CINDERELLA – Any 80’s headbanger and/or Classic Rock aficionado who has seen Cinderella live during any decade knows just how fantastic a live band they are! Collectors Dream Records has released Stripped, a collection of 16 live hits from Philadelphia’s treasured Heavy Rock ‘N Roll band. The songs were recorded over the course of two nights at the Key Club, in Hollywood, during Cinderella’s “Unfinished Business” tour.
The shows took place on October 2nd and 3rd, of 1998, featuring the original Cinderella line-up, with vocalist Tom Keifer out front, along with guitarist Jeff LaBar, drummer Fred Coury and bassist Eric Brittingham. Two bonus tracks (Sick For The Cure & Make Your Own Way) were recorded live in 1991.
Tom Keifer’s sandpapered vocals sound (per usual) fabulous and the band charges out their killer hard and heavy, bluesy Rock ‘N Roll; Cinderella Rock ‘N Roll that is now considered timeless, in my Metal opinion. Even though I’ve wished and waited for a new studio album to come from Cinderella, twenty years to be exact, their back catalog celebrated live on this Stripped album, still sounds more relevant than ever, to me.
This revisit to enjoying live Cinderella from 1998 and ’91 certainly takes me on a feel-good memory trip. Just listening to these guys jam on this album only solidifies my appreciation for the music they’ve created. Metal be thy name. – Stone

MACH22 – The self-released debut album, Sweet Talk Intervention, from Philadelphia’s MACH22 launched on May 6th and it’s a whiz-bang, dandy of a good-times Hard Rockin’ listen! With so many young Hard Rock bands not igniting my adrenaline these last few years, it’s refreshing to exclaim that: MACH22 – Sweet Talk Intervention is Stone’s Metal Pick Of The Day!
There’s truly no moments on this album that are remotely near average. Between vocalist Lamont Caldwell and lead guitarist Sebastian LeBar, with the rest of this ultra-talented band in-between, Sweet Talk Intervention is a Hard Rock album I can listen to repeatedly without feeling like I’ve had enough. With BIG guitars, soulful and truly memorable vocals, coupled with body inducing GROOVES, this is an album and band that YOU NEED to get your senses wrapped around!
MACH22 is a band that has undeniable eye-popping Hard Rockin’ chemistry and it’s all proof positive from my listening to their debut album. MACH22 stands above the crowded field of up and coming Hard Rock bands due their unique ability to bridge the gap between Classic Rock and Hard Rock of 2014. There is so much relevance and Hard Rock substance happening within the songs on this album that it’s actually bewildering to me. My favorite song? Try the entire album. Metal be thy name. – Stone

May 6, 2014 – New York, NY – Joe Satriani will return to the east coast for three special appearances this June to celebrate the release of both, his career-spanning box set, Joe Satriani: The Complete Studio Recordings and his first-ever autobiographical memoir, “Strange Beautiful Music: A Musical Memoir” (benbellabooks.com).
The first of these three shows finds Satriani returning to his hometown, playing The Space at Westbury in Long Island on June 7th. This will be Satriani’s first appearance on Long Island in a number of years and the anticipation level is high. The following Monday, in honor of Les Paul’s 99th birthday, Joe and his band will perform a 2-hour concert at the Iridium in NYC, the home of Les Paul’s legendary, weekly performances for many years. This event will be recorded for a fall 2014 PBS TV Special called “Front & Center”. Lastly, Joe and the band will wrap their brief east coast run with a stop in Ridgefield, CT for a show at The Ridgefield Playhouse.

Joe Satriani: The Complete Studio Recordings, a career-spanning 15-CD library box, including the most comprehensive anthology to date, is also available as a collectible limited edition USB drive, exclusively on satriani.com. The entire collection on the USB will be in 24-bit/96kHz “High-Resolution Audio”. HRA offers Joe’s audiophile fans higher resolution in bandwidth, wider dynamic range, greater detail, and more depth than a conventional CD. The HRA recordings are as close as a fan can get to both the early 1/2″ analog masters and the later high sample rate digital masters. All albums have been re-mastered specifically for HRA delivery by John Cuniberti.
The press response to the career-spanning box set and book have been tremendous with The Hollywood Reporter noting, “Joe Satriani is recognized as one of the greatest guitarists in the world,” while USA Today calls him, “(Satriani)…the raging maestro whose 1987 instrumental Surfing With the Alien won him ax-god status, who channeled every guitarist the Rolling Stones ever had while touring with Mick Jagger in 1988 and who most recently helped classic rock supergroup Chickenfoot race up the charts…”
One of the most influential and respected instrumental rock guitarists to emerge in the past three decades, Joe Satriani is that rare “musician’s musician” who’s crossed over into the mainstream with music that is both sublime and complex, appealing to a wide variety of tastes.
Joe Satriani: The Complete Studio Recordings presents brand-new digital masters, overseen by Joe Satriani, with each CD packaged in a replica cardboard jacket. The library collection is housed in a specially designed clamshell box with a booklet filled with photos and memorabilia from across the decades.
Joe Satriani: The Complete Studio Recordings is the ideal audio accompaniment to “Strange Beautiful Music: A Musical Memoir,” Satriani’s autobiography (benbellabooks.com), coming out May 6th.

DAISIES FANS STAND UP TO FACEBOOK IN THE NAME OF ART!
As reported by The Dead Daisies:
As all our Dead Daisies fans know, we love skulls. We endeavour to find the coolest skulls the internet has to offer and share them with everyone on our Facebook page. Last Saturday we posted a photo of a human skull. It was created by seven women covered in body paint, lying down to form the shape of a skull. It was a modern interpretation of Salvador Dali’s masterpiece ‘In Voluptas Mors’.
The photo was a received extremely well, with huge appreciation, only to have it removed by Facebook with their reason being that it “didn’t follow the Facebook Community Standards”.
See image below…
Not knowing whether Facebook realised that this was in fact an interpretation of Dali’s masterpiece, we then posted an image of the original masterpiece, which included an image of Dali, and asked the fans if they deemed the image to be of offensive/inappropriate nature.
The comments poured in, with thousands of fans sharing their absolute disbelief that such great art was banned. But alas, Facebook stepped in AGAIN, and removed the image, even after all of the support on the post.
We then decided to research these ” Facebook Community Standards”, and came across the following:
After reading this, it is abundantly clear that we have NOT in anyway, breached their guidelines as we have not shared any explicit sexual content, and have shared a significant art piece by one of the greatest artists of our time.
The Dead Daisies are big believers in freedom of speech and do not want to sit quietly while Facebook exercise unjust and inconsistent censorship.
It makes us ask, what should be deemed acceptable and what is unacceptable when there are thousands of images and videos of violence, racism, sexism, and hate that circulate daily?
We want to take a stand for the arts, and we need you to help!!
Today we want everyone to post either of the images we posted on Facebook to their personal or artist page, and use the hashtag #DaisiesLiveForArt.
Let’s rally together (peacefully!), and make a stand for good art!
“Styx’s high-water mark…one of the greatest albums in Rock history.”
_______________________________
Camarillo, CA – Styx fans rejoice with the release of the band’s critically acclaimed album ‘Paradise Theater’ on limited numbered Hybrid SACD by Marshall Blonstein’s Audio Fidelity. Styx’s 10th album, the 1981 release, ‘Paradise Theater’ was the band’s fourth consecutive triple-platinum album. A resounding success, ‘Paradise Theater’ was their greatest commercial triumph and their only #1 album. It remains one of the best examples of the convergence between progressive rock and AOR which typified the arena rock sound of the top groups of the late-seventies and early-eighties such as Journey, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick and Kansas.
Styx was a great group of talented musicians – Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw, James Young, Chuck Panozzo and John Panozzo. The album included three Billboard Hot 100 hits, “The Best of Times,” “Nothing Ever Goes As Planned” and “Too Much Time on My Hands”, considered among Tommy Shaw’s finest singles ever. Another track, “Rockin’ The Paradise” reached #8 on the Top Rock Track Chart.
The concept album is a fictional account of Chicago’s Paradise Theatre from its opening to closing, used as a metaphor for America’s changing times from the late 1970s into the 1980s.

MOUNT SALEM is a four-piece psychedelic rock/doom metal band. They started writing music together in the summer of 2012 and released their first debut EP, Endless, in the Spring of 2013. Taking influence from the likes of Black Sabbath and Pentagram, MOUNT SALEM play loud, heavy rock ‘n’ roll using all vintage gear. Throwing their own twist of dark, mysterious doom into their summonings, MOUNT SALEM systematically pull listeners into their sinister realm of sound; their lyrical imagery serving as a ride all its own. Metal Blade Records signed the band in the Summer of 2013 and recently released an extended version of Endless containing two additional, brand-new tracks.
Critical Praise:
“Whether you’re a fan of psychedelic rock, stoner rock or doom metal, there’s a little something for everybody on Mount Salem’s ‘Endless.'” – Loudwire
“Debut album, Endless, is an absolute monolith of a record that combines the sludgy, droning guitars of Iommi’s finest vintage with Emily’s shimmering vocals and epic Jon Lord-style organ rushes. It’s retro, yes, but it also sounds too exciting to be dismissed as simply revisionism.” – Metal Hammer
Fans of Saxon and Skid Row that live throughout Europe and the UK should be psyched; this Warriors Of The Road World Tour runs from the end of October through mid-December of 2014! Metal be thy name.
Look for KIX – Steve Whiteman (lead vocals), Jimmy Chalfant (drums, vocals), Ronnie Younkins (guitars), Brian Forsythe (guitars) and Mark Schenker (bass)—to release their first new album in almost two decades on July 22, thanks to their new partnership with Loud & Proud Records. What makes the project even more exciting and anticipated is that the album features the band’s original line-up, with the exception of Schenker on bass.
“The boys and I are so happy that our old friend, Tom Lipsky, has invited us to join the Loud & Proud family,” exclaims Whiteman. “We worked with Tom and Madelyn Scarpulla on our last studio album, SHOW BUSINESS, and we’re looking forward to working with them again with the release of the first new KIX album in almost 19 years! We’ll still be coming to a dump near you very soon!”
Loud & Proud Owner & President Tom Lipsky adds, “What I have always loved about KIX is they make rock ‘n roll fun. What I love about their new music is that it’s pure, genuine KIX music, straight up guitar rock with no compromise. They’re not chasing trends or trying to re-invent themselves. They’re simply doing what they do best…and now they can do it Loud and Proud!”
Marking the re-emergence of KIX in early-2000’s, the band had teamed up a few times a year to test the waters with reunion shows in Maryland/Pennsylvania, which were very well received. Then in the summer of 2008, KIX performed outside the mid-Atlantic for the first time in 13 years at two of the biggest rock festivals in the U.S. Rocklahoma in Pryor, OK and Rock the Bayou in Houston, TX. The band was hailed by many music websites and attendees as “Best Performance” at both festivals, where they played alongside Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Tesla, Queesryche, Ratt, and more.
As the demand for new music has never subsided and in fact has only increased over the last few years, the band decided that they can no longer ignore the overtures from their fans and are currently recording new KIX songs. The new album, due out summer 2014, is produced by Taylor Rhodes, who last worked with KIX on 1991’s HOT WIRE album. Rhodes has also written hit songs for Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne and Journey.
Stay tuned for new album news, which will be announced in the coming weeks, and check out KIX on tour at any of the following stops (with more to be announced soon):

An Evening with TERRY BOZZIO North American Tour 2014
Los Angeles, CA – Drum legend Terry Bozzio, known for his work with Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, UK and his critically acclaimed solo ventures, celebrates the 50th anniversary of his first drum lesson with “An Evening With Terry Bozzio” coast-to-coast North American tour! During the course of this tour, Terry Bozzio will hit over 40 cities from San Diego to Jacksonville to Montreal to Vancouver to Los Angeles and everywhere in between. This will be a night of solo drumming and include compositions from throughout his career, as well as improvisation. It is by no means a clinic or a workshop. Enjoy an intimate evening of Terry Bozzio and his monster sculpture of a drum kit together for the first time in seated venues across North America.
“TERRY BOZZIO – An Evening of Solo Drum Music” is a unique, intense, dynamic, spiritualistic, melodic, orchestral, atmospheric, and musical performance on the largest tuned drum & percussion set in the world. Unless you have seen Terry, you have no idea what you are in for. Bozzio is an enigmatic, evocative, and engaging musician whose instrument just happens to be the drums. Terry Bozzio is able to accompany himself with bass note patterns and, at the same time, melodically solo on top with highly developed coordination skills to express a complete musical statement on the drum set alone. Drawing from jazz, classical, & ethnic percussion styles from around the world, Terry Bozzio is “a storyteller,” able to weave a hypnotic spell over audiences and enthrall them with an eclectic experience filled with contrast, variety, intimacy, excitement, & passion.
Terry has had tremendous success with his last two Terry Bozzio solo drum performance tours in Europe (2012 included his headline show at the Jazz Festival Frankfurt – the oldest jazz festival in the world – and 2013 which included sold out performances in Sweden, Germany, Eastern Europe, and France). Please note that this is not a bombastic 2 hour drum solo. This is MUSIC on drums, “an evening with Terry Bozzio.” In most of Bozzio’s works, he accompanies himself with bass lines while soloing over it melodically on the tuned toms. There is space, classical forms & structures, ambient electronic loops, and atmospheric percussion effects, as well as some exciting & fiery drumming that brings audiences to their feet!

In other news, Over the last four decades, drummer Terry Bozzio has built an extraordinary legacy based on his unique approach to rhythm and the diverse and acclaimed recordings to which he’s contributed. On April 18, 2014 he’ll go beyond genres into new mediums with the release of an art collection titled [RHYTHM] + [SKETCH]. Available exclusive at www.terrybozzioart.com, the collection is a fusion of artwork crafted over the last three decades mixed with new abstract visuals made from capturing rhythm.
A project that began a year ago, [RHYTHM] + [SKETCH] is a highly limited release of artwork on canvas. The collection’s visuals are a unique fusion of ink sketches Bozzio has made throughout his career, as well as his take on the new medium of rhythm-on-canvas, a process of creating abstract artwork through the documentation of rhythmic performance and light movement. To build the collection, Bozzio joined Los Angeles art team SceneFour in the creation process. SceneFour is the team responsible for the rhythm-on-canvas movement, working exclusively with the world’s finest drummers to craft abstract artwork from performance. “Terry’s collection is a remarkable step forward. His style is so unique that once captured the arcs and techniques he’s mastered become crystal clear to a discerning viewer,” SceneFour’s Co-Founder Cory Danziger states. “The fusion of Terry’s sketches into the rhythmic creations is a natural. His work behind the kit has similarities to the artwork done by hand. It’s very telling of how his creativity is consistent even as it crosses platforms.” In total, twelve different works are featured in Bozzio’s collection, with a limited number of each piece available to the public on April 18, 2014. Each piece is numbered and signed individually by Bozzio.
To join the interest list to learn more and see it before the release, sign up at www.terrybozzioart.com. Terry’s stage setting for his upcoming solo drum tour will include large pieces of his [RHYTHM] + [SKETCH] work as a backdrop on the stage.
“I just want to make music on the drums.” – Terry Bozzio
Massachusetts hellions, GOZU, will take their riffs overseas next week for their first-ever European takeover! Set to begin at the legendary Roadburn Festival, the band will wage a full-on volume ambush through ten select locales in the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia and Italy, concluding with a performance at Desertfest in Berlin.
GOZU will be touting the fruit of their The Fury Of A Patient Man full-length released last Spring via Small Stone. The self-produced ten track monster earned widespread praise for its Chris Cornellian vocal swells and robust, heavy rock swagger. Describes The Big Takeover of the release, “Besides wielding bruising riffs like katanas, the Cambridge, Massachusetts quartet shows an impish sense of pop culture humor with titles like ‘Charles Bronson Pinchot,’ ‘Disco Related Injury’ and the Welcome Back, Kotter referencing ‘Signed, Epstein’s Mom.’ But the primary reasons GOZU stomps most pot smoking riffmeisters into the ground are their two frontdudes. Guitarist Doug Sherman maintains a melodic touch even as his amps scream for mercy, and singer Marc Gaffney exudes as much soul as bravado.”
_____________________________
Adds MetalSucks, “GOZU play the tunes on their sophomore album with a pair of great grizzled gonads. We’re talking balls, people, some truly tremendous twin testes. The kind so deeply and scraggily forested that those epic ball-beards have epic ball-beards; the kind that require a high quality wide-angle lens to get any real perspective on… At times, The Fury Of A Patient Man plays like a de-progged Mastodon after a dozen successful anger management sessions, or a laid back King Giant. The consistently competent delivery, the thick lowdown chords, dynamic proficiency and attention to density all point that direction. It’s the kind of heavy rock that just about anybody can enjoy over a few foamy brews in a hazy basement bar on a Saturday night. And when your date agrees to take the evening back to your place, you can even pretend she’s thinking of you the whole time.”
A special deluxe edition of The Fury Of A Patient Man was recently released via Small Stone in celebration of the upcoming European journey. Limited to 500 copies, the 2XLP set comes on 180-gram wax with a wide spine jacket, poly-lined sleeve, and two colors – LP one is “clear green” while LP two is “solid purple.” Sides one, two and three feature tracks from the original album, while side four offers up exclusive vinyl-only numbers with one original tune (“Break You”) and GOZUed renditions of Simply Red’s “Holding Back The Years” and D’Angelo’s “Shit, Damn, Motherfucker.”

Equally, we look forward to co-op’ing with the roster from Emerald Media & Marketing to create a diverse pool of resources and opportunities for all involved.” – Bill Chavis
Further details will be released shortly on collaborative projects.
It took Rolling Stone 40 years to finally discover the greatness of KISS. That should be a ground-breaking embarrassment to this magazine. Hell, it only took a hiccup for Rolling Stone to know who Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was; he made the cover of Rolling Stone before KISS did. That’s pathetic. With an unsuccessful bid to glamorize Dzhokhar Tsarnaev behind them, Rolling Stone still goes about their way, as if they’re the authority on pop culture, politics and world affairs.
As a lifelong KISS fan, it’s bitter-sweet for me to see that they’re on the cover of Rolling Stone. I guess once you’re accepted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Rolling Stone wants a piece of the popularity pie. If you minus the KISS cover and KISS feature story from this issue, the remaining magazine can be useful for cat litter box liner.

When Pantera’s Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell formed their supergroup Damageplan, the result was unfortunately 1 studio album: New Found Power. The late Dimebag Darrell is ultra-blazing on guitar, while Pat Lachman (vocals), Bob Zilla (bass) and of course, drummer Vinne Paul all lash out some of the most amazing Metal that was released in 2004.
I recently combed Amazon.com to see what New Found Power is selling for. Are y’all ready? Try: $42.72 (U.S.) as a new (unopened) CD. Yup. Guess what else? There were NO used copies of New Found Power for sale on Amazon.com. I consider myself lucky, for I bought this Damageplan CD (new) a few years ago, at f.y.e for about $18.00 (U.S.). In Metal conclusion, the physical CD of Damageplan New Found Power is out of print.

Apparently, if you have an enormous arrow, um, cross/devil tail on your back, which is pointing straight down to your fanny… then life must be very, very eventful for you. All kidding aside, I bought this sophomore CD, Going To Hell, by The Pretty Reckless due to its cover. Oops, I meant due to its Hard Rock. Besides, listening to this CD makes me feel like there truly is a young generation of Rockers that really do get it. Metal be thy name.
Stone Says: WHOA! What a KISS bounty!! I won’t even bother to pre-order, cause I know I won’t be able to afford KISSTERIA. It’s all good though, just looking at what’s in this Anvil Road Case is enough to make me wanna spread the Metal word! This is KISS Kollectible news too good to pass up! Metal be thy name and KISS Forever!!

Yay, it’s Friday! TGIF and have a drink on me! All the while, our world is going to hell in a fiery, out-of-control basket. Whatever y’all do, make certain to FILTER the news you read and watch. We are ALL receiving misinformation constantly from the 24/7 news networks, internet and print media. Need proof of this? Just tune into the coverage of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Sad.
The talking mannequins on television only give a shit about RATINGS and how they look on camera; therefore, it’s the Dewey Defeats Truman philosophy of journalism that we must unfortunately live with, from yesterday and today’s news outlets.

Now on to some better news… which is… music. Take a look below at the super-cool concert flyer for SKID ROW and BLACK STAR RIDERS! Whoa!! Two gigs coming-up, this May in California! Whoa!!
As I do (loyally) utilize the vast social network known as Twitter, I found this exceptional quote, (below), from a historically legendary dude whose name is Alphonse De Lamartine. The NAMM Twitter account posted this quote and I snagged it for my post. Yup.
In the event you don’t know who this dude was, here’s a lightning-quick history lesson: Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine was a French writer, poet and politician. Alphonse was born on October 21, 1790, in Mâcon, France and died in Paris, France, back on February 28, 1869.

Just in case you’ve just woken up from sleeping through these past several days, KISS and Def Leppard will be touring together this Summer.
By now, y’all are wondering why Stone slapped the album cover for PEARL JAM Ten, on the top of this post. Answer: I bought the CD of Ten, yesterday at Best Buy for $3.99 (U.S.). Not a bad price for a tried and true Rock classic. I’ve forever owned Ten on cassette, thus an upgrade was essential. Pearl Jam’s Ten has grown on me over the years, that’s for certain. Metal be thy name.
