AVELION – Italian Progressive Metallers Release New Single “Bound To Blackness”

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news, Power Metal, prog metal music with tags , , , , , , , , , on July 3, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

The flagbearers of modern Italian progressive metal, AVELION, have been churning out bombastic singles for more than a decade, dropping a string of releases that have been helping shape the genre. In 2022, they return with “Bound To Blackness”, the first single recorded with new vocalist Riccardo Rizzardelli.

The song – recorded, produced and mixed by Simone Mularoni – is now available at THIS LOCATION.

“‘Bound To Blackness’ is a song that manages to encompass all the main elements of our music: melody, groove, oddly shifting time signatures, electronics, ambient and cinematic arrangements, as well as dense progressive instrumental sections. We worked very hard in the studio with Simone Mularoni to create a truly original and modern mix, suitable not only for progressive metal fans, but also for power and melodic metal listeners, as well as for djent and modern metal enthusiasts.

We can’t wait to take old fans and new listeners on this journey through the different nuances that make up our sound. The concept of the song is open to each listener’s interpretation, but there is a message of self development and inner growth, which involves awareness, acceptance and finally overcoming our darkest side. It’s a song about fighting your inner nightmares to find yourself. A journey in which acceptance and redemption are to be sought within ourselves”.

Each AVELION release expands and clarifies the band’s mission to bring forth the most dynamic sonic offerings. Marrying progressive and modern metal influences, AVELION approach each song as a unique opportunity to destroy and rebuild the listener’s perception.

Line-up:

Riccardo Rizzardelli – Vocals
Oreste Giacomini – Keyboards
Leonardo Freggi– Guitars
Danilo Arisi – Bass
Alessandro Ponzi – Drums

Mastering by Luca Bottoli

We are all human beings and, as such, we are not infallible”.

Even after four steamy, liver-destroying, gut-stretching decades in the name of heavy metal, there’s no stopping the TANKARD beer crew. Just in time for the celebrations surrounding their fortieth birthday, TANKARD will release their new full-length, Pavlov’s Dawgs, on September 30th. The record marks the band’s remarkable eighteenth album as well as their debut for the new label, Reaper Entertainment.

In advance of the record’s release, today TANKARD reveals first single, “Beerbarians,” proving that even after so many years they’re far from being old hat.

Comments vocalist Gerre: “We’re stoked to release our first single ‘Beerbarians’ — TANKARD-typical humor wrapped in a hard-hitting thrash sound with catchy hooklines. Listening in is mandatory! In this sense: carry the fire!”

View TANKARD’s “Beerbarians” lyric video at THIS LOCATION.

“Beerbarians” is available on all streaming platforms. The matching artwork of the single was created by Cliff Knese.

The taps are polished, the Freibier is flowing, and TANKARD are finally back to what they do best five long years after their last studio album: Thrashing madly, drinking thirstily, and ever so cleverly intertwining metal, humor, and sarcastic social commentary into one big raucous ball of entertainment.

Pavlov’s Dawgs, which was recorded and produced at Gernhard Studio Troisdorf together with producer Martin Buchwalter, will be available on CD, vinyl in various color variants, limited earbook with previously unreleased pictures from the last forty years of TANKARD, and as a limited box set which includes two demos on cassette.

Find all preorders at THIS LOCATION.

RON KEEL BAND – New Single Released! New Video Premiers On July 1st!

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 29, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

“One of the defining songs of my career.” – RON KEEL

Summer 2022 – Ron Keel Band has released their new single “When This Is Over,” from the forthcoming album “KEELWORLD,” via RFK Media and Amplified Distribution. The track is available on all digital and streaming platforms, and also as a limited edition CD single accompanied by a world class music video premiering at BraveWords.com on July 1st.

“I received a very nice email from a fan overseas during the pandemic,” Ron said, explaining the song’s inspiration. “This guy said he loves what we do and can’t wait to see us on tour…when this is over. The song was born in that moment…and the lyrics quickly evolved as an echo of that fan’s hope. In the song, I don’t define what ‘this’ is – it could be World War III or just a bad day at work – but we gotta believe that when this is over, everything’s going to be okay.

“Now just this morning, I got a message from another fan, who had her legs crushed when she was struck by a car. She says this song is now ‘her jam’ and it’s helping her through rehab after one of those legs was amputated. She said when this is over, she’s going to walk again.”

He insists the message behind the song is both timely and timeless and guarantees “When This Is Over” will be on the set list with the Keel classics for all the Ron Keel Band summer shows. RKB joins Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Jackyl, Winger and many others at the RockTember Music Festival in Minnesota this September, and the band will return for their residency at the Full Throttle Saloon during the 82nd annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Other big summer headline concerts include July 16th at Logan’s Wild Hog Run in Cando, North Dakota, September 16th at the King Of Clubs in Columbus, Ohio, and the Field Of Screams Festival in Wabash, Indiana September 17th. The tour will come full circle with their only hometown show of 2022, on New Year’s Eve in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the El Riad Shrine.

“Along with anthems like ‘The Right To Rock’ and ‘Wild Forever,’ ‘When This Is Over’ is one of the defining songs of my career,” Keel insists. The album “KEELWORLD” is set for release in 2023 and includes all new music from Ron Keel Band, KEEL, Steeler, IronHorse, Fair Game, and more.

The “When This Is Over” Limited Edition CD Single contains the master mix (explicit lyrics), an instrumental mix, and the radio mix. Fans can order that disc while supplies last at http://rfkmedia.com.

RIVERS OF NIHIL released The Work last Fall on Metal Blade Records. The band has never fit neatly into a box, but with 2018’s Where Owls Know My Name, they transcended all labels applied to them. Returning in 2021 with The Work, they’ve forged further into new territory, delivering an album that’s as cerebral as it is visceral, and that covers a staggering sonic range, definitively placing them in a category of their own. Inarguably a dense, heavy collection, The Work is far too dynamic to be considered a solely metal record and there is a genuine warmth that shows through, particularly tracks like “Wait” and the gorgeous “Maybe One Day.”

Additionally, the band has incorporated far more clean vocals alongside the screaming that tears through many of the record’s heavier tracks. Courtesy of their friend Zach Strouse, saxophone once again adds extra layers of atmosphere to the collection, utilizing baritone, soprano, and alto saxes to great effect.

JEFF BECK And JOHNNY DEPP – To Release New Album “18” On July 15th

For The 13-Track Collection, The Legendary Guitarist And Hollywood Vampires Co-Founder Record A Range Of Covers That Touch On Motown, The Beach Boys, John Lennon, The Velvet Underground, Killing Joke, And More, Along with Two Depp Original Compositions

First Single, The Depp Original “This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr” Is Out Today

Jeff Beck And Johnny Depp Are Currently On Tour In Europe Through July 25th

LOS ANGELES – Jeff Beck found a kindred spirit in Johnny Depp when the two met in 2016. They bonded quickly over cars and guitars and spent most of their time together trying to make each other laugh. At the same time, Beck’s appreciation grew for Depp’s serious songwriting skills and his ear for music. That talent and their chemistry convinced Beck they should make an album together.

Depp agreed and they started in 2019. Over the next three years, they recorded a mix of Depp originals along with a wide range of covers that touches on everything from Celtic and Motown to the Beach Boys and Killing Joke. In 2020, during the pandemic, they previewed their collaboration with their well-timed cover of John Lennon’s “Isolation.”

The duo’s 13-track album, dubbed 18, will arrive on July 15. Beck explains the album title: “When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again so that just became the album title too.”

18 will be available on CD and digitally, with a 180-gram black vinyl version coming on September 30. The cover features an illustration of Beck and Depp as 18-year-olds that was drawn and designed by Beck’s wife Sandra.

Leading up to the release of 18, Beck has launched a European tour, with Depp as a special guest, which will conclude on July 25 at L’Olympia in Paris.

Credit: Christie Goodwin

For the last 12 years Depp has recorded and toured with the Hollywood Vampires, a band he started with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry. The supergroup has released two studio albums that include guest appearances by some of rock’s biggest names: Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, and Joe Walsh. The list also includes Beck, who played guitar on “Welcome To Bushwackers,” a song on Rise, the Vampires’ second album, which came out in 2019.

Soon after, Depp asked Beck to play lead on a tune he’d written, the album’s first single “This Is A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr,” an homage to the actress/inventor. Beck says it was the catalyst for the collaboration and is one of his favorite songs on the new album. “I was blown away by it,” he says. “That song is one of the reasons I asked him to make an album with me.” The track is available today digitally, along with an accompanying music video. Click here to view now.

Of Beck, Depp adds, “It’s an extraordinary honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the true greats and someone I am now privileged enough to call my brother.”

In the studio, Beck says he and Depp challenged each other to leave their comfort zones with the songs they chose to cover. “I haven’t had another creative partner like him for ages,” Beck says. “He was a major force on this record. I just hope people will take him seriously as a musician because it’s a hard thing for some people to accept that Johnny Depp can sing rock and roll.”

Depp justifies Beck’s faith on the new album by showing off his incredible emotional range on songs like The Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs,” the Everly Brothers’ ballad “Let It Be Me” and Marvin Gaye’s soul classic “What’s Going On.” On the instrumentals, Beck demonstrates why he’s universally revered as a guitar god with stunning versions of Davy Spillane’s “Midnight Walker” and two songs from the Beach Boys’ masterpiece, Pet Sounds – “Caroline, No” and “Don’t Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder).”
