CREEPING DEATH continues to tour in support of their most recent release The Edge Of Existence EP, out now on MNRK Heavy. With a nod to crossover masters Iron Age, a bit of the tech-death of Cryptopsy, a foundation of forebearers Death, CREEPING DEATH summons a vibrant sound somehow both familiar and fresh. The Edge Of Existence EP further demonstrates the power, fury, and outright revelry at the heart of the band’s identity.

Captured at Homewrecker Recording Studio in Tucson, Arizona and produced and mixed by Ryan Bram (Gatecreeper, Bitter Rivals, Sex Prisoner), the six-song EP introduces three new certified hellraisers — “Relics From The Past,” “Humanity Transcends,” and the title track — alongside remade and revitalized versions of the three songs from the band’s 2016 debut EP — “Sacrament Of Death,” “Doused In Flames,” and “Skinned Alive.”

The Edge Of Existence EP is available on CD, cassette, digital, and vinyl formats at THIS LOCATION.

CARCASS will be touring in support of Surgical Steel, released in September 2013. The record came in at #41 on the US Billboard Top 200 Chart, just narrowly avoiding the dreaded “Top 40 Band” moniker. Even with their impressive back catalogue, Surgical Steel has given the band their highest charting and possibly most critically acclaimed record to date.

Surgical Steel was produced by Colin Richardson (Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, Gorefest, Cannibal Corpse etc.) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Accept, Exodus, Testament). Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in the band’s current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (Aborted, Trigger The Bloodshed) and guitarist Ben Ash (Pig Iron, Desolation, Liquefied Skeleton). Original sticksman Ken Owen contributed guest vocals as well.

CARCASS has released several classic albums over the years, including Decibel Magazine “Hall of Fame” inductees Heartwork and Necroticism – Descanting The Insalubrious, and their influence has changed the face of Extreme Metal with every consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind (Reek Of Putrefaction, Symphonies Of Sickness) or creating the template for Melodic Death Metal (Heartwork), CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken. Upon the band’s dismantling in 1996, fans mourned the loss of the seminal act and longed that the group would return again one day.

In 2007, the Metal world got its wish as CARCASS reformed to play several sold-out reunion shows around the globe. Once again re-motivated to administer a shot of cynicism and infectious riffs into the arm of a sickly Metal scene, founding members Bill Steer and Jeff Walker began writing what would become the latest output of their highly influential career, Surgical Steel. Only the choicest of cuts were made, and blood sweat and tears were shed to bring us a record worthy of the CARCASS legacy. In short, Surgical Steel is just what the doctor ordered.

Decibel Magazine - Carcass - Gorguts - Noisem - 2014 - #2998

Stream Decibel Flexi Now; Band Prepares Record Store Day Release

____________________________

Baltimore Thrash assassins, NOISEM, will undertake their most high-profile tour excursion to date next week, as the young crew hits the road on the third annual Decibel Magazine tour. Set to provide their jacked-up, rabid thrash assault as the opening act of the tour, NOISEM’s set will be followed by each night by performances from massive Metal luminaries Gorguts, The Black Dahlia Murder, and headliners, Carcass.

The three-week venture gets underway on Tuesday, March 18th in Orlando, Florida before blasting westward infiltrating major cities across the US and Canada before the final gig on April 13th in Silver Spring, Maryland, right down the street from the band’s home turf. The trek is preceded by several one-off gigs this weekend including a show in Cleveland with lablemates In Cold Blood and Haymaker followed by two shows with Gorguts and The Black Dahlia Murder.

NOISEM - Large Logo!

This week, the cover of the April issue of Decibel is out, featuring members of all four acts on the magazine’s tour, including NOISEM frontman, Tyler Carnes. Additionally, the band recently completed a new recording entitled “Defiled” for Decibel’s ongoing flexi-series which has been released this week. The 7″ flexi will appear in the May issue of the mag but has been released early in advance of the tour.

Order the new issue of the mag HERE and unload the thrashbanging intensity of “Defiled” RIGHT HERE

Just days after the massive tour comes to a halt, NOISEM will unload another new tune in the form of the Repulsion classic, “Slaughter Of The Innocent,” the track set to appear on a split 7″ with Occultist being devised for release on Record Store Day 2014 via label home, A389 Recordings.

Noisem - Agony Defined - promo cover pic

NOISEM’s bludgeoning debut LP, Agony Defined, overthrew the #9 album of 2013 slot in Decibel’s year-end issue, the mag stating of the album: “Leave it to a group of teenagers from Baltimore to blow the cobwebs off of Thrash Metal and shake the genre at its very foundation… The wellspring of catchy riffs is seemingly endless on Agony Defined; no band employed the whammy bar better in 2013.”

3/16/2014 Zydeco – Birmingham, AL w/ The Black Dahlia Murder, Gorguts

Compiling My 2013 Best Metal Albums List Has Put Me In A Metal Quandary!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags , , , , , , , , on December 28, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Carcass - Surgical Steel - promo cover pic

CARCASS – Surgical Steel

For the past month, I’ve been listening to, re-listening to and debating over which albums will make my “Best Metal Albums Of 2013” list. For clear reasons (to me) this year marks the most difficult time I’ve ever encountered, in compiling this list. I’m in a quandary!! Someone call Dr. Phil or better yet, someone call Black SabbathMotörhead, Carcass, Sodom, Stryper, Satyricon and Satan and tell them ALL they should have never released such amazing milestone Metal albums; especially ALL at once this past year! Um, please, no one tell them that.

Throw in the fact that Witch Cross and Sinister Realm are in the mix with spellbound like True Metal releases in 2013 and I’m on my knees begging for the Metal Gods to help me sort it all out!! Which band’s album gets #1 and why? Which band’s album comes in last on my best of list and for what reason? Rankings super SUCK and I have the urge right now to eat a case of Doritos. Can anyone please kick me in the ass and tell me to stop!?

Motorhead - Aftershock - promo cover pic

Motörhead – Aftershock

Adding to this quandary, is: I believe that any album that makes any “Best Of” album list of mine, equates to either an instant classic or soon to be classic, within our beloved pages of Metal History; at least my pages of Metal History! All of this self-debate and (at times) self-doubt over which best Metal albums I’ve listened to over the year is very important to me. I need a very cold beer right now, from my very cold garage.

Stay tuned. My Metal list will be done eventually. Stone will come through. Hell, my “Best Hard Rock Albums Of 2013” list is already secured in my brain. For some crazy reason, the Hard Rock albums list never drove me even remotely insane. My “Top Ten Songs Of 2013” list went down easier than a Yuengling lager. Go figure. Best Metal Buddy, Scott Coverdale, already has his Best list done and ready to go. I know he struggled with it, though. Ha, ha. Still, he’s the best.

I gather it’s time for me to stop whining and get back to my Metal debate with myself. Once this fun task is complete, I can then begin to listen to what 2014 has in store for my Metal hunger… and look forward to another quandary such as this in a year from now. Metal be thy name.

CARCASS – Disinterred British Extreme Metal legends CARCASS have signed to Nuclear Blast Records for the world excluding Japan! Surgical Steel, the band’s first studio release since their 1996 LP Swansong, was produced by Colin Richardson (NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, GOREFEST, CANNIBAL CORPSE, SINISTER, RODRIGO Y GABRIELA) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, TESTAMENT).

CARCASS has released the following statement regarding their new-found partners in medical deviancy: “We are pleased to announce that we have found the perfect home for Surgical Steel, the first CARCASS album for, what, eighteen years?! We’ve inked a deal with Nuclear Blast for our new baby.

We have to thank Markus Staiger for his enthusiasm and belief in what he heard, but mostly his ability to take advantage of Jeff with a bad hangover when he visited the office in Stuttgart to let him be the first to hear the rough mixes. Nuclear Blast has managed to secure this release despite interest from all the main players in what remains of the metal ‘music industry’.

We’re also looking forward to working with our pals in the US Office, who have done favors for us behind the scenes over the last few years. On a personal note, Jeff looks forward to his and label manager Gerardo Martinez’ friendship to come crashing down in flames and tears in a few months. As long as we don’t mention ‘The War’ we think we’re going to do just fine with our new Teutonic home!

Carcass - Band Promo Pic - 2013 - #1

Commented Nuclear Blast owner and founder Markus Staiger: “One of my all-time favorite UK Metal Bands signed recently to Nuclear Blast – it feels like a dream come true. When Jeff Walker let me listen to the new record I knew immediately that CARCASS made one of their best albums ever! It is a perfect mixture of Heartwork and Necroticism with a massive production to boot. The album is without a doubt just as perfect and lethal as surgical steel itself, and exactly what both old and new fans have waited for eagerly all of these years! I am very proud to say, CARCASS – welcome to the Nuclear family. It is an honor to work with this legendary metal band.”

Adds North American label manager Gerardo Martinez: “First of all, apologies to the many that were wondering where that signing statement was the other day. Well, we didn’t anticipate the prenuptial agreement to take this long but here we are, and about to release to the world what many people said would never happen: a new CARCASS record!

All joking aside, this is a dream come true. All I can say is that even the biggest critic, Señor Walker himself included, will find this to be one of the best CARCASS albums. It already sounds like a classic and I can’t wait for people to hear it. ‘Time to die, die in pain’!!!”

CARCASS has released several classic albums over the years, including Decibel Magazine “Hall of Fame” inductees Heartwork and Necroticism – Descanting the Insalubrious, and their influence has changed the face of Extreme Metal with every consecutive release. Whether it was inventing gore-grind (i.e. Reek of Putrefaction, Symphonies of Sickness) or creating the template for Melodic Death Metal (i.e. Heartwork), CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken.

THE UK’s PREMIERE INDOOR METAL FESTIVAL

______________________________________

As reported by Damnation Festival:

English Extreme Metal legends CARCASS will return to headline the ninth Damnation Festival for their only UK appearance following the release of their first album in 17 years.

The Death and Grind standard bearers have promised another historic set which will feature cult classics alongside unexpected old gems and brand new material when they take the stage at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

And after helping to sell out Damnation Festival in advance back in 2008, guitarist Bill Steer is looking forward to performing to a packed house on their return to the event.

He said: “We’re very excited about the prospect of returning to Damnation Festival this year.

“Our appearance there in 2008 was a major highlight for us and this time around, people can expect to hear a fairly different Carcass set.

“The old favourites will be in there, of course, but we’re also planning to play a couple of the less obvious tracks from our past, as well as songs from the album we’ve just completed. Join us!”Carcass - Band Promo Pic - 2013 - #1

With 22 more bands to be announced across three stages, festival director Gavin McInally, said fans can look forward to the melting pot of diverse styles of music Damnation Festival is known for from Black Metal to Post-Rock.

He added: “It was a coup to land the first UK Carcass show in 13 years in 2008 when fans snapped up every ticket going before we made it to the day itself and it’s another coup having the band return following the release of their first new album in 17 years.

“But even with the mighty Carcass topping the bill, we won’t be satisfied until we’ve pieced together a more challenging and brilliant day of music than the eight successful years we’ve already had the pleasure of hosting, so expect a lot more to come from 2013.”

Tickets for Damnation Festival 2013 are on sale now and will be held at last year’s price of £32 for a limited period.
