VOIVOD – ‘MORGOTH TALES’ (2023)

Might as well start our UFO album covers off with the Sci-Fi legends of Metal themselves: VOIVOD. ‘Morgoth Tales’ is an album of re-recordings from the bands’ back catalogue of great albums and will be released on July 21st via Century Media Records.

HYPOCRISY – ‘WORSHIP’ (2021)

Swedish Death Metal juggernaut HYPOCRISY really went all out on the Ancient Alien theory with this album cover for their thirteenth studio album: ‘WORSHIP’.

Crosby Stills & Nash – ‘Daylight Again(1982)

Yup. Even Crosby Stills & Nash couldn’t resist a UFO theme for an album cover.

BOSTON – ‘WALK ON’ (1994)

The iconic BOSTON spaceship has graced every one of their album covers. We’ve highlighted three other BOSTON album covers in our past UFO posts and WALK ON’ gets the nod this time around.

PARLIAMENT – ‘5 Classic Albums(2016)

The slipcase cover for this 5 CD set of classic albums from Parliament surely shows a UFO floating around! Then again it’s only fitting; for this band spread their Funk all over the Universe!

Thank you for checking out this crazy post! Keep your eyes to the sky! 👀

Some METAL Thoughts From Stone – April 9th, 2023 – Mötley Crüe, Rainbow And Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3

I’m thrilled that Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 is hitting up theaters on May 5th. Yes, I’m a fan. I’ve watched the first trailer for the final installment of this amazing franchise at least a dozen times already. Marvel Studios is mandatory escapism for me.

The Rainbow classic cover song “Since You’ve Been Gone” (from 1979’s Down To Earth) is played throughout the trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3. I’m ecstatic over this! I’ve had this song on my Spotify playlist for a long time and have forever loved this song. Kudos to Rainbow and especially Graham Bonnet for this immense return to worldwide exposure; it’s been long overdue! For all the fact nerds out there, this song was written and performed back in 1976 by Russ Ballard.

In case you’ve been living on the dark side of the moon this past week, legendary guitarist Mick Mars was sued by Mötley Crüe and he thus counter sued. The short story is: Mötley Crüe believes Mick Mars quit the band once he quit touring. Mick Mars believed he never quit the band and only resigned from touring due to health reasons. Ugh. It’s a hot mess. Just google this story for all the mud slinging details. If I’m picking sides, based on what I’ve researched, I’m in the Mick Mars camp.

MIKE TRAMP “Songs Of White Lion” Studio Album Releases On April 14th via Frontiers Music s.r.l.

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , , on March 31, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Respected vocalist and guitarist Mike Tramp has announced the upcoming release of “The Songs Of White Lion,” via Frontiers Music Srl on April14, 2023. As the title implies, the album sees Tramp re-imagining select cuts from his former band White Lion‘s catalog. Additionally, Tramp will be embarking on a ‘Songs of White Lion’ U.S. tour in May 2023. Dates can be seen below and on Tramp’s website. https://miketramp.dk/

“For me, the period of 1983-1991 was a once in a lifetime experience. Everything I did back then was for the first time, and even though it was beyond exciting and adventurous, when it came to an end, it was more than just the end of a band, it was also the end of a very specific time in my life that I had lived and been part of. Over the next 20 years, I would revisit that time in my life in small parts, but never felt 100% comfortable with it. I simply could not force myself to recreate what I once was,” says Tramp.

“Now, here I am again, the year is 2023 and I have recorded an album of the ‘big’ White Lion songs as close to the originals as possible, but exploring small new parts that today I feel should be that way. I am not 26 anymore, I don’t sing like I am 26, and I wouldn’t be doing justice to the songs or myself if I tried to sing like I am 26. Today, I sing the songs that I wrote with Vito Bratta over 40 years ago exactly the way I am today. This is the only way I can embrace them and feel at home and be honest to myself and the songs,” he concludes.

Tramp first came to prominence in the music world with White Lion, who formed in 1983. After signing to Atlantic Records, the band enjoyed great success with the release of their second album, “Pride” in 1987, which included the hits ‘Wait’ and ‘When the Children Cry’. The band’s third album, “Big Game” (1991) and fourth album, “Mane Attraction” (1992) continued the band’s winning streak, but ultimately White Lion disbanded in 1992.

After White Lion, Tramp formed the hard rock band Freak Of Nature, who had a decidedly darker and harder vibe than White Lion. Freak Of Nature would release three studio albums before disbanding in 1996.

In 1998, Tramp initially started his solo career. His debut solo album, “Capricorn” came out in 1998 and in 2002, his second solo album, “Recovering The Wasted Years” was released. Tramp would then take a break from his solo career from 2004-2008 to tour and record under the name Mike Tramp’s White Lion and eventually under the name White Lion, releasing the album “Return Of The Pride” in 2008.

Since 2009, Tramp has been writing and recording as a solo artist releasing nine studio albums, including his most recent, 2022’s “For Første Gang”. He has also been a consistent presence on the road, both as an acoustic solo artist and with a backing band, with no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

SKAM – Release New Single ‘Do It Again’ And Announce Remastered Album ‘Intravenous’

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, classic rock music, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 27, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Do It Again is a previously unreleased track by UK rock band SKAM and is officially out now through X-Ray Records/Golden Robot Records.

Originally recorded during the sessions for Intravenous in 2021, the song is a love letter to the UK rock scene and the music that inspired the boys to pick up their instruments. Firmly inspired by the classic rock sound, the track uses this as a template while still having the stadium chorus and power riffs that fans have come to expect from the Leicester rockers.

Due to release March 3, Intravenous is the culmination of SKAM’s 2-part anthology, making up their 4th full length release. The album consists of both earlier released EPs –Intra and Venous, and has been re-mastered by Ade Emsley, known for his work mastering for Iron Maiden and other great bands.

The album is inspired by modern day struggles and each song focuses on a negative human trait but sends the message that in any situation, there is always hope. Having honed their craft, the lads have gone back to basics and put together a collection of hard-hitting tracks.

Lyrically, the songs follow the same theme of human conditions and experiences. We have really tried to push the envelope of the SKAM sound on this one and there is something there for fans both old and new. You will hear hard hitting bangers typical of the sound SKAM are famous for, but also some curve balls in the form of a power ballad and a 90s style grunge track!” – Steve Hill (vocalist/guitarist)

The track listing will run in ‘album order’ as the band believes it should run when put together, and the release will include the previously unreleased track ‘Do It Again’

Now, they are considered to be at the forefront of the ‘New Wave of Classic Rock’ movement that is currently sweeping the nation.

To date, SKAM have independently released 3 albums, It’s Come to This (2011), Peacemaker (2014) and The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard (2017). With these releases, they established themselves as a live force to be reckoned with. The band have hit the road with The Answer, Airbourne, Skindred, The Quireboys, and GUN, to name just a few formidable live acts.

Their single ‘Take it Or Leave it’ was voted as ‘track of the week’ by Classic Rock Magazine and has since been included on Earache Records’ ‘New Wave of Rock N Roll’ compilation vinyl. Their recent EP Intra hit the UK Rock Chart at # 6!

SKAM don’t write songs to a formula, but as rock fans trying to capture what they would want to hear.

ABOUT VANILLA FUDGE:

Vanilla Fudge was one of the first American groups to infuse psychedelia into a heavy rock sound to create “psychedelic symphonic rock” an eclectic genre which would, among its many off shoots, eventually morph into heavy metal.

Although, at first, the band did not record original material, they were best known for their dramatic heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs which they developed into works of epic proportion.

Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band called The Pigeons, formed in New Jersey in 1965 with organist, Mark Stein, bassist, Tim Bogert, drummer, Joey Brennan, and guitarist, vocalist and US Navy veteran, Vince Martell.

In the summer of 2006, the original Vanilla Fudge reunited to tour with The Doors of the 21st Century; it culminated in a VH-1 special, “Decades of Rock.”

Vanilla Fudge celebrated their 50th year Anniversary in 2017 and are still rocking the world in the current day with one of their greatest hits ‘You Keep Me Hanging On‘ featured in the Quentin Tarantinomovie ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’

LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, And LA Maybe Concert Review – By Tanis Enos

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, concerts, guitarists, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 10, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Location: Amos’ Southend – Charlotte NC

Date: 7/27/2022

While on the Sonic Slam Tour, LA Guns and Faster Pussycat broke away from the Keifer Band to perform a sold out show of their own. Fans of all ages lined up outside Amos’ Southend in Charlotte North Carolina to witness their own piece of 80’s metal history. Members of Faster Pussycat graciously greeted fans as they walked to the connected restaurant for some preshow refreshments.

Doors opened at 7:00pm and fans filed in filling in both levels to max capacity. First to take the stage was Carolina natives LA Maybe. This 5-piece rock n roll band was the perfect way to open the show. These young musicians perfectly captured the old school style of rock that both LA Guns and Faster Pussycat bring to the table. Right out of the gate they had the whole venue pumped and ready to go, playing all original music. Midway through the show, guitarist Driz let fans know that he had rocked so hard he chipped a tooth. As their set came to an end lead singer, Goliath Furr, began to talk about how the band was trying to gain a spot on the upcoming KISS Kruise. Furr turned his attention to drummer, Ryan Fosnow, who was holding up a sign that said “Show me your boobies.” Once he turned the sign over it instructed fans to vote for them on Lamaybe.com/vote. They ended their show encouraging fans to sing along to their original song “Oh Sugar”. After the show the band mingled with fans to watch the rest of the performers.

Faster Pussycat took the stage next and were welcomed by thunderous applause and cheers. Opening the show with “Jack the Bastard” it was immediately clear that lead singer, Taime Downe, still had the vocal strength that made Faster Pussycat just as fierce in the 80’s. Downe stands center stage with such pride and confidence and has an amazing band to back him up. The talents of bass player Danny Nordahl, best known as Slim Tender, and drummer Chad Stewart combine to create an exceptional rhythm section and truly shine in songs like “Bathroom Wall”. The guitar duo of Ronnie Simmons and Sam Bam Koltun really bring the sleaze. Before he even plays a note, you can already tell that Simmons is a true rockstar. His style, both in the way he plays and how he dresses can easily be seen as having inspiration from the Ramones to AC/DC. The punk flair that Simmons provides adds a little extra something to the Pussycat set. The true star of the show, however, was in fact Sam Bam Koltun. He truly is a guitar virtuoso at such a young age. He makes every strum and pluck look so easy and it is safe to say that being on stage and performing truly comes natural to him. Even though there is only one original member left, each musician plays like they were there the day the song was written.

Fans were given a special treat when former Faster Pussycat and current LA Guns guitarist, Ace Von Johnson joined the band to perform “Bathroom Wall”. The fun did not end there, though. Downe took to side stage as Slim Tender had his turn on vocals. The band welcomed LA Guns bass player, Johnny Martin to the stage and Tender sang “Pretty Fucked Up”. This certainly got the crowd even more pumped. Faster Pussycat ended their show with “Babylon” and left fans scratching for more.

LA Guns wrapped the night with a miraculous 16 song set that included songs from a very diverse set of albums. They opened with an explosion performing the first track off “Checkered Past”, “Cannonball”. Lead vocalist, Phil Lewis, immediately had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. It does not take long to pick up on the fact that Lewis loves what he does. He is a front man that the younger generation will always be able to enjoy as his vocals have remained immaculate even after over 44 years of singing. While having Lewis on vocals is extremely important for their sound, you can’t have LA Guns without founding member and band namesake, Tracii Guns. Guns continues to amaze fans with his iconic technique and sound. Right before playing “Over the Edge”, Guns began to play his guitar with a violin bow. Long time fans of Tracii know that he is a very big Led Zeppelin fan and this is evident to be a tribute to Jimmy Page with a Tracii Guns twist. This was the first tour to feature Shawn Duncan on drums. Duncan, who also played in BulletBoys, melded so well with the rest of the band, you would have thought he had been with the band from the beginning. A ball of energy was personified in the form of Johnny Martin that night. Martin was in everyone’s face playing his absolute heart out on bass. It was quite the sight to see as he and Ace would bump into each other or play back to back throughout most of the set.

The fun did not stop there, as both Lewis and Guns stepped aside and welcomed Koltun back to the stage as guitarist Ace Von Johnson took over on vocals to sing a cover of “New Rose” by The Damned. Ace started the song with a small speech stating “Do something fucking nice man, this world is fucking numb as it is. There’s too much fucking negative shit man, do something cool”. As a well known animal advocate this type of thing is not out of character for Ace, and the speech was met with a very intense positive reaction. Though Ace is better known for his guitar work, his love for punk rock showed through in his vocals and wowed everyone. As the show came to an end the band took their final bow and, to lighten the mood, began to dance around the stage to a cover of “So Long, Farewell” By The Vandals. Fans cheered and screamed for more as the band excited the stage.

After the show 4 out of 5 members of Faster Pussycat made their way over to their merch table to take pictures with EVERYONE. Ace also made his way into the large crowd of fans to take pictures. Faster Pussycat and LA Guns are perfectly matched to tour together. The crowd’s energy was constant during both bands. Even though the Sonic Slam Tour has come to an end, it is safe to say that this is not going to be the last time we see Faster Pussycat and LA Guns together.

Due to David Coverdale’s “persistent upper respiratory infection” Whitesnake has cancelled their 2022 North American tour with Scorpions and Thundermother. Scorpions and Thundermother will still proceed with their North American tour, together.

From Whitesnake.com:

It is with profound disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to join The Scorpions on their US and Canadian tour due to my continued treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection that affects my ability to perform. This includes the cancellation of our own headlining shows as well.

While Whitesnake will no longer be on the tour, the Scorpions will be continuing on. We Wish Our Good Friends, The Scorpions Every Success!!!

We Wish You Well”

From The Dead Daisies newsletter:

Hey everyone,

We’ve got some awesome news and really excited to bring you our new single, ‘Radiance’ off the upcoming album!

Hope you’re gonna love ‘Radiance’ with its thunderous opening, it really sets the scene on this heavy rock extravaganza.  You’ll dig the riff with its deep 70’s vibe, born in the industrious heartland of England.  Glenn’s power house vocal, towers above the musical storm of the duelling guitars of Doug and David and the earthshaking drums of Brian Tichy.

This is going to rock LIVE!

“Well new music out… we have a very unique and interesting song here called ‘Radiance’. Different than we have written before….It’s the first off our next album so crank it up!” – Doug Aldrich

Put Thursday June 2nd in your calendar cause we’re gonna give you a glimpse into the metaverse…

Our first meta cinematic (video) for ‘Radiance’ will introduce you to a parallel universe with the Daisies’ digital offspring, The Meta Daisies.  Accompanying them in this new dimension is their guardian Daisy at the helm.  ‘Radiance’ will give a promise of what’s to come in the Daisyland Metaverse.

“I’m excited for everyone to hear ‘Radiance’, a little slab of new Daisies rock! It’s been a lot of fun recording with Doug, Glenn and David, and now I’m psyched to throw down live with the guys! Hope to see you all out there on tour this year!” – Brian Tichy

Strap yourself in for a rockin’ ride, to infinity and beyond!

Radio Exile - promo band pic - 2015 - #33NMSSMO669

HighVolMusic is pleased to announce that RADIO EXILE has signed on with the label for release of their self titled debut.

In the post era of the FM dominated airwaves comes a new generation of classic rock, RADIO EXILE.

On rare occasions, some magical-artistic vibe goes out calling up a unique set of musicians to create groundbreaking music. When truly great musicians come together, the resulting brotherhood/sisterhood embraces their diversity, enabling them to collaborate so as to push through otherwise insurmountable boundaries. Collaboratively, they each pour the very best of what makes them cutting edge individually, into one dynamic presentation. For the rest of us, we are compelled to listen over and over.

RADIO EXILE features Chandler Mogel / Lead and Backing VocalsCharlie Calv / Piano, Keyboards, Jimmy Leahey / Guitars, Backing Vocals, Kenny Aaronson / Bass, and Dave Anthony / Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals. Individually, these musicians that come together to form RADIO EXILE have perform on stage or in the studio with the greatest artists of our time. This list includes Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Hall and Oates, Allison Krauss, Billy Idol, John Waite, members of Pink Floyd, Styx, Journey, Van Halen, the Rolling Stones, and Black Sabbath. This talent pool has been tapped, used, and appreciated over the years. Now, together as one, five brilliantly successful, creative worlds collide in a panoramic musical explosion.

Enlisting Grammy-nominated engineer/producer Steve DeAcutis (Vanilla Fudge, Cyndi Lauper, Corey Glover) and veteran producer/A&R man Steve Lunt (Britney Spears, ‘NSync , Joan Jett), the guys checked into the SPA (Sound Spa Recording) and an immediate synergy took hold. The finishing touches were then added by top mastering engineer Alan Douches (Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Train, Pete Townsend) at his West West Side Music facility.

The RADIO EXILE debut is set for a November release via HighVolMusic and will be available as a special-limited edition E.P. combo package. Additionally, HVM is putting a deal together with a Japanese partner to make the full length release available as an import. A European version will also be available via AOR Heaven/Cargo.

“Charlie Calv and I go back a ways to the old Chavis Records days. We had not seen each other for years and wouldn’t you know it, we run into each other at last years Rock N’ Skull festival. Naturally we stayed in touch and when he presented the RE project to me I was blown away! It’s fresh, new, not outdated and I am a big fan of Chandler Mogul’s work. Every musician in this project is magnificent! Of course I said let’s make it happen! I am honored to have been asked and to be part of the Radio Exile team. We’ve added another component of real rock music to continue the diverse portfolio of artists we have at HighVolMusic.”Bill Chavis, CEO, HighVolMusic

RADIO EXILE is working on a new video for ‘No Pity On The Highway’ to coincide with the release with details to be announced. More info available at http://www.highvolmusic.com or www.radioexile.net.

As reported on The Official AC/DC Website:

Rock or Bust, the highly anticipated new studio album from AC/DC, will be released December 2, 2014. Featuring 11 new tracks and recorded in Spring 2014 at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC, ‘Rock or Bust’ finds AC/DC once again working with producer Brendan O’Brien and mixer Mike Fraser.

“Rock or Bust” is the first AC/DC album in the band’s 41 year history without founding member Malcolm Young on the recordings. Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm’s condition, he will not be returning to the band. AC/DC will undertake a world tour in support of ‘Rock or Bust’ in 2015. Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on ‘Rock or Bust’ and will accompany the band on tour.

Starting September 27, Turner Sports will provide fans a sneak peek of the new track ‘Play Ball’ as part of the 2014 Major League Baseball Postseason campaign.

KISS “Reason To Live” – 1987 Music Video Is: Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, Music, music news, rock music, rock music news, rock music videos with tags , , , , , on August 6, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Sunrise Wallpaper - 2014 - #7771

What has inspired me to choose this 1987 music video from the iconic KISS for Stone’s Metal Pick Of The Day, are the lyrics. If you can get past the cheese and sugar-free cola imagery of the video itself, the message is simple: Everybody’s got a reason to live. Too many innocent people are dying in our world today due to wars, gang violence, unrest and hostility. Crippled, sickly children and adults are struggling everyday to live; while their waking up the next day is a personal victory. Homeless people have tales to tell; if only anyone would listen. Ebola is on the loose in Western Africa, with no validated medical cure at hand.

Too much (irrational) emphasis is put on a person’s value to society or their family; based on how high their salary is. Skin color or one’s religious loyalty (or lack thereof) can ignite unspeakable hate crimes and racism. Immigrant has become a four-letter word? Heroine is taking the lives of people around-the-clock. Community food pantries struggle to stay stocked.

Plus, if you factor in the Oregon wife and mother of two toddlers, Jennifer Huston, who went missing on July 24th (later to be found yesterday) twenty-five miles from her home, deceased and outside of her vehicle on a remote dirt road, the meaning and value of life becomes more profound. No one has all the answers to the suffering, still, as a global community, humanity needs to obliterate insanity.

I am not preaching, just stating the facts and venting about what is reality in our world today. Please don’t get depressed from all of this; instead LIVE each day and tell those you love… that you love them. Help a stranger; that same stranger may help you someday. Don’t think about donating to or volunteering for a reputable cause… DO IT!!

What is grand about this video is we can all witness the late and great Eric Carr playing the drums. Now that’s NOT cheese or sugar-free cola at all. I hope you can take in the lyrics and enjoy this music video. Metal be thy name. – Stone

Superstars Of Classic Rock Honor The Music And Legacy Of The Doors – Feat. Members of Deep Purple, Foreigner, Yes, Rainbow, Mountain, Moody Blues, ELP And Others!

The Doors - A Classic Rock Salute To - promo cover pic - 2014

Featuring Todd Rundgren, Ian Gillan, Edgar Winter, Steve Morse, David Johansen, Larry Coryell, Mark Farner, Patrick Moraz, Mick Box, Keith Emerson, Lou Gramm, Leslie West, Thijs Van Leer, Steve Cropper, Rick Wakeman, Roye Albrighton, Nik Turner, Billy Sherwood, Steve Hillage, Zoot Horn Rollo and Others!

______________________________

Los Angeles, CA – A star-studded syndicate of rock virtuosos have gathered together to pay tribute to one of the best-loved and most influential bands of all-time, The Doors, on a new CD release titled Light My Fire – A Classic Rock Salute To The Doors, to be released by Purple Pyramid Records on June 24th! Produced by the extraordinarily talented Billy Sherwood, the album features brand new interpretations of classic Doors cuts that defined an entire generation, songs such as “Light My Fire,” “Riders On The Storm,” “Break On Through (To The Other Side),” “Love Her Madly,” “L.A. Woman,” “People Are Strange,” and lots more!

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear some of The Doors’ peers and prodigies tackle these seminal songs. Not one but TWO members of the quintessential prog rock band Yes, keyboard wizard Rick Wakeman and lead guitarist Steve Howe, joined Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan on the signature song, “Light My Fire,” which as Wakeman explains, “has always been one of those iconic tracks that keyboard players listen to because of the fact that there are so few tracks with keyboard/organ solos on them compared to our six-stringed buddies. It’s also a solo area that is totally open to interpretation so whatever you do is not comparable to the original, so it was an absolute joy to do.” Howe likewise enthused, “I was delighted to play on this album as The Doors were a band I heard a lot, as everywhere I went in the late ‘60s their music was playing, at friend’s, in restaurants, gigs & bars throughout London. I’m sure I saw them play at Middle Earth, a then hip club. Then, when the reissue more recently came out, I got totally back into their music, especially ‘Light My Fire.’”

The Doors - A Classic Rock Salute To - promo cover pic - 2014

Another keyboard legend, Geoff Downes, likewise extolled the genius of Doors’ organist Ray Manzarek saying, “It was a real privilege to be asked to participate in this project. Ray Manzarek was one of the pioneers of keyboard playing in rock music and had a major influence on me and many others. His style was totally unique, and an integral element into what made The Doors sound the way they did.”

Meanwhile, renegade guitarist Steve Morse, of Dixie Dregs fame, recollects that The Doors were “a soundtrack, literally, for some of the most memorable times, good and bad, that I experienced as a young teen. Like many of my favorites, they were adventurous, improvising, unafraid of what the media might say and all with a sort of lyrical freedom that still stands up today.”

The Cars’ lead axeman Elliot Easton proclaims, “I had a wonderful time reinterpreting ‘Spanish Caravan,’” a song Easton found both “challenging and very rewarding!” And jazz fusion Larry Coryell concludes, “The Doors were the unofficial representatives to the world for LA, not ‘Los Angeles,’ but ‘LA.’ Their sound – raunchy, cluttered, sassy, leering, kind of mean, and always horny was the sound of LA/Los Angeles itself. How many times circa ‘65-66 did my first wife Julie and I drive through LA on the freeway listening to, say, ‘Love Me Two Times,’ and think that The Doors were the sound of LA just as clearly as Thelonious Monk was the sound of NYC.”

That sound continues to reverberate outward through both space and time, touching each new generation around the globe and keeping The Doors’ flame burning brighter than ever! Producer Billy Sherwood sums it up when he declares, “The Doors’ music will live on forever, and it’s my hope that we’ve paid tribute to the band in the highest way possible.”
