PSYCHOSOMATIC – California Thrash Metal Crew Announces East Coast US Escaping The Prison Tour 2023

New Releases On The Horizon

Long-running Sacramento, California thrash metal crew PSYCHOSOMATIC announces their first East Coast tour dates in years as they prepare to launch Escaping The Prison Tour 2023 this October.

The upcoming trek marks PSYCHOSOMATIC’s first tour since the release of their crushing seventh LP, The Invisible Prison, which saw release through Nefarious Industries at the height of the pandemic lockdowns to rave reviews but no touring. Escaping The Prison Tour 2023 runs from October 5th through 14th with shows in Atlantic City, Brooklyn, Boston, Cape Cod, Providence, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chesapeake, Richmond, and Raleigh. The band will be joined throughout the run by Chicago-based grinding hardcore outfit and Nefarious Industries labelmates Nequient as well as Boston thrash metal act Black Mass. With more than three decades of touring the US and Canada under their belt, the band has played over a thousand shows canvasing the North American tapestry with the likes of Exodus, Vio-lence, Death Angel, M.O.D., Havok, D.R.I., Fear, Possessed, Arsis, Warbringer, Exmortus, Black Breath, Ghoul, Possessed, Phobia, The Accused, Eat The Turnbuckle, Hammer Fight, Deathwish, Wartorn, Dr. Know, Verbal Abuse, Attitude Adjustment, Hirax, and countless others.

Unloading twelve tracks of classic thrash/crossover shred, PSYCHOSOMATIC’s The Invisible Prison was produced, engineered, and mixed by David Sanchez of Havok at Riffs Or Die Recordings, and mastered by Mark Lewis (Chimaira, Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder) at MRL Studios. The record is completed with art by the band’s founding bassist/vocalist Jeff Salgado, coloring by Vincent Pizarro, layout by Greg Meisenberg, and photography by Michael Alvarez, and includes a cover of “Serial Killer” by Vio-lence.

Unleashing their most audacious offering to date, Sargassus present their new EP, King of the Sun, a monstrous addition to their progressive death metal discography. These four tracks, composed in an intuitive manner in live jamming sessions and recorded in 2023, forge a unique sonic landscape that stands as testament to the band’s unyielding artistic evolution. The members of Sargassus continue to refine their skills weaving intricate, complex musical structures with raw, powerful emotion.

This EP encapsulates the relentless spirit of the genre while offering new layers of depth and complexity, with the songs being all the more atmospheric as the band aims to paint an eerie backdrop to the increased technicality of the songs. Samu Oittinen – the legendary producer responsible for the new EP’s mix and master – made sure to fulfill the band’s vision about organic yet brutal and atmospheric soundscape.

The lyrical themes of the EP heavily draw inspiration from the epic of Lucien, the first ever science fiction story to be told and recorded in history. The EP reflects upon this madness as well as the needless suffering of all involved, with no clear victor to claim the prize in the end.

LIGHTLORN – Release New Track “Dimensionless Blackness”

Cosmic black metal duo LIGHTLORN has unleashed “Dimensionless Blackness,” the newest single from their upcoming full-length debut: At One with the Night Sky.

The third track on the album, “Dimensionless Blackness” is full of contrasting elements. From the bright guitar picking in the intro, which belies the energetic, groove-infested opening riff that follows, to the ups and downs in the song structure, “Dimensionless Blackness” is highly representative of the sound LIGHTLORN has become known for. The lead guitar carries captivating melodies, while a foreboding piano section and an outro replete with strings and brass infuse the song with atmosphere and emotion. The lyrics are sung from the perspective of a supermassive black hole in the center of a galaxy. How it holds the galaxy together while slowly devouring the matter around it.

Thuringian (Germany) doomsters DÉCEMBRE NOR release first new single from new album “Your Sunset | My Sunrise”

Against The Daylight is the first single from the new DÉCEMBRE NOIR album Your Sunset | My Sunrise, which is set to be released on October 13th via Lifeforce Records.

The lyric video was created by Jerkka Perälä / Soft Neon Audiovisual, who is also responsible for the visual works for his own band ATLASES, also in Lifeforce Records.

As for the direction of their new album, DÉCEMBRE NOIR reveal the following: “Your Sunset | My Sunrise” is the cry for inner peace set to music. A heavy heart full of tears, which threatens to plunge its bearer into the abyss at any moment. Even if this means giving up oneself, in the end only the long-awaited silence counts. It is the escape on the wings of addiction from the battlefield of never-ending depression.

The approach of the band from Thuringia, Germany also reaches deep on their fifth full-time album – both lyrically and musically. This is already known from the previous records “The Renaissance Of Hope” (2020), “Autumn Kings” (2018), “Forsaken Earth” (2016) and “A Discouraged Believer” (2014). DÉCEMBRE NOIR act consistently atmospheric, gloomily tuned and open to interpretation. The underlying thoughts, emotions and intentions of the songs of the quintet are not always clearly determinable. And they don’t have to be. For the nuances and forebodings set to music have a special significance in the German band’s playing.

I went to see the mighty and legendary Queensrÿche back on April 6th of this year in Columbus Ohio at the Newport Music Hall. Man, what a show!! The place was jam packed with with a legion of fans! My wife and 2 good friends went with me, making for a good times night of memories.

I’ll add that the one song that made the crowd go absolutely bananas was their classic Jet City Woman. I was thrilled. The band even played my all-time favorite of theirs: Queen of the Reich. This was my third time seeing Queensrÿche, dating back to the late 80’s. This era of the band I’m just as proud of as any. I hope you enjoy the photos I took, I tried my best not being up close as I’d like to have been.

FARSOTH was founded in Sala (Sweden) by Jari Kuusisto in 2020. Shortly thereafter Joakim Mikiver on vocals, Jonas Magnusson on bass, and Kristofer Elemyr on guitar were contacted to join the band. The search for the right drummer turned out to be a more difficult task than expected. Several months later the place was still not filled so Jari decided to contact his good friend Chris Barkensjö (Lik) to help with the drum recording for the album. All said and done, FARSOTH had 9 songs recorded but still no permanent drummer.

In early 2021 William Parkstam was recruited as the band’s permanent drummer. FARSOTH rehearsed for the first time as a full band in Williams’ hometown of Uppsala. Since then, they have released several videos, along with their debut album, The Plague, on all major streaming platforms.

Shortly after the album’s release in late 2022, William decided to leave the band due to other obligations, and Kristofer sadly passed away. William was quickly replaced by Florian Rehn on drums and in early 2023 Johnny Nymark joined the band as their new guitarist. At the beginning of 2023, Swedish record label Black Lion Records reached out to FARSOTH offering the band a record deal. So with a fresh record deal and more than 14 new songs, FARSOTH is looking forward to seeing what 2023 will bring.

Here For None, the new album from Finnish metal powerhouse featuring Janne Wirman (Children Of Bodom) is out now worldwide via Reaper Entertainment!

Here For None heralds a new era. True to the motto, “The king is dead, long live the king,” WARMEN is not only headed towards heavier shores musically due to the band’s updated lineup, but it can also be said with justification that WARMEN is taking on the musical legacy of Wirman’s former band in a spectacular way.


“I will always be Janne from Bodom. That’s okay with me. I’m happy about it and I don’t have to hide my past. I also see that as a positive thing for WARMEN,” Wirman notes of his good reputation and the attention he gets within the metal scene. Kicking off with “Number 12 (Looks Just Like You)”, INTENT deliver a ferocious onslaught of high speed rhythms and thundering percussion. The incessant crushing bass drum hits and heavy rhythms are utterly relentless. Continuing to inject a monumental display of power, “Insight” brings a vicious attack of unceasing riffs, aggressive chugs and menacing vocals. Entering into foreboding realms, “Network Failure” begins with intriguing groove bass lines and rhythmic percussion, before bursting into a full on offensive strike of raging heavy.

About INTENT:
Formed in 2015, the Arizona based INTENT subsequently underwent a number of line-up changes and spent time developing their sound before heading into the live scene. The outfit soon began opening up for bands like OVERKILL, DRI, and HAVOK to name a few. 2018 saw the release of their debut album Vox Populi, and in 2022 the release of Exile showcased the thrashers’ hard work as they cultivated the next era of their sound. The upcoming EP sees the quartet continue on that trajectory.

Second LP “The Crisis As Condition” Nears September Release On Indisciplinarian

Danish/American hyperthrash band TERMINALIST today unleashes a new video for “Mutating Fractures,” the second single from their impending second LP, “The Crisis As Condition”, out in early September on Indisciplinarian.

Just as on their debut album, TERMINALIST teamed up with producer Lasse Ballade, “The Crisis As Condition” recorded and mixed at Ballade Studios in Copenhagen and mastered by V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress) at Woodshed Studios in Germany. Also, the same as the first album, British painter Ryan T. Hancock is again responsible for the unique artwork, and photography is handled by Theis Wilmer Poulsen.

The disturbing video for “Mutating Fractures” was created in cooperation with videographer Johan Von Bülow. TERMINALIST vocalist, lyricist, and guitarist Emil Hansen elaborates on the song theme, stating, “The crises we face affect and worsen each other. Whether we’re talking climate, war, or inequality, these issues each play a part in a larger whole. ‘Mutating Fractures’ is an attempt to convey this message through imagery inspired by the Covid crisis where the crises resemble fractures constantly mutating, presenting new problems along the way. It’s a deeply pessimistic track which, although catchy and riffy, also itself mutates, diverting from the original theme before the last reprise.”
