Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, punk metal with tags chemistry of consciousness, joel grind, Metal, metal albums 2013, metal odyssey, Punk Metal, Thrash Metal, toxic holocaust on August 29, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Today Portland punk metal assailants, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, disclose the official track listing of their forthcoming Chemistry of Consciousness full-length. Delivering 11 tracks of riotous animosity,Chemistry Of Consciousness was recorded by the band, mixed with Kurt Ballou (Converge) at GodCity Studio and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.

A perfect marriage of punk angst and metal guitar hooks, Chemistry Of Consciousness is the sound of Discharge on speed, Slayer with a punk rock chip on its shoulder, The Exploited on a Metallica overdose. TOXIC HOLOCAUST quite literally implode under the weight of their own debaucherous heaviness. Earnest, fast and maniacally catchy, Joel Grind and company have crafted what is inarguably their most crushing album of their career. Recommended for devout followers of Municipal Waste, DRI, Sodom, Midnight, GBH and the like.

Check out the Chemistry of Consciousness album trailer below:

ATLANTEAN KODEX – German Epic Metal Kings Unveil Song From Anticipated New LP At Revolver

Posted in epic metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags atlantean Kodex, epic metal, Metal, metal albums 2013, Metal News, metal odyssey, true metal on August 28, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

As Germany’s heroes of true heavy metal, ATLANTEAN KODEX, prepare to proudly unveil their sophomore LP, The White Goddess (A Grammar Of Poetic Myth), today the first full single from the epic new opus is playing at Revolver Magazine; the mammoth eleven-minute “Sol Invictus (With Faith and Fire).”

Founding guitarist Manuel Trummer states of the magnificent tune: “‘Sol Invictus’ takes you on a trip through the dark underbelly of European folklore to a realm of fertility cults, fire-worship and corn-demons, older than Bethlehem and Babylon, older than dreaming Sumer and mankind itself. Now grab a beer, turn the volume to 11 and bang your head like a man possessed.”

Arm yourself and meet us for the ceremonial unleashing of the mighty “Sol Invictus (With Faith and Fire)” at Revolver HERE:

http://www.revolvermag.com/news/exclusive-atlantean-kodex-premiere-new-song-sol-invictus.html

The band has also compiled a shortened/edited video for “Sol Invictus,” which can be seen below:

The White Goddess (A Grammar Of Poetic Myth) will see stateside release on CD on October 1st, with the mammoth 2xLP version to follow shortly after. Outside of North America, Germany’s Ván Records will disburse the vinyl edition while Italy’s Cruz Del Sur will handle the CD release.

Self-described as falling somewhere between Twilight of the Gods-era Bathory, early Ross The Boss-era Manowar and other classic US bands like Fates Warning, Cirith Ungol and Warlord, ATLANTEAN KODEX retains a singular modernity and heaviness via their incredible production and recording technique, and through singer Markus Becker, who has the naturally blessed pipes to rival the best heavy metal vocalists past or present. There is no irony or pretense going on in their music; ATLANTEAN KODEX plays deeply reverent and devoted metal with an emphasis on superior, timeless songcraft. Continuing on 2010’s universally praised The Golden Bough, ATLANTEAN KODEX has built upon their sound to achieve an album like no other released in 2013.

Many bands and labels lay claim to the word “epic” to describe a particular band’s sound but on The White Goddess, their name becomes synonymous with the term in a way very bands ever manage. Drawing from traditional heavy metal, doom and Norse metal influences, The White Goddess achieves the bands strongest songwriting, lyrics, vocal performance and production yet, already nearly without equal on their previous LP.

Stay tuned for further international release and tour updates on ATLANTEAN KODEX in the coming weeks.

EPYSODE – New Album “Fantasmagoria” To Be Released On October 11th!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags epysode, epysode fantasmagoria, Metal, metal albums 2013, metal concept albums, Metal News, metal odyssey on August 24, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

The dark progressive/power metal project EPYSODE returns with its sophomore album Fantasmagoria on October 11th.

The successor to “Obsessions” (2011) was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen studio in Denmark (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, Amaranthe a.m.m.)

Beside band leader Samuel Arkan, the following vocalists and musicians contributed to “Fantasmagoria”:

Tom S. Englund (Evergrey)

Henning Basse (Melium, Uli Jon Roth)

Ida Haukland (Triosphere)

Matt Marinelli (Borealis)

Tezzi Persson (Between The Silence)

Mike LePond (Symphony X)

Léo Margarit (Pain Of Salvation)

Julien Spreutels (Ethernity)

Simone Mularoni (DGM)

The quite unusual thing is that all these guests came to the Noise Factory studio (Belgium) to track down their parts. Nobody recorded his/her parts at home, like with some many other projects.

“I wanted the whole thing to get a real “band” feeling”, Arkan says. “Therefore having all vocalists and musicians here was very important to me. We got to know each other better and better while spending time together. The new material sounds very fresh, dark, heavy, modern and “true” with “straight in the face” guitar riffs, intense voices and melodies, massive work on progressive atmospheres and orchestral parts. All the artists who participated in this album gave their soul to it, gave their best, they travelled deeper into sensitivity and sincerity. That’s probably the best words which define “Fantasmagoria”… sincerity & spontaneity ! This album comes from the heart of each musician and vocalist who worked on it, and you can feel it when you listen to this new EPYSODE album.”

Fantasmagoria – Track Listing:

01. File-41-80-2

02. The Arch

03. Morning Rose

04. Venom

05. The Black Parade

06. T.H.O.R.N.S.

07. Garden Of Exile

08. Raven’s Curse

09. Living Fortress

10. Fantasmagoria

11. The Inheritance

12. Now And Forever

13. Forgotten Symphony

14. Unreal

GENERATION KILL – SIGNS WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal, thrash metal bands with tags generation kill, metal albums 2013, Metal News, Thrash Metal, thrash metal bands on August 23, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of New York City-based thrashers GENERATION KILL, headed by EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes.

Together with Rob Moschetti (ex-PRO-PAIN / M.O.D.) on bass & backing vocals, dual lead guitarists Jason Trenzcer (ex-MUTILATION) & Jason Velez, and James DeMaria (ex- MERAUDER) on drums, GENERATION KILL has completed work with producer Zeuss (HATEBREED, AGNOSTIC FRONT, MUNICIPAL WASTE) on their second studio album (and follow-up to 2011’s Red, White And Blood) to be released later this year.

Culling the band name from the title of the 2004 book (also a HBO mini-series) written by Rolling Stone journalist Evan Wright, GENERATION KILL vocalist Rob Dukes comments on the band’s time in the studio & the recent worldwide signing:

“We all reached down and made a good record. Zeuss really helped us bring out things in all of us we didn’t know we had. We fought, we argued, and in the end, each of us rose up to the challenge and wrote good fucking songs. I want to thank everyone at Nuclear Blast for having GENERATION KILL become part of the greatest metal family.”

ROB DUKES

Producer Zeuss adds: “This album is not an EXODUS clone. This is an album of music where five guys got together and explored our own roots of music, the records we grew up listening to and [then] wrote songs paying homage to what we love.”

Nuclear Blast A&R Manager Jaap Wagemaker weighs in on GENERATION KILL & their addition to the label roster:

“With the release of their debut, Red, White And Blood, we knew that something special was brewing in New York! The band is playing a different kind of thrash metal – not just straight in-your-face but also elements from hardcore and alternative are used, not only in the music, but also in the vocals. Rob is mostly known for his aggressive vocal style in EXODUS; you will be very surprised to hear a different side from him. Two months ago, we had the chance to see the band play as support for HEATHEN. We were blown away by the sheer live power of this outfit. All members have a lot of experience playing in New York and are longtime friends. They really know their music and it shows. We at Nuclear Blast are very impressed by the new tracks and are very pleased to welcome GENERATION KILL as new members to the Nuclear family. GENERATION KILL are here to destroy and leave no prisoners behind!”

BRAND NEW MACHINE “The Devil Made Me Do It” – A Supercharged Hard Rock Debut!

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock albums, hard rock bands, Heavy Metal, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags brand new machine, Hard Rock, hard rock albums 2013, hard rock bands, metal odyssey, the devil made me do it on August 21, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

4.5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

BRAND NEW MACHINE – Dallas Texas is home to the revved up BRAND NEW MACHINE; and they’ve released their supercharged debut album, The Devil Made Me Do It, this past July 23rd, via Epochal Artist Records. What a celebration of Hard Rock this album is! As BRAND NEW MACHINE calls it: Straight Up American Hard Rock. NO Hard Rock, Arena Rock, 80’s Hard Rock, Sleaze Rock or Glam Rock fan out there should ignore this debut from BRAND NEW MACHINE!! This is a whiz-bang MUST of 2013!

With 11 electrifying songs that I’ve been fixated on from this debut album, Brantly Thompson will no doubt lead his band to the Hard Rockin’ promised land. Instantly memorable songs like I hear on this album just don’t fall from the sky; The Devil Made Me Do It is an album that has given the American Hard Rock scene a thrilling legitimacy once again! In other words, BRAND NEW MACHINE isn’t trying to carbon-copy the Modern-sounding status quo we’ve all been drowned in for the last several years.

Here And Gone Today, Living For Another Day and Blackout Overdose are (just) three of many excellent songs that showcase the uncommon Hard Rockin’ ride that will no doubt make BRAND NEW MACHINE a band to know all around the planet. A BIG guitar sound experience, coupled with a non-stop POUNDING rhythm section only highlights the vigorous vocals of Brantly Thompson. WOW and WHOA!!

I honestly wish BRAND NEW MACHINE was around many years ago and had a back catalog of albums to ROCK OUT to. It’s okay though, cause I can now look forward to this band in keeping their American Hard Rockin’ magic flowing for (hopefully) many, many more years to come! Metal be thy name.

CLERIC – Street Date Of Texas Death Horde’s Debut LP Confirmed

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags cleric, cleric gratum inferno, Death Metal, death metal albums 2013, metal albums 2013, Metal News, metal odyssey on August 20, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Dallas Death Metal battalion CLERIC will crush the weak with their disparaging debut LP, Gratum Inferno, through their local cohorts at independent waxmongers Tofu Carnage Records this fall; the label now confirming the street date for the record as September 26th.

Formed by members of Kill the Client, Baring Teeth, and Tyrannosorceress, CLERIC fuses their old-school Death Metal aggressive tendencies here into a relentless attack, which their Gratum Inferno LP attempts to capture in full-force. Recorded by Garry Brents (Kill The Client, Phobia, Noisear) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Nails, Sleep), Gratum Inferno boasts nearly a half-hour of grating, Stockholm-bred but Americanized death through seven hymns of debauchery, bizarre, haunting and horror-soundtrack elements permeating from deep within its hellish core.

The platter is being pressed on 200-gram, translucent yellow wax with blood-red and milky clear splatter and features heavyweight spot-varnish printed jackets, gold foil-stamped inner-sleeve graphics, was mastered at 45rpm for superior sound quality, and bears insane cover art masterminded by Jason Barnett (Noothgrush, etc.).

With its official physical release upon us, Decibel Magazine is currently streaming Intermediate Level Hard-Core, the latest covers EP from splatterthrash death dealers GHOUL, in its entirety!

Featuring five tracks of gristly hardcore/punk reverence, Intermediate Level Hard-Coreoffers GHOULified versions of tunes from GWAR, Fearless Iranians From Hell, Willful Neglect, N.O.T.A, and Dayglo Abortions. Said Decibel of the tunes on deck, “Intermediate Level Hard-Core makes us want to run through a cemetery, skateboard in hand, climb a fence, and rage the curb blocks on the other side.” Adds Speaker Creatures, “…don’t be an idiot and miss out on this EP. I’ve already listened to it 94 times in two days and will continue to till someone makes me listen to something else.”

Posted in Black Metal, black metal bands, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags Black Metal, black metal bands, Metal, metal albums 2014, Metal News, new venom album 2014, venom on August 17, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

As reported on the Official Venom Website:

Venom are currently in the studio adding the final touches to their new album. The album is being scheduled for release through UMG [Spinefarm Records] in early 2014. [ we will bring more information and album / song titles soon ]

Dante commented: “The new songs are sounding amazing, the whole album has a great feel. I’d say the strength of this band comes from our determination to create great music, and that comes from forward thinking, new ideas and fresh challenges”.

Cronos continued: “I believe this is Venom at it’s best, the song writing keeps getting better, and the live shows are tighter and heavier than ever. It’s clear to me now that all of the line up changes this band has been through over the years, has been an inspiring journey to find the right band of warriors. Venom continue to keep growing stronger, and unstoppable”.

“V. E. N. O. Fucking M. ~ Lay Down Your Souls”.
