I went to see NAPALM DEATH with the Melvins last Friday night, at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was the second time I’ve seen NAPALM DEATH during my Metal life. My Metal buddy Troy was with me and we’ve seen many, many shows together. It’s always good times!
We started the evening at Martino’s with some beer and loaded fries, directly across the street from Bogart’s. A big sports bar it is; with exceptional staff and I really dig the place. Once we saw the line begin to file into Bogart’s, we went across the street to get our night ignited by the metal that was to ensue.
NAPALM DEATH tore the atmosphere to shreds with their legendary extreme grindcore metal and nonconformist attitude! I was so very psyched out of my Metal skull! Barney Greenway is a Metal icon. ‘Nuff said, now please enjoy the photos, thank you for stopping by and Metal be thy name.

Napalm Death are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by incorporating elements of crust punk and death metal, using a noise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdrive bass, high-speed tempos, blast beats, and vocals that consist of incomprehensible growls or high-pitched shrieks.
Their music features extremely short songs, fast tempos, and sociopolitical lyrics. Even after exerting an indelible influence on the entire world of heavy music for nearly 40 years, there is still no band on Earth that sounds like Napalm Death. Not just pioneers, but an enduring benchmark for invention and fearlessness in a heavy and experimental music of all kinds, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt.

The Melvins are one of modern music’s most influential bands. Having formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington, the group – founded by vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne, with drummer Dale Crover joining a year later – has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all their own. Over their 40-plus-year career, they’ve released more than 30 original albums, numerous live records, and far too many to count singles and rarities.
Recent releases include 2024’s Tarantula Heart, an album that Osborne wrote songs based on a series of improvisational live sessions, the six-song 2022 Bad Mood Rising, and Five Legged Dog (2021), an ambitious 36-track acoustic collection that reimagines their heaviest songs alongside covers of their favorite artists.

Yup. Napalm Death. Grindcore pioneers. When it comes to Extreme Metal it doesn’t truly get any more extreme. Napalm Death opened for the prolific GWAR, back on November 11th, at Bogart’s in Cincinnati Ohio. It was an evening that made me feel like the world was okay even though it’s not.
My good buddy Troy accompanied me to this wonderful event and the two of us felt very much at home with all of the beautiful insanity around us. Whatever was going on outside the walls of Bogart’s on this night I could’ve given two shits about. Napalm Death was live onstage!
It wasn’t that easy taking photos of Napalm Death. First and foremost, I was on the threshold of the pit and even outside the pit bodies were being tossed about like sacks of potatoes. Using my iPhone for these photos while trying not to get injured was actually fun, in its own demented way.
I was able to catch a couple of photos (above and below) showing drummer Danny Herrera. No, it wasn’t easy to do.
If you’re looking for a set list here, no can do. I survived just 3 songs in the pit and the rest of the time I was thrashing about like a lunatic stepping on fire hot legos. Song titles were not of my concern that night; throwing down was. At my age, I feel very fortunate I was able to throw down at all.
I’m pleased I’ve been able to share these Napalm Death photos and thoughts with you! My passion for Metal was double downed on November 11th, while at this show. Stay safe out there and… Metal be thy name! – Stone
