KREATOR – German thrash kings KREATOR have posted a first trailer for their upcoming live DVD Dying Alive (OUT: August 30, 2013 – Europe / September 2, 2013 – UK / September 3, 2013 – US).

The DVD/Blu Ray features the band’s sold out homecoming show in Oberhausen, Germany on December 22, 2012 after an extensive 45 day European tour in support of their highly successful album Phantom Antichrist. The packed and sweat driven show was filmed by 24 cameras as well as guitar and even mosh pit cams.

The DVD/Blu Ray contains the show, a behind the scenes documentary as well as video clips. Approximate total running time: 115 minutes.

Our fans were totally brutalized and went wild as you will hear on this new EP,” he continued. “‘The Lord Of Steel Live’ is a thank you to our amazing fans; it will forever immortalize this tour and those who attended it.”

The album will be mixed and mastered at MANOWAR’s own studios Hell and Haus Wahnfried by Joey DeMaio personally with long time MANOWAR engineer Dirk Kloiber.

‘The Lord Of Steel Live’ will be released digitally as an iTunes exclusive worldwide on July 9, 2013 and on CD in retail and through www.thekingdomofsteel.com on August 16, 2013.

With food, beer and America at the forefront, it only makes sense guitar player/vocalist Christian Gordy and drummer Taryn Waldman would meet at Gordy’s 2011 July 4th cookout in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Waldman, a former Hooter’s waitress turned big time commercial film editor, and Gordy, a one-legged bartender/artist/BBQ enthusiast were an oddball couple for NY’s heavily styled Metal scene. The duo began rapidly banging out monolithic snail-paced riffs that could party as much as they could crush. BLACKOUT — referring to blackout drunk, the absence of light, or a mobster hit on an entire family — was the only appropriate title for the band.

With a three-song demo recorded at the now defunct Headgear Studios in the bag, Waldman set out on the task of stalking and acquiring drum wizard Justin Sherrel for the bass position. The sound filled out and quickly grew like Chuck Berry’s mustache. Now with Sherrel’s nitty-gritty, rhythm-heavy mud beneath an electrical tide of riffs and explosions, the mighty river of sludge was primed to lurch forward.

In November 2012 BLACKOUT recorded their debut LP, We Are Here, at Vacation Island studio with engineer/producer Rob Laakso (Diamond Nights, Swirlies, Kurt Vile). It’s a six-song relentless banger from beginning to end:  no interludes or acoustic wankery. Fittingly described as “thick, riff-led heavy psych that blends Sleep‘s stoner heyday and classic Melvins stomp with a touch of Rob Crow‘s vocal compression in Goblin Cock,” by The Obelisk in a recent live review, the band is ready for a full-fledged takeover. BLACKOUT will soon be knocking on your door like a hairy, black clad Jehovah’s Witness who wants to smoke you out and listen to Sabbath records.

Until then, rape your speakers with the band’s foundation-crumbling behemoth of a three-track album sampler, currently streaming at their official BandCamp page at THIS LOCATION.

In related news, the trio will be bringing their bottom-heavy audio pillage to the stage this Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Acheron in their hometown of Brooklyn. NIGHT DEMON – They’re from California. They’re old school. They’re Metal. They’re called Night Demon. The prolific Metal label known as Shadow Kingdom Records will be releasing Night Demon’s S/T EP on August 6th; best you pick up this Metal offering from Night Demon cause it’s invitingly raw, loud, and legit True Metal through and through!

From riffage on The Chalice that’s reminiscent of the legendary Scorpions classic cut The Zoo, to an underground Metal atmosphere of yesteryear throughout, Night Demon delivers the Metal goods! It’s honestly unfortunate that this is an EP and not an album of 12 songs. Stone wants more Night Demon! Now! Whoa.

Ritual reminds me that old school Speed Metal is back and the Traditional Heavy Metal spirit, musicianship, vocals and songwriting of Night Demon cannot be overlooked; not by any of my fellow Metal brethren anyways. Fans of old school Metal, NWOBHM, (early) Iron Maiden, (early) Saxon, Witch Cross, Satan, Obsession, Angel Witch, Sinister Realm and of course, Raven, are all in for a remarkable Metal surprise with Night Demon. This trio of talented Metalheads surprised the hell out of me! Metal be thy name.
