OVERCHARGE – Streaming “Nothing On The Way”; New Album “Accelerate” Releases On September 30th

Overcharge - promo band pic - 2014 - #07902

Italian Punk Rockin’ Speed Metallers, OVERCHARGE, have posted a brand new track off their upcoming new album, Accelerate. The song, Nothing on the Way, is now streaming below:

OVERCHARAGE is in fact Punk Rock, Rock ‘n Roll, and Speed Metal rolled up into one.  The Italians sound like a drunken fist fight between MOTORHEAD and Kill ’em All-era METALLICA, if everyone involved was gargling broken glass and DISCHARAGE was playing on the jukebox. It’s nothing less than adrenaline-fueled, mohawked mayhem!

Featuring a member of label mates OMNIVORE, OVERCHARGE wear their influences on their tattoo sleeves, but don’t sound overly beholden to any one of them.  Like all good Rock ‘n Roll, songs and riffs matter more here than emulating a specific set of heroes. Accelerate will be the first full-length from these maniacs.

Accelerate is set for worldwide release on September 30 via Unspeakable Axe Records.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST – Portland Punk Metal Day-Ruiners Join Black Tusk For A European Takeover

Toxic Holocaust - Black Tusk - European Tour - 2014 - promo flyer

Portland Punk Metal day-ruiners, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, will join forces with Savannah, Georgia sludge warriors/labelmates, Black Tusk, for a European campaign of live destruction this Summer. The mayhem begins in Denmark where the trio will systematically devastate Copenhagen before joining team Black Tusk, along with Hamburg doom-sludge quartet Downfall Of Gaia, to ravage eight cities through Germany, Belgium and France including an appearance at this year’s Hellfest.

Crowned, “…one of thrash’s most exciting modern bands,” by Loudwire, “…the aural equivalent of a cobra with a chest tattoo of a double helix and syringes for fangs getting ready to strike amidst two flesh-like walls of anxious, bloodshot eyes…,” by MetalSucks, ” “a bottled up riot distilled into musical form,” by Metal Injection, ” and, “….hands down one of the coolest crossover albums put to tape,” by Apeshit, Chemistry Of Consciousness continues to dehydrate the masses with a platter that pays tribute to the likes of Anti-Cimex, Warfare, Infernal Majesty, GBH, Discharge, Autopsy and Chaos UK without replicating them. The band appeared on the cover of Decibel’s December 2013 issue and earned the #12 position on the magazine’s Top 40 Albums of 2013. Additionally, TOXIC HOLOCAUST ranked in at #5 on Noisecreep’s 10 Best Vinyl Releases of 2013.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST:

6/13/2104 Copenhell – Copenhagen, DK
w/ Black Tusk, Downfall Of Gaia
6/14/2104 Underground – Köln, DE

TOXIC HOLOCAUST mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal into his ideal band. Like his influences – Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones – TOXIC HOLOCAUST offers up blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world wrapped in a DIY attitude.

GRAVE ROBBER – Confirmed For Warriors Of Metal Fest VII Pre-Fest Showcase

Grave Robber - promo live photo - 2013 - #6767

January 23, 2014  Cincinnati, Ohio – The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is very excited to announce that Fort Wayne, Indiana’s premier Horror Punk band GRAVE ROBBER has gladly accepted the unenviable challenge of being the “show closer” and final performer for the Pre-Fest Showcase of the Warriors Of Metal Fest VII, which will take place at O’Shecky’s LIVE Bar & Grill on Thursday, June 26 in Columbus, Ohio.

Vocalist Wretched states:  “We are honored and excited to have been invited by Datis to play the Warriors Of Metal Pre-fest and our second time on the O’Shecky’s stage. As a theatrical horror punk band, we have always had utmost respect for all things metal and have always included touches of metal in our artistic vision of horror. In fact, similar to The Misfits, we have found that quite a large percentage of our fanbase are straight up metalheads who hate punk, but somehow find common ground with Grave Robber and love what we do. We are greatly looking forward to playing way too loud, way too fast, way too aggressive and making some friends and comrades in aggressive musical endeavors. Thank you again, Datis from the bottom of our reanimated, undead hearts. Be afraid, be very afraid!”

Believe the hype with the official music video for GRAVE ROBBER’s “Altered States,” now playing below:

Tankcrimes Records is pleased to welcome BAT to their roster of audio decadence. An unholy union of Municipal Waste guitarist Ryan Waste on bass/vocals, former DRI drummer Felix Griffin and Volture guitarist Nick Poulos, the Virginia/Texas punk metal marauders invoke the spirits of Venom, Hellhammer, Motörhead and Discharge with their Primitive Age demo EP. Featuring five tracks of filthy, fuck-all, debauchery, Primitive Age is a primal outpouring of molten metal riffs, confrontational Kill ‘Em All angst and enough vocal venom to level a nation.

The EP is currently streaming in full for your mischievous listening pleasures at Metal Injection HERE.

Bat - band publicity pic - 2013 - B&W - #1061

BAT was forged in fire when Ryan Waste met Griffin in Austin at a Municipal Waste gig in 2007. Sharing the same musical tastes and metal/punk backgrounds, the two immediately hit it off. Griffin hadn’t performed with DRI since the late eighties and itched to play again. “We eventually spoke of doing a project together,” relays Ryan. “Originally I was going to play all the guitars, bass and vocals and it would be a studio thing. We sat on this idea for years and humored it every time I’d pass through Texas. It seemed too exciting to not make this a real live band so I asked Nick from our current heavy metal band Volture if he wanted on board as a permanent guitarist and it was a done deal. I would have my hands full singing and playing bass as it was.” BAT, which was the original working title before Volture, seemed to suite the style they were going for so it stuck. “Nick and I cooked up a few raw demo songs, I laid down some basic garage band drums and we sent the tracks to Felix. With Felix living in Austin and Nick and I in Richmond, Virginia, it had to be arranged like that to start. Over this last summer Felix flew in town for a week and we banged out those songs with live drums and wrote a couple more on the fly. With only a few practices under our belts we recorded all the music in one day on reel-to-reel analog tape. It was a challenge to not over analyze and nail down all live takes. It was indeed primitive. We wanted a raw sound to begin with and this turned out to be the ultimate way to achieve it.”

The Primitive Age EP is available as a “Pay-What-You-Want-Including-Free” download TODAY at the official BAT BandCamp page HERE. Tankcrimes is also offering a “Primitive Pack” preorder bundle which includes a double sided T-shirt, embroidered patch, die-cut sticker and cassette tape all for a thrifty $20 plus shipping. Nab your bundle today at THIS LOCATION.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST – Portland Punk Metal Combatants Complete New Album

Posted in Metal, metal albums, metal bands, metal music, Music, punk metal, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 3, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Toxic Holocaust - Classic Band Logo - Yellow & Black

Portland’s favorite punk metal combatants, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, recently completed the recording of their long-anticipated forthcoming new full-length. Titled Chemistry Of Consciousness, the 12-track beast of an offering was recorded by the band themselves, mixed with friend, Converge guitarist and renowned producer, Kurt Ballou at his own GodCity Studio and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.

Elaborates TOXIC founder Joel Grind, he of “spewed blasphemies and death-machine guitar tones” (Revolver): “I’m excited to announce that the new TOXIC HOLOCAUST record has been completed. We recorded it ourselves like we did last time but this time around we had our friend Kurt Ballou mix. It’s sounding so crushing! Lots and lots of distortion! Musically I went into a more punky territory than the last record while still maintaining the TOXIC HOLOCAUST sound. I look forward to everyone hearing it!”

RABBITS – Ruins Your Day With New Video, Drops “Straight Edge/Wasted” Flexi

Posted in Metal, metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on December 8, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Rabbits - Bites Rites - cover promo pic!

Portland’s caecothrophic collective RABBITS have excreted their very first hare-raising video to help ruin your day, constructed for the rampant skronking riffage of Fight Right, the second track off from their recently birthed Bites Rites LP. The cinematic mayhem was completed by Wes Johnson of Good to Die Productions — the film team responsible for label mates Deadkill’s “Oh God Help You” video — utilizing early live footage shot by the fourth Rabbit Daniel Abell and RABBITS’ own warped “us-versus-them” concept.

Unleash the visual chaos of “Fight Right” and more from the RABBITS vermin RIGHT HERE.

For this year’s Record Store Day these racket practitioners dropped a two-song flexi postcard thing called Flexihead, busting out conflicting covers of Minor Threat’s “Straight Edge” and Black Flag’s “Wasted” in the relentlessly blaring noise-infested RABBITS rage. Portland Mercury’s music editor issued a short blog post, highlighting the hand-written love note from the band stating “Enjoy your desperate attempts to make this thing play.”

TOXIC HOLOCAUST Tune To Be Included In FX Series Sons Of Anarchy

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, punk metal, Punk rock, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal with tags , , , , , on November 14, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

The song Bitch from punk metal derelicts TOXIC HOLOCAUST will be clawing its way through your speakers during next week’s episode of FX drama series Sons of Anarchy (season 5; episode 11).

Comments TOXIC band leader Joel Grind: “We are all excited to announce the inclusion of our song ‘Bitch’ in the upcoming episode of Sons of Anarchy. All of us are huge fans of the show and this season especially seems to be upping the ante with each episode.”

Tune in to FX on Tuesday, November 20 at 10:00pm EST/PST to check it out.

Sons of Anarchy is based on the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club from a fictional town in California′s Central Valley. The show centers on then-vice president Jackson “Jax” Teller (Charlie Hunnam), who begins questioning the club and himself. Sons of Anarchy premiered in the Fall of 2008 and has since become FX’s highest rated series ever.

“Bitch” comes off TOXIC HOLOCUAST’s mercilessly abrasive Conjure And Command full-length, released via Relapse Records last year. The record, which Revolver praised for its “nuclear reactive riffage and Repo Man punk attitude,” continues to reap critical hails. Conjure And Command is available across several formats including a limited edition, deluxe CD and DVD set that includes a full TOXIC HOLOCAUST live show. The album is available for purchase through Relapse HERE and iTunes HERE. In addition, check out the iTunes bonus track from the record — a cover of Repulsion’s “Helga Lost Her Head” – at the band’s OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE.

Critical Praise:

“…sweetly redolent of thrash, d-beat, and raw sewage, the album simmers with tar-thick riffage, staggering breakdowns, and a corroded dose of self-loathing…” – The Onion’s A.V. Club

“…it’s refreshing to hear a thrash band that is so single-minded about its whirlwind riffs and pastor-baiting lyrics.” – The Washington City Paper

“If The Exploited and Nuclear Assault had a kid, TOXIC HOLOCAUST would take it’s lunch money and toss it in the dumpster.”Hails & Horns

2CENTS – “DRESS TO KILL” DELIVERS RAW, HARDCORE, ATTITUDE LACED METAL!

2CENTS – Originating from Los Angeles, California, 2Cents have blended together a Metal meets Hardcore Punk sound and have done so in a raucous and raw manner, which makes them all the more favorable to my Metal ears. April 20, 2010, is when 2Cents released their 13 song studio album, Dress To Kill, on Eight O Five Records and Fontana Distribution. After just my first listen through of Dress To Kill, I realize 2Cents is like the very rowdy dude that shows up at every keg and house party… and only makes the party better.

If you are to listen to Dress To Kill the way it was meant to be… it really should be listened to F’n LOUD. When played LOUD in the car, passerby’s wearing turtlenecks may find the heavy totality of Dress To Kill, coupled with it’s lyrics, to be rather disruptive. Excellent! 2Cents are double loaded with attitude, with many hints of Punk attitude just for good measure. Excellent! There are always going to be those Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Extreme Bands that won’t give a damn about using profanity in their songs lyrics, 2Cents is just that band. Excellent! Let Metal freedom ring!

Whoever said Rock ‘N’ Roll was supposed to be squeaky clean anyway? Oh, it was probably ABBA. Anyways, 2Cents has one hell of a song that kick starts Dress To Kill off into high F’n gear – Dressed To Kill. It’s the frenetic drumming that opens Dressed To Kill that gets my Metal adrenaline on high, giving way to the Nu Metal meets Rapcore with Hardcore tendencies in-between. Deeply Madly is an extremely heavy song, with Adam O’ Rourke’s shouts overpowering an already powerful rhythm section and blistering guitars.. a thunder stomp, monster of a song.

Wicked By Design is Metal angst all coiled up and bound, then suddenly cut loose to infiltrate and destroy all eardrums, that dare to wear a headset while listening to this song’s extremely heavy outpouring of Metal. The real 2Cents party just gets started with the song Get What?. It’s all about the sheer blitz of heaviness and Hardcore vocals that Get What? translates. Even within all of this song’s extremities, I can still call out this song as standout and most likely a live favorite for 2Cents fans for many years to come.

Choose Your Illusion is so damned heavy and brutal that it probably could tear through a steel door that’s a foot thick. Tear Down Your Reasons is a union of Hardcore and Metal joining forces, creating a blend of Extreme that gets tempered by the memorable and harmonious chorus. This song boasts a powerful and contagious rhythm and tempo that doesn’t let up on it’s fiery attack. The Hollow is an out of control juggernaut in flames that cannot be contained nor controlled… only enjoyed on an almost bizarre level of Metal lovin’ madness. 2Cents knew how to bring Dress To Kill to a close, with The Hollow, it’s Hardcore bursting out at the Metal seams with vicious and extreme muscularity.

Any fan of Metal or even Hard Rock that is looking for a new album release that explodes with ultra revved up heaviness, both in music and vocals, should take a keen Metal liking to 2Cents – Dress To Kill. Some may find listening to Dress To Kill equivalent to opening a six-pack of Metal Music whoop ass… I feel that way. 2Cents incorporates a few Heavy Music genres within it’s core sound, however, they are best summed up as an F’n Heavy Duty, Metal Band. This band is damn good at what they write and play, in my Metal opinion. Add the fact they obviously don’t give a crap about mainstream acceptance only makes 2Cents that much more legit in my Metal mind.
