Under The Church - Rabid Armageddon - promo cover pic - 2015 - #MOSNSM77733

Rabid Armageddon from old school Swedish/Icelandic Death Metallers UNDER THE CHURCH (feat. former members of NIRVANA 2002), is out now on Pulverised Records.

CD orders: http://pulverised.bigcartel.com/

Digital orders/album stream:

https://pulverised.bandcamp.com/album/rabid-armageddon

Be forewarned, the vultures are circling around this grim chapel – the Swedish old guard UNDER THE CHURCH have unearthed the latest sepulture Rabid Armageddon. Once featured as FENRIZ’s Band of the Week, UNDER THE CHURCH have truly stepped it up a notch with remarkably catchy hooks and their already recognizable corpse-decaying Death Metal stench! Rabid Armageddon is proof once again that crass-ridden and obscene Swedish Death Metal is still a winning formula and shall eternally reign supreme. Artwork and layout by Mattias Frisk (Ghost, Vanhelgd, Entrapment, Vampire, etc).

Critical Praise:

“It’s so nice to find a band still early in their discography who consistently kill it with each new release, especially when their weapon of choice is raw, unrepentant, bestial death metal of the old school.” – No Clean Singing

“Putrid and ferocious death metal in the vein of old gods like Grave, Entombed, Unleashed, etc.” – Zombie Ritual Fanzine

BIOGRAPHY:

Under The Church… Death Metal… pure and simple.

Born of the base desire to create raw and pure Death Metal, Erik Qvick and Lars Henriksson formed the band during 2012, after the final rites were administered to the reanimated corpse that was Nirvana 2002. Inspired, a series of tunes were crafted, labored and recorded. After a vocalist search, UNDER THE CHURCH settled on Australian vocalist MiK Annetts, to give voice to the primal compositions that had been conjured. The end result was ‘Demo 2013’; a three song affair that created a surge of interest in the band and their raw, filthy and ugly approach to the essence of Death Metal. Following their seven-track self-titled debut EP on Pulverised, UNDER THE CHURCH are primed and have released a firestorm of raw and bestial Death Metal called Rabid Armageddon.

Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: KAMELOT “Insomnia” (Official Video)

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, rock music with tags , , , , on November 7, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Kamelot - Haven - promo studio album cover pic - 2015 - #KMO7709

KAMELOT – Progressive/Symphonic Metal superstars KAMELOT released their eleventh studio album, Haven, this past May 4th, via Napalm Records. Insomnia is the second track on this album; an album that I’ve appreciated since my first listen. I easily recommend Haven to everyone, due to the fact that KAMELOT crosses over many Rock and Metal genres. This album is, frankly, one of the beacons of Metal Releases in 2015.

Loaded with Power Metal style keys from Oliver Palotai and the cinematic vocal style of Tommy Karevik, Insomnia is both a memorable and entertaining music video. I hope you enjoy this song and video (below) as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

As read on the Napalm Records YouTube site for KAMELOT’s Insomnia:

Insomnia is a sic-fi inspired song. In a post apocalyptic world, surveillance is everywhere and over population is rampant. Deep in the underground of the Wasteland Monarchy lies the Insomnia Division, the housing for some of the chosen ones, only allowed to live in an Insomniatic state.

IRON MAIDEN – Iconic Metal Warriors Are Cover Feature For Revolver Magazine’s December Issue!

Iron Maiden - Eddie - cover feature - Revolver Magazine - December 2015 - #MOIMNSSM99033

IRON MAIDEN – I just bought this December issue of Revolver at Barnes & Noble today and what a read! The front cover is super badass with the tribal Eddie in all of his gory glory! Whoa! I haven’t purchased a copy of Revolver in a few years, due to the fact that I’m into Zero Tolerance, Metal Hammer and other Metal mags. In addition, the internet itself is where I get 90% of my Metal news as well. However, when this issue stared back at me today, I said: sold!!

I, like countless other Metal and IRON MAIDEN fans are ecstatic that the great Bruce Dickinson has beaten cancer. The Bruce Dickinson feature is a must read. There’s a cool article on Deafheaven too, a band I’ve recently discovered and dig. I haven’t read the Coheed And Cambria or Trivium articles yet; I’ll read them though, of course. This Revolver mag cost me $6.99 (U.S.) and is worth every dime as an IRON MAIDEN collectible. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

Cruz Del Sur Music To Release RAVENSIRE’s “The Cycle Never Ends” In Early 2016

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, music videos, rock music with tags , , , on November 6, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Ravensire - classic band logo - 2015 - #MO33099

Cruz Del Sur Music welcomes to its roster Portuguese Epic Metal Heroes RAVENSIRE! The label will release the band’s third album The Cycle Never Ends in early 2016. In the meantime, check out their new song “Temple at the End of the World” (the final installment of The White Pillars trilogy) at this location or below:

Formed in 2010, RAVENSIRE built a strong reputation in the European Underground Metal movement, with their two previous albums Iron Will (2012) and We March Forward (2013). Given that RAVENSIRE‘s sound is genuinely devoted to the likes of OMEN, old MANOWAR, and BROCAS HELM, both albums were highly acclaimed by Epic Metal fans, fueling the band’s songwriting on The Cycle Never Ends.

The album will be available on CD, vinyl, and digital formats.

Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: HELLOWEEN “Battle’s Won” (Official Track And Lyric Video)

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on November 6, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Helloween

HELLOWEEN – Below is the official track Battle’s Won from the fifteenth HELLOWEEN studio album, My God-Given Right. This new HELLOWEEN album was released worldwide via the mighty Nuclear Blast Records. I’ve been a fan of HELLOWEEN for decades now and it seems like only yesterday when I purchased the (debut full-length) cassette version of Walls Of Jericho. I still have that cassette from 1985 too. Unbelievable, I know!

One of the finest Metal album releases of 2015 that I purchased back in May is: My God Given Right. I found it at my local Best Buy and there was only one there. This new HELLOWEEN album of European Power Metal has made me feel damn good! There’s that special something about the vocals of Andy Deris and the way HELLOWEEN plays at such a heightened level, with each of their songs. Just an amazing band is HELLOWEEN, both past and present, in my Metal opinion.

When it comes to this Battle’s Won song, I cannot figure out if it’s a pro or anti-war song. Maybe it’s neither? Regardless, I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

Helloween - Classic Band Logo - #119 - 2013

There truly is not one average song on My God Given Right. The entire album is killer. If you haven’t bought it yet, do so. You don’t want to miss out on this new HELLOWEEN album, one of my Metal favorites of 2015! Whoa.

Back in January of this year, Sweden’s legendary MARDUK released their thirteenth studio album, via Century Media: Frontschwein. This is one of the best albums I’ve listened to and enjoyed in 2015, due to it’s undeniable integrity of both Black Metal and Extreme Metal sound, crafted lyrics, along with its completeness as a musical work. It’s an album I highly recommend, in other Metal words.

Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: W.A.S.P. “Scream” (Official Lyric Video / Napalm Records)

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, rock music with tags , , , , on November 3, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

WASP - Golgotha - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #33777MMGMSAOTSFF

W.A.S.P. – Metal warrior Blackie Lawless has returned with his legendary band W.A.S.P., with a towering follow-up to 2009’s Babylon studio album. The new studio album is titled Golgotha and the lyric video for the opening track, Scream, is below. Golgotha was released back on October 9th, via the great Napalm Records.

I would classify Scream as a more than a subtle religious song, lyrically referencing to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, without saying his name. Heck, the images of the three crosses and the album title of Golgotha backs up my thought there. Maybe I am totally wrong, who knows? I like this song very much and yet it’s not the greatest W.A.S.P. song ever recorded either. I guess that tells me just how powerful the back catalog of W.A.S.P. songs are!

I, like my Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale have been waiting for this new studio album to land; now that it’s here we are very, very psyched! I am pleased with the tempo of this song and the trademark W.A.S.P. sound is truly intact. Blackie‘s vocals sound sharp and the visuals featured on this lyric video are freaking cool as all hell. Strange as it sounds, I find the tempo and melody of Scream to be kinda similar to Night Ranger‘s song: Don’t Tell Me You Love Me. Perhaps it’s just me.

I hope you enjoy this song and lyric video as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: UNCLE ACID AND THE DEADBEATS “Melody Lane” (Official) Music Video

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on November 2, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats - The Night Creeper - promo cover pic - #MMMONSS0633

UNCLE ACID – I am very attracted to the Fuzz Metal from UNCLE ACID AND THE DEADBEATS. There is something about the sound, vibes and vocals from this band that I find irresistible. Melancholy and as the band themselves call it: Psycho Music. The fuzz from UNCLE ACID makes the fuzz from The Black Keys sound like chicken shit roasting on a hot tin roof. Seriously. UNCLE ACID is a (real) band that for certain will never become a mainstream media darling and that’s sensational in its own right.

The riffage and doom from UNCLE ACID carries their song Melody Lane throughout its nightmarish grandeur. Melody Lane is featured on UNCLE ACID’s new studio album: The Night Creeper. Watch this chilling music video below and prepare yourself for a song that you’ll either love or trash; there really is no in-between. I love this song and dig the creepy video too.

This far-out album of heavy darkness was released via Rise Above Records, back on September 4th. Look for this Night Creeper album to make some noise on Metal Odyssey’s Best Of 2015 lists, after the holiday season. Metal Be Thy Name.

Melancholy driven Metal of desperation, self-destruction and death. A plunge deep into the source of hidden fear and agony. Music filled with all the pain in the world to accompany you on your last journey you will never return from. The band tells about its music.

As mentioned, death metal can be depressing and it is at points, but this Finnish quartet take being depressive music to a new level. It may be a little hard to wrap your head around at first because you don’t know whether to headbang or hang yourself, and maybe you can do both at the same time.” – Cadaver Garden Blog

Hautajaisyö (Funeral Night) was formed in 2014 and plays melancholy Thrash & Death Metal. Band music focuses on catchy riffs, low growling vocals, finnish lyrics and groove elements. Songs have been stripped from anything nonsense and what is left is a mix of pure aggression and deep sorrow. Lyrics of the songs tells stories of failure, death, suicide and mental problems. Hautajaisyö has released ”Uneenkuiskaajat 2015 promo” in January and now the band has released its debut album on October 31st, 2015, through Inverse Records.

Metal Odyssey’s METAL Pick Of The Day Is: SATYRICON – “Die By My Hand” – From “Live at the Opera”‬

Satyricon - Live At The Opera - promo album cover pic - #2015SSFMO

SATYRICON – It is November 1st already, holy crap! I could have sworn it was just August 1st. Regardless, today I want to celebrate one of the true icons of Black Metal: SATYRICON. Satyr (musical genius) and Frost (drums) have once again brought their band together in 2015 with spectacular results: Live At The Opera.

Released via Napalm Records, I can honestly state that this live album featuring The Norwegian National Opera Chorus is already an all-time Metal classic in my Metal life. I highly recommend this album to those who appreciate Black Metal and Metal; despite that I also recommend this album to those who appreciate music.

This live performance is mesmerizing for me! A top ten Metal album of 2015, by Metal Odyssey’s standards. The live music video spotlighted below is: Die By My Hand. This song was originally featured on SATYRICON‘s spectacular studio album from 2008: The Age Of Nero. I admire SATYRICON so much that words alone cannot express it. I hope you enjoy this song and video as much as I do. Metal Be Thy Name.

Parents, teachers and politicians, lock up yourselves! After the 2010 Future Shock tape, new barbarians INSTIGATOR have returned with the Bad Future 7″ vinyl EP. The black vinyl EP will be released December 11th on Gates of Hell Records (a Cruz Del Sur Music sub-label).

Featuring members of ANTICHRIST, PORTRAIT, DEVIL LEE ROT, TRAP, AUTOPSY TORMENT and more, INSTIGATOR offers four tracks (15 minutes) of pure Speed/Heavy Metal, strictly on black vinyl. Pre-orders are set for November 20th.

2015, after the fall of Europe: human beings are nothing more than consumers. Everything is a product that must be sold to everyone. A fashion created to be suitable for all. In a globalized world, mankind has grown weak. And controllable. Technology, the way to profit, power and mass enslavement. But as the world leaders’ confidence increases, a far more aggressive tyrant is about to take over.

Out of the ashes of civilization and into the future, INSTIGATOR will twist your children’s minds with Metal, Satan, hate towards society and disrespect for authority.

QUEENSRŸCHE – It’s been far too long since I’ve posted a Metal Pick Of The Day. What better way to kickstart it all once again, with the magnificent QUEENSRŸCHE! Guardian is a pumped-up and convincingly strong song from QUEENSRŸCHE ‘s recently released studio album: Condition Hüman (Century Media).

With Guardian, Todd LaTorre nails it on vocals and QUEENSRŸCHE are as powerful than they’ve ever been, in my Metal opinion! I love listening to Scott Rockenfield on drums and he is killer on this track. I can go on and on. Instead, crank the living hell out of Guardian below and Metal Be Thy Name!

AZRAEL’S BANE RETURNS!

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , on October 25, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Azraels Bane - promo group live collage - 2015 - #33033MOABMMNSS

HighVolMusic is pleased to announce that Houston, Texas Rock band Azrael’s Bane is reactivated and has signed a 3 album deal with the label. 2016 will see the official release of the bands sophomore effort ‘Modern Day Babylon’ complete with bonus material. Also in the works is the highly sought after debut ‘Wings of Innocence’.

Power Metal, Prog, Melodic Metal, Hard Rock, – descriptions touching on multiple genres of heavy music today, none seem to do justice to the music that is Azrael’s Bane. Based in Houston, Texas, Azrael’s Bane was formed in the summer of 2002. Its members, all seasoned veterans of the heavy rock and metal scene sought to create music that was new, powerful, and different from the norm. They have since developed a strong following through touring and sharing the stage with international acts such as Motorhead, Hammerfall, WASP, Danzig, Ripper Owens, George Lynch (Dokken), Metal Church, Nevermore, Jag Panzer, Quiet Riot, LA Guns, Into Eternity, Lillian Axe, F5 and Neal Turbin among others including a slot on one of the world’s largest Latin American festivals, the Monterrey Metal Fest in Monterrey Mexico.

The band has appeared in multiple US music festivals including Rocklahoma, ProgPower West in Los Angeles and Milwaukee Metal Fest. The band signed a 2 album deal with Chavis Records in the summer of 2005 releasing the highly acclaimed debut CD ‘Wings of Innocence’. The CD received high marks from the press which included a perfect (5 out of 5) review score from legendary Los Angeles, California radio station website KNAC.COM  as well as brisk sales worldwide.

In 2009, their 2nd album ‘Modern Day Babylon’ was released to another wave of critical acclaim by the worldwide melodic rock music media. The band took a much-needed break in 2010. They returned in January of 2015 with new drummer Van Eric Turner (formerly of Z Lot Z ) to begin work on a third album. With soaring clean vocals, shred oriented musicianship, five-part vocal harmonies, and an emphasis on memorable, hook-laden songwriting, Azrael’s Bane are poised to again make their mark on today’s metal music landscape.

Vocalist Trey Gadler checks in with the following update: “The band and I are all very excited to announce our signing with HighVolMusic! HVM are great people who share our vision and game plan making them the perfect partner for us in getting our music out to the world. Stay tuned because this is going to be awesome!”

HighVolMusic label boss Bill Chavis states: “We are super stoked to announce that Azrael’s Bane has signed with HighVolMusic! An amazing band, Azrael’s Bane is comprised of top-notch musicians with their own signature sound loaded with crushing rhythms, blazing guitars, 5-part vocal harmonies and the man up front Trey Gadler. Welcome home boys…”

The band is currently writing music for their third album, to be released in 2017.
