Formed in 2016 as a non-profit organization, they are dedicated to raising funds and donating 100% of proceeds to local charities Girls Rock Camp, Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter, and Earth Protectors plus they sponsor an independent band picked by Metalocalypstick Fest judges.
The festival was founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.
“This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can’t we celebrate that?” says Kinney.

Slovenia’s legendary NOCTIFERIA are just confirmed for this year’s Metal Days 2019, going onstage on Tuesday 23rd July! With these underground legends, ALPHA OMEGA Management will bring to the festival in all 11 bands from its roster, which are in alphabetical order: ALTAIR, ANIMAE SILENTES, ATREXIAL, FALLEN ARISE, HYDRA, KAIROS, NOCTIFERIA, NOX VORAGO, SISKA, UNHUMAN INSURRECTION and W.E.B.!
Metal Days 2019 organizer stated:
“This is the last Artist Announcement for 2019, and all we can say is; be ready for the best Summer Metal Party!”
One of the very first Italian heavy metal bands returns with its first full-length album in eight years, Metal Shock! Trailblazing and traditional metal ensemble TIR will release Metal Shock May 10th on Gates of Hell Records. The album’s first single is streaming below.
Metal Shock is the band’s second full-length in a career that dates back to 1980. Metal Shock is an album that challenges the old-school metal status quo by having lyrics sung entirely in Italian.
Recorded at Trick Studio in Rome in late 2018/early 2019, Metal Shock is sung entirely in Italian, giving TIR yet another angle in a career that has been marked by going against the grain. Several of the songs found on Metal Shock date all the way back to the band’s halcyon ’80s period and were subsequently re-written and tinkered with until the members of TIR were satisfied. This type of meticulous detail shines throughout the album, where TIR’s penchant for knifing twin guitar melodies, hefty gallops and the multi-faceted vocal capabilities of Cialone are pure touchstones of metal’s undisputed glory era.
Traditional metal fans will instantly heed the call of TIR’s melody-dominated style and taut songwriting approach. Metal Shock marks a new beginning for a band, who, even as they are approaching the four-decade mark, are playing some of their most inspired material to date. TIR shows with Metal Shock that there is nothing stronger than conviction.
A year away from their 40th anniversary, Italian traditional metal outfit TIR remains one of the best-kept secrets in the underground. Formed in 1980 by the guitar tandem of Sergio Bonelli and Danilo Antonini, TIR opted for the path of most resistance: Instead of releasing studio albums and seeking major label assistance, they preferred to perform live shows. Their performances soon became can’t-miss events in Rome. Aided by fire, pyrotechnics and even live snakes, TIR’s reputation spread like wildfire (no pun intended) in their home city, catapulting their lone release of the decade, 1984’s self-titled demo, into the frenzied world of underground tape trading. However, while the metal scene waited for TIR to record a proper full-length album, the band stuck to their guns and simply kept playing live.
TIR would split in 1986, only to reform two years later. It wasn’t until 2011 that the band saw fit to release an album of original material, the appropriately titled Heavy Metal. Eight years later, TIR (who, in addition to Bonelli and Antonini, comprise long-time bassist Dino Gubinelli, vocalist Giuseppe Cialone and drummer Piero Arioni) return with Metal Shock, their first release for Gates of Hell Records.
NORSEMEN have joined forces with Time To Kill Records for the release of their debut album “Bloodlust”.
Emerging out of the Northern Italian scene in 2017, NORSEMEN is a death metal band fascinated by Norse Vikings and Norse-Gael culture. Full of grandeur and aggression, the band’s music depicts the ancient Viking world through a brutal and violent soundscape bearing comparisons with Unleashed, Immortal and Amon Amarth.
NORSEMEN build layers of brooding sounds which sometimes unfurl at a glacial pace and other times lurch with rhythmic propulsion, each piece distinct, densely packed, and all-consuming in their evocative atmospheres.
“Bloodlust” will be released on 26th April 2019 via Italy’s Time To Kill Records.

About ANGELES:
Dale Lytle and Dave Raudman united the musicians that would form the band known as Angeles. Their first Hollywood gig was at the Troubadour where they were setting attendance records playing the midnight slot on Sunday nights. They also played at The Whiskey and The Roxy on the Sunset strip in Hollywood California and they became one of L.A.’s largest Indie bands of the 80’s. They performed at Devonshire Downs outdoor stadium to over 6,000 people twice and also played In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida with Ron Bushy from Iron Butterfly.
In 1984, Angeles performed at the Reseda Country Club, appearing with Bon Jovi. They have also shared a stage with Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ratt, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Ronnie James Dio, Jefferson Starship, Robbie Krieger of the Doors, Jack Russell’s “Great White”, The Tubes, Foghat, Y&T, Michael Schenker and Dokken just to name a few of the legends of Rock N Roll. Signed to Mystic records, Angeles recorded their debut album “We’re No Angels”. In 1984. They were featured in the1985 September issue of Hit Parader magazine. A number of Angeles’ songs, including “Nasty Girls”, “You Want Me To Love You”, and “Can’t Find the Words” has been played on nationwide radio stations.
In 1999, their album “No Limits” was featured on 95.5 KLOS Local Licks Sunday night program. Angeles was honored to not only be featured on the program four times, but they were also the only band to ever have six songs played on a Double Local Licks feature in a single program. During one week in 1999, “Can’t Find the Words” was played 527 times. The song continued to play nationwide on radio stations. Angeles has released 12 albums (CDs) to date with “Time of Truth’ being released in October, 2018 on Bongo Boy Records.
New Zealand death metal trio ULCERATE have joined the Debemur Morti Productions roster.
Issues the band of the new union: “We are extremely happy to be moving head-first into this next chapter with a partnership that aligns so clearly with our own vision. Debemur Morti has always been in our peripheral gaze – the attention to detail and high level of curation is second-to-none.”
Death metal has always had roots in themes of humanity, darkness, and oppression, but when ULCERATE formed in Auckland, New Zealand in 2000, their unconventional approach to the genre quickly redefined the meaning of those concepts throughout death metal and beyond. The trio’s distinctive treatment of dynamics alongside in-depth lyrical content established the band as a formidable force long before they became the standard-bearers for a new era of death metal, one defined by meticulous passages of understated melodic sensibilities and jarring, tooth-scraping dissonance.
The band’s inexorable march from 2007’s Of Fracture And Failure (2007) to the unparalleled Shrines Of Paralysis (2016) has been terrifying. And it appears the best is yet to come.
Further details on the band’s as-yet-untitled new full-length will be released in the months to come. In the meantime, don’t miss ULCERATE on their upcoming European tour set to commence April 10th and run through April 21st. The trek includes an appearance on this year’s edition of Roadburn. See all confirmed dates below.

Bay area death trio ULTHAR will kick off a brutalizing North American tour today in Oakland, California. The trek will make its way through nearly three-dozen cities, coming to a close May 24th in Santa Fe, New Mexico. See all confirmed dates below and view the tour trailer HERE.
Featuring within its ranks Shelby Lermo (Vastum, Extremity), Justin Ennis (Void Omnia, ex-Mutilation Rites, ex-Tombs), and Steve Peacock (Mastery, Pandiscordian Necrogenesis, Pale Chalice), ULTHAR is touring in support of their Cosmovore debut LP, released late last year via 20 Buck Spin. Cosmovore was engineered, recorded, and mixed by Greg Wilkinson (Brainoil, Deathgrave) at Earhammer Studios, mastered by Justin Weis at Trackworx, and unleashes the feral urgency of dizzying, Absu-like black metal with the bludgeoning ferocity of classic death metal. Thematically heavy on weird, supernatural horror and a bizarre Rudimentary Peni surrealism, ULTHAR is a difficult to classify spectral entity.

I remember buying No Prayer For The Dyingback in 1990. I thought it was so cool that this (now classic) album was releasing in October, the season of Halloween. This album now forever reminds me of Haloween too. Can you dig it? I bought the cassette version first and upgraded to CD some years later.
I still have the same CD (with the original cover art and not the bogus edited version) and just recently sold the cassette. Amazing I had the same cassette all these decades. Unreal. As for the album’s songs, I have my favorites: Tailgunner, Holy Smoke, No Prayer For The Dying, Hooks In You and Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter. “Holy Smoke… Smells Good”… I love that stuff.
I believe this IRON MAIDEN album doesn’t get the full credit it so deserves. In my Metal opinion, when I look at the Bruce Dickinson era of IRON MAIDEN, this album kicks more Metal ass than SeventhSon Of A Seventh Son and The Final Frontier. Sure, Adrian Smith left the band and Janick Gers came on board with the production of this album; does it really freaking matter after all these years? Both guitarists are living legends, to this Metal maniac. What’s fabulous about this album is the songs are very much written like those of their 80’s classics; with no eleven minute over progressive baloney.
Bruce Dickinson sounds so superb on this album, per usual. Bruce truly shows his range on Public Enema Number One; just another memorable song on this album for me. I honestly listened to the cassette version of this album in my car, so many times, it’s nothing short of amazing. Without a trace of doubt, I have never grown tired of No Prayer For The Dying. This release is a MUST for any new IRON MAIDEN fans out there and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The only reason this album didn’t get it’s just due is for the year of its release. I believe if this album was released in 1987 or 1988 it would be regarded as highly as Somewhere In Time. Just saying. Metal be thy name. – Stone
Martin “The Bishop” Birch produced, engineered and mixed No Prayer For The Dying. This album was released via Epic. The iconic artist Derek Riggs created the incredible album cover.
IRON MAIDEN:Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), Janick Gers (guitar), Steve Harris (bass) and Nicko McBrain on drums.

Our goal is, was, and will always be to write increasingly superior, more honest and compelling songs, and to develop a more unique and challenging sound. I’m sure we have just finished our best, most adventurous album to date. We dug incredibly deep, challenged ourselves and recorded a record I’m positive we could never again replicate. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to know Sebastian, Nick and Gina as both my bandmates and my friends. They have pushed me to become a better songwriter, musician and vocalist. We’re all extremely excited for this release, which includes quite a few “firsts” for the band, and we’re thrilled to be back on tour to play these psychotic songs for our fans. Expect some surprises.
“The Scabby Ghouls” blends party-loving punk and the macabre seamlessly for a truly fun and unique experience. Described by fans as “Scooby-Doo Punk” or “Haunted House Punk”, this band celebrates all things creepy, spooky and bizarre year-round. Whether harkening back to the Elizabeth Short murder in the ‘50s, venting in frustration at the inability to drive, or punning on everyone’s favorite Elm Street murderer, the lyrics are as gruesome as they are cheerful when delivered by the Hazards, who also handle guitar work adeptly. This album showcases the band’s ability to blend various punk sub-genres with their own unique sound for an altogether novel experience.
To celebrate the release, The Scabby Ghouls will be playing alongside other local punk and hardcore bands including Stronghold, Hand-Painted Police Car, and Dummy Head Torpedo at the Lookout Lounge on Friday March 15th 2019 at 8 P.M. (Doors at 7 P.M.). $7.00 cover, all-ages show.
The Scabby Ghouls are: Denise Hazard – Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Louie Hazard – Lead Guitar, Backup Vocals Alex Steffens – Bass Guitar Nathan Christensen – Drums

Ljubljana’s underground legends NOCTIFERIA, since the beginning (1997) have been spreading their unique style of the Slovenian Extreme Metal Movement. Few could predict what the band and its members would mean for the whole scene in the years to come. Today, just as it sometimes seems that the artists have drained all genres of originality and that all the new musical styles have already been discovered, here comes NOCTIFERIA, bringing something fresh, a style that is uniquely theirs.
