Meat Loaf, Rock Music Legend. Meat Loaf, one brilliant Rock Music vocalist. Meat Loaf… one fine ghost hunter. You read that correctly – a ghost hunter! Two of my biggest loves in all of life collided tonight… ghost hunting and Rock and Roll. (Of course my #1 love in life are my wife, daughters and dad). Meat Loaf was the guest ghost hunter on the newest episode of Ghost Hunters, this episode, #515, aired tonight on the SyFy Channel, September 30, 2009. What an episode of Ghost Hunters it was… probably one of the best episodes I have seen of Ghost Hunters too. I have been a fan of Meat Loaf since I was a kid in the late 1970’s and a fan of Ghost Hunters ever since it first aired. Let me say this… Meat Loaf is as emotional a Ghost Hunter as he is an emotional Rock singer. Really. Meat Loaf added not just his celebrity to this new episode of Ghost Hunters, he added credibility to the entire investigation alongside Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson (founders of T.A.P.S. – The Atlantic Paranormal Society) plus their entire team. Meat Loaf did not present himself as a world renowned Rock Star, no way. Instead, the Meat Loaf that appeared on Ghost Hunters was a regular guy, someone who is obviously grounded with life around him.
Meat Loaf met up with the Ghost Hunters team, on a private island – Thousand Islands New York, Isles of Pines. The house that the Ghost Hunters team and Meat Loaf investigated was deemed to be haunted by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, based on the results of the ghost investigation. Meat Loaf, during the investigation, was not only completely thrilled to be a part of the Ghost Hunter team, he also displayed nerves of steel as he communicated with an unseen spirit! With the use of a K2 meter, (a battery operated device that lights up when a spirit prompts it, in essence, a spirit will answer to direct questions by lighting up the K2 meter), Meat Loaf had one damn cool conversation with both a female and male spirit! Meat Loaf also asked the spirit(s) to move his water bottle from a bathroom window sill. Meat Loaf, along with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, exited this bathroom location… upon returning to this bathroom, the water bottle was moved… to the back of the toilet! Very spooky, very cool – way to ghost hunt Meat Loaf!
I am a believer in the after life, ghosts are a major part of this belief for me. With that stated, you really do not have to be a believer to enjoy Ghost Hunters… it is entertaining as hell. Plus, if you are a fan of Meat Loaf, this is one offbeat appearance that Meat Loaf himself will find hard to top. As I watched this episode tonight, all I could think was how cool and lucky this Ghost Hunter team is – to have a living Rock Legend like Meat Loaf join them on this investigation. Metal truth be told, Meat Loaf is so convincing as a ghost hunter, that SyFy should most certainly consider having him appear again on another episode of Ghost Hunters. How about Meat Loaf having his very own ghost hunting reality show? I already have the title for this show – Meat Loaf Investigates. Aw, heck, I don’t want to get ahead of myself here… I’m just too damned excited from it all.
In Metal closing, what would this post be without my mentioning my favorite Meat Loaf album of all time? Bat Out Of Hell, released on October 21, 1977. An undisputed, Classic Rock gem of an album, in my Metal opinion. Just about anyone I have ever known, has owned this album… whether it be on (gulp) 8 track, vinyl, cassette or CD. With the song writing genius of Jim Steinman, Meat Loaf and only Meat Loaf, could ever sing the songs from Bat Out Of Hell with such Rock emotional enormity. What am I saying, any of the Meat Loaf albums could never sound as Rock prolific if sung by another vocalist… I include the songs Meat Loaf sang for Ted Nugent on the Free For All album as well. My favorite song from the Bat Out Of Hell album is, without hesitation, You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night). My favorite Meat Loaf song ever, is – Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through – from the 1993 album Bat Out Of Hell ll: Back Into Hell. I could easily write a million words describing how so many Meat Loaf songs have inspired me and picked me up when I needed it most during my life. I always look forward to Wednesday nights due to Ghost Hunters on SyFy… Meat Loaf just made it light years better than I ever expected tonight, for me.

Today I embarked on a very short trip to Waldenbooks, at a local mall. I was informed last night, while purchasing the book “Pocono Ghosts Legends And Lore Book Two”, (at Waldenbooks), that the author would be at the store to sign any and/or all of his books, on Saturday, August 29,… that author being Charles J. Adams III. To say I was excited to hear this news is a heavy duty understatement. It is no secret, that I do believe in ghosts, my very own personal experiences with the paranormal and anxious spirits have made me a believer going back to 1985. With that said, watching reality television series such as Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Ghost Adventures, Destination Truth, Paranormal State, Most Haunted and Monster Quest are a sheer delicacy of information and entertainment for me. I whole heartedly agree with the painstaking task of always wanting/needing to debunk a haunted location or story, before a declaration of any said location or object is deemed to be truly haunted. With this mindset, this is why I embrace the books written by Charles J. Adams III, for he states each case as it is presented to him, with all facts and history being double checked. Debunking a haunting or haunted location is this authors first task at hand, so in the end, if Charles J. Adams III actually states a location or object to be haunted… I will believe him. Charles J. Adams III will end many stories in his books without there being a true answer, yet the facts and debunking are clearly checked over.
Meeting Charles J. Adams III today was a tremendous thrill, to shake hands with a true professional at researching Ghost Stories and the paranormal is not something I get to do everyday. Charles J. Adams III is without question, a highly respected individual in the great state of Pennsylvania, his credentials are built on integrity, volunteerism and good will, with impressive knowledge and longevity in the field of Ghost Hunting. (I base this statement on the numerous books he has written and the undisputed background information I have read on him). Charles J. Adams III was extremely gracious to me today, answering every question I had for him. I spent a good twenty minutes or so talking to him, the points he made and answers to my queries are highly appreciated by me. I told him during our conversation, that I could easily carry on our discussion about ghosts, non stop, until next Friday… without eating. (That is how much I appreciate an encounter with such a world renowned expert on the paranormal). The insights and comments that Charles J. Adams III revealed to me today I will tuck away in my mind files for a lifetime. Thank you, Charles J. Adams III for being such a fine gentleman today.
Charles J. Adams III was accompanied today with Mark Albright, a paranormal investigator and fine cordial gentleman himself. Mark’s comments were very much appreciated as well. I did buy the brand new book written by Charles J. Adams III, released today, titled “Eastern Pennsylvania Ghost Files – Updated!” I cannot wait to read this book thoroughly… then reread it again! Mark Albright wrote the preface for this new book… I thank both of these gentlemen for signing a copy for me. I highly endorse, without any reservations, the fine Ghost Hunting books written by Charles J. Adams III… seasoned believers need to get their hands on them and skeptics should find the debunking, history researching and fact finding to be quite impressive on the part of this ethical author. The research, books and findings that Charles J. Adams III accomplishes are incredibly important in advancing the field of ghost and paranormal studies.
I am sure, I am not the only person out there who is hooked on the reality television series called – “Ghost Hunters.” (Well I know for certain I am not the only person, for my wife is just as hooked on this show as me). Jason and Grant (the founders of “T.A.P.S.” short for The Atlantic Paranormal Society”) are definitely the only two people that do this gig on reality t.v., that never panic or run scared from things that go bump in the night. This is why I do give Jason and Grant credit, they stare down the shadow, mist, moving object, breaking object and unexplained noises/voices in the dark of night. Plus, Jason and Grant always try to debunk whatever ghostly situation they get themselves into. That is so key, that is what separates the truths from the myths. It is so great, when Wednesday nights come around, my wife and I will plant ourselves down and watch the reruns of “Ghost Hunters” that air right before the new episode. (Just in case you are unfamiliar with this show, it is on the Sci-Fi Channel). Just to give credit where it is due, the lead investigator for the “Ghost Hunters International” team, Brian, he as well does not back down from any spooky situations either. “Ghost Hunters International” is a welcomed spinoff from “Ghost Hunters”, us ghost show buffs cannot get enough spooky time.
It is an obvious Metal music marriage, the paranormal being put to lyrics in Metal songs. Any King Diamond album supports this statement, that is for certain. Horror and the paranormal rules the Metal world’s lyrics with it’s mystery, shock, and imagery. This to me, is one of the great attributes to Metal music, the paranormal and horror has given personality and life to throngs of Metal bands as: Alice Cooper, Misfits, Kiss (with makeup), Lordi, Rob Zombie, Slipknot, Danzig, W.A.S.P., Cannibal Corpse and of course, King Diamond again. The list could go on and on, regarding which Metal bands represent the horror and paranormal subjects best.
