Connecticut black metal unit DEATH VANISH will unleash the traumatic, four-song Cold Hammer Of Melancholy EP via Eternal Death next month.

The solo project of One Master guitarist/vocalist Valder, DEATH VANISH is unabashedly influenced by the primitive sounds of Beherit and Profanatica. Playing select live shows with a full lineup, the song writing and all instruments on the recorded material is performed solely by Valder. DEATH VANISH‘s Cold Hammer Of Melancholy EP follows last year’s split with Misanthropos and will be released on cassette via Eternal Death on November 16th.

In advance of its release, opening psalm “Solipsism And Antichrist” is currently streaming at the DEATH VANISH Bandcamp page.

Offers Valder of the track, “The opening track ‘Solipsism And Antichrist’ is primarily inspired by the mid-tempo, pummeling moments on Beherit’s Drawing Down The Moon, with the bass guitar playing a more prominent role than the songs on our earlier release.”

For Hammer Of Melancholy preorders and to hear “Solipsism And Antichrist,” go to THIS LOCATION.

Hammer Of Melancholy – Track Listing:

  1. Solipsism And Antichrist
  2. Cold Hammer Of Melancholy
  3. Saturnian Realms Return
  4. Bloodless Fog (Of My Mind)

“Death Vanish” refers to the instinct to isolate oneself – to “die” and “vanish” from the external world into one’s own. On both a micro level (i.e. leaving a particular social or life situation) and macro level (i.e. leaving the bounds of the material world), the ideology of this project is to understand and harness the power of this inward looking instinct.

Australia’s ROAD WARRIOR “Sweating Out the Poison” In New Lyric Video

Australian True Metal brigade ROAD WARRIOR have released a lyric video for “Sweating Out the Poison,” a track from forthcoming Gates of Hell Records debut album Power. Get to sweating at youtu.be/6pDDxuAcREQ

ROAD WARRIOR will release their debut full-length album, Power, on October 12 via Gates Of Hell Records. Featuring eight tracks of “diverse, fist-clenching, manly and classic metal,” Powerwas recorded at Against The Grain Studiosin Adelaide, South Australia with Andy Kite at the helm.

Pre-order Power on CD and Vinyl at: http://tinyurl.com/ycp8hjec

Stream “Don’t Fight Fate” below:

roadwarrior-metal.bandcamp.com/track/dont-fight-fate

Comments bassist/vocalist Denimal Blake: “It is a statement of our intent: To inject ‘Power’ back into a heavy metal scene that has been somewhat bereft of it. Whether if it truly is an objective case or not, that is our summary and the crux of the band. When heavy metal first gained a foothold it was the personification of musical power, a very special time that is finally coming back to strength, regardless of trends, due to its dominance.”

ROAD WARRIOR (who are rounded out by guitarist Overdryve and drummer Villon) are said to have recorded Power with “gusto, the gnashing teeth and thrusting of loins,” meaning, the album’s cuts are leaning heavily on the band’s ’80s influences as well as the proto-metal scene from the latter part of the ’70s. Says Blake: “Our influences are in a blender this time, laced with the flavor of ROAD WARRIOR, METAL CHURCHBLACKKOUT, early IRON MAIDENSAVATAGEJUDAS PRIESTLOUDNESSRIOTTWISTED SISTER and HEXX.”

Accordingly, Blake says the album’s lyrical themes are quite varied: “Sex, sex and more sex, along with a bit of historical conspiracy, power, pre-diluvial civilization and hotter sex.” Tongue-and-cheek aside, Blake and his ROAD WARRIOR bandmates remain steadfast in their conviction to true heavy metal.

“We have an acute awareness of the NWOTHM [NEW WAVE OF TRADITIONAL HEAVY METAL] and know that we stand out in many ways, whether it’s due to influence, locality or pedigree. Either way, I cannot speak for the ears of others, but we are supremely confident the album will live up to the album cover and title and help usher in a new age of classic rock and metal as the trends dissolve.”

An official video for album track “The Train 1702” is available at this location. The band released the following statement concerning the song:

“This song is based on the urban legend of the North of Russia. It is about the freight train number 1702, which travels through the deep forests of Northern Europe. According to legend, during the journey, the crew meets an alien object that first surrounds the train, and then picks up the train and moves it with a giant speed. The song describes what is happening and the emotional feeling of the crew, including visual and sound design tools (the average tempo of the composition, like the train, guitar parts emphasize what the song is about, there are original sounds of the train). Musically, the song is inspired by American groove metal and Scandinavian black metal.”

Band Bio:

Second To Sun is a metal band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, founded in 2012 by its guitarist Vladimir Lehtinen. Second To Sun concentrate on the musical and creative aspect more and use visual elements on every song (artwork, lyrics, behind the song infos etc.) to give more depth and back story to the music. The band’s music contains a blend of metal genres: on the one hand, it has the many rhythmic elements of groove metal; on the other hand, it continues the legacy of such classic Scandinavian black metal bands as Emperor, Mayhem, and Dakthrone.

Such diverse musical roots of the band protrude from Vladimir Lehtinen’s songwriting, Gleb Sysoev‘s soul-crushing vocals and Fedor Borovsky‘s groovy drum lines. The band releases two versions of each album – the vocal and the instrumental one. Each individual instrumental composition is accompanied by unique artwork and a hefty description of the story the composition tells, which provides a deeper insight into the music, as well as the band’s inspiration and creative process. Second To Sun has released two albums – The First Chapter and The Black, and is now getting ready to release their third album: The Walk.

German Metal Force HAMMER KING Are “At The Mercy Of The Waves” In New Video

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , , on October 6, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

Hammer King - Poseidon Will Carry Us Home - promo cover pic - 2018 - #33MO733ILMGD

German True Metal ensemble HAMMER KING have released a music video for At The Mercy of the Waves, a song from forthcoming album Poseidon Will Carry Us Home. Check it out at: youtu.be/HN1Zj2CdLLA or below:

HAMMER KING will release their third full-length, Poseidon Will Carry Us Home, on October 5 via Cruz Del Sur Music. Recorded at Studio Greywolf with POWERWOLF bassist Charles Greywolf at the helm, Poseidon Will Carry Us Home is an unabashed bow to classic, anthemic, hook-laden metal, proving HAMMER KING was more than up to the task of meeting the often-high expectations that come with a band’s third album.

The album will be available on CD, digital, and black (300 copies) and blue (200 copies) vinyl LP formats.

Pre-order Poseidon Will Carry Us Home: www.cruzdelsurmusic.com/store/

Variety abounds on Poseidon Will Carry Us Home, with HAMMER KING engaging in strident, call-to-arms jaunts like the opening title track and “Battle Of Wars”. Twin guitar harmonies and fierce gallops highlight “7 Days And 7 Kings” and “Where The Hammer Hangs”, while the true metal call is heeded on the mid-tempo “Warriors Of Angelhill” and “Glorious Nights Of Glory.” HAMMER KING‘s progression is best exemplified on album standout “We Sail Cape Horn,” an adventurous, sea-faring number that is equal nods to classic IRON MAIDEN and progressive rock.

An album stocked with future anthems at every corner, Poseidon Will Carry Us Home is representative of a band now hitting its creative stride – and fully realizing it.

GREYHAWK – To Release Debut EP: “Ride Out”

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , on October 5, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

CD400_out

Seattle-based classic heavy metal band GREYHAWK are gearing up for the release of their debut EP, Ride Out. Featuring six blazing tracks of trad metal in the vein of DIO, MANOWAR and BLIND GUARDIAN, GREYHAWK will self-release Ride Out on October 18th.

The EP’s first single, “The Abdication,” is streaming at this location and below:

Pre-order Ride Out at greyhawkmetal.bandcamp.com.

Ride Out was recorded, mixed and mastered by Cody J Brumlow at Hangar 12 Studios, Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Album artwork by Jesse White.

The story of GREYHAWK begins in late 2016, when Jesse Berlin, a neoclassical shredder from New York, and Darin Wall, a proud rock warrior from the northern wastelands of Canada, joined forces in Seattle, Washington. Together they scoured the city for fellow warriors who were true enough to join their cause. After over a year of searching, reinforcements finally arrived in the form of Enrico Mariuzzo, another rock and roll shred demon all the way from Italy, and the booming operatic voice of Revere Taylor, who while dazzling audiences at Seattle Opera also yearned for heavy metal glory. The four gathered on the regular, crafting songs and planning their attack, and then finally the last piece of the puzzle arrived from across the Cascade Mountains in the form of the powerhouse drummer Nate Butler.  After many hours of blood and sweat, GREYHAWK entered the studio, employing the expertise of audio wizard Cody J Brumlow to forge their debut EP, Ride Out.  Now they set out to bring their brand of heavy metal to the unsuspecting masses…

GREYHAWK:

Rev Taylor – Vocals

Jesse Berlin – Guitar

Enrico Mariuzzo – Guitar

Darin Wall – Bass Guitar

Nate Butler – Drums

METAL CHURCH “Damned If You Do” – Releases On December 7th, 2018, Via Rat Pak Records!

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , on October 4, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

From Rat Pak Records:

West coast metal veterans Metal Church will release their 12th full length studio album Damned If You Do via Rat Pak Records on December 7, 2018 and will also be available in Europe via Nuclear Blast and Japan via KING Records. The latest release is the follow-up to their highly successful 2016 album “XI”, which saw the return of legendary front-man Mike Howe. Damned If You Do is a cross between the band’s iconic Blessing In Disguise and The Human Factor. This new offering features ten fully-charged, classic-metal influenced songs that showcase the sound that has garnered the band a solid fanbase for over 3 decades.

Kurdt Vanderhoof comments: “I feel this album is a very powerful statement to what Metal Church has always been about. A tough and aggressive old school metal album while maintaining a level of musicality and melodic sensibilities”.

Damned If You Do also features new drummer Stet Howland (ex WASP / Lita Ford). Stet first arrived after the departure of long-time drummer Jeff Plate, but soon after joining the band was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Miraculously his treatments for the aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma worked and he was able to begin recording the new album.

Speaking of the new album Stet Howland comments, “From the minute we started tracking this new CD, I had the feeling that it was going to be something special. I knew that I was going to do my best to deliver a top drum performance, not only because of the high standard set by past Metal Church drummers, but also because this is my first CD release after being sick. I’m beyond happy with all aspects of this CD, great songs, great performances, great production, just an overall great CD! I love it!”

Metal Church - Damned If You Do - album flyer - 2018 - #1MO333ILG

Damned If You Do is something truly unique and special. The songs are powerful, precise, and Metal Church’s musical vision is unified. From the haunting opener “Damned If You Do” to the final hard-edged track “The War Electric,” this new album is sure to resonate with fans from the band’s early years while garnering new ones. Songs like “By The Numbers,” “Guillotine” and “The Black Things” are sure to become instant favorites!

Mike Howe comments: “I’m very excited about the new release. It all came together way better than I even imagined. It’s a great feeling to work really hard on a musical project pouring your heart into it and hoping it comes out as something you can be proud of in the end. I have been listening to it every day and loving it! I hope our fans do as well!”

Metal Church “Damned If You Do” is available in various formats and bundle configurations including a ltd Blue, Black & white vinyl pressing with an alternate track sequence also an Ultimate Fan Bundle that includes a personal “Thank-you” phone call from Mike Howe, exclusively available at: https://ratpakrecordsamerica.com/metal-church

Satan Cruel Magic - tour flyer - October 2018 - #33MO737ILGMS -

NWOBHM legends SATAN will kick off a short run of US live dates this week. The trek – which rolls from October 5th through October 14th – includes an appearance at the Frost And Fire IV festival in Ventura, California. See all confirmed dates below.

SATAN:
10/05/2018 Brick By Brick – San Diego, CA
10/06/2018 Frost And Fire IV – Ventura, CA
10/07/2018 Whiskey – Los Angeles, CA

10/12/2018 Saint Vitus – Brooklyn, NY
10/13/2018 Great Scott – Boston, MA
10/14/2018 Voltage Lounge – Philadelphia, PA

SATAN will be touring in support of their Cruel Magic full-length, recently issued via Metal Blade Records. Bearers of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, movement and responsible for 1983’s seminal Court In the Act and 1987’s Suspended Sentence, SATAN makes it abundantly clear with Cruel Magic that in 2018, they are not interested in simply capitalizing on past glories. Comprised of ten tracks of searing metal, it is blatantly and profoundly the work of the Newcastle upon Tyne natives at their very best, infusing their signature sound with a more raw, wild, and spontaneous vibe than they showcased on 2015’s mighty Atom By Atom – and in the process, displaying more passion and energy than slews of bands half their age.

To preview and purchase Cruel Magic, visit: metalblade.com/satan.

SATAN, some forty years on from their inception, has made an album that contains all your favorite elements in the traditional heavy metal style and offers them up in a way that will feel completely familiar to you, and yet take you down paths within this framework that you have not yet tread. And that, my friends, is its own (un)cruel magic.” – Metal Injection

MOS GENERATOR – Washington Heavy Rock Trio To Release Shadowlands Full-Length Via Listenable Records This May; Live Dates With Fu Manchu Confirmed

Mos Generator - Shadowlands - promo cover pic - 2018 - #33MO23ILMN332

Long-running Washington-based heavy rock trio MOS GENERATOR will release a new full-length this May via Listenable Records. Titled Shadowlands, the eight-track studio offering was recorded in three sessions — June 2017, November 2017, and January 2018 — at the HeavyHead Recording Company in Port Orchard, Washington and comes swathed in the cover art of Adam Burke [Pilgrim, Satan’s Satyrs, Hooded Menace, Artificial Brain et al].

“Right from the opening song, Shadowlands is a record that, to me, feels more honest than our previous releases,” relays founding guitarist/vocalist/principal songwriter Tony Reed. “On this record, I introduce many other styles that I enjoy but they are intertwined so subtly that it doesn’t interrupt the classic MOS GENERATOR sound. That is a balance I’ve been looking for over the last few albums and I think the presence of [drummer] Jon Garrett and [bassist] Sean Booth have a lot to do with achieving that balance. It’s a heavy rock record that breaths and if I had to describe it further I would say it mixes ’70s style heavy rock, progressive rock, and also has some weird ’80s and ’90s underground rock nuances.”

Shadowlands will see release via Listenable Records in Europe on May 11th followed by a US street date of May 18th with preorder info to be announced in the coming weeks.

Shadowlands – Track Listing:
1. Shadowlands
2. The Destroyer
3. Drowning In Your Loving Cup

MOS GENERATOR formed during the Winter of 2000 in Port Orchard, Washington from the ashes of a decade-long on-again-off-again collaboration between its three members, all of which are long time veterans of the road and studio. The need to strip down to the basics of hard rock was apparent from the start and continues to be the foundation for the band’s recent material.

MOS GENERATOR has released seven studio albums, a retrospective album, a live album, and a plethora of split releases. 2015 brought in a new rhythm section and touring possibilities far beyond the limitations of the original lineup. This new lineup has changed the band into a relentless touring machine, delivering critically acclaimed performances both states and abroad. “They are so good,” gushed Maximum Volume Music, “you end up wanting to round-up a couple of mates, buy a Transit, form a three-piece rock ‘n’ roll band and go on tour.”

MOS GENERATOR:

Sean Booth – bass
Jon Garrett – drums

North Carolina based Death Metal unit KROSIS is the latest addition to the Unique Leader Records roster. The band will release their forthcoming full-length in 2018.

Issues the band in a collective statement, “We are inexplicably humbled and thankful to be part of a family that some of our favorite bands have been a part of. To have Unique Leader Records see our project as something as worthwhile, original, and significant as we do means more than we can put into words. It is an understatement to say that we are looking forward to our next step as KROSIS,with Unique Leader Records at our sails.”

KROSIS was formed in Raleigh in 2014. A group of talented musicians and friends saw an unsatisfactory pattern starting within modern Metal music. The diverse collaboration of influences that make up the framework of KROSIS is why they put out the music that they do. Too much of modern Death Metal and Deathcore is limited to a paradigm; KROSIS seeks to eliminate boundaries. With backgrounds of rock, jazz, concert bands, and music theory, they pull no proverbial punches in terms of diversity, originality, and heaviness. They bring together many parts of a musical spectrum and emerge with an eclectic sound that proves appealing to lovers of heavy, themed music.

“We are all about creating new trends, fresh ideas, and even entirely unique genres,” the band notes. “Most of all, we’re proud to present every track, knowing that we gave our listeners and fans our absolute best. For some, living the dream is being in front of thousands, with lights and cameras aimed at them. For us, it’s each simple step along the way, each note and each beat, pouring our mind and soul into every creation, so that you can be a part of the experience with us.”

Stand by for further info on KROSIS in the weeks to come.

Here Come The Mummies - Mother Feather - promo concert flyer - 2016 - #MO99ILMF33

On September 24th, New York City’s self-described “pop cock rock” unit MOTHER FEATHER will join Here Come The Mummies for a special show at the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan. This will be the band’s first performance since their extensive US trek on the annual Vans Warped Tour, with more dates to be announced soon. For event and ticket information, please visit THIS LOCATION.

MOTHER FEATHER recently released their self-titled full-length, which includes ten tracks that marry the scratchy yet catchy, swaggering, and dangerous sounds of The Stooges, Blondie, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with the playfulness, pop sensibility, and exuberance of the finest ’90s alt-rock. Mother Feather is the combination of the band’s two independently released recordings – 2011’s Mother Feather EP and 2013’s Living Breathing EP – plus two new songs, “Natural Disaster” and “The Power.”

For their efforts, the group has garnered massive buzz for their unique sound, vibrant Bowie-esque costumes and makeup, and enthralling live show. Having been featured on IFC.com, TeamCoco.com, and HuffingtonPost.com (who declared them “a great New York City band in the tradition of Great New York City Bands”), MOTHER FEATHER was also named “new band of the week” by Metal Hammer and has received much play on Daniel P. Carter’s Rock Show on BBC Radio 1.

To preview and purchase Mother Feather, visit: metalblade.com/motherfeather where the record is available in various formats and the video for “Living, Breathing” (filmed by director Marc McAndrews at NYC’s Bowery Electric) can be viewed.

April 17, 2015, Washington, D.C. – Periphery, who are about to embark on the second leg of their North American tour dates in support of the Juggernaut albums, premiere “The Bad Thing” video today via Billboard:

Jeff Holcomb directed the clip, which features a montage of live footage from the DC-based prog-metal outfit’s early 2015 tour. Drummer Matt Halpern explained to Billboard, “We thought that a live performance for ‘The Bad Thing’ video was a great way to show the intensity of the song and to show our direct expression of how it makes us feel on stage.”

Periphery released Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega simultaneously in late January via Sumerian Records, with the pair of releases landing at #22 and #25 on Billboard’s Top 200 (#15 and #16 on the Top Albums chart as well as #2 and #3 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Chart).

The band was on recent covers of Revolver and Outburn, who said, “Juggernaut… will most likely change the face of modern progressive metal as we know it.” Metal Sucks called the releases “full-fledged masterpieces” and Rolling Stone dubbed the albums “the group’s most ambitious project yet,” saying it “features some of the band’s most accessible music.”

Periphery begins a new round of North American dates on April 25 at Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, Fla. The band joins up with In Flames and All That Remains for a month of dates with stops at Carolina Rebellion, Rock on the Range and Rocklahoma interwoven.
