WARBEAST – Texas Thrash Behemoths Prepare For Live Takeovers; Band Welcomes Two New Recruits

Texas Thrash behemoths, WARBEAST, are readying for a long-anticipated live takeover with a slew of one-off shows through their homestate and beyond throughout the Spring and Summer months. The festivities commence this Friday in San Antonio at Fitzgerald’s. The following evening, the band will bring their sonic devastation to Welcome To Hell Fest 2015 in Houston alongside Deadhorse, Poor Dumb Bastards and more.

Additional WARBEAST live incursions include an appearance at the Ft. Worth Metal Fest in Ft. Worth on Memorial Day weekend, with Eyehategod and Goatwhore, One Fest 2015 in Dallas, with Mobile Deathcamp and Devourment and Full Terror Assault Open Air Fest in Cave-In-Rock, with Fear Factory, Eyehategod and M.O.D with future onstage infiltrations being deliberated.

The latest bout of live mayhem finds WARBEAST with an updated lineup featuring newest recruits, second guitarist Drew Shoup and bassist Lyric Ferchaud (stepson of vocalist Bruce Corbitt), two young, thirsty Lonestar thrash heads and longtime WARBEAST devotees. Comments Corbitt, “We are back with a new lineup and we’re ready to hit the stage again doing what we do best, that is to kick some ass Texas thrash style! WARBEAST was originally forged in the Fall of 2006 under the name Texas Metal Alliance. In April of 2009 the band officially changed their name to WARBEAST and united with Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Records. WARBEAST‘s roots are firmly entrenched in the legendary ’80s Texas underground metal scene. Vocalist Bruce Corbitt was the voice of speed metal splatter kings Rigor Mortis, who achieved major label success on Capitol Records in 1988. Guitarist Scott Shelby was part of the riff machine behind Gammacide, one of Texas’ most furious thrash exports while drummer Joey Gonzalez now also provides blastbeats and mayhem for Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals.

WARBEAST‘s live shows prove equally impressive having already massacred crowds alongside the likes of Down, Crowbar, Eyehategod, Arson Anthem, Philip H. TORMENTOR – Sign With Static Tension Recordings; New Album Due Out In July

Static Tensions Recordings is pleased to announce its latest signing, California thrashers TORMENTER. The label will be releasing the band’s previously self-released album Prophetic Deceiver, which received rave reviews upon release. The album is set to be released on July 24 2015. The band is recommended if you like Exodus, Warbringer and Destruction.

Sisters of… is a genre-defying project from St. Joseph, Missouri. Tired of musical limitations, Coker’s idea of blending heavy and atmospheric sounds was realized in a track that evolved into the cornerstone of Sisters of…’s first EP, Follow Me as a Ghost. UNBREAKABLE HATRED – Canadian Death Metal Trio Joins Unique Leader Records For Multi-Album Deal

Quebec City-based death metal trio, UNBREAKABLE HATRED, recently joined the expanding roster of extreme metal powerhouse, Unique Leader Records.

Forged in 2008 by guitarist Philippe Drouin, his drummer brother Dominic and vocalist/bassist Simon B. Lapointe, UNBREAKABLE HATRED spews forth a mutinous amalgam of old school death metal brutality, modern technical wizardry and blistering groove making for relentlessly visceral sound expedition. The band released their debut full-length, Total Chaos, in 2011 via Galy/Lacerated Enemy Records. Largely underrated but no less scalding, Sea Of Tranquility noted, “UNBREAKABLE HATRED… play a brand of technical death metal and grindcore that is as brutal as it is catchy,” further crowning it, “an all-around solid affair that shows plenty of promise.”

LEGENDARY METAL CHURCH SINGER MIKE HOWE RETURNS TO THE BAND!

Legendary front-man Mike Howe returns to Metal Church! In the summer of 2014 the band suddenly found themselves in need of a new singer. As fate would have it, Kurdt was already in talks with Mike for another project that he was working on with Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler, so he decided to ask Mike to rejoin Metal Church. Mike agreed, but true to form, didn’t want to make it official until he knew for sure that the integrity of the new material was there.

In Mike’s own words: ” I didn’t want to come back to Metal Church just for nostalgia, it had to be for the right reasons, it had to be the best stuff we’ve ever written together or it just wouldn’t be worth it to anyone, especially the fans.” Soon after, Kurdt and Mike began exchanging ideas and writing new material with the band. The end result sounds like “Classic Mike Howe era Metal Church, it’s both heavy and melodic” says guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof and further states “Mike sounds the same as he did 20 years ago, this is going to be truly epic!!” Drummer Jeff Plate comments, “Mike Howe is the ONLY singer for Metal Church. He has a reputation of complete honor and respect. We can now take Metal Church to the next level!”

Mike Howe originally joined Metal Church in the late 80’s and released 3 albums with the band: “The Human Factor”, “Blessing In Disguise” and “Hanging in the Balance”. Mike was also the face of popular music videos “Date With Poverty” and “Badlands” that aired during MTV’s heyday.

MONSTERWORKS – Tracking New Album At Rockfield Studios In Wales

Hot off the heels of the recently released The Existential Codex, London’s MONSTERWORKS hit the studio this week to record the follow-up. The band is tracking at Rockfield Studios in Wales. Guitarist/vocalist Jon offered this studio update:

“Here we are in Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire. This is exciting for the band and me personally because some of the greatest acts in rock and metal have recorded here, like my all-time favourite album, Judas Priest’s Sad Wings of Destiny; not to mention Queen (various parts off Sheer Heart Attack and A Night at the Opera) and Black Sabbath with Dio (including swan song The Devil You Know). More recently Opeth recorded Pale Communion here which is hailed as a sonic masterpiece ….and although we can’t quite afford their full production team, we’ll do our best to come up with a dynamic album that sounds amazing by channelling some of the Rockfield magic!

It is day three and all drums, bass and half the rhythm guitars are down. Vocals will be later today and tomorrow…where I will stand in the same room as Halford when he belted out ‘The Ripper’ nearly 40 years ago. Thanks to our engineer Tim Lewis for a really smooth ride so far.”

The Existential Codex was released February 27th, on Eat Lead & Die Music. The six-track digital version is available as a free download . The 73-minute CD comes with bonus tracks, as well as Blu-Ray of 5.1 Surround and HD stereo mixes on the UK group’s Bandcamp page.

On This Day In METAL History – April 26th… From MACHINE HEAD To HALESTORM

On April 26th, 1986 – Van Halen reached #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart for the first time with their seventh studio album: 5150. This was Van Halen’s (or Van Hagar, if you like) first album with the dynamic Sammy Hagar as their vocalist. 5150 spent three weeks on top of this chart. By the way, this 5150 album stirs up some really cool and good-times memories for me! Whoa.

On this day in 1986 – Metal legends Judas Priest peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with their tenth studio album: Turbo. This album went on to sell one million (plus) copies in the United States, alone. By the way, this is my least favorite Judas Priest album and yet I do “like” it. The song Parental Guidance is featured on Turbo and it is one of the lamest Judas Priest songs ever recorded, in my Metal opinion. The title track is just plain strange. Whatever.

On April 26th, 2015 – Pennsylvania’s very own Hard Rock ambassadors, HALESTORM, have their third studio album, Into The Wild Life, debuting at #5, on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. Congratulations, HALESTORM! Yeah!

On this day in 2015 – Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits makes a return to the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, ranked at #151. This fantastic compilation of Aerosmith hits was originally released back in 1980, spending 44 non-consecutive weeks on this chart and peaking at #43. Folks, this album has spanned 4 decades of being a hot seller! Did someone say, timeless Hard Rock? Whoa and holy Metal!!

On April 26th, 2015 – The eighth studio album, Bloodstone & Diamonds, from the mighty MACHINE HEAD, is ranked at #33, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. MACHINE HEAD kicks METAL ass like there’s no tomorrow, on this album, by the way. If you don’t own this MACHINE HEAD album, you are a closet Bay City Rollers fan. Whoa!

The album received thousands of plays on YouTube and spread like plague to those who craved extreme doom/death metal with a simultaneously melodic and violent edge. AUTHOR & PUNISHER – One-Man Industrial Doom Unit To Kick Off US Tour; Trek Includes Stop At Stump Fest + Psycho California

SIG:AR:TYR – To Release New Album

Canadian Blackened Heavy Metal act SIG:AR:TYR are proud to announce that they will be releasing their new album Northen this fall.

While SIG:AR:TYR has in the past been known as atmospheric blackened folk, Northen shifts into more traditional Metal territory, while maintaining the dark sounds of earlier material.

The band’s mastermind (and sole permanent member) Daemonskald had the following to say about the album:

“The album deals with the end of the Viking age, and the adventures of the Norse in our own country, Canada. Unlike the permanent settlements in Greenland, their stay here was short-lived, and we are still discovering the extent of their travels, the artifacts from their small settlements, and unfolding the tales of their interaction with the native cultures here at the time. “Northen” is a tale of tribute to this small group of adventurers, who with a dynamic, and individualistic spirit, were still willing to throw stability and comfort aside to explore mysterious new places like Helluland, Markland, and Vinland, and try to be their own master in a changing world.”
