“This is one of the best Post-Metal releases I have heard since ISIS landmark classic – OCEANIC and VYGR’s Hypersleep.” – The Sludgelord
“Beak aren’t interested in being heavy for the sake of being heavy. There is a purpose to the power they unleash on record, using dynamic shifts as part of the storytelling movement and narrative.” – AOL Noisecreep
“My only qualm with Beak and Eyrie is that there’s just not enough of it. 5 tracks leave you wanting a hell of a lot more, but that’s a good thing, right!? Anyone who has had enough of the post-rock genre’s waterlogged ideas and lack of energy will love this band.” – Hellride
“I have no doubt that Beak will become a force to be reckoned with in the most-metal scene.” –Heavymetal.about.com
“Eyrie is more than a pleasant surprise. It’s one of the better EPs I’ve heard in some time. It being an EP is really the only somewhat negative thing I can say. I want more, 5 tracks isn’t enough.” – Stereokiller
“Eyrie is more than a pleasant surprise. It’s one of the better EPs I’ve heard in some time. It being an EP is really the only somewhat negative thing I can say. I want more, 5 tracks isn’t enough.” – Boston Phoenix
“The 5 tracks displayed on this fine EP display some stunning, sludgy post hardcore/post rock/screamo that’s about as finely crafted yet unique as any EP I’ve heard in some time and one of the rare times, I have no real comparison to make.” – Teeth of the Divine

Aaron Harris, Jeff Caxide and Clifford Meyer recently partnered with Chino Moreno (Deftones) to form Palms. The band’s debut album will be out in early 2013 via Ipecac. Aaron Turner’s Old Man Gloom released No in late June and he will be touring the U.S., Japan and Europe this fall with Old Man Gloom and Mamiffer. Mike Gallagher continues on with his solo project MGR as well as scoring films, most recently 22nd of May.
After several years of hard work trapped in the dungeons of creating a Heavy Metal masterpiece, NJ/NY Progressive Metal band FOREVERS EDGE have announced the return of singer CLAY BARTON (SUSPYRE) for their sophomore album, Hereafter, as well as bassist NOAH MARTIN (ARSIS).
CLAY BARTON comments:
“When I was first approached about being a part of the second album I wasn’t sure if I was going to have the time or energy to put forward what was needed from a vocalist, but when I started hearing the rough mixes I knew that it had a chance to be something very special. Sal has always been nice enough to give me the freedom to be creative and that makes recording his albums a much more enjoyable experience. If you aren’t having fun with a project, it comes across in the music for everyone to hear. My hope is that when everyone hears the album they experience not only the music, but also experience a little bit of the fun that went into recording it.”
NOAH MARTIN comments:
“I’m glad to have done this recording session with friends, the majority of whom I’ve known for nearly ten years. It’s definitely an effective gelling of musicians, Their music seems to capture the riffs of say, Iced Earth, the length and complexity of Blind Guardian’s arrangements, and the grandeur of Symphony X. It’s been hectic finishing both this and the Arsis album. Much thanks to the guys for asking me to play on their album, being patient, and even giving me a bass solo.”

CURRENTLY ON SUMMER SLAUGHTER, BAND PREP FOR OCT. 9 RELEASE OF THE PARALLAX II: FUTURE SEQUENCE
Aug. 15, 2012, LOS ANGELES — Between The Buried And Me have confirmed a fall tour spanning Japan, Australia and New Zealand with the kick-off date on Nov. 8 in Osaka, Japan.
The announcement comes as the Charlotte, North Carolina band are in the midst of a North American tour, co-headlining Summer Slaughter with a handful of headlining dates later this month. Between The Buried And Me follow the U.S. dates with an extensive European tour, which begins on Oct. 1 in Reading.
The Parallax II: Future Sequence marks the quintet’s most ambitious release to date and their first-full length release on Metal Blade arrives on Oct. 9. The 12-track, conceptual release was described by Tommy Rogers (vocals, keyboards) as: “A conceptual journey that takes the listener to worlds that seem familiar and worlds that make you scratch your head. From start to finish this is music we want to create, not music we think people want us to create. We create songs that keep us (and hopefully you) excited about heavy music.” The first single from the release, “Telos,” can be streamed at www.metalblade.com/btbam.
Between The Buried And Me have sold in excess of 400,000 records since their 2002 self-titled debut. “The group’s ability to layer long, melodic arcs over squibs of dissonance has never been more surgical and soulful,” said Alternative Press of the band’s prequel to The Parallax II (2011 EP The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues). Revolver described the set as “a cohesive piece of art” and added “Between The Buried And Me are on a level of songwriting skill that few bands hope to reach…”
Baroness were in a serious bus accident last night near Bath, England. The band members and crew are recovering at local hospitals. All tour dates are postponed until further notice.
It is said that great art has the power to take us outside of ourselves and bring us closer to ourselves simultaneously. Few bands have accomplished this rare feat on a more profound and consistent basis than NEUROSIS. For nearly three decades, their music has touched the hearts and minds of young men and women seeking contact with something beyond the physical world, something intangible, something that expresses the inner tumult of the human condition in a way that transcends time and space. Something that not only provokes questions but maybe even hints at answers.
Since 1985 this matchless force has surpassed the boundaries of any genre, never-ceasing to mutate and progress their songwriting and sonic delivery, and never-failing to mesmerize audiences both in the studio and onstage. And as the anticipation from their diehard fanbase reaches a boiling point, this week NEUROSIS unveil the title of their eleventh full-length studio creation, which will manifest itself as Honor Found In Decay.
The follow-up to their acclaimed 2007-released Given To The Rising album, the music on Honor Found In Decay is both torturous and transcendent. It is the ongoing exposition of a vast internal dialogue that seems to carry the weight of eons. With the right kind of ears and eyes, it can seem like the trials and tribulations of mankind are being channeled through five individuals: Steve Von Till, Scott Kelly, Noah Landis, Jason Roeder and Dave Edwardson. And yet? They will be the first ones to tell you that they are just regular people trying to make sense of the world around them.
Aided by Josh Graham, their resident visual guru, they transmit their interpretations through multiple sensory planes. The degree to which Neurosis allows them to step out of their everyday lives is the distance between one and zero, the distance between thinking and doing, the distance between this minute and the one that may or may not follow. Which is to say: NEUROSIS takes them outside of themselves and brings them closer to themselves. Simultaneously.
This next chapter in the evolution of NEUROSIS will see worldwide release through the band’s own Neurot Recordings this Autumn, in Germany October 26th, in the UK October 29th, and in North America on October 30th.
Further details on Honor Found In Decay will be made available over the coming weeks.
SORROWS PATH – The Rough Path Of Nihilism, is the debut album from Doom Metal juggernaut Sorrows Path; which was released back in late 2011 via Rock It UpRecords. Sorrows Path originates from Athens, Greece and are currently in the studio (Fragile Studios) recording their sophomore album.
The Rough Path Of Nihilism has received worldwide critical praise. The track Empty Eyes and Blackened Hearts shall give you every reason as to why the Metal praise keeps pouring in for Sorrows Path and their Doom debut. Melodic and billowing with a Classic Metal atmosphere; the end result from Empty Eyes and Blackened Hearts is a totally contagious vibe, feel, sound and aura of Doom from Sorrows Path.
Doom Metal this grand needs to be heard. Doom Metal this grand needs to be recommended to my Metal brethren. A Doom Metal song and video this grand needs to be declared: Stone’s METAL pick of the day! Metal be thy name.

METAL PRAISE FOR VEX:
“You might be quite surprised to discover that Vex are some long obscured treasure of progressive, moody melodic death/black/thrash metal that seems rather uncanny hailing from Texas, one of the brutal death capitals of the States. Here we’ve got something well off the beaten path, even though the stones paving said path have been lifted from more frequently traveled concourses.”– From the Dust Returned
“There is an emotional depth and reserved wisdom to the band’s songwriting which speaks of a forgotten style of black/death metal; the kind practiced by such genre forefathers as Dissection, Rotting Christ or Mortuary Drape.” – Metal Army America
Our sixth studio album will be a double concept album entitled, ‘The Afterman,’ and will be released in two separate full-length volumes. The first volume, ‘The Afterman: Ascension,’ will be available on both physical and digital platforms October 9, 2012 via Hundred Handed/Everything Evil, and distributed through Fontana/Ingrooves.
The second volume, ‘The Afterman: Descension’ is slated for release in Febrary 2013. The band has also confirmed a handful of intimate Northeast U.S. club shows leading up to the release of ‘The Afterman.’ The tour starts September 13 in Kingston, NY(dates are below).
A deluxe version of the ‘The Afterman’ will include a hardcover coffee-table book with expansive art by Heidi Taillefer and Nathan Spoor with collaborative written work from singer/creator Claudio Sanchez and writer Peter David that will create a song by song experience. David previously worked with Sanchez on the prose novel adaptation of the band’s 2010 album “Year of the Black Rainbow,” and the graphic novel adaptation of their 2003 album “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 (which reached #4 on the New York Times Bestsellers list for graphic novels earlier this year).” All the band’s titles, including ‘TheAfterman,’ fall into a grand sci-fi story arc called ‘The Amory Wars.”It was announced previously at this month’s San Diego Comic Con that The Amory Wars has been picked up by Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson of Leverage Productions to be developed into a live-action feature film.Coheed and Cambria is currently on the road with rock legends, Iron Maiden.UPCOMING TOUR DATES:AUGUST01 Salt Lake City, UT – USANA Amphitheatre with Iron Maiden02 Reno, NV – Knitting Factory*03 Mountain View, CA – Shoreline Amphitheatre w/ Iron Maiden04 Sacramento, CA – Sleep Train Amphitheater w/ Iron Maiden

About The Amory Wars: An epic, sci-fi fantasy set in an alternate universe (Heaven’s Fence) that chronicles the rise of superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign. The mythology was originally created by Sanchez to serve as inspiration for the band’s albums, but the series expanded to other mediums, including both prose and graphic novels.
About The Afterman: Sirius Amory, the most celebrated astronomer/scientist in the alternate universe of Heaven’s Fence is ‘‘The Afterman.’ Sirius (pronounced “Sy-ruhss”) is credited with the discovery of the energy force (known as The Keywork) that binds the 78 planets of these worlds together. He embarks on the greatest discovery of his existence, and possibly mankind’s. By doing so, what is truly most important to him begins to slip right through his fingers
Chicago, July 10, 2012 — Beak, the Chicago-based quartet band that eMusic described as “majestic” and said their music “deftly vaults between billowing atmospherics, polyrhythmic prog and face-melting noise “, debut their video for “Billions of Eyes” today via Stereokiller (http://www.stereokiller.com/newsreviews/news.cfm?intarticleid=11295) to celebrate the release of the band’s widely praised debut album Eyrieon vinyl.
Shot on location in the Mojave Desert and The Empty Bottle in Chicago, the video for “Billions of Eyes” is the visual realization of Beak’s bombastic Metal. “Scrambling to take cover in the caves of the barren desert, there is nowhere to hide from the billions of eyes that loom over the earth,” explains Chris Eichenseer, drummer for the post-metal outfit and the director/producer for the clip. “The hunt is on. From the heavenly bodies that turn in their grandeur above to the single-minded pursuit of the damned below, the only refuge is fear.” Live footage was shot by Chris Rejano.
Thanks to all who came out to support the vinyl release show – and we apologize for the cancellation of the Reckless Records In-Store performance. We will reschedule that soon.
SINGLE BULLET THEORY have made the recently recorded track “Edge of Broken” available for download via their Bandcamp page at: http://singlebullettheory.bandcamp.com/. The song is a reworked piece of older material that will appear as a bonus track on the band’s forthcoming self-titled album, which the band is set to record this fall. Guitarist/vocalist Matt DiFabio had the following to say about “Edge of Broken”:
“This is the song that got the band moving again after an almost three-year hiatus. Written about the rise and fall of Single Bullet Theory and the “Never Say Die” approach that I (Matt DiFabio) has toward this band or my musical vision. I personally feel that this is one of the best SBT tracks ever recorded as it exemplifies exactly what this band is made of musically. This track really came to life by the help of Mr. John Ruszin III. Everyone reaches the “Edge of Broken” at one point in their life… It’s all about what you do once you get there!”
“Edge of Broken” is available for $1 at singlebullettheory.bandcamp.com. The band recently completed a video for the track which is set to debut on July 1st.
SINGLE BULLET THEORY is currently gearing up for the North American Devastation Tour with INTO ETERNITY and RIKISHA. The tour will kick off on August 9th in Cudahy, WI. SINGLE BULLET THEORY will stay out on the road until August 21st and then hit the studio to record their fifth full-length album.

Nuclear Blast proudly announce the worldwide signing of the Norwegian Extreme-Metal-Band ENSLAVED.
After publishing the latest two albums “Vertebrae” (2008) and “Axioma Ethica Odini” (2010) via Nuclear Blast USA in North America, the band currently signed a worldwide contract.
The Band commented:
“We’re very, very (yes, very) pleased and proud to sign this deal with Nuclear Blast worldwide. We’ve already worked with Nuclear Blast US through our two latest albums; and our personal friendships with NB guys and gals on both sides of the Atlantic are even older. There’s no drama – we take great pride in the fact that there seldom is with us – it is simply a matter of one contract ending, and us going for what seems to be our best option at this point in time and space. This time the best choice for Enslaved is changing things up somewhat. We’re excited to see what the mixture of passion and professionalism at Nuclear Blast can do with the Enslaved name in the years to come. There is no doubt that the level of ambition, the experience and seriousness about what we do, form perfect common ground for Enslaved and Nuclear Blast. We’re in the process of making a new album that will initiate our new partnership, watch out for the approaching wave of news about that. For now, let’s just say that the album will be an absolute (Nuclear) blast!”
Gerardo Martínez, Label Manager of Nuclear Blast USA, comments:
“Enslaved is one of the most amazing bands to ever come from Norway. We’ve had the pleasure of working with them on their last two albums in North America, and from this day forth worldwide.
Looking forward their new masterpiece to be unleashed to the masses later in the year!”
The new album will be released this fall.
