June 2022, LOS ANGELES –TOOL’s critically-acclaimed, GRAMMY®-Award winning fifth album, Fear Inoculum, arrives as a 3-disc, 180g vinyl release on Aug. 5 via RCA Records.

The collection, which is available for pre-order now (https://store.toolband.com/product/TLLP002), features new artwork from Adam Jones, and is housed in a triple gatefold jacket with an exclusive poster.

Quite possibly the era’s most highly-anticipated album, Fear Inoculum arrived in August of 2019. Debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200, the album earned heaps of critical praise with NPR saying, “Fear Inoculum was worth the 13 year wait,” Revolver proclaiming the album “a masterpiece to be dissected for years to come” and Consequence saying the release finds “Tool in peak performance.”

Earlier this year, TOOL released “Opiate2” (https://TOOL.lnk.to/Opiate2), a re-imagined and extended version of the 1992 EP’s title track and an accompanying short film, marking the band’s first new video in 15 years. The band also unveiled the first incarnation of Fear Inoculum vinyl, dubbed the Ultra Deluxe edition, the limited offering included five 180g vinyl discs emblazoned with a unique etching and accompanied by an elaborate pictorial booklet including never-before-seen artwork.

TOOL formed in 1990, releasing five studio albums: Undertow(1993), Ænima (1996), Lateralus (2001),10,000 Days (2006), and Fear Inoculum (2019); two EPs: 72826 (1991) and Opiate (1992), and the limited-edition boxset Salival (2000). The band has won four GRAMMY Awards®: Best Metal Performance (1998, “Ænima”), Best Metal Performance (2002, “Schism”), Best Recording Package (2007, 10,000 Days) and Best Metal Performance (2020, “7empest”). Even after four steamy, liver-destroying, gut-stretching decades in the name of heavy metal, there’s no stopping the TANKARD beer crew. Just in time for the celebrations surrounding their fortieth birthday, TANKARD will release their new full-length, Pavlov’s Dawgs, on September 30th. The record marks the band’s remarkable eighteenth album as well as their debut for the new label, Reaper Entertainment.

In advance of the record’s release, today TANKARD reveals first single, “Beerbarians,” proving that even after so many years they’re far from being old hat.

Comments vocalist Gerre: “We’re stoked to release our first single ‘Beerbarians’ — TANKARD-typical humor wrapped in a hard-hitting thrash sound with catchy hooklines. Listening in is mandatory! In this sense: carry the fire!”

View TANKARD’s “Beerbarians” lyric video at THIS LOCATION.

“Beerbarians” is available on all streaming platforms. The matching artwork of the single was created by Cliff Knese.

The taps are polished, the Freibier is flowing, and TANKARD are finally back to what they do best five long years after their last studio album: Thrashing madly, drinking thirstily, and ever so cleverly intertwining metal, humor, and sarcastic social commentary into one big raucous ball of entertainment.

Pavlov’s Dawgs, which was recorded and produced at Gernhard Studio Troisdorf together with producer Martin Buchwalter, will be available on CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited earbook with previously unreleased pictures from the last forty years of TANKARD, and as a limited box set which includes two demos on cassette.

RIVERS OF NIHIL released The Work last Fall on Metal Blade Records. The band has never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018’s Where Owls Know My Name, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with The Work, they’ve forged further into new territory, delivering an album that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own. Inarguably a dense, heavy collection, The Work is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly tracks like “Wait” and the gorgeous “Maybe One Day.”

Additionally, the band has incorporated far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the record’s heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano, and alto saxes to great effect.

INTENT – Release New Single “Victims of Conquest”

Posted in Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on June 19, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

High octane thrash outfit INTENT have unleashed “Victims of Conquest”, the first single from their upcoming album Exile. Delivering ludicrous speed, fierce energy and dynamic instrumentation, the new track is a feast of ferocious metal.

The band comments: “We are beyond stoked to present you with this first single from Exile: “Victims of Conquest”. We made sure to crank up the speed, intensity, and political outcry. You know, the way thrash was intended!”

Forming in Arizona in 2015, INTENT underwent line-up changes and spent time developing their sound before heading into the live scene. The outfit soon began opening up for bands like OVERKILL, DRI, and HAVOK to name a few. 2018 saw the release of their debut album Vox Populi, and now in 2022, Exile displays the thrashers’ hard work to cultivate the next era of their sound. Landing on August 26th, 2022, the new album unleashes commanding rhythms and powerful lyrics.

Thundering through the tracks, INTENT‘s immense impact never falters. The thrashers awaken a dark mood that seeps through the instruments and vocals, with a focus on the rhythmic quality of the music. They also unveil a progressive edge across Exile through non-standard time signatures enhancing the chaotic atmosphere of the band’s compositional style.

Exile is a whirlwind of raging thrash metal. INTENT have thrown their all into this thrilling album, it’s a brutal journey that needs to be experienced to be believed.

MUNICIPAL WASTE – To Release New Album “Electrified Brain” On July 1st, 2022

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on June 17, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

From: municipalwaste.com

MUNICIPAL WASTE will release the massively-anticipated 7th studio album, Electrified Brain, on July 1st via Nuclear Blast. The shocking cover artwork by James Bousema.

“It’s in the vein of songs like ‘Headbanger Face Rip’ and ‘Wave of Death’,” Tony Foresta notes. “It’s an inspirational song for our fans to cause bodily harm to themselves, but in a loud and healthy way, of course.”

“We’re not writing any love ballads to sell records,” affirms Tony. “We’re just doing what we’ve always done since the band started and that’s try to write loud, fast, and ripping hardcorepunkmetal. We hope you walk away with some bloody ears, blown speakers, pissed off parents, black eyes, and a healthy distrust of authority.”

Recorded in Philadelphia with producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Code Orange), “Electrified Brain” is a high-voltage non-stop masterclass of neck-snapping thrash that’d be the ideal soundtrack for high-speed car chases and backyard steel cage matches as witnessed on the new track “Grave Dive.”

“Electrified Brain” Tracklisting:

  1. Electrified Brain
  2. Demoralizer
  3. Last Crawl
  4. Grave Dive
  5. The Bite
  6. High Speed Steel
  7. Thermonuclear Protection
  8. Blood Vessel – Boat Jail
  9. Crank The Heat
  10. Restless and Wicked
  11. Ten Cent Beer Night
  12. Barreled Rage
  13. Putting On Errors
  14. Paranormal Janitor

My Recent Cassette Purchases: CORPSEGRINDER, BURNING WITCHES And KILLER BE KILLED – Reviewed

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, music reviews, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 4, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

The self-titled CORPSEGRINDER release is a monstrous and impressive leap for this Death Metal legend. CORPSEGRINDER is jam packed with infectious riffs, entertaining lyrics and more badass grooves than I can count. This is way more like Obituary than Cannibal Corpse; yet CORPSEGRINDER stands alone on its musicianship and overall nod to straight-up Metal.

Killer Be Killed exemplify’s how Metal has evolved up to this point in time; a modern Metal sound that benefits from the brilliance of this supergroup. Max Cavalara shows off clean vocals with his growls, while each song on Reluctant Hero I find to be outstanding. Greg Puciato is a tremendous force on this album. An amazing Metal album which I already consider as a classic.

Burning Witches carry the torch for Traditional Heavy Metal while adding their own recipe of sound. These ladies bring a hefty dose of speed and melody to their songs, along with some growls and European Metal vibes. The Witch Of The North settles into this band’s growing and impressive discography perfectly. If you love DORO, you’ll love Burning Witches.

TORCHLIGHT PARADE – Release Title Track From Upcoming Release “Never Laugh When a Hearse Rolls By”

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on June 3, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

St. Louis Heavy Metal band Torchlight Parade are pleased to announce that they will release their upcoming album “Never Laugh When A Hearse Rolls By” on June 6 2022. The album will be released on both CD and digital formats. The band features guest musician Teddy Andreadis (Guns-n-Roses, Alice Cooper) on keyboards and a guest appearance from Sam Bam Koltun of Faster Pussycat.

Listen to the album’s title track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9OYzafFjjk

The band comments: ““Three fifths of our band is morticians by day. Both our band name and first album definitely made references to our morbid professions, but we thought we would go full tilt into the funeral theme for our second album. It tells the story of a gothic funeral ceremony with classic old school metal. In keeping with this theme, we even brought on board former Guns-n-Roses and Alice Cooper keyboardist Teddy “Zig Zag” Andreadis. We home listeners enjoy the Rock n Soul Ceremony! “

More information will be available soon.

Finnish Heavy Metal Act Justice Theory Announces Their New EP “BEATEN WILL RISE”!

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on June 2, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

Photographer: Jaakko Manninen

The EP includes 4 new tracks of pure metal attitude! It starts with the massive intro song “Beaten Will Rise” that leads you to the energetic first single “Fight Until You Die”. The rounds harden with high pitch vocals and fastness of the second single “The Abandoned” and eventually the EP ends with the most epic and rugged song released to date, “End of Chapter”.

Guitarist/vocalist Valtteri Saharinen states:“This EP started to form in early 2021 as I came up with the main riff to a song called “The Abandoned”. The riff itself got me inspired for a short album that handles themes such as loneliness, meaning of communality, mental endurance and pushing forward no matter what happens in your life. After the kickstart I decided to make three diverse songs about those headlines but at the same time keep the package focused on my mission. The end result became more than I could imagine, and as a band we are more than excited to finally let you hear this aggressive but controlled mayhem of our best songs due to date! I hope you like it, see you in the SHOW!
