MARAZENE Producer DIETRICH THRALL Launches BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING

Posted in electro-metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on December 5, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Beauty In The Suffering - Large Logo - White Bkgd!

CHICAGO, IL (DLSP) –  MARAZENE producer, multi-instrumentalist, programmer, and vocalist DieTrich Thrall has launched a new Electro-Metal studio project, BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING. The full statement posted on http://beautyinthesuffering.com  follows:

“BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING is an evolving concept I came up with years ago that best described a sense of optimism during some bright spots of an otherwise massive struggle against overwhelming odds.

Music I have been writing and expressing over the last several years has been uniquely intimate in reflecting those struggles and I am very excited about putting out some fresh ideas that represent the here and now.

BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING deals with universal themes of love and loss, defeat and resolve, and struggle and triumph.

Everybody has moments where the road looks impossible to pass. But somehow, little by little we manage through our own inner strength and the purposeful placement of fate, chance, and karma. We emerge wiser and with a deeper understanding of ourselves and of our place in the world and the beauty we glean from the suffering we have endured can never be denied.

This is a journey I accepted long ago. I wear the scars of my personal triumph over my struggles with pride and I stand ready to face new challenges.

And, like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, this is a new beginning. I thank you all for standing by my side during some very difficult years of active-inactivity. The future is wide open and full of nothing but payoff.”

DieTrich Thrall - publicity pic - #1 - 2012

DieTrich (pronounced Dee-Trick) is best known for his co-founding and co-visionary role in the industrial-metal band MARAZENE (later called MARAZENE MACHINE).

From managing the band during its most active and successful National touring years (2006-2008) with acts such as MUSHROOMHEAD, WEDNESDAY 13, DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY and PSYCLON NINE, to co-producing the bands critically hailed cover of MOTLEY CRUE’s “LIVE WIRE” in 2011 as well as the bands lone official full length album (MachiNation, 2006), to writing fan favorite tracks such as “GIVE” (SkumF***erz), to guiding the bands philosophical and edgy lyrical approach (AnTiThesis, Infidel Society), to producing multiple videos for the band, DieTrich’s contributions and influence are heavily noted.

TESTAMENT – Dark Roots Of Thrash Tour 2013 > OVERKILL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, 4ARM Are Special Guests!

Testament - Dark Roots Of Thrash Tour - 2012 - Poster!

Bay Area Thrash Metal legends, TESTAMENT, are proud to announce their first U.S. headlining tour since their phenomenal chart success with their new album, Dark Roots of Earth. The trek promises to be one of the best Thrash Metal lineups of the year, with support coming from the world-renowned OVERKILL and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, as well as Australian Thrashers 4ARM.

“It’s a thrill to announce our upcoming dates with OVERKILL and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM,” commented guitarist Alex Skolnick. “It’s a tour that brings together three different Metal bands from three different regions: West Coast, East Coast and Southwest. All three bands sound very different from one another yet are highly compatible. All have been around the block (and the world) a few times and all have managed to keep a sound that feels current. This tour will be a ‘must see’ for fans who remember the early days of Thrash/Speed Metal as well as those whose age is younger than the genre itself.”

New York, NY – Rhode Island-based rockers DREAMER are thrilled to announce the release of their debut album,Turn It Up. Turn It Up  features ten tracks filled with razor-sharp hooks, radio friendly melodies and a heavy metal wallop that can satisfy the most demanding headbanger.

Inspired by bands ranging from the classic hard rock bands (Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Queen) to modern hardcore and metal (Black Label Society, Pantera, Senses Fail), Dreamer captures the sound of classic metal and infuses it with a style and sound all their own.

Renowned for their high energy live shows at venues across New England, the band has opened for bands such as All That Remains, Burn Halo, Candlebox, Firewind, Hawthorne Heights, Hollywood Undead, Lynch Mob, Saliva and Saving Abel. Dreamer are booking shows to support their album and are on a mission to deliver Turn It Up to audiences and radio stations across the U.S.A.

Dreamer began in the fall of 2010 when both the founding members of Last One Standing, Christian and Nathan Shields decided that a major change was needed to their music project. The brothers began writing music and producing a sound that was heavier than their previous songs.

The tracks on Turn It Up include the first song on the album “Way It Feels,” a hard rock anthem to a 350 Chevy ; “Sex Rocks,” a tune about looking for girls and taking them home; the inspirational hard rock ballad, “Live For Today,” and Dreamer’s anthem, “Turn It Up.”

KING DIAMOND – Signs Worldwide Record Deal With Metal Blade Records!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, horror metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 4, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

King Diamond - Abigail - promo cover pic - large!!

Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce that Grammy Award nominated KING DIAMOND has signed a new 3 album worldwide record deal with the label.

“This is gonna be awesome! Another perfect piece of the puzzle. We have the full backup of Metal Blade, and there’s an understanding between us that goes much, much deeper than before.

Our new business setup will noticeably benefit the fans in so many ways. You must have already noticed some of all the cool new stuff that is happening.

Now we can’t wait to get out there and start touring again!”

Stay Heavy,
King Diamond

King Diamond - B&W Logo!KING DIAMOND is quite possibly the most recognizable and prolific personality ever in heavy metal. Revered by icons as big as Metallica and Pantera to inspiring new upstarts like Goatwhore; KING DIAMOND, the man and the band, have left an indelible mark on the history, and now again, the future of heavy metal.

In August of 2008, KING DIAMOND joined Metallica on stage at Ozzfest in Dallas to perform the Mercyful Fate medley made famous from the Garage, Inc. album. Additionally, KING DIAMOND was featured alongside Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister as a playable character in Guitar Hero: Metallica in 2009.

By 2012, KING DIAMOND was prepared to return to the stage for a select number of shows. The band’s triumphant return to the stage were the highlights of both the Hellfest and Sweden Rock festivals in France and Sweden. Fans at these festivals were treated to the largest and most involved stage production in the band’s storied history. Horror concepts from multiple albums were used in the décor; fans can rest-assured that this show will only get larger and more impressive at future performances.

KING DIAMOND’s 30+ year musical career is one of the most storied in history of heavy metal, but the tale is not yet over. The most recent release, 2007′s Grammy nominated album Give Me Your Soul…Please, stands as one of the most critically acclaimed albums in an already iconic discography. Future albums will feature entirely new horror stories, concepts, haunting orchestrations, and the band’s signature brand of heavy metal from the mind of KING DIAMOND and the talented group of musicians in tow: Andy La Rocque, Mike Wead, Hal Patino, and Matt Thompson. Many more albums, tours, and ventures lay ahead.

Allegaeon -Formshifter - promo cover pic!

“Now this is metal worth getting excited about… Formshifter has thrown down a gauntlet to metal bands everywhere and dared them to do better” Kerrang Magazine – 4/5

“But the members of Allegaeon are so monstrously talented—see the entwined guitar harmonics, machine-gun drumming, and even the occasional, not insufferably acoustic interlude on the group’s heavily NWOBHM-shaded second LP, Formshifter—that they dig their way out of the doldrums of mere proficiency.” AVClub.com

“The huge walls of crushing low tuned chugging and burning shred passages are awesome, but ultimately it’s the band’s ability of being able to really put together catchy heavy tracks that sets them above the rest of the pack.” About.com

Swedish Metal Sensation CRASHDIET Return With Their Fourth Album “The Savage Playground” – Releasing In January On Frontiers Records

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, sleaze metal with tags , , , , , on December 2, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Crashdiet - The Savage Playground - promo cover pic!

The lead single “Cocaine Cowboys” is out 12th of December

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of CRASHDÏET’s anticipated new studio album “The Savage Playground” on January 25th in Europe (excl. Scandinavia) and January 22nd in North America.

A leading force in the Swedish “sleaze rock” scene of the 2000s — a revival of the glam metal of the 1980s, but with a more pronounced punk element — CRASHDÏET for the first time manage to release their brand of down and dirty Rock and Roll simultaneously all over the world.

In April of 2010 the band’s third album “Generation Wild” pretty much summed up the extraordinary but yet tragic history of a band, determined to never give up their dream. CRASHDÏET has become known as a band with a huge following of diehard fans, and the massive interest for them never seems to fade.

There has been extensive touring during the course of “Generation Wild” and the absolute highlight saw the band conquer Hollywood and New York City with sold out shows at Whisky A Go Go and Webster Hall. The band also supported their heroes Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne. “Supporting Motley Crue in Helsinki and headlining Whisky A Go Go have been the highlights of the Generation Wild tour,” says guitarist Martin Sweet.

Crashdiet - promo group pic - 2012 - #1

CRASHDÏET

Martin Sweet – guitar

Peter London – bass

Eric Young – drums

Simon Cruz – vocals

With the new studio album “The Savage Playground”, recorded during summer/autumn 2012 in native Sweden, the band has their minds set to break through on a world-wide basis with a tour that will see the band going back to the US as well as going to Japan for the first time. “We will put a lot of effort into the US for our new tour. We will start in Scandinavia in February, Then we head to the US & Canada. Coming back end of April to do UK and then Europe and Japan will follow with Festivals in the summer and then South-America to kick off in the autumn” continues Sweet.

The new album sees CRASHDÏET going in a heavier and more live direction musicwise. “THE SAVAGE PLAYGROUND is our playground, it’s the beginning and the end, it’s the place where we eat and breed”, tells Martin Sweet. “We thought the time was right for us to do a edgier and not so polished sounding album, kinda like what we sound like live. It’s more organic and rough sounding. And of course we’re always evolving as musicians and like to try new ways of expressing ourselves and that can most definitely be heard on this album.”

Crashdiet - Cocaine Cowboys - single promo cover pic!

Anticipated by the release of the cracking first single “Cocaine Cowboys” on December 12th, “The Savage Playground” will include the following tracks: Change The World; Cocaine Cowboys; Anarchy; California; Lickin’ Dog; Circus; Sin City; Got A Reason; Drinkin’ Without You; Snakes In Paradise; Damaged Kid; Excited; Garden Of Babylon.

ANA KEFR – Parts Ways With Two Band Members

Posted in Extreme Metal, extreme metal bands, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , on December 1, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Ana Kefr - Large Logo - B&W

Frontman of American extreme prog outfit ANA KEFR (Arabic, “I am Infidel“), Rhiis Lopez, has issued the following statement regarding the recent parting ways with lead guitarist Brendan Moore and drummer Shane Dawson:

“After 3 years of working together, recording the digi-single “Tonight We Watch the Children Fucking Burn” and our critically acclaimed second full-length album “The Burial Tree (II),” we have decided that it would be in the best interests of all involved to let Brendan and Shane pursue their own different musical paths. The reasons all boil down to a conflict of personal interests, but the parting has been on amicable terms and we genuinely wish them the absolute best in their future endeavors. It has been a good ride these past 3 years!

At the moment, ANA KEFR is focused on the future and writing, for a strong return in 2013. We are extremely excited about the new material and can’t wait to share it with everyone!”

ANA KEFR released their second full-length album in 2011, The Burial Tree (II) (Muse Sick), which climbed to #3 best-selling death metal album on Amazon for 2 consecutive weeks – the only independently released album in the top 50. Shortly after the album’s release and a brief American West-coast tour with NEKROGOBLIKON, the band organized and financed their first 32-date nationwide tour, The Zephyr US Tour 2011.

Bringing their unique brand of extreme metal to over half of the continental United States, ANA KEFR subsequently supported SABATON‘s North American release of “Carolus Rex,” and vocalist Rhiis Lopez appeared on “Blessed He With Boils,” the upcoming debut full-length record (December 21, 2012) from cinematic black metal outfit XANTHOCHROID. ANA KEFR completed the cycle of The Burial Tree (II) with a finale performance at the California Metalfest VII festival, alongside KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and others.

The Swedish Heavy Metal blood brothers of ENFORCER recently signed a new worldwide record deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Their new album is called Death By Fire and will be released on February, 1st.

Bandleader, vocalist and guitar player Olof Wikstrand comments: “It feels great to finally have finished this long-awaited third ENFORCER record. Now with Nuclear Blast on board we’re gonna make sure to spread it to every corner of this planet. You can expect nothing but the total, self defining ENFORCER record.”

Nuclear Blast head of A&R, Andy Siry says: “We’ve been following the career of ENFORCER since their debut album, because from there on, they formed the spearhead of a new, young generation of traditionally influenced Metal. We’re impressed by the bands consequent and authentic appearance, whether on stage, concerning their sound, their image and so on. This reminds of the atmosphere of departure and the rebellion, Heavy Metal represented at the beginning of the 80’s. ENFORCER have got that special something, represent their ideals and they know what they want. We’re looking forward to the upcoming CD and a long successful cooperation.”

Sacred Steel - The Bloodshed Summoning - promo cover pic!

SACRED STEEL is..

…Come on! You know who SACRED STEEL is!

What more should be said about them? Do we really need to introduce a band that has been on Metal Blade and Massacre Records, that has released eight full length albums and an additional three EPs?

Let’s just say that the new album is called The Bloodshed Summoning and comes four years after their 2009 release Carnage Victory, but for old and new fans of SACRED STEEL, this one is well worth the long wait.

The Bloodshed Summoning concentrates as  lethal s dose of heavy riffing and aggression as any serious Metal release should be made of, with moments that border on the edge of Thrash Metal.

The Bloodshed Summoning will be released February 16th  2013 through Cruz Del Sur Music on compact disc with three bonus tracks, (including one Misfits cover), limited edition vinyl and digital formats.

DEMON LUNG – Signs To Candlelight Records

Posted in doom metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on November 28, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of DEMON LUNG. The Las Vegas-based quartet, featuring guitarist Phil Burns, bassist Patrick Warren, drummer Jeremy Brenton, and vocalist Shanda Fredrick, is scheduled to begin recording of their full-length debut at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, High on Fire, Eyehategod) in the coming weeks. It is anticipated for a Spring 2013 release date.

Metal Hammer called the band’s self-released 4-song demo Pareidolia, “earthy yet horror-themed doom metal a la Candlemass with an Acrimony Groove.” The magazine calls Fredrick a “wild-eyed, satanic songstress.” Popular music and film site Ave Noctum notes, “DEMON LUNG has a deft touch and solid sound. Their music is clearly from the soul. Fair to say they are a welcomed addition to the ranks of the doomed.” Teeth of the Divine adds, “Fredrick has the requisite sultry pipes that keep a steady, hazy tone. She has a deep, bluesy voice that fits the languid music perfectly.”

The band comments, “we are very honored to join the Candlelight roster. To be included among such talented artists is very humbling, and we thank the great people at Candlelight for giving us the opportunity.”

DEMON LUNG has shared the stage alongside Pentagram, High on Fire, Jucifer, Witch Mountain, and Castle and will resume performing once recording has been completed.

A video for the song “Lament Code’ is available to view at THIS LOCATION. The clip was directed by Dustin Mills, the mastermind behind The Puppet Monster Massacre.
