with an ambient spacey vibe before shifting gears into droney, stoner rock. Then all of a sudden, by the fourth minute, we are knee-deep in doomy sludge metal. Subtle changes maybe, but enough to make it feel less like a song and more like a journey through the Lands of Heavy-Ass Rock.”

Sink into “Molasses” at THIS LOCATION.

Fans wishing to purchase the track and make a contribution to the restoration efforts should point their browsers HERE.

Tidal Arms - ST promo cover pic - 2013

Self-produced and mixed by Tierney and Alex Mead-Fox at the band’s own Spaceman Sound in Greenpoint, and mastered by renowned sound serpent Alan Douches (Converge, Torche, The Dillinger Escape Plan etc.) at West West Side Music, the fiery ten-track Tidal Arms expands upon the band’s gristly, heterogeneous soundspace. Discordant yet catchy and doused in angular riff cascades, celestial interludes and the penetrating vocal rants of Tierney, TIDAL ARMS integrate various elements of post-hardcore, noise rock and doom into their heaviest, most ethereal creation yet.

Adventurous souls can still sample the sounds of “Mirrorbox,” currently playing at Revolver at THIS LOCATION as well as “Gooski’s Ladder,” courtesy of MetalSucks HERE.

TIDAL ARMS will bring their serenades to the stage later this month with a special record release performance at The Acheron as well as a stint at Glassland Gallery in December. Additional live abrasions will be announced in the weeks to come.

TIDAL ARMS Live:

11/22/2013 The Acheron – Brooklyn, NY *Record Release Show* w/ Tiger Flowers, Sleep Bellum Sonno, Cavallo, Mount Gomery
12/10/2013 Glasslands Gallery – Brooklyn, NY w/ Muscle Worship

TIDAL ARMS will unleash a vinyl edition of the record via Black Numbers on the new date ofNovember 26th, 2013. Preorders are currently available at THIS LOCATION. Additionally, fans can preorder a digital version of Tidal Arms at the band’s official BandCamp page HERE where they will receive free downloads of “Gooski’s Ladder” and “Mirrorbox” immediately.

KAYSER – Swedish Metal Band Signs With Listenable Records

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal with tags , , , , , , on November 9, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Kayser - promo band pic - 2013 - #105

Swedish Thrash purists KAYSER have just signed a long-term deal with Listenable Records. KAYSER has just completed work on their Listenable debut, entitled Read Your Enemy. The album is set for release in early 2014. The band is currently working with Sinemax Productions on a video for as-of-yet-unnamed track. More details to come.

KAYSER saw the first ray of light in early June 2004 when Spice (ex Spiritual Beggars), Mattias Svensson (also The Defaced), Bob Ruben (ex The Mushroom River Band) and Fredrik Finnander decided to join forces to create a pure Metal band. The band’s sound is fully immersed in true original Heavy/Thrash Metal genre with emphasis on the muscular songwriting : hammering blistering and catchy riffs one after another, delivering the goods through scorching witty arrangements with fluid virtuosity. Focus always lies on the song, easily identifiable through the supreme vocals by Spice, though the emotional and musical expressions stretch from heavy introvert pounding to pure hate driven ferocity.

“No boundaries and no limits… and that goes for everything,” the members stated initially to set the aim straight. As for comparisons, it might be best described as a mutation of Black Sabbath/Megadeth/Slayer with dips from different good bowls of Classic and Modern Metal. Popular for their incendiary shows, KAYSER enforces the pillars of metal with absolute authority. KAYSER became a much talked about live act among the Metal fans, rampaging cities across Europe with bands like VOLBEAT and more.

Samothrace - Reverence To Stone - cover promo!

The acclaimed Reverence To Stone was released in July of 2012 via 20 Buck Spin, the label responsible for unveiling the band to the masses on the masterful 2008 debut SAMOTHRACE album, Life’s Trade. Through two lumbering, expansive tracks, the band explores more cavernous realms of thunderous tone hand-in-hand with even more beautiful and organic elements than ever on Reverence To Stone, all culminating in an incredibly real-sounding, psychedelic doom metal that continues to prove SAMOTHRACE as one of the top bands of the genre.

Since the LP’s triumphant release, the band has trekked across the US regionally several times and also ventured across all of Europe on their debut tour of the continent, and as they continue to book more dates this Autumn, continue their most intense touring cycle in the band’s entire lineage.

Introducing The OBSCENE EXTREME WORLD TOUR For 2014!

Posted in Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on November 7, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Obscene Extreme World Tour 2014 - promo pic

Since the birth of Obscene Extreme back in 1999 exactly 643 (next year will exceed the ‘magic’ number of 666) bands will have played the Obscene Extreme festival. These bands have come from almost every corner of the globe and have attracted hordes of diehard extreme music fans from all over Europe and well beyond its home base in the Czech Republic.

What brings the fans to Obscene Extreme is more than the wide selection of underground grindcore, crust, punk, death, thrash, hardcore and almost every underground style in between, but also the incredible atmosphere, the DIY ethic and the true spirit of community. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or who you are, everyone is the same when you’re in the pit!

“For almost 15 years people have traveled the globe, driven across continents and slept in airports and railway stations to make it to Obscene Extreme, and now Obscene Extreme is making the same effort to come to you once again!!!” states OEF organiser Curby.

“After a really insane OEF World Tour in 2013 with festivals in Mexico, Indonesia and Australia we can say, we will never give up and we are back to do it once again in 2014!!! With the OEF Club World Tour 2014 we are rolling into Japan, Australia and the USA like the United Nations of Grind.”

Check more info on OEF websites and see you soon!!!

Obscene Extreme - Crowd - promo pic - 2013

5 Reasons The Obscene Extreme World Tour Is Going To Blow Your Mind!

1. Truly underground – Obscene Extreme is one of the few truly underground festivals to unite big, genre-defining bands, and small, cult bands.

2. Vegan-friendly – Whatever you do or don’t do, believe or practice, you’re welcome at Obscene Extreme.

3. Fair ticket price. No massive booking agent or energy drink mega-festival bullshit. Obscene Extreme is affordable for everyone.

4. No shitty rules, no shitty security – Stage diving, stage invasions and more, all welcome. Obscene Extreme treats you like people and doesn’t stop you having fun.

5. Grindcore carnival – Wear a gas mask, dress as a goregrind banana. Obscene Extreme is more than a festival – it’s a party!

Welcome to the Obscene Extreme family!!!

CHICAGO, IL (DLSP) – BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING, the newly launched electro-metal studio project from producer Dietrich Thrall (MARAZENE), will release the bands debut single, “THE CRAZIES”, on November 5, 2013.

Two years in the making, “THE CRAZIES” (The Zombie Song) marks the first new material released by DieTrich since MARAZENE’s 2011’s critically hailed cover of MOTLEY CRUE’s “LIVE WIRE” and subsequent final single “WELCOME TO YOUR HOLIDAY.”

After spending the majority of 2012 locked away in his personal studio writing, arranging, and programming 40+ songs, DieTrich emerged for several minutes to announce his new project only to dive back into a 15 hour marathon studio session with drummer CHRIS EMERY of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE. Provo has also been the engineering force behind the project. Said Provo: “BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING is one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on lately. DieTrich is insanely precise in the studio and has a great vision for where his songs need to be and the DIY ability and attitude to get it done right. DieTrich has also brought in some amazing studio musicians to help round out a unique and catchy collection of gritty and electronic based tunes. I can’t wait to get these songs out for the world to hear!”

BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING are currently editing multiple full production videos for “THE CRAZIES” (The Zombie Song) as well as two other tracks, “REVEILLE” and “JULIET” that the band plans to drop in the coming weeks. Release dates for the songs and the videos are forthcoming.

ABSU – Trve Brewing Company Announces Collaboration With Band To Release Four Different Beers

Posted in beer, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , on October 24, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Trve Brewing - Eastern Candle - Absu - 2013 - promo

Denver, Colorado’s Trve Brewing Company is proud to announce details on their upcoming first out of four ales titled Eastern Candle, dedicated to the mythological occult metal act ABSU. In honor of their 20th anniversary second album, The Sun Of Tiphareth, Trve has created the first out of four ales: Eastern Candle – a pale wheat beer fermented with brettanomyces in white wine barrels. The ale is a fine equilibrium of wheat and white wine with a slight, fruit-like yeast character. (Fittingly named after the song Never Blow Out The Eastern Candle).

The three forthcoming beers to be unleashed are the following:

Tiphareth – Red Ale: This will be a soured beer with a mild strain of brettanomyces fermented in red wine barrels. This fusion will have a nice malty, tart, yet dry balance including red wine adding a background complexity.

Manannán – Brown Ale: The Manannán batch will feature rye in the grain bill, as it will be soured and fermented with a shrouded strain of brettanomyces in whiskey barrels. This will be a more assertive brew with malt character and plenty of obscurity from the yeast while also showcasing the barrel flavors.

Winter Zephyr – Black Ale: A dark wheat and dark rye concoction giving the beer its cryptic color. This ale will highlight a fair amount of oats to retain vast body after the brettanomyces have alchemically fermented in wine barrels.

ABSU recently announced details of their upcoming North American Connexus Continuation Tour, the trek to showcase the band performing set with music spanning throughout their twenty-two year recording career. This excursion is a follow-up mini-tour by the Texas-based mythological occult metal trio since the release of Abzu – the second of a planned trilogy of recordings.

As reported on the Tony Harnell Facebook page:

After much discussion and lots of soul searching I’m happy to officially announce that I’ll be back behind the microphone with TNT. I’m very proud of all we accomplished over the years and proud to have written and recorded all those great songs with my brother from another mother, Ronni Le Tekro. Sometimes it’s just time to give the fans what they’re asking for. 2014 is the 25th anniversary of the successful Intuition album and we thought it would be a good time to get out and re-launch this little machine for you guys! Can’t wait to see you all on tour! TH
