BERZERKER LEGION – Announce New Album ‘Chaos Will Reign’

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on August 1, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Artwork by: Adi Dechristianize

BERZERKER LEGION was founded in 2016 by guitarists Tomas Elofsson (Hypocrisy) and Alwin Zuur (Asphyx) with a vision to create death metal of the most belligerent quality, they recruited a line-up of solid well-known musicians consisting of James Stewart (Vader) on drums, Jonny Pettersson (Wombbath) on vocals and Fredrik Isaksson (Dark Funeral) on bass to complete the Legion.

Alwin Zuur (guitars/songwriter) comments: “During the recent years Tomas and I met each other at shows and festivals regularly. Much of our conversations were about music and styles. During these meetings we found out that we really had a lot of common musical interests .

Music wise our debut album ‘Obliterate the Weak’ displays the perfect balance between brutality, melody and harmony. Being a fan of the early 90’s Swedish Gothenburg style, with bands like At The Gates, Eucharist, A Canorous Quintet, as well as being a die-hard fan of brutal old school death metal style with bands like Bolt Thrower, Obituary, I have always wanted to write songs showing a mix of such different death metal genres.

With our new album “Chaos Will Reign” we have further developed ourselves in our typical musical mix of melody and brutality. “Chaos Will Reign” sounds more professional, complete, massive and powerful thanks to Jonas Kjellgren’s production. It has become the logical successor, a huge step forward compared to our debut album “Obliterate the Weak”
.

BERZERKER LEGION line up:
Jonny Pettersson – Vocals
Tomas Elofsson – Guitars
Alwin Zuur – Guitars
James Stewart – Drums
Fredrik Isaksson – Bass

Saying the album songs transpire massively produced invigorating heavy death metal is an understatement. BERZERKER LEGION knock out with warlike triumphant, powerfully addictive harmonies that will turn them into an unstoppable beast in a live situation and on record.

New single/video for the song ‘Choirs of Anguish’ out in September!

Chaos Will Reign’ track-listing:
1 Chaos Will Reign 05:54
2 Choirs Of Anguish 04:44
3 Nihilism Over Empathy 03:54
4 Towards Oblivion 04:34
5 This Is The End 04:58
6 Damnation 03:37
7 Eternal Void 06:00
8 Worship All That Is Dead 03:32

JAG PANZER released their first album in six years, a conceptual opus titled The Hallowed, through Atomic Fire Records last month. The record earned the #23 position on the Official German Album Chart and #62 on the Official Swiss Album Chart: #62. Now, JAG PANZER have kicked off their European tour in support of the record at Germany’s Headbangers Open Air Festival. The ten-date journey also includes a stop at Wacken Open Air and will come to a close with an appearance at Alcatraz Festival on August 12th. In celebration of the tour, the band has unveiled a video for the track “Prey.”

Watch JAG PANZER’s “Prey” at THIS LOCATION.

Guitarist Mark Briody comments, “‘Prey!’ is probably the band’s favorite song to rehearse. The quick riff is lots of fun to play live! In the album concept this is where the panthers kill a family so that the team can take their supplies. We wanted something a bit different for this song, so there is no solo and the structure is much different from the other songs. The track also showcases some of our more unique influences. For example, the main riff in ‘Prey!’ ends on 4. We don’t do that a lot in our music but some of our very early (young teens) influences such as The Runaways’ ‘Cherry Bomb’ ends the riff on 4.”

Order The Hallowed in the physical format of your choice, stream it, or get it digitally at jagpanzer.afr.link/thehallowedPR.

SADISTIC VISION “Destroyer of All Dreams” Out Now On Boris Records

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on July 29, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Hailing from the original era that spawned Death Metal, Sadistic Vision has spanned over three decades with their brand of “Traditional” style of Death Metal. Destroyer of All Dreams consists of five brutal tracks that represent a true homage to the roots of the sound that makes them Sadistic Vision.

The goal of this new EP is to give an insight of imaginative mental progressions that speak to the violent dispositions that come with murder, destruction, depressed and revengefully liberating musicality while maintaining true to the original sound of the band’s persona.

“We are truly grateful and excited to be working with our friends at Boris Records on this one. We’re looking forward to being a part of the Boris Records family.” — Sadistic Vision

“We feel that with today’s death metal consisting of so many bands that are quick to be trendy and stake a claim on the phrase “old-school” death metal that we would like to set ourselves apart from that. In saying that we are ‘traditional’ death metal, we are from the originating times of the style, and are still influenced and inspired by it both as individual and collective musicians.”

Track Listing:

  1. Intro
  2. Unremorsed Killing
  3. Repressed Mind
  4. Destroyer of All Dreams
  5. J.C.

Line-up:

Beau C – guitars and vocals
Brian Reed – bass
Justin Kitzmiller – drums

BIO: Originally starting in the southern regions just outside of New Orleans Louisiana, the band relocated to Hanover Pennsylvania in 1989. After a hiatus and a few lineup changes, Sadistic Vision evolved into a 3-piece line up in 2017, with founding members Beau and Brian still at the helm.

CROWBAR released their critically-adored Zero And Below full-length last year on MNRK Heavy. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Duane Simoneaux at OCD Recording And Production in Metairie, Louisiana, Zero And Below is the band’s most unforgivably doom-driven record since their 1998 landmark effort, Odd Fellows Rest. Led by Windstein, with guitarist Matt Brunson, bassist Shane Wesley, and drummer Tommy Buckley, songs like “Chemical Godz,” “It’s Always Worth The Gain,” and “Bleeding From Every Hole” are unapologetic emotional outpourings, with a bare-knuckle resolve alongside its soul-searching vulnerability, reliably delivered with crushing heaviness.

MESHUGGAH – To Issue Remastered Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Edition Of “Chaosphere” Full-Length November 10th 2023, Via Atomic Fire – Preorders Available

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on July 28, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

It is impossible to talk about experimental or avant-garde metal without mentioning long-running metal icons, MESHUGGAH. Since forming in 1987 in Umeå, Sweden, MESHUGGAH has developed into one of the most technically complex and virtuosic groups of players the metal realm has ever encountered, their distinctly unique brand of progressive, groove‐infused extreme metal inadvertently launching an entirely new subgenre. Crowned “one of the ten most important hard and heavy bands,” by Rolling Stone, the band has earned the respect and admiration from fans and musicians alike.

2023 now marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of one of the band’s earliest milestones: Chaosphere. Originally released on November 9th, 1998, MESHUGGAH’s third full-length studio album shows the band toning down some of the thrashier sounds of previous releases in favor of the more technical, polyrhythmic, groove-oriented sound they would go to explore on subsequent albums. The record contains the songs “New Millennium Cyanide Christ,” “Corridor Of Chameleons,” and “Neurotica,” some of the band’s most streamed tracks, among other highlights.

To commemorate the album’s quarter-century anniversary, Atomic Fire will unleash a sonically updated version of the album on November 10th. The re-release of this masterpiece comes in hi-def audio remastered by Thomas Eberger and Sofia von Hage at Stockholm Mastering on all streaming platforms, as well as a jewel case CD edition (incl. 8-page booklet), and stunning new vinyl colors (most are limited worldwide to under 1500 of each color, 180 grams, 2xLP in 5 mm Sleeve incl. 2-page insert), to complete every collector’s dream.

VORTEX Announces Eastern Canadian Tour Dates (QC, ON, NB, PEI)

Posted in Death Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on July 26, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

New Album “The Future Remains In Oblivion” Out Now!

Rimouski, Quebec’s Vortex announces they will be hitting the road for show dates across Eastern Canada this coming Fall 2023 in support of their latest album “The Future Remains In Oblivion” released this past June. The band will be touring from the months of September to January performing across Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, and PEI where they will be joined by Aeternam, Serene Dark, Strigampire (2023 Wacken Metal Battle Canada Champions), and Beyond Fiction on select dates.

Vortex‘s third epic concept album is set to aggressive and beautiful orchestral melodic death metal with hints of black metal. Each song on “The Future Remains In Oblivion” is one chapter in their well-written sci-fi tale and there is a build-up in intensity and emotion that goes along with the storyline and the lyrics as you traverse the album. They share their thoughts:

“This is an orchestral death metal album with plenty of heavy riffing and melodies, technical vocals, and epic soloing. Some of the songs are riff-oriented and some others had the orchestra and melodies written before the drums and the guitars. We wrote all the lyrics before the music to make sure that it would fit the feel and emotion of each song/part of the story. When we start writing a song, we know exactly what feeling and emotion we are aiming at, it’s a good way to push ourselves creatively and write thoughtful music.”

Music Video – “First Blood” – https://youtu.be/Wd-yfIfRRzQ

Those familiar with the previous albums will note that they were more on the ambient/dramatic side. The new album’s songs are still melodic/orchestral but much more aggressive and some of them have a black metal influence. Vortex’s goal was to create songs that would have a greater impact on their live shows, and these aggressive songs will work well live. They feel the album is a good combination of aggression/melody, and ugliness/beauty.

Creativity and storytelling are the key tenets of Vortex. Their masterful lyric writing is equally matched with their prowess in devising riffs, and orchestrations. They will transport the listener into a new world and are recommended for fans of Lorna Shore, Dimmu Borgir, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Track Listing:

  1. From The Sun (5:24)
  2. Downfall (4:11)
  3. The Fool (3:13)

  6. First Blood (4:29)
  7. The Future Remains In Oblivion (4:50)

DAMNATIONS HAMMER Reveal Album Details & Music Video For First Single, feat. MY DYING BRIDE Singer Aaron Stainthorpe!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on July 22, 2023 by Metal Odyssey

Building on the foundations set by their previous 2019 album, “Unseen Planets, Deadly Spheres”, September 15, 2023 will see DAMNATIONS HAMMER release their much awaited, forthcoming magnum opus titled “Into The Silent Nebula“!

On their third album, DAMNATIONS HAMMER unleashes eight songs of relentless heavy metal, incorporating the band’s trademark doom-laden groove. Once again produced by Mark Mynett, “Into The Silent Nebula” will feature guest appearances from Rotting Christ’s Sakis, Aaron Stainthorpe of My Dying Bride and Fenriz from Darkthrone!

Give ear, today, DAMNATIONS HAMMER are presenting a first single, the colossal album opener “Sutter Cane“ (feat. Aaron Stainthorpe)! A video clip is now premiering HERE!

The band comments:
“”Sutter Cane” is based on the film “In The Mouth Of Madness”. Sutter Cane is the protagonist from the film, he’s a horror novel writer who goes missing before the release of his latest book, “In The Mouth Of Madness”. It turns out that what Cane is writing is becoming reality: He’s opening a gateway to other worlds allowing an unspeakable horror to spill into our reality! That’s Aaron Stainthorpe from My Dying Bride at 02:51 minutes wanting to know “Do you read Sutter Cane?”

Set to be released as CD Digipak, Ltd. Vinyl LP and Digital formats on September 15, 2023 through Massacre Records, the album pre-sale is now available at THIS LOCATION!

Can you hear the sirens howling? Code Red, the forthcoming new studio album from German metal commandos PRIMAL FEAR, will be unleashed upon the world in just six weeks on September 1st via Atomic Fire.

Following the release of celebrated first single, “Another Hero,” the group today shares a second new track, “Deep In The Night.” The raging yet stomping song is a massive statement for all human beings that have lost faith in mankind or other people while underlining that there’s still better times awaiting.

Vocalist Ralf Scheepers comments, “Finding out to being cheated is one of the worst experiences for a young man or woman. Unfortunately, it happens to almost every one of us in life and if not, I hope it never will! But one thing is for sure: If it happens to you, it will definitely help to make the cornea around your heart grow even more. It affects your trust and if you take it too personally, you will probably never be able to trust anyone again. Nevertheless, there are fortunately always people who penetrate this cornea and reach your heart with their beautiful souls.”

Ubik Media, who produced the music video for aforementioned hit track “Another Hero,” has once again greatly caught the atmosphere of the song. The video was shot at Stuttgart, Germany’s Im Wizemann venue, where PRIMAL FEAR will kick off their release tour with support from special guests The Unity.

Recorded in Germany at Sebastian “Basi” Roeder’s Backyard Studios, with the helping hands of vocalist Ralf Scheepers as well as Mitch Kunz, Code Red was produced by bassist Mat Sinner and co-produced by Scheepers and guitarist Tom Naumann. Long-time PRIMAL FEAR companion Jacob Hansen took care of mixing and mastering at his own Hansen Studios in Denmark once again. Additionally, Stan W. Decker, who created previous works for the band including 2017’s Angels Of Mercy – Live In Germany, 2018’s Apocalypse, and 2021’s I Will Be Gone), provided the record’s magnificent artwork.

Stockholm-based heavy metal band IGNITED is set to release its second full-length album, Cradle of the Wicked. The follow-up to 2019’s “Steelbound” will be out on October 27.

The band has also revealed the cover artwork and track listing for “Cradle of the Wicked” (shown below).

“Cradle of the Wicked” was recorded, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden by Fredrik Nordström. Additional engineering and edits by Robert Kukla. Songwriting on “Cradle of the Wicked” by Dalton Castro, Martin Bellucci, Maurício Velasco. The album was recorded in August 2022.

Cradle of the Wicked – track listing:
1) Cradle of the Wicked
2) The Overflow
3) At the Damned’s Hall
4) Bloody Satisfied
5) Uncontrollable
6) The Sewer Lords
7) Life Goes By
8) Nightshift
9) Tearing Down the Walls
10) Abyss of Fear

At the beginning of 2017, the band started working on a proposal to play an energetic heavy metal as straightforwardly as possible and then the first songs got into shape, which turned into the pre-production of the first album.

“Steelbound” was recorded in August 2019 in São Paulo, Brazil, produced by Thiago Bianchi (Noturnall/ex-Shaman), and the artwork was designed by Gustavo Sazes (Arch Enemy/British Lion/Machine Head).

The album was released digitally on November 1st and played live during the band’s first concert as one of the opening acts for the band Noturnall, featuring Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) in Porto Alegre, Brazil (Bar Opinião) and also in another gig in February of the next year, right before the pandemic took place. After being made available on digital platforms along with a video clip for the song “Ignition” and a lyric video for the song “Times” in the same year, the band got a distribution deal for a physical CD release in 2020 through Voice Music Records. The promotion was handled by the band and PR agencies.

Martin Bellucci – Bass (London – UK)

“Steelbound” has reached more than 200.000 streams on Spotify and more than 100.000 on YouTube so far, having an excellent acceptance by the audience in many countries.

In the same year, the band participated in online festivals like Heresy Metal Festival idealized by Argentinian metalheads, and also worked on the production of a live album called Steelive and an acoustic version of the song “Times,” exploring different sounds than previously done in the debut album. Also, a guitar playthrough for the song Roaring Gears was released and promoted.

In 2021 another music video for the song “Living In The Dark” was released by the band and got some promotion as well made by a European PR agency this time, and marketing actions like in the previous releases were made. In April 2022, the live album came out after the acoustic version, and Martin Bellucci was introduced as their new bass player.

The band worked together on the second album pre-production during the first semester of 2022. In August landed in Gothenburg, Sweden to record at Studio Fredman with the production of Fredrik Nordström (Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Dream Evil), having a Swedish production at its finest. A new video clip was produced by Bravo & Bravo Films (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra, H.E.A.T), and the album artwork and design are handled again by Gustavo Sazes.

Ignited was born in the South of Brazil, Balneário Camboriú, and is now based in Stockholm, Sweden.

WARMEN — the Finnish powerhouse featuring Janne Wirman (Children Of Bodom) — will unleash their Here For None full-length worldwide August 18th via Reaper Entertainment. In advance of the record’s release, today the band releases their second single, “Hell On Four Wheels.”

Bassist Jyri Helko comments on the track and accompanying video, “‘Hell On Four Wheels’ is a fast and furious combination of the new, heavier WARMEN and the older albums’ melodic style, including the Wirman brothers’ epic solo battle! We also shot WARMEN’s first real music video to this song. The camera was operated by Petri Inkinen of Guilty Visuals, and the director was non other than Ykä Järvinen, who is the man behind, for instance, Children Of Bodom’s classic videos ‘Downfall’ and ‘Sixpounder.’”

Here For None” will be released on vinyl, digipak CD, and digital formats. Find preorders at THIS LOCATION.

“Here For None” heralds a new era. True to the motto, “The king is dead, long live the king,” WARMEN is not only headed towards heavier shores musically due to the band’s updated lineup, but it can also be said with justification that WARMEN is taking on the musical legacy of Wirman’s former band in a spectacular way.

“I will always be Janne from Bodom. That’s okay with me. I’m happy about it and I don’t have to hide my past. I also see that as a positive thing for WARMEN,” Wirman notes of his good reputation and the attention he gets within the metal scene. Together with his brother Antti Wirman and longtime friend Jyri Helko, the trio has recuited Seppo Tarvainen on drums as well as Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum) on vocals to make “Here For None” a true masterpiece of melodic death metal.

WARMEN will present this legacy live at select events including a release show at this year’s Summer Breeze Open Air. Stand by for further details.

Influenced by Thrash Metal Royalties Slayer, Kreator, Destruction and Exodus’ earlier works, ETERNAL EVIL was formed in Stockholm – Sweden in 2019. Their quickly sold out ‘Rise of Death’ self released demo was recorded in band leader Adrian Tobar‘s garage and It was later reissued by Iron Fist and Redefining Darkness records .

Shortly after the demo release, the world was hit by a pandemic and during those restrictive years, the band worked on in silence and brought in Norrland guitarist Tobias Lindström. Now with two new members, the band is ready with its follow-up album “The Gates beyond Mortality” to be released in October 2023.

With lyrical themes from Occult Practice to the violent nature of warfare the band has crafted an album that has broken all the rules and standards from previous times, which makes this album sound darker than anything they have released prior.

‘Concordat (The Pact) I’ Video Now Playing + Preorders Available

Death metal icons INCANTATION will unleash their new album, Unholy Deification, via Relapse Records on August 25th, today revealing the record’s artwork, track listing, preorders, and first single/video!

INCANTATION frontman John McEntee comments, “I’m not interested in playing it safe. I think other people feel that there are limits to what we do. However, I don’t see it that way. If it feels right, then it’s INCANTATION. The songs we write are an honest expression of ourselves. When people hear the new album, I hope they think, ‘Why are these guys so pissed off?!’ Rage gives focus, which is why this album turned out the way it did.”

Watch INCANTATION’s“Concordat (The Pact) I” music video, directed by The C.O.I.N., at THIS LOCATION.

Physical Unholy Deification preorders are available via Relapse.com HERE. Digital downloads/streaming are available HERE.

INCANTATION‘s sepulchral pandemonium is visually enhanced by award-winning artist and longstanding collaborator Eliran Kantor (Immolation, Kreator, Cavalera, and more.) The end result is an interpretation of Italian Renaissance masters but thrust into INCANTATION‘s cauldron of chromatic malice.

Unholy Deification Track Listing:

  1. Offerings (The Swarm) IV
  2. Concordat (The Pact) I
  3. Chalice (Vessel Consanguineous) VIII
  4. Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX
  5. Invocation (Chthonic Merge) X
  6. Megaron (Sunken Chamber) VI
  7. Convulse (Words Of Power) III
  8. Altar (Unify In Carnage) V
  9. Exile (Defy The False) II
  10. Circle (Eye of Ascension) VII

Edified over three-plus decades of experience, Unholy Deification is INCANTATION’s thirteenth full-length album. Validated by peers seasoned and new, INCANTATION is more vital than ever. The lineup, featuring founding guitarist/vocalist John McEntee, drummer Kyle Severn, bassist Chuck Sherwood, and guitarist Luke Shively, displays death metal know-how and the power of determination.

Lyrically, Unholy Deification originates with Sherwood. An avid reader and occult logician, the INCANTATION bassist wanted to capture a fully realized concept of evolution through enlightenment. Expect thought-provoking, historically derived intellection. The mortal-to-deity narrative interacts with the merciless musical conflagration of hard-hitting tracks such as “Concordat (The Pact) I,” “Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX,” and “Invocation (Chthonic Merge) X”. Make no mistake – the ferocious new album, featuring guests Jeff Beccera (Possessed), Henry Veggian (ex-Revenant), and Dan Vadim Von (Morbid Angel), is pure death metal.

From Cleopatra Records:

Finnish goth metal demons The 69 Eyes send greetings to fans and fiends the world over with an ultra cool apocalyptic boogie woogie take on The Cramps’ classic “Aloha From Hell.” Originally released on the landmark 1986 album A Date With Elvis, The Cramps’ third full-length and its commercial breakthrough, “Aloha From Hell” offered a perfect distillation of the band’s sound – rollicking drums, a throbbing bass line and uber creepy tremolo guitar.

The 69 Eyes’ version retains all of the best elements of the original while adding in their own distinctive goth metal sounds, including the signature baritone voice of frontman Jyrki 69 and the twin guitar attack of Bazie and Timo-Timo with bassist Archzie and drummer Jussi 69 holding down the steady driving groove. Check out the performance video for the full experience of these veteran rockers making a full meal of The Cramps influential horror punk stew!
