Dallas Toler-Wade and his Metal band NARCOTIC WASTELAND invaded Columbus Ohio on October 29th, opening for the powerhouse ACCEPT. Over 500 (announced) die-hard Metal maniacs assembled at The King Of Clubs on this evening, well prepared for the Metal onslaught that was to be unleashed. I was eagerly one of them. I was not denied… NARCOTIC WASTELAND pummeled my Metal senses into submission. Yes they did.

Between Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio, there are TONS of music clubs and venues. With that said, I’ve never been to The King Of Clubs before this night. I’ll say this venue is very spacious, with a full bar, an upstairs dining area, outdoor sitting area and a large stage. I was impressed by The King Of Clubs and their entire staff. A first-class music venue.

Here’s a 57 second snippet (below) of NARCOTIC WASTELAND live that night. Enjoy.

Dallas Toler-Wade is a Metal warrior, having been an 18 year member of the brutally legendary NILE. He commanded the stage with a formidable presence and (obviously) appeared to be having a tremendous time singing and playing at every second. The crowd and band fed off each other and that’s what ignited the energy level to high. No doubt in my mind, NARCOTIC WASTELAND performed like a headliner on this night.

As a live band, NARCOTIC WASTELAND plays like a cohesive Metal unit and delivers a skull numbing Death Metal attack. I’ve seen many live shows; yet I haven’t been this impressed and had this much fun since I saw CRYPTOPSY some years back.

With new singles released (“Morality and the Wasp” and “The Best Times Have Passed”) prior to this show, NARCOTIC WASTELAND also have 2 previously released studio albums to draw material from. Their blend of Death meets Thrash with threads of Trad Metal blends flawlessly together. I applaud each band member for giving it ALL at King Of Clubs that night and look forward to seeing them live again on their next tour.

NECRODEATH – Legendary Italian Black-Thrashers Premiere “Oomny Ones” Video

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 13, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Today, Italian black-thrash metal trailblazers NECRODEATH share the new single “Oomny Ones”. Watch the video HERE.

The clip was produced by Time To Kill Records/Morbid Vision Italyand directed by the band’s frontman Flegias with the assistance of Merlin Music Management, BlåKläDer, Midnight Club.

The song is inspired by Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” – the scene in which Alex, the protagonist, is seen regaining his leadership among his “droogs”. In the video, the director (and singer of the band) elaborates this concept through the rivalry between two motorcycle gangs who meet to discuss the ownership of a territory. Those who are able to showcase a little (un)healthy ultra-violence will prevail. The video also shows the whole band drinking milk plus inside a replica of the famous Korova Milk Bar.

The band’s new record “Singin’ in the Pain” will be released via Time To Kill Records on November 28th 2022.

“Singin ‘in the Pain”
is a concept based on the movie “A Clockwork Orange” by Stanley Kubrick, where the band takes us on a one-way black-thrash journey, soaked in immorality and violence, and back to a vain attempt at redemption and normality.

The album is conceived in 9 tracks linked together by the narrating voice of Tony Dolan of VENOM INC. and supported in the finale by the presence of Eric Forrest of E-FORCE (ex-VOIVOD).

Ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence?

Tracklist:

01 Gang Fight
02 Transformer Treatment
03 The Sweet Up and Down
04 Redemperdition
05 Delicious Milk Plus
06 655321
07 The (In)sane Ultraviolence
08 Oomny-Ones
09 Anti-Hero

Check out the band’s latest single, “Transformer Treatment”, at THIS LOCATION.

“Transformer Treatment”
is a song written in collaboration with S.B. Reder (SCHIZO).

The moment you hear it, you know it’s NECRODEATH. Formed back in 1984, the Italian act is one of the real iconic black-thrash metal bands. With an ongoing career of almost 40 years, the band has helped to shape the Italian metal scene and the international underground as it is today. NECRODEATH released a cult-demo tape titled “The Shining Pentagram” and obtained an incredible success in the underground.

The demo is still considered a real gem in the thrash and black metal history. Tons of tributes in major magazines, fanzines and other underground outlets highlighted the release of the first two legendary albums “Into The Macabre” (1987) and “Fragments Of Insanity” (1989). And today after many full-lengths, EPs and side projects the long voyage to hell is not over yet.

Album discography:

Into the Macabre (1987)
Fragments of Insanity (1989; re-recorded in 2019)
Mater of All Evil (1999)

100% Hell (2006)

Prepare For A Doomsday Thrash Attack With GAMERRA’s “Couillon Death Squad”

Like a bat out of hell, thrash attack Gamerrai is coming at you hard and fast from Lafayette, Louisiana, USA. Their sound can be summed up as if Ghoul were written by doomsday preppers hopped up on PCP that listen to too much Revocation. They have a shiny new EP out that will scratch your thrash itch by filling your ears with tight riffs and speedy solos. “Couillon Death Squad” provides a twenty-minute thrash ride over three tracks that expand on the lore of the band. They explain the release:

“Over the years we have gotten a lot more intense and progressive musically and the vocal patterns and lyrics have gotten considerably more mature (not in content, but in quality). We’re pretty far forward from the sound people heard on “Detached from Reality” (2019). We hope that people will enjoy “Couillon Death Squad”. It is a big step up from our previously released material and we’re sure people will notice the difference.”

The EP features a varied collection of music, the first song and the last are polar opposites of each other. The opener “Couillon Death Squad” is fast and furious with a slower section in the middle and has a short runtime; the closer “Sugar Mill Headhunt” is slower, chunkier, and spaced out with a speedy section in the middle and a long runtime. The middle song “H.O.A.” has a Havok vibe to it, a good jam song for the classic thrash fans to sink their teeth into with a deadly solo. Gamerra definitely put a focus on holding the listener’s interest on this one.

“Couillon Death Squad” was produced by lead guitarist/vocalist Jacob Broussard and lead vocalist Jake Meche; it was mixed by Broussard, Meche, and guitarist Reece Benoit and mastered by Broussard. The EP art was done by Splezz.

Fast, weird, fun, and heavy, “Couillon Death Squad” is classic thrash suitable for any maniacs, especially those who enjoy Exodus, Death, and Warbringer.

Dallas Toler-Wade, was a long-standing 18-year member of the brilliantly Egyptian-themed metal band, Nile, where he composed the music for hit songs such as, “Execration Text”, “Permitting the Noble Dead to Descend to the Underworld”, and “Lashed to the Slave Stick”. Toler-Wade was also featured in Guitar World magazine alongside founding member and guitarist/vox/songwriter Karl Sanders. With his new band Narcotic Wasteland, he is pleased to announce the second single “The Best Times Have Passed” off the yet-to-be-titled new album coming in 2023.

Toler-Wade comments on the single:

When I was writing it I was at another big turning point in my life. I was feeling my own mortality. I was feeling beat down. As with me, I still manage to find good things within it all and pull myself out of it time and time again. I think we can all relate to the fact that that it’s not forever and we better make the best of things while we can.”

Listen to “The Best Times Have Passed” https://linktr.ee/narcoticwasteland

They expect good reception for the upcoming single, as a band, they have grown majorly and they sound focused, and mature through their writing, recording, and performing. They have released two albums, 2014’s self-titled and 2017’s “Delirium Tremens” with their third record due out in 2023.

Dallas worked once again with drummer, engineer, producer Erik Schultek, who is no stranger to the band having recorded drums, engineered and produced the debut album.

Inspired mostly by thrash metal and classic heavy metal, Narcotic Wasteland is becoming more thrash and speed and less death metal and getting better at writing material that is meaningful and powerful. They are recommended for fans of Vader, The Crown, and Nile.

Listen to “The Best Times Have Passed” https://linktr.ee/narcoticwasteland

In additional news, Narcotic Wasteland is currently hitting the road for USA tour dates supporting German heavy metal legends ACCEPT, during October (dates listed below). Those who attend will get to experience the full onslaught of Narcotic Wasteland. Always well rehearsed, they deliver a tight performance including dual guitars. From harmonies to counterpart melodies it gives the band some of that traditional metal style. They are also not afraid to challenge the audience with an array of styles from whiplash-inducing fast metal to infectious arena metal.

INCITE’s latest full-length, Wake Up Dead, was released in April via Atomic Fire Records. With Wake Up Dead, INCITE jettisons the extraneous bloat of slicker bands in favor of authentic grit and determination, consistently churning out “headbanging riffs with concussive force (Kerrang).” Ghost Cult champions, “a massively enjoyable collection of aggression from a band led by someone who has literally lived and breathed metal since the day he was born,” while Dead Rhetoric observes, “Consistent road warriors that they are, INCITE brings another platter to the table that should have no trouble adding more staples to the setlist – ensuring sweat infested hordes a glorious time.”

The very spirit and attitude of heavy music culture, courses through the veins of INCITE. Over the course of five albums — The Slaughter (2009), All Out War (2012), Up In Hell (2014), Oppression (2016), and Built To Destroy (2019) — the band has cemented their reputation as one of America’s leading groove armadas, heavily hitting home with their blend of old-school thrash majesty, frantic aggression, melody, and skill. Written over the course of several bouts of feverish inspiration throughout the pandemic, with recording duties again handled by legendary producer Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Suicide Silence, Everytime I Die), Wake Up Dead delivers in the most relentless way possible.

INCITE’s Wake Up Dead is available on CD, LP, and digitally. Find ordering options at THIS LOCATION.

Maryland Crossover Thrashers NINTH REALM To Release “A Fate Unbroken” In November

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on September 12, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Maryland-based Crossover Thrash Metal quintet NINTH REALM will release their debut full-length album A Fate Unbroken November 4 on Mercenary Press. The album is a perfect blend of of crossover thrash and traditional heavy metal that represents the band’s refined vision. “Plea to the Heavens,” the album’s first single, is streaming now at:

ninthrealmmd.bandcamp.com/track/plea-to-the-heavens

“Plea to the Heavens” is also streaming on Spotify.

A Fate Unbroken is a nine-track album that takes the influence of the widest range of heavy metal, 80s-toned thrash, death thrash, and hardcore that the decisive genres have to offer. Not only do the riffs, consistent guitar solos, and blackened vocals take the listener through a whirlwind of Slayer/Demolition Hammer era thrash metal, but the lyricism and quintessential raw fantasy style of their art and themes harken back to a Frank Frazetta/Ralph Bakshi age of pure Sword & Sorcery. A Fate Unbroken, for all intents and purposes, is a Maryland band’s attempt to bring a reunion of heavy metal and hardcore punk back to its raw, old-school roots.

Basing their lyricism and overall theme around the original fantasy realm of Tythorin, NINTH REALM delivers an electrifying synthesis of traditional heavy metal and hardcore punk for fans of both respective genres to enjoy.

Line-Up:

Joey Burke – Drums
Ben Hageage – Vocals
Jared Henry – Bass
Liam McMahon – Lead Guitar
Charles House – Rhythm Guitar

Pulling from a range of influences that span everything between blackened thrash to old-school death metal, the music of NINTH REALM rips and tears with a ferocity and cadence that perfectly encapsulates the epic scale and grisly atmosphere of grim-dark fantasy. Between the use of aggressive thrash d-beat and viscerally direct song structure of classic metal acts such as Celtic Frost, combined with the melodic riffage of classic bands like Testament/Mercyful Fate, and an added twist of Cro-Mags/Leewaystyle crossover, NINTH REALM wields what is perhaps one of the most poignant new sounds to emerge from the metal underground in recent memory.

FFO: Power Trip, Eternal Champion, High Command, Iron Age

Pre-Order: ninthrealmmd.bandcamp.com/album/a-fate-unbroken

Track Listing:

  1. Gates of Tythorin
  2. Plea to the Heavens
  3. Witches Choir
  4. Ondreis
  5. Evoke Thy Wrath
  6. Armageddon’s Howl
  7. Burning Wanderer
  8. Eternal Lance
  9. A Fate Unbroken

BIO: Sharing a bond for all things heavy metal and high fantasy, college classmates Joey Burke (drummer) and Liam McMahon (lead guitarist) joined forces in the fall of 2018, writing and practicing every week to produce the 2019 demo, Gates of Tythorin. Later adding Jared Henry (bassist) and Ben Hageage (vocalist) to the mix, Ninth Realm solidified their sound with their succeeding 2020 EP, All Hail Treachery. In 2022, to offer a glimpse at what is to come with their debut LP, Ninth Realm released Ondreis MMXXII, a promo tape featuring two songs that both share a track space on the debut full-length record.

Four years in the making, the Billboard-charting trio – Dave Davidson (vocals/guitars), Ash Pearson (drums), and Brett Bamberger (bass) – meticulously explore the allegorical and literal aspects of Hell as they dig deeper into the darker, more diabolical side of death metal.

In short, where the previous album, The Outer Ones (2018), jettisoned REVOCATION into the horrific maw of the cosmos, Netherheaven bores deftly through the nine rings of Hell to directly confront Lucifer and his multitudinous faces.

CRUEL FORCE – Signs With Shadow Kingdom Records, Prepares Comeback Album And Reissues Of Back Catalog

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, music videos, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , on August 27, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Shadow Kingdom Records announces the signing of Cruel Force. The first fruit of this union shall be the band’s highly anticipated third album, which will see release next year. Additionally, reissues of the band’s cult two albums, 2010’s The Rise of Satanic Might and 2011’s Under the Sign of the Moon, will follow on Shadow Kingdom on all formats.

Truest of the true, Germany’s Cruel Force burst onto the scene in 2008 with the Into the Crypts… demo. While many have tried to emulate the ancient German (black)thrash sound, Cruel Force brimmed with an authenticity that could not be denied, as well as songwriting that added to that noble tradition rather than lazily picking at its corpse. Their two successive albums, 2010’s The Rise of Satanic Might and 2011’s Under the Sign of the Moon, made Cruel Force a certifiably CULT name in the international metal underground. Sadly, the band fell into a hiatus following that second album, but now are reinvigorated with the comeback 7″ EP Across the Styx and are ready to make up for lost time with their imminent new album with Shadow Kingdom.

Check out their latest single to give you a taste of what’s to come with the new album:

CRUEL FORCE – “Across The Styx” (Official Video)

A statement from the band as follows: “Today, we would like to announce that we have signed a deal with Shadow Kingdom Records for the release of our third album and for the re-release of our first two records. Signing with an American label was the right choice for us since we know that a big part of our fanbase is situated on the other side of the Atlantic, and we know that it was always a problem for you to get a hold of our releases, now even more than ever with the increase of postage costs. This way, we hope that access will get easier and more affordable for you folks.”

Concluding, the band says, “As for Europe and Germany in particular, everything will also be readily available through Shadow Kingdom‘s extensive distribution network and through our own BigCartel shop. We feel that this is the best decision for the band and the fans, and we are looking forward to spread the metallic mayhem through Shadow Kingdom Records in the future!

Further news about Cruel Force‘s third album will be announced in time.

MISFIRE will be touring in support of Sympathy For The Ignorant, their ferocious debut full-length released through MNRK Heavy earlier this year. Conjuring old-school flavored thrash metal devastation with the kind of bombastic firepower that could wake the dead, MISFIRE creates more of a racket than bands twice their size, unleashing song after song of unrelenting savagery. It’s music that could have arrived in the thrash golden age of 1986, when bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Dark Angel, and Sodom delivered crucial records. And yet MISFIRE is forward-thinking, injecting modern metal mastery into their brew for a potent and timeless sound.

Captured in a small studio and engineered by vocalist/bassist Sean Coogan, MISFIRE’s Sympathy For The Ignorant is free from click-tracks and other unnecessary frills, projecting the purity of what three musicians raised on Pantera and the Big 4 sound like in a room together. The record is heavy, brawny, and confident, filled with the kind of earworm thrash metal riffs that sends aspiring players to the guitar store.

Sympathy For The Ignorant is available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats. Find ordering options at THIS LOCATION.

TOXIK – Release New Single “Creating The Abyss” – Issue Accompanying Lyric Video

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , on July 12, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Guitarist Josh Christian about the song: “This song takes on the concept of wage slavery by using a scene from the Kinross’ Paracatu gold mine in Brazil, one of the largest in the world. Slavery is alive and well, and we wear it around our necks and on our fingers everyday. A brutal syncopated riff adorned with polyphonic and angular harmonies and solos…Toxik strikes again!”

Watch the accompanying lyric video for the song on: https://youtu.be/sTr1qRnyQxo

“Dis Morta” marks the thrash metal legends’ third full-length album, and picks up where “Think This”, the band’s second album, leaves off. It’s an ambitious album with very little regard for tradition or even expectation – it’s honest and real, and the heaviest TOXIK release yet!

You can pre-order the album as a CD Digipak as well as limited edition vinyl LP in selected online stores – click here » https://lnk.to/dismorta

“Dis Morta” was mixed by Martin Furia, and mastered by Maor Appelbaum / Appelbaum Mastering. The album’s cover artwork was designed by Alcides Burn / Burn Artworks.

Even after four steamy, liver-destroying, gut-stretching decades in the name of heavy metal, there’s no stopping the TANKARD beer crew. Just in time for the celebrations surrounding their fortieth birthday, TANKARD will release their new full-length, Pavlov’s Dawgs, on September 30th. The record marks the band’s remarkable eighteenth album as well as their debut for the new label, Reaper Entertainment.

In advance of the record’s release, today TANKARD reveals first single, “Beerbarians,” proving that even after so many years they’re far from being old hat.

Comments vocalist Gerre: “We’re stoked to release our first single ‘Beerbarians’ — TANKARD-typical humor wrapped in a hard-hitting thrash sound with catchy hooklines. Listening in is mandatory! In this sense: carry the fire!”

View TANKARD’s “Beerbarians” lyric video at THIS LOCATION.

“Beerbarians” is available on all streaming platforms. The matching artwork of the single was created by Cliff Knese.

Pavlov’s Dawgs, which was recorded and produced at Gernhard Studio Troisdorf together with producer Martin Buchwalter, will be available on CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited earbook with previously unreleased pictures from the last forty years of TANKARD, and as a limited box set which includes two demos on cassette.

INTENT – Release New Single “Victims of Conquest”

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on June 19, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

High octane thrash outfit INTENT have unleashed “Victims of Conquest”, the first single from their upcoming album Exile. Delivering ludicrous speed, fierce energy and dynamic instrumentation, the new track is a feast of ferocious metal.

The band comments: “We are beyond stoked to present you with this first single from Exile: “Victims of Conquest”. We made sure to crank up the speed, intensity, and political outcry. You know, the way thrash was intended!”

Forming in Arizona in 2015, INTENT underwent line-up changes and spent time developing their sound before heading into the live scene. The outfit soon began opening up for bands like OVERKILL, DRI, and HAVOK to name a few. 2018 saw the release of their debut album Vox Populi, and now in 2022, Exile displays the thrashers’ hard work to cultivate the next era of their sound. Landing on August 26th, 2022, the new album unleashes commanding rhythms and powerful lyrics.

Thundering through the tracks, INTENT‘s immense impact never falters. The thrashers awaken a dark mood that seeps through the instruments and vocals, with a focus on the rhythmic quality of the music. They also unveil a progressive edge across Exile through non-standard time signatures enhancing the chaotic atmosphere of the band’s compositional style.

Exile is a whirlwind of raging thrash metal. INTENT have thrown their all into this thrilling album, it’s a brutal journey that needs to be experienced to be believed.

MUNICIPAL WASTE – To Release New Album “Electrified Brain” On July 1st, 2022

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on June 17, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

From: municipalwaste.com

MUNICIPAL WASTE will release the massively-anticipated 7th studio album, Electrified Brain, on July 1st via Nuclear Blast. The shocking cover artwork by James Bousema.

“It’s in the vein of songs like ‘Headbanger Face Rip’ and ‘Wave of Death’,” Tony Foresta notes. “It’s an inspirational song for our fans to cause bodily harm to themselves, but in a loud and healthy way, of course.”

“We’re not writing any love ballads to sell records,” affirms Tony. “We’re just doing what we’ve always done since the band started and that’s try to write loud, fast, and ripping hardcorepunkmetal. We hope you walk away with some bloody ears, blown speakers, pissed off parents, black eyes, and a healthy distrust of authority.”

Recorded in Philadelphia with producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Code Orange), “Electrified Brain” is a high-voltage non-stop masterclass of neck-snapping thrash that’d be the ideal soundtrack for high-speed car chases and backyard steel cage matches as witnessed on the new track “Grave Dive.”

“Electrified Brain” Tracklisting:

  1. Electrified Brain
  2. Demoralizer
  3. Last Crawl
  4. Grave Dive
  5. The Bite
  6. High Speed Steel
  7. Thermonuclear Protection
  8. Blood Vessel – Boat Jail
  9. Crank The Heat
  10. Restless and Wicked
  11. Ten Cent Beer Night
  12. Barreled Rage
  13. Putting On Errors
  14. Paranormal Janitor
