WARBEAST – Texas Thrash Behemoths Prepare For Live Takeovers; Band Welcomes Two New Recruits

Texas Thrash behemoths, WARBEAST, are readying for a long-anticipated live takeover with a slew of one-off shows through their homestate and beyond throughout the Spring and Summer months. The festivities commence this Friday in San Antonio at Fitzgerald’s. The following evening, the band will bring their sonic devastation to Welcome To Hell Fest 2015 in Houston alongside Deadhorse, Poor Dumb Bastards and more.

Additional WARBEAST live incursions include an appearance at the Ft. Worth Metal Fest in Ft. Worth on Memorial Day weekend, with Eyehategod and Goatwhore, One Fest 2015 in Dallas, with Mobile Deathcamp and Devourment and Full Terror Assault Open Air Fest in Cave-In-Rock, with Fear Factory, Eyehategod and M.O.D with future onstage infiltrations being deliberated.

The latest bout of live mayhem finds WARBEAST with an updated lineup featuring newest recruits, second guitarist Drew Shoup and bassist Lyric Ferchaud (stepson of vocalist Bruce Corbitt), two young, thirsty Lonestar thrash heads and longtime WARBEAST devotees. Comments Corbitt, “We are back with a new lineup and we’re ready to hit the stage again doing what we do best, that is to kick some ass Texas thrash style! We are also busy working on some new songs and talking about entering the studio sometime in August to record this deadly new material. I’m anxious to start this next chapter of WARBEAST. WARBEAST was originally forged in the Fall of 2006 under the name Texas Metal Alliance. In April of 2009 the band officially changed their name to WARBEAST and united with Philip H. Anselmo’s Housecore Records. WARBEAST‘s roots are firmly entrenched in the legendary ’80s Texas underground metal scene. Vocalist Bruce Corbitt was the voice of speed metal splatter kings Rigor Mortis, who achieved major label success on Capitol Records in 1988. Guitarist Scott Shelby was part of the riff machine behind Gammacide, one of Texas’ most furious thrash exports while drummer Joey Gonzalez now also provides blastbeats and mayhem for Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals.

TORMENTOR – Sign With Static Tension Recordings; New Album Due Out In July

Static Tensions Recordings is pleased to announce its latest signing, California thrashers TORMENTER. The label will be releasing the band’s previously self-released album Prophetic Deceiver, which received rave reviews upon release. The album is set to be released on July 24 2015. The band is recommended if you like Exodus, Warbringer and Destruction.

Static Tension Recordings CEO Kyle Stevens had the following to say about the signing:

ARTILLERY – Denmark Thrash Veterans To Kick Off United Legions Tour 2015 + First Ever Shows In China Confirmed

Denmark Thrash battalion, ARTILLERY, will return to the US this Friday to kick off the United Legions Tour 2015. Set to initiate in Los Angeles, California, the trek will trample sixteen stages including an appearance at RK NYDM Spring Bash in Cudahy, Wisconsin before wrapping up on April 27th in Salt Lake City, Utah. MERIDIUS Self-Titled EP – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

4 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

MERIDIUS is a Thrash Metal band out of British Columbia, Canada and their 3 song, self-titled EP has been released on March 20th. I really dig this band’s logo and the chosen color of red on black. That’s old school, man. Hopefully I don’t use this “old school” phrase too often; only old school kicks major ass and I live for old school Metal. Are you old school?

This EP contains a whole lot of guitar crunch, along with plenty of reasons to crank up the volume LOUD and bang thy head. The guitar solo on Walk The Plank is unreal good stuff and I admire how MERIDIUS mellows out musically in the final minute of this song; a courageous touch that works just fine for me.

I’m really impressed by how in-your-face the guitars are and still the vocals and rhythm section explode into the forefront as well. In other words, nothing gets buried in these songs. Another impressive element to MERIDIUS is the vocals of Eric Willmott who pronounces the lyrics in a Tom Araya (South Of Heaven) style.

What I really enjoy most is this band is a bounty of Thrash Metal promise and they don’t go for the need-for-speed route; one that would transform them into an Extreme band anyways. MERIDIUS sounds like they’re on course for some great achievements in Metal, both with their convincing musical talent and strong EP of songs. I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears on MERIDIUS. Metal be thy name. – Stone

BIOTOXIC WARFARE “Lobotomized” – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

4.5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

Biotoxic Warfare released their debut full-length, Lobotomized, on January 19th of this year, via Slaney Records. This amazing album will be released in North America on June 23rd, 2015 via Static Tension Recordings. Biotoxic Warfare originates from Greece and list Kreator, Sodom and many of the U.S. old school Death Metal bands as their influences. Biotoxic Warfare have learned well from listening to such legendary influences and it is heard loud and clear on Lobotomized.

The opening track Mors Indecepta is an instrumental, one which builds up at a moderate pace, reminding me of Metallica’s Ride The Lightning era. Biotoxic Warfare plays Thrash Metal that is refreshingly original and they are obviously committed to what their peers Havok and Warbringer have done; that is to write, record and execute old school Thrash with 0% smoke and mirrors.

Lyrically, Biotoxic Warfare takes no prisoners in standing up to world religions and religious beliefs, on Lobotomized. The cover art to Lobotomized says it all and I do declare the artwork screams: F’N METAL!! What is so great is how much Biotoxic Warfare makes me want to put on unlaced sneakers and a denim jacket, yet I can’t due to the freaking super cold weather we keep having here in Ohio. Yeah, my work boots and leather jacket do keep me warmer. Sorry for the momentary rant.

There are (too many to count) delectable riffs and solos exploding from Lobotomized. Mike on vocals is fabulous and doesn’t sound like any other big name from the past; something I find very embracing! Dimator on lead guitar and Stelios on rhythm guitar are an unreal six string duo to listen to, damn right they are! The rhythm section of Panagiwtis PS on bass and Orestis on drums round out this band and yes they kick Metal ass on Lobotomized too.

Seriously, Biotoxic Warfare is a Thrash Metal band that the Metal community across every continent MUST know about and get on board with. All 8 songs on Lobotomized are formidable and worthy of being the opening track to this album. It would be sensational to see one of our Big 4 bands take Biotoxic Warfare out on tour with them; Thrash fans need to know that our Metal future has Biotoxic Warfare in it and all will be okay. ‪CLAUSTROFOBIA – Announce Headline European Tour!

Heady advice from vocalist and guitarist Marcus D’Angelo on what Europe can expect when Brazilian Thrash heavyweights Claustrofobia come crashing into town on their headline Visceral European Tour.

The band announce a 29 date tour taking in eleven different countries over nearly two months on the road, and include appearances alongside the likes of Primordial and Fleshgod Apocalypse at Portugal’s SWR Festival [01/05/15]. More dates will be added in the coming weeks.

Claustrofobia has been causing brutal Thrash mayhem in Brazil and beyond for the past twenty years and the band is looking forward to celebrating their anniversary with their European fans! POWER TRIP – Texas Crossover Act Continues Raging Tour Schedule Into New Year

Since the 2013 release of their debut LP, Manifest Decimation, on Southern Lord, Texas maniacs, POWER TRIP, have toured incessantly, bringing their hyperactive brew of modernized-but-old-school thermonuclear crossover to ragers across multiple continents. The ongoing attack will continue into 2015, as the band has just announced a new bash of US tour dates in February and March, with their performance at Florida’s FYA Fest still confirmed before the year comes to a close.

First up, closing their crushing 2014 tour schedule down, POWER TRIP will bring their mayhem to the Fern Park, Florida-based FYA Fest, joining a bruising roster of hardcore acts including Down To Nothing, Incendiary, Code Orange, Cold World, Bitter End, Mammoth Grinder, Discourse, Homewrecker and tons of others on December 27th and 28th. From February 23rd through 25th, they’ll raid three Texan towns: Houston, Austin and San Antonio, alongside S.H.I.T..

On March 3rd, POWER TRIP gets underway with a three-week run through the Midwest and West Coast states, set to conclude at South By So What?! 2015 Festival in Grand Prairie, Texas, on select dates joining Build And Destroy, Title Fight and Merchandise. As to how they came to the lineup they’ve assembled for Blood In Blood Out, Hunting says, “We were at an impasse, and this album is number 10, so it had to be special.”

ANTHRAX – TO RELEASE ‘CHILE ON HELL’ DVD ON THE 16TH OF SEPTEMBER

Get ready to mosh in the privacy of your own home, because multiple Grammy-nominated thrash masters ANTHRAX have announced the release of “Chile On Hell”, a live-in-concert DVD that is due on September 16th. “Chile On Hell” was filmed at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Chile on May 10, 2013 and features ANTHRAX performing an extended set that featured songs from the band’s entire catalogue.

“Chile On Hell” will be available on DVD and Blu-ray and 2 Live CDs, was recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound, and will retail for $16.98.

“Santiago was the perfect place to film the show for this,” said ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante. “When we’d played there in the past, we’d finish our set, play our encore and go back to the dressing room. But every time, the fans would continue to scream and cheer and clap. I mean, they went on and on, they wouldn’t stop. One time Scott [Ian, guitar] and I walked out to the side of the stage just to watch what was going on in the audience, it was intense. Why wouldn’t we want to film a DVD in front of an audience like that?

“Plus,” Benante continued, “the time was right to do this DVD… We wanted to finish on a high note. We didn’t want to look back and regret that we didn’t record the live show.”

“Chile On Hell” was produced by Jay Ruston and filmed by City Drive Entertainment Group and DC3 Global. The DVD’s cover art was designed by Stephen Thompson, who partnered with Benante to “redesign” the artwork from last year’s “Anthems” EP.

EXODUS – Announce Special Guests On New Album “Blood In Blood Out”

EXODUS proudly announce the special guests appearing on the latest showcase of unrefined rage BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT, the band’s tenth studio album due out on October 10th (EU), 13th (UK), 14th (NA) via Nuclear Blast Records.

Crafting an industrial sound bed on the intro to the album opener “Black 13” is electronic music producer Dan the Automator (GORILLAZ, MIKE PATTON, DELTRON 3030).

“We ran into each other a couple times,” shares EXODUS guitarist & songwriter Gary Holt. “I knew what I wanted to hear and I knew he could do it, and could do it that day. So we sent him a file with the drums and guitars we already had there and just told him to go crazy with it.”

Testament frontman Chuck Billy lends his signature roar to the track “BTK,” one of the first songs recorded by returning vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza, who recently said, “Chuck and I have known each other forever. We work really well together, we know each other really well. So if I’m doing my vocals and he’s there, I can trust him to go ‘No way Zet, doesn’t sound good like that. Do it like this,’ or ‘Yeah that’s killer.’ If he says it sounds killer, I know it is.”

Original band guitarist Kirk Hammett of Metallica contributed a solo to “Salt The Wound.”

“This was actually the first time Kirk got to play on an official EXODUS release,” states Holt. “He did the early demo, and then joined Metallica and didn’t do anything with us after that. So he was totally gung-ho about it. He came down and ripped out a bunch of takes and we picked the best one and then had a barbecue and drank beer.”

“It felt really casual, really cool – just like it did back in 1980 when we were all just hanging out back in the day,” Hammett confessed to RollingStone.com in July.
