SYLVATICA – Band Biography:
SYLVATICA started as a folkish Black Metal project in the year 2009 by friends Pelle Buch and Rasmus Kaibe, who, while listening to Svartsot, in a drunken haze decided that they wanted to start a Folk Metal band. Realizing that none of them could play flute and they needed a guitarist, they called Jardén Schlesinger the same night and he was added to the “line-up”… after that the flute was scrapped.
The first SYLVATICA release was the song Mjölner og Mjöd, which quickly became a local hit in their hometown Nyborg, even though it was very poorly recorded and mixed, by Kaibes bigger brother, they started getting a name for themselves, and after a couple of line-up changes, SYLVATICA recorded their first EP / demo Sagn og Sagaer in late 2010 with the new line-up, consisting of Jardén Schlesinger and Jannik Ravn on guitars, Thomas Haxen, replacing Kaibe, on bass and Pelle Buch on drums. This release earned the band live jobs with Vanir and Svartsot.
After a couple of months, the band decided in the summer of 2011 to record a new EP / demo called Mosemanden, but this time without Jannik, who decided to leave the band. For the promotional live shows after the recording, the band took in guitarist Thor Stokholm, who filled in for Jannik for a few shows untill they found a permanent replacement in Martin Hamann, who joined the band just before the Mjød og Mædl tour in 2011. After 2012 Martin Hamann was no longer a part of SYLVATICA.
Having toured all of Denmark in 2011 and 2012, the band has now gradually upgraded itself from a spare-time hobby to a fully fledged band, looked for a label to support its debut album, which ended in a self-financed release situation.
The band has, however, not stepped back in regards to live performances, still actively playing concerts whenever possible, the band is both playing nationally and abroad, if possible. So keep your eyes open, SYLVATICA might just one day bring the swamps to your doorstep, and deliver a show you won’t soon forget.

Austin Spence, bassist and vocalist for Northern California’s Death Metal juggernauts EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT recently sat down with LivingInTheMovie.com to discuss a number of topics, including the band’s newest album, Reptilian Agenda, the philosophies that went into the album’s lyrics and more. The video interview, which was filmed at Slim’s in San Francisco during a stop on the Brutal Alliance Tour, is now playing below.
Out now on Deepsend Records, Reptilian Agenda has forged a whole new level of brutality for the band and sees them continue to push beyond the boundaries of Death Metal. Reptilian Agenda was mixed and mastered by Colin Davis (Vile). Preview and purchase Reptilian Agenda at deepsendrecords.bandcamp.com.

This is angry, brutal, technically adept and controlled chaos. Brutal and Grinding? Oh yes..!” – Metal Temple
Swedish Death Metal collective, ENTRAILS, is pleased to unveil Resurrected From The Grave – Demo Collection, an eighteen-track compilation featuring the band’s Reborn and Human Decay demos.
The demo material is based on ideas ENTRAILS first developed back in the ’90s. For various reasons, they were never released and some years later the band fell apart completely. Guitarist Jimmy Lundqvist continued to write however and saved everything to tape. Fifteen years passed before Lundqvist decided to record these ancient relics with modern tools, computers and some help from his partner in crime, vocalist Jocke Svensson.
The first demo, Reborn, was tracked in early 2009 and the follow-up, Human Decay, shortly after in the Summer of that same year. The demos were initially self-released on homemade CD-Rs and limited to just fifty copies each. Back then, it had already been decided that they would need to be repressed at some point in the future. That time is now.
Lundqvist comments: “It feels great to finally do something serious with the two demos from 2009. After multiple requests from fans asking about the demos, I had to release the brakes on this, now or never. While we are working on the upcoming new ENTRAILS full-length, we feel better to do this release now which gives a bit more time for upcoming shows and the new album!”
Resurrected From The Grave – Demo Collection Track Listing:
1. Reborn (Intro)
2. Evil Obsession
3. The Morgue
4. Your Dead Dog Smile
5. Voices
6. Triumph Of The Sinners

ENTRAILS’ most recent full-length, Raging Death, was released via Metal Blade in May of 2013 and reaped critical hails both stateside and abroad. Metal Hammer noted that Raging Death “should satisfy those who are hungry for something oldschool,” New Noise Magazine dubbed it, “an absolutely perfect slab of catchy, violent Swedish death metal,” while Stereogum opined, “Now on their third album, ENTRAILS are still putting young knockoff artists to shame. Perfect for blasting, banging, and bashing.”
While their third full-length, At War With, inundated the masses in 2013, Mammoth Lake, California-based black/death trio VALDUR has remained secluded from band actions for several months, but now the cult confirms their upcoming emergence from their Sierra Nevada catacombs for a special live performance, as well as the penning of new material.
On July 9th, VALDUR will invade Sacramento to provide direct support for the only West Coast appearance of the mighty Sargeist, the bill also including Killgasm and Pale Chalice.
Collectively issues the VALDUR clan of their impending activities, “We chose to step back and remain quiet for a while by not playing live or being active as a band, besides releasing At War With at the end of last year. But we have agreed to play a special Sacramento show set up by our friend Jaime from Killgasm. The plan is to then retreat back into privacy here in our mountain town of the Eastern Sierras and continue to compose some strange music indeed….”

Further information on VALDUR will be released later in 2014 upon the completion of their next recorded works. In the meantime, the first run of At War With CDs has already sold out, and the cassettes are already running low, so get em while you can via bloodymountainrecords.com.
Recorded at Earhammer Studio with Greg Wilkinson and mastered by Michael Z. (Secrets of the Moon, Ascension) at Source Studios, At War With douses its listeners with ten punishing hymns of audio abhorrence. A grotesque outpouring of war marches, harrowing riff torrents, possessed vocal tirades, fanatical blastbeats and an all-consuming atmosphere of chaos, apprehension and maniacal discontent, At War With proves VALDUR as one of America’s best kept extreme metal secrets.
Featuring past and current members of Weverin, Endless Blizzard and Plutocracy, the band was forged at the turn of the century in a small mountain town located in the pulsating heart of the Sierra Mountains where the Death Valley desert lands meet the ascending Mt. Whitney and where the unholy trio dwells without interference of fashionable scenes or rulebooks.
Swe-death lunatics ENDING QUEST have finished recording their debut album, The Summoning and have announced a June 20 release date through FDA Rekotz. Featuring members of DESOLATOR, ENDING QUEST deliver pure old-school Death Metal with the same passion and fury heard from the likes of ENTOMBED and GRAVE.
Welcome the new generation of Stockholm slaughter. Welcome ENDING QUEST.

Czech Metal label Lavadome Productions is proud to announce the June 6 release of The Gates of Hell from beastly NYDM trio DAY OF DOOM.
Dwelling in the underground of Long Island, DAY OF DOOM’s third album is the first to be released on a label. The new material represents the raw, sickening, and undeniable brutality of early New York Death Metal, sending the listener back to a time when every new album sounded fresh and exciting; the sole aim to create music that delivered a punch to the face and a kick in the gut. That’s the sound of The Gates Of Hell, a stab of bludgeoning, uncompromising force played with skill and passion. The cover art was conceived by the mighty Raul Gonzales.
RIYL: SUFFOCATION, GORGUTS, MORBID ANGEL, HUMAN REMAINS, RIPPING CORPSE, and old school Death/Thrash.
Album track “Slaughter of The Lamb” is now streaming:

Diabolical Death/ Black Metal giants BELPHEGOR have just revealed the cover design of their forthcoming album ‘CONJURING THE DEAD’. The artwork was created by Greek artist, Seth Siro Anton who also painted the cover of ‘Pestapokalypse IV’ in 2006.
Helmuth comments:
“The spectacular cover, the offensive lyrical content, the Death Musick. BELPHEGOR´s nine new sound collages are a new dimension of intensity and dynamics.”
Seth adds:
”Once you can customize the basic principles of Renaissance painting and deriving energy/data from chaotic reservoir of unconscious… you get BELPHEGOR´s “CONJURING THE DEAD” cover art.”
‘CONJURING THE DEAD’ was recorded at Mana Studios in Florida under the direction of Eric Rutan. Three and a half years have past since the highly praised album ‘Blood Magick Necromance’ was released. BELPHEGOR are back to conquer – possessed, on fire and stronger than ever!
The tenth studio album of one of the most bizarre and authentic bands in the world of Metal will be unleashed on August 8th (EU/ North America) and August 11th (UK/FR) via Nuclear Blast.
Portugal’s Annihilation have unleashed upon the world their single for the song “The Great Cycle”. Available as a digital download on their Bandcamp, “The Great Cycle” is a taste of what you will hear on their forthcoming EP “The Undivided”. You can hear and purchase the track at this location.
In addition to releasing the song as a digital download, the band has also premiered the song as a lyric video on Metalrecusants.com, which can be viewed here.
After a two-year hiatus, Ohio Technical Grinding Death Metal peddlers, LOCUSTA, will be embarking on a live takeover through the East Coast this Spring! Slated to commence on May 13th in Raleigh, North Caroline, LOCUSTA will rape faces through Columbia, Knoxville, Columbus, Washington DC, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Providence, Portland, Philadelphia, Harrisonburg and Richmond with additional incursions to be announced in the coming weeks. The band will be joined by drummer Alex Tomlin (Battlemaster, Arsis, Withered et al).
LOCUSTA is currently putting the finishing touches on their as-yet-untitled full-length tentatively scheduled to drop later this year. In the meantime, ravaging preview track, “Contaminant Remains,” will appear on the band’s forthcoming, four-track Dendromorphosis EP which also includes a molten rendition of Death’s “See Through Dreams,” and artwork by renowned designer Lucas Ruggieri (BlackTusk, Kylesa, Ghoul, cough et al). Dendromorphosis will be available for purchase at all upcoming tour dates.
Comments the band of their forthcoming live offensive: “We’re looking forward to hitting the road again after such an agonizingly long break from touring and to what we’re anticipating will be some of the best shows we’ve ever played, both in respect to the caliber of the bands we’re billed with and the fact that our live sets sound tighter than they ever have before. Our set lists will mostly contain songs from the new album, including the first track we’ve ever written that extends past the nine-minute mark, which is easily the darkest and most epic piece of music we’ve written so far. There is more grinding technicality than before, but the songs are also much more mature from a songwriting point of view than what you hear on our first album. We’re excited to be sharing this time in the band with all of our new and old friends on the road, but…no survivors.”
Formed in the fall of 2006, LOCUSTA take their name from a female chemist from Ancient Rome regarded as the first documented serial killer. LOCUSTA released their debut full-length upon an unsuspecting underground in 2010 which is available for download/purchase via their official bandcamp page HERE.
Critical Praise:
“I got dinner at the bar while LOCUSTA played their set. Melodic, technical death metal in the vein of Spawn Of Possession or Decrepit Birth, the band brought the riffage with a vengeance. Health notice: The surgeon general has advised that discreetly headbanging with a mouthful of food is a choking hazard. But totally worth it.” – NoCleanSinging.com
“LOCUSTA. Why isn’t this band huge? Serious death metal from Columbus shredded bar and house shows alike and smote their victims with ease.” – The Athens News
“LOCUSTA is one of the best underground metal bands out there right now; seriously one of the highest underground-to-quality-music ratios possible…Totally real-deal, bad-ass performers, worth the money and time spent x1000.” – Day After Day DC
German Melodic Death/Black Metal band CRAVING are being featured in a TV commercial for Samsung Galaxy S5 on Danish television. The spot is scheduled to run for the next three weeks and features the band’s cover of “Only Teardrops” by Emmelie de Forest. Watch the ad below:
Since 2006, CRAVING has masterfully blended Black and Death metal with soaring melodies and folk influences. In October of last year, Apostasy Records released the band’s sophomore album, At Dawn. With lyrics written in German, Russian and English and a noticeable progression from their 2012 debut, At Dawn stands as one of the most intriguing and varied records in recent memory. Guest appearances on At Dawn include Helge Stang (Ex-Equilibrium), Chris Caffery (Ex-Savatage), Niels Löffler (Ordan Ogan) and Agalaz (Obscurity). The official music video for CRAVING’s cover of “Only Teardrops” can be seen below:
On the run up to the release of their debut album ‘Consumed’, UK Death Thrashers Seprevation today release a music video for ‘Slave To The Grave’.
Guitarist Joss Farrington comments: “The concept was to play on the themes of ‘Slave to the Grave’ and actually give the viewer the visual image of us decaying and covered in gore.”
‘Slave To The Grave’ was shot in the bands home city of Bristol, England at RS Studios and it was directed & edited by Doug Anderson of Visceral Video with a helping hand from Janey Hayes who took care of the special FX make up.
Watch ‘Slave To The Grave’ Here!
“Truly evil sounding Death Metal from Bristol, true to the 80′s and 90′s masters. For fans of Death, Possessed, Sadistic Intent etc.” – Terrorizer Magazine
That aforementioned is just one of many descriptions made of the Death/Thrash maniacs. Formed in 2011 in Bristol, England; since their inception Seprevation have been quick to cause a riot, touring throughout the UK with a battery of hate filled lyrics and a sound to kick your pearly whites to dust, Seprevation are here for a reason and one reason only… to shatter and destroy.
May 10th 2014 will see the release of ‘Consumed’, the debut full length album and follow-up to EP ‘Ritual Abuse’.
Joss comments on ‘Consumed’: “I think fans of ‘Ritual Abuse’ will really like it, it’s more of the same in many ways, plenty of shred and old school worship but it’s definitely steering in our own direction, as the writing process went on the songs became more and more diverse, songs like ‘Between Two Worlds and Dreams’ were written last and you can really hear the difference.”
“If you thought ‘Ritual Abuse’ was pretty great then buy this because it’s 100 times better, 3 words – Old School Worship.”
California Technical Death Metal faction, INANIMATE EXISTENCE, who feature within their ranks members of Brain Drill and Son Of Aurelius, will unleash their sophomore effort, A Never-Ending Cycle Of Atonement, this Summer via Extreme Metal merchants, Unique Leader Records.
Tracked by Max Zigman (Son Of Aurelius, Smaragos) at Parade Outrageous in Santa Cruz and produced by Zack Ohren (Light This City, All Shall Perish, First Blood, Cattle Decapitation, Warbringer et al) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, ANever-Ending Cycle Of Atonement boasts eight conceptual tracks of progressive punishment.
The follow-up to 2012’s Liberation Through Hearing, which MetalSucks championed for its “erie, psychedelic themes richly animated by the grandiose contrast between shamanic atmosphere and uncompromising brutality,” finds INANIMATE EXISTENCE’s signature, over-the-top compositions elevated to an entirely new level of profundity. Each movement marvels at its own innovative density as intricate guitar structures coil seamlessly around complex rhythms and infernal vocal tirades, all the while maintaining an absorbing magnetism that draws exploratory listeners in with each new measure.
The record includes several guest musicians who offer female vocal accents, clarinet, bass flute, harp, bongos and other nuances to the proceedings, only adding to the record’s already confounding depth.

Unique Leader Records is pleased to welcome long-running New York-based death metal legion, INTERNAL BLEEDING, to their expanding roster of audio severity.
For over twenty years, INTERNAL BLEEDING has been at the forefront of the underground Death Metal scene, boasting a relentless DIY work ethic, consistently intense live performances and a commitment to composing some of the heaviest music possible, their breakdown-laden approach directly responsible for the establishment of an entire subgenre of Death Metal, aptly titled “slam” (a term they began using as early as 1992).
Founded in 1991 by guitarist Chris Pervelis following the demise of original band, Autumn Reign, it all began with a case of 300 blank tapes reportedly “found” at a local university. The tapes provided the inspiration to set up a four-track to capture The One Dollar Demo. The following year, INTERNAL BLEEDING recorded their Invocation Of Evil demo, which went on to sell an impressive 5500+ copies through now-defunct Wild Rags Records. The band returned to the studio to track another demo in early 1994. The resulting Perpetual Degradation remains a certified classic in the annals of Death Metal.
Maniacal self-promotion combined with a tireless dedication to their craft, the band eventually made their way to 1994’s Milwaukee Metal fest, where their captivating live show possessed the eyes and ears of Pavement Music, who released their Voracious Contempt debut in 1995. Following a slew of tours both stateside and abroad, label and lineup shifts and four more works of sonic brutality with 1997’s The Extinction Of Benevolence, 1999’s Driven To Conquer, 2000’s Alien Breed compilation and 2002’s Onward To Mecca, it seemed the band had virtually disappeared without warning.
In early 2011 however, Pervelis decided to pick up the proverbial pieces and contacted original members Bill Tolley and Brian Hobbie. The three agreed to reunite and began re-learning INTERNAL BLEEDING’s classic back catalog. With the addition of Jason Liff on bass and legendary frontman Keith DeVito (ex Suffocation, Catastrophic, Pyrexia) handling vocals, the band is again poised to level all in its path. Last month, the band officially signed a two-record deal with Unique Leader Records. Their fifth studio album, Imperium, will be out in the Fall of 2014.
In the meantime, check out the Imperium album teaser below:
INTERNAL BLEEDING:

Shadow Kingdom Records has announced the upcoming release of a CD’s worth of demo and rehearsal material from obscure 80s Death Metal group TERMINAL DEATH on July 8th. A vinyl LP version will also be released in tandem with Hells Headbangers Records.
Based on the material, the Chicago band should have gotten high praise across the globe, but fell through the cracks without a proper record label deal. That all changes now, as fans of early SEPULTURA, DEATH, and POSSESSED are in for a real treat. In addition to the remastered material, a nicely assembled CD booklet includes a detailed interview by Laurent of Snakepit Magazine.
Shadow Kingdom Records owner Tim McGrogan shared these words about the release:
“When you talk about the earliest Death Metal bands, we think of SEPULTURA, DEATH, POSSESSED (all stemming from VENOM) right off the top, but there were a few ripping bands that quickly fell into obscurity and TERMINAL DEATH is one of those bands. This is not just an obscure band; they could have been a HUGE Death Metal band if they were signed to the right label back then. They certainly had all of the talent of the aforementioned bands. Their 1985 Demo tape screams with energy and intensity! This collection is another snapshot of that amazing early Slayer-esque Death Metal. Co-founder Shaun Glass, whom also co-founded SINDROME, later joined the more well-known classic Death Metal band BROKEN HOPE in the early 1990’s. Shadow Kingdom Records also teamed up with Hells Headbangers Records to release this lost gem as a Double LP. If you’re into vinyl, keep your eyes peeled for it will be a glorified presentation.”
Select tracks from Terminal Death are streaming below:

THUNDERWAR – Poland’s Thunderwar saw their debut (4 song) EP, The Birth Of Thunder, release back in 2013. I do declare, without any reasonable doubt, that Thunderwar will be a Death Metal band to reckon with for years to come. I hope, anyways. It’s always a thrill, when an astute underground Death Metal band such as Thunderwar crosses my Metal path. In my Metal opinion, these Polish Death Metal dudes are really good at what they do.
Thunderwar plays their brand of Death Metal on the melodic side as well; still, it’s Death Metal, in the European vein. In other Metal words, that means this band kicks unadulterated Death Metal ass. With their instrumental title track, The Birth Of Thunder, a mature musical aptitude abounds from Thunderwar; displaying their taste for the splendid and atmospheric listen. I believe I hear a touch of flamenco guitar in this title track too. I dunno, what do I know. Whoa.
I realize this sounds cliché, however, I do wish that this wasn’t an EP and instead a full-length album. Yes, I do dig Thunderwar. Any fan of Amon Amarth should become an instant fan of this band. I sincerely would love to see Thunderwar keep their Metal momentum going and become a household name among the proud world-community of Death Metal addicts. Metal be thy name. – Stone
