Belgian Melodic Power Metal band IRON MASK is right now putting finishing touches on their brand new album, titled “Diabolica”, which is scheduled for a September 23rd release, via AFM Records.

The following is from the IRON MASK Facebook and written by Dushan Petrossi – guitarist, lyricist, songwriter and writer of orchestral arrangements for IRON MASK:

I am happy and eager to present to you: “Diabolica ‘s line -up”.
 The sixth Iron Mask album, where I, as always, gave it my all to create something that pleases the fans, that I am proud to call my art. 
It is with great honour that I present to you the band!

First of all, 
On bass, the deep sound with a precise hand, Vassili Moltchanov.
 On drums, Heartbeat of the band, the great stick-spinning Master of Groove, Ramy Ali.
 On guitars, orchestration and all music composing and lyrics, yours truly…

Last but not least, for vocals I have worked together with Diego Valdez from Argentina (Electronomicon, Helker). 
After a long search and life twisting events, the band and I decided that only him could give these new songs justice, a new era and a bright future has just began.
 His passion and sound give an extra dimension to the soul of every single song.
 Working with him is a real joy on a high professional and artistic level.
 His voice is in perfect harmony with my music, just as his personality is with mine.

We all hope you enjoy every note on this album.

Albums like Black in Mind (Rage), The Dark Saga (Iced Earth) and Better Than Raw (Helloween) were all blueprints for the making of Among the Dead.

IRON FIRE – Bio

Denmark’s best-selling Power Metal band Iron Fire is still alive and kicking. Sixteen years ago when a new millennium was entered, the Thunderstorm album struck the world, and is today considered a Danish Power Metal cult classic. Seven albums later the band still breathes as vibrantly as ever, and although there’s been various line-up changes, founding member Martin Steene and his sidekick Kirk Backarach pushed the boundaries of the band. In addition to Steene and Kirk, another founding member joined the battlefield, as original drummer Gunnar Olsen rejoined the band in 2015 after 15 years of absence.

Iron Fire is therefore now a three-piece band that still clings to melodic old school Power Metal as it was meant to be played. The music however has not remained still, instead evolving over time: From the dark epic Voyage of the Damned and the Rock n Roll influenced March of the Immortals, to classic power hymns like Wings of Rage. But first and foremost Iron Fire takes Power Metal very literally, as the common denominator in the music is and has always been, power… with a capital P!

The speedy, immensely entertaining and melodic guitar talents of Torsten Ihlenfeld and Milan Loncaric are another HUGE reason to buy Scary Creatures. Unreal. The rhythm section of Antonio Ieva on bass and Dieter Bernert on drums only enhances the maximum Power Metal bliss I’ve been enjoying from this new BRAINSTORM release. Yes, that’s maximum Power Metal bliss!

What a gifted band BRAINSTORM is. There honestly is no filler moments on Scary Creatures, in my Metal opinion. This is a Power Metal album that has excited me from beginning to end! BRAINSTORM has taken me on a non-stop ride into Power Metal paradise! From the title track to Sky Among The Clouds, I honestly cannot believe how intense this album freaking ROCKS!! I will be playing this BRAINSTORM album forever, my Metal brethren!

If you’re a Power Metal loyalist and believe Helloween, Manowar, Doro, Iron Savior and Primal Fear are all gifts from the Metal Gods, you will no doubt become a true believer in BRAINSTORM; that is if you haven’t already. Metal be thy name. – Stone

ORDEN OGAN “Ravenhead” – A Metal Odyssey Album Review

ORDEN OGAN – Arnsberg, Germany’s Power Metal warriors, ORDEN OGAN, released their new 11 song studio album, Ravenhead, this past February 3rd in North America, via AFM Records. Ravenhead is a tremendous follow-up to 2012’s To The End, in my Metal opinion.

With the fittingly titled Orden Ogan, a triumphant symphonic intro with haunting chants, this compelling Ravenhead album begins. The title track kicks in with all the aural power and atmospheric energy that Orden Ogan are so gifted at creating and playing; this experience does not subside throughout the album. I cannot help letting myself being carried away by the layered songs of Ravenhead, Orden Ogan have undoubtedly turned it up a few notches between albums.

Orden Ogan is a band whose albums you must really listen to and absorb, in order to take in every sonic nuance. I swear I hear bagpipes on the song F.E.V.E.R. I believe I do. Plus, as a bonus, Ravenhead can be interpreted as a concept album, if one so chooses to do so. Evil Lies In Every Man has a creepy spoken word intro of what I perceive to be a female elder from the blackest of forests; in other words a witch to my ears? Creepy nonetheless and this song soars with its Power Metal intensity. Ravenhead flows along so very fine, with the last song, Too Soon, being of the rightly chosen, moderate tempo and mood to close the listening experience out with.

Vocalist Seeb is a wonderful listen with his clean vocals and he also plays guitar and keyboards as well. Tobi on lead guitar, Niels on bass and Dirk on drums round out this German Power Metal band that I feel so good writing about. I absolutely love the chorus throughout Ravenhead; this is what makes European Power Metal so incredibly moving!

Orden Ogan represent European Power Metal in such an abundant way; anyone unfamiliar with this genre can tag Orden Ogan as a bullseye for a starting point. There is not only the power behind Ordan Ogan’s impressive Metal on Ravenhead; fascinating bridges lead this listener to such a dynamic listen of vast Metal sounds. Speed, ambience, acoustical, flamenco and symphonic moments, with fist raising guitar solos, European Power Metal guitar tones, and a roof raising rhythm section are all in store for you within the songs on Ravenhead.

I highly recommend Orden Ogan’s Ravenhead to any fan of Power Metal and Metal for that matter; Orden Ogan has created so much to offer here on their new album. Metal be thy name. – Stone

StormHammer (Power Metal – official band page) are going to release their new and fifth album “Echoes Of A Lost Paradise” in the Summer of 2015, via MASSACRE RECORDS!

The band, hailing from Munich, Germany, has been around since 1993 and recently introduced the new band members Jürgen Dachl (vocals), Bernd Intveen (guitar) and Chris Widmann (drums).

Influenced by their previous work in other Metal bands, the sound of STORMHAMMER will change a little bit!

SCANNER sure aren’t strangers in the Metal scene, since they’ve been around since the mid-80’s!

SCANNER had a few bumps in the road of their journey so far, but that didn’t stop them from doing their thing! SCANNER always existed, even when there were false rumors circulating regarding the band’s status.

The band can look back on an impressive live history, including numerous live gigs worldwide, European tours and appearances at festivals, such as Germany’s Wacken Open Air.

From 1988 ’til 2002, SCANNER released 5 albums so far and now – almost 13 years after the release of their latest album “Scantropolis” – the band is back with a new record!

The band’s brand new album is entitled “The Judgement”! The cover artwork’s been created by Anestis Goudas.

The idea behind the album is that the Scanner has returned to earth to see what religion has done to mankind. He also asks himself how a society would evolve if there wouldn’t be any religion at all. Would it be possible to live in peace?

The new album promises to feature true and uncompromising Power Speed Metal! There will be catchy songs like the album’s title track, but also songs that will have you chanting and singing along and even high-speed Metal tracks.

SCANNER’s new album “The Judgement” is planned to be released in late January 2015 via Massacre Records!

HELLOWEEN – FESTIVAL SUMMER 2014 COMPLETED, STUDIO SESSION BEGINS!

After successfully concluding their world-tour in support of the 2013 output Straight Out Of Hell, the party has been concluded upon the festival summer.

Clearly no time to sit back and relax, as the pumpkin heads will be heading right for their very own MiSueno Studios, located on the isle of Tenerife to start working on the successor of Straight Out Of Hell in October. Joining the band to handle production duties will be long-term companion Charlie Bauerfeind. The new album which is set for a release in May 2015 will be the first since HELLOWEEN have inked a new deal with old label home Nuclear Blast, where they released two albums – The Dark Ride (2000) and Rabbit Don’t Come Easy (2003), both of which have been re-issued with extended bonus material in 2013.

Last but not least, HELLOWEEN would like to send out a big “Thank You” to all the Helloween Maniacs worldwide with some live impressions of the title track of the charting success Straight Out Of Hell turned out to be, landing on a sensational #4, their highest German chart entry to date, holding this position for five long weeks. Additionally they made another five Top ten entries in Europe and also cracked the US Billboard Charts.

First official CD reissue of the same titled JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR studio album from 1989 (so-called “Orange Album”), will be released by Skol Records on September 12, 2014. The album has been remastered from the original studio tapes, and includes all 13 tracks from that recording session, for the first time ever. Package will include thick booklet, and brand new exclusive artwork painted by Alexander Von Wieding (MANILLA ROAD, CLOVEN HOOF, RAZOR etc.). First 500 copies will be available as Double Disc Edition (2CD), incl. complete live album recorded at the legendary KEEP IT TRUE FESTIVAL in Germany (mixed and mastered by Tarek Maghary of MAJESTY), with some of the best JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR songs in live versions, performed by the current BURNING STARR line up feat. musicians known from VIRGIN STEELE, MANOWAR, JOE LYNN TURNER BAND and CRYSTAL VIPER.

Jack Starr’s BURNING STARR, is an American Power Metal band formed in 1985 by the ex VIRGIN STEELE member and guitar wizard Jack Starr. After doing 4 classic albums in the ’80s: “Rock The American Way” (1985) “No Turning Back!” (1986), “Blaze Of Glory” (1987) and “Jack Starr’s Burning Starr” (same titled, so-called “orange album” from 1989), the band returned with a new line up feat. Jack Starr (guitar), Ned Meloni (bass guitar, ex JOE LYNN TURNER band, ex DEVIL CHILDE and PHANTOM LORD), Kenny Rhino Earl (drums, ex MANOWAR) and Todd Michael Hall (vocals, also in RIOT V), and released the well received comeback album titled “Defiance” in 2009. Two years later the band established their position on the market as of one of the best US Power Metal acts with their next studio album, titled “Land Of The Dead”. UNISONIC – New Video From Heavy Metal Supergroup Now Playing At Metal Insider; Band To Release “Light Of Dawn” Full-Length Via Armoury Records Next Month

Exceptional, the new video from Heavy Metal supergroup, UNISONIC, is currently playing at Metal Insider. The song comes by way of the band’s forthcoming new full-length, Light Of Dawn, set for release in North America next month.

UNISONIC boasts a royal lineup of former Helloween vocalist Michael Kiske and guitarist Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray, also ex-Helloween) alongside guitarist Mandy Meyer (Asia, Gotthard, Krokus), bassist Dennis Ward and drummer Kosta Zafiriou (both of Germany’s Pink Cream 69).

Spring of 2014 saw UNISONIC produce the twelve new tunes that comprise sophomore offering, Light Of Dawn, all of them performed with surgical precision and punctuated by Kiske’s world-class vocals. “Our first world tour has really welded us together,” Kiske notes of the group’s unmistakable evolution. “The touring made us realize the importance of a congenial atmosphere for our creativity and how much I missed this team spirit over the past twenty years. Only musicians who feel really comfortable with each other can deliver their optimum performance.” Dennis Ward, a driving force within the unit, one of its main composers and as on 2012’s self-titled debut, its producer, agrees: “At the end of the day, you have to tour to get immediate fan reactions to your material. In this respect, the shows were very interesting and extremely encouraging. There’s no doubt that they gave UNISONIC enough energy to make working on Light Of Dawn child’s play for everybody involved.”
