KISS - Mini-Lunch Box - ornament - frontside!

KISS KOLLECTIBLES – That’s it at the top! That’s my really cool KISS mini lunch box Christmas ornament! I was fortunate enough to have received this KISS Kollectible as a Christmas gift from my family, along with the KISS PEZ gift tin. I’m going to keep the paper tag attached to this whiz-bang KISS Kollectible; the klassic KISS logo on that paper tag makes it too difficult to take off and throw away!

Here’s what the other side of this KISS mini lunch box looks like:

Relocation Is On The Horizon For Stone… What’s Next For Metal Odyssey?

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on January 2, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

MetalOdyssey

I did mention back in the Fall of 2012 (both here and on twitter) that my family and I were in the beginning phases of relocating to Ohio. It’s time to report that we are now in the mosh pit of relocating. Things are crazy around here with schedules, packing and basically uprooting our lives to another state. My love and commitment to my family has and always shall be #1, while my everlasting devotion to Metal will never exit my soul.

From now until the beginning days of March (2013) there may not be as many posts launched on Metal Odyssey that you are normally used to. Days and perhaps (worst case scenario) weeks may go by without seeing a new feature or post launched on this site. In the meantime, there will be posts launched throughout January and the archives of Rock N’ Metal will forever be at your reach; right here at Metal Odyssey. Please enjoy them, any or all!

_______________________________________

During the down periods of posting on Metal Odyssey, I will make every attempt to get on twitter to communicate my Metal thoughts and non-sensical blab to the world! You can always communicate to me on twitter, 24/7 and I will be grateful for your Metal support.

Here’s where you can follow and/or leave a message for (me) Stone on twitter; just copy and paste into your browser: https://twitter.com/metalodyssey

* The Metal Odyssey contact email will not change! Bands, PR, Record Companies and Metal Buddies can always reach me (in the meantime) via my email, by clicking on this link below:

*Want your music reviewed or to be interviewed by Stone?

I extend my sincerest Metal apologies to everyone for this temporary curve in the Metal road and promise to all of you that Metal Odyssey is NOT closing Metal shop! In fact, Metal Odyssey will once again be back for the Metal attack… and there’s no looking back! Plus, I have a ton of writing to do still once I jump in full-tilt for Hard Rock Nights. Ring that relocation bell and tell all the posers to go straight to hell. Metal be thy name.

YOU come to Metal Odyssey cause YOU are a DEFENDER OF THE FAITH and YOU ROCK.

THANK YOU, TO ALL MY METAL BRETHREN.

Heavy Rockin’ Blasts From The Past: Paul Stanley, Covered Call and Thunder – 3 Albums You Must Know About!

HEAVY

ROCKIN’

BLASTS FROM

THE PAST!

________________________________________________

Metal Odyssey’s Scott Coverdale Reports:

Here are three Pre 2012 Albums you should check out! Throughout 2012 I was fortunate to get my hands on lots of great music both new and old.  Listed below are 3 standout albums that eluded me during their original year of release. For all the Hard Rock/Metal fans out there, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some truly great music!!

Paul Stanley - One Live KISS - DVD promo cover pic!

Paul Stanley – One Live Kiss

This live album from Paul Stanley came out in 2008. I have to admit, that I’ve never been a big KISS fan. There are many of their songs that I do like, only I’ve always felt that they’re a bit over the top as a band. Anyway, a few months ago I was curious to hear how Destroyer (Resurrected) was going to sound. When I typed KISS onto my iTunes account, all the KISS albums displayed and this Paul Stanley album caught my eye. I sampled a few tunes and thought it wasn’t half bad. I did a little research and discovered that this Live album is only available on iTunes or DVD. I made the purchase! Man O’ Man, does this album Rock!!! It’s a great mix of Classic KISS and solo Paul Stanley.

Covered Call - Money Never Sleeps - promo cover pic!

Covered Call – Money Never Sleeps

Money Never Sleeps came out in 2009. Just like the Paul Stanley album, I stumbled upon this Covered Call album on iTunes and gave it a sample. I really liked what I heard and bought it! When I listen to Money Never Sleeps, many of the songs remind me a lot of the good ones Bon Jovi put out in the 80’s and 90’s. My favorite songs are, Til’ the EndNothing at All and What about Us.

Thunder - Robert Johnson's Tombstone - promo cover pic!

Thunder – Robert Johnson’s Tombstone

Robert Johnson’s Tombstone came out in 2006. I really dig this album, it’s (kind of) a Southern Hard Rock album recorded by a band that doesn’t get enough credit here in the States. If you like the Jammin that Southern Rock offers you won’t be disappointed with the song Don’t Wanna Talk about Love, which is probably my favorite song on Robert Johnson’s Tombstone.

In my humble opinion, if you’re looking to spend a few Christmas dollars on yourself this new year, any one of these albums surely won’t disappoint!

Metal Odyssey – Scott Coverdale Picks His Top Ten Metal Albums Of 2012!

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, heavy metal albums, Metal, metal music, Music, Power Metal, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 29, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Unisonic - Logo!!

Another year has come and gone. Man, am I getting old. I, Scott Coverdale, am pleased to reveal my much-anticipated Top 10 Metal Albums of 2012.  As always, it’s a grueling process and I’m glad it’s over. I think I switched my top 5 about 15 times! Now for my picks…

Unisonic - cover promo pic!!

#1

UNISONIC – S/T

This album caught me by complete surprise. I happened to be sampling music on the internet a couple of months ago and I came across this debut album from Unisonic. I was hooked from the very first song! Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen, together in the same band. Whoa, I need not say any more. This entire album rocks.

MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD - A Sinner's Saint - promo cover pic!!

#2

MILLION $ RELOAD – A SINNER’S SAINT

I never heard of Million $ Reload, until Stone hooked me up with this CD of theirs earlier this past Summer. A Sinner’s Saint was one of my most listened to CDs of the year. An album that’s solid from beginning to end.

Iron Maiden - En Vivo! - Large Promo Cover Pic!!

#3

IRON MAIDEN – EN VIVO

I became an Iron Maiden junky this past year. There is very little in the music world that can be better than Iron Maiden live in person or recorded. Live versions of Blood Brothers and When The Wild Wind Blows back to back is worth the purchase alone.

Jackyl - Best In Show - Large Promo Cover Pic!

#4

JACKYL – BEST IN SHOW

Over the past 20 years I never really became a fan of Jackyl, however, I am a big fan of this album! Jackyl really put out a kick ass “Fun Rockin” album this past year!!

Slash - Apocalyptic Love - promo cover pic!

#5

SLASH – FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS

APOCALYPTIC LOVE

I definitely think this is the best work to date from Slash. I had a chance to see Slash and Myles Kennedy in Beirut this past Summer; only I didn’t go. Instead I went to the Casino Du Liban. I should have rethought that decision; I ended up getting yelled at by a couple of Arabs (They were bad blackjack players) and losing 300,000 Lebanese pounds; which is the equivalent of $200 (U.S.).

Wig Wam - .Wall Street - promo cover pic!png

#6

WIG WAM – WALL STREET

A really good album from a band I wasn’t familiar with until (again) Stone turned me onto them.

T&N - Slave To The Empire - promo cover pic!

#7

T&N – SLAVE TO THE EMPIRE

Basically a Dokken Album without Don. I really like the heavier redo’s of the (some) classic Dokken tunes. In addition, the original tunes on this CD are excellent also.

Eclipse - Bleed & Scream - promo cover pic!

#8

ECLIPSE – BLEED & SCREAM

I really like this band! Eclipse have become one of my favorite AOR bands! They’ve put out another quality album this past year.

Trixter - New Audio Machine - Large promo album cover!

#9

TRIXTER – NEW AUDIO MACHINE

20 years ago I might have been a little shy to admit that I liked Trixter; only it’s not 20 years ago!  This CD is really, really good.

Accept-Stalingrad - cover promo

#10

ACCEPT – STALINGRAD

Stalingrad is an excellent follow-up to Blood Of The Nations. Is Stalingrad as good as Blood Of The Nations? No! Yet it truly is a kick ass album. I’m hoping Accept can keep it up. By the way, if you have a chance to listen to Herman Frank’s latest solo album Right in the Guts, it too is really good; however, I am only doing a top 10 here.

_________________________________________

I ENJOYED SHARING MY TOP 10 WITH EVERYONE AND I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED READING IT. I WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS 2013. LET’S KEEP THE METAL FAITH.  THANK YOU MY METAL BUDDY STONE!!!

Metal Odyssey – Stone Picks His Top 10 Hard Rock Albums Of 2012!

Metal Odyssey – Stone Picks His Top 10 Hard Rock Albums Of 2012!

After I banged my METAL brains to a pulp in compiling a Top 30 Metal Albums Of 2012 list, I decided to keep the Hard Rock side of the street to a cool and tidy Top 10 Of 2012. Okay, there’s really 11 Top Hard Rock Albums Of 2012; cause there’s a tie. Couldn’t help it. My favorite METAL troll who lives deep in the Pennsylvania woods told me a couple of days ago: “No one ever said it would be easy, Stone”.

Below you will find the 10 Hard Rock Albums (all released in 2012) that I turned to most often to get psyched-out of my Hard Rockin’ mind. I truly thought this list over long and hard, while making certain the overall quality of the albums stand tall on their own respective musical merits.

In my heart, KISS will always be #1; only SLASH Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators found their way to my Rockin’ soul in 2012. That counts big time. The ultra-fabulous return of Van Halen, Trixter and Soundgarden are just 3 stories among many Hard Rock comebacks during 2012. What sensational comeback albums these 3 bands created and they’re included in my Top 10! Spider Rockets appear in my Top Ten for good reason; their Hard Rockin’ bite is infectious!

Switzerland’s The Order and N. Ireland’s Million Dollar Reload are 2 bands that released unbelievable albums this past year! Both of these bands took me by incredible Hard Rockin’ surprise! The word elite comes to my mind, whenever I listen to the new albums from Lynyrd Skynyrd and Black Country Communion. As for Georgia’s very own Jackyl… their new album Best Of Show is a combination of Hard Rockin’ fun and whoop-ass that I am so very thankful for.

Thank you for supporting Hard Rock and any/all bands seen or heard on Metal Odyssey this past year. I greatly appreciate your every visit and loyalty. I also want to thank each band listed below for existing. Metal be thy name.

You’ll find a link for my album review (or feature) below each respective title.

The Order - 1986 - Cover Promo Pic!

#10

THE ORDER – 1986

BUY this new album from THE ORDER and your ears will be thanking you forever.

THE ORDER – 1986 Is An Album Bursting At The Seams With Hard Rockin’ & Heavy Metallin’ Old School Glory!

MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD - A Sinner's Saint - promo cover pic!!

#9

MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD – A SINNER’S SAINT

This album is like a stick of Hard Rockin’ dynamite!

Below is my album review I wrote for the (very cool) Hard Rock Nights:

MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD – A SINNER’S SAINT = CLASSIC HARD ROCKIN’ INTOXICATION!

Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth - Large Promo Cover!!

#8

VAN HALEN – A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRUTH

Without VAN HALEN, where would Hard Rock be today? I shudder at the thought.

VAN HALEN ‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ – The Truth Is… This Album ROCKS!

Trixter - New Audio Machine - Large promo album cover!

#7 (Tie)

TRIXTER – NEW AUDIO MACHINE

Yes, TRIXTER came back with all their Hard Rockin’ cylinders blazing! Whoa!

TRIXTER “New Audio Machine” – 100% ROCKS! TRIXTER IS BACK!

Spider Rockets - Bitten - promo cover pic!

#7 (Tie)

SPIDER ROCKETS – BITTEN

New Jersey ROCKS and SPIDER ROCKETS are a HUGE reason why The Garden State is its own Rocktopia. I absolutely LOVE the approach that SPIDER ROCKETS has towards Hard Rock and there’s really no other band like them out there. BUY this whiz-bang album and you’ll be BITTEN by the sensation of Hard Rockin’ sound that is SPIDER ROCKETS. I got bitten. Yup, I did.

SPIDER ROCKETS “BITTEN” – Strap Yourself In… For One Hell Of A Hard Rockin’ Ride With Plenty Of Bite!

KISS - Monster - cover promo pic!

#6

KISS – MONSTER

A KISS album that has tapped into Classic Hard Rock, like this iconic band’s life depended on it. A KISS album that is not resting on any laurels. A KISS album that I’m proud to own and recommend to the world! If MONSTER is too loud and too much fun, then… you’re probably too damn constipated and uptight to begin with.

KISS “MONSTER” (Some Fun & Rockin’ Thoughts From Stone, Part 1) – My Favorite Song Revealed!

Jackyl - Best In Show - Large Promo Cover Pic!

#5

JACKYL – BEST IN SHOW

Warning: This album is (gulp) FUN. PUH POW!

JACKYL “Best In Show” – FUN Has Returned To Hard Rock Once Again, Courtesy Of JACKYL!

Soundgarden - King Animal - promo cover pick!

#4

SOUNDGARDENKING ANIMAL

More than just a “new” or “comeback” Soundgarden album. This is an accomplishment from Soundgarden, with lyrical brilliance and songs that are executed with unique and memorable musicianship and vocals. I can easily place King Animal atop the back catalog of Soundgarden albums and preach to the world that this band has returned in (what feels like to me) mystical fashion.

SOUNDGARDEN – Creation Of “King Animal” Mural At Easy Street Records (Time Lapse Video)

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Last Of A Dyin' Breed - cover promo pic!

#3

LYNYRD SKYNYRD – LAST OF A DYIN’ BREED

An inspirational album both lyrically and musically. By the way, LYNYRD SKYNYRD is still kicking Southern Hard Rockin’ ass in 2012! Each LYNYRD SKYNYRD lineup is legendary, Last Of A Dyin’ Breed is proof once again.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD – ‘Last Of A Dyin’ Breed’ Got Me Through The Week

Black Country Communion - Afterglow - promo pic!

#2

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION – AFTERGLOW

AFTERGLOW is easily one of the best Hard Rock albums I’ve heard in many years. As a supergroup, Black Country Communion doesn’t portray a single ego in their music. All I hear is greatness.

BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION “AFTERGLOW” – Majestic, Classic Hard Rock Still Exists… And It’s Right Here

Slash - Apocalyptic Love - promo cover pic!

#1

SLASH – Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators

APOCALYPTIC LOVE

As I see and hear it, once an album can move you, lifting your Rockin’ soul to new heights as Apocalyptic Love has done for me, then it’s a #1 album for certain. The combination of SLASH’s guitar and Myles Kennedy’s vocals were destined to unite. It had to be! At least that’s how I feel and hear it.

The chemistry of this entire band just seems to be right on the bullseye, overflowing from every song on this exceptional album. Maybe it’s just me. Regardless, I couldn’t be more confident and psyched-out by my choice of Apocalyptic Love being my #1 Hard Rock album of 2012. Metal be thy name!

Lee Dorman - Iron Butterfly - publicity pic - 2012 - #1

Lee Dorman, the bass guitarist for the legendary Iron Butterfly, passed away from natural causes on Friday, December 21st, in Laguna Niguel, California. Lee Dorman was 70 years old. Lee Dorman was born in 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Lee Dorman joined Iron Butterfly as they recorded their (now iconic) In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida album back in 1968. In 1971, Lee Dorman and Iron Butterfly guitarist Larry Reinhardt founded the Metal-Jazz Fusion band Captain Beyond, along with Rod Evans of Deep Purple fame.

A tried and true pioneer of heavy music, Lee Dorman helped pave the way for the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal genres that we all cherish here at Metal Odyssey.

Metal Odyssey expresses condolences to the family, friends, bandmates and fans of Lee Dorman. May Lee Dorman rest in peace.

Christmas 2012 Special Feature – A Couple Of Childhood Memories Of My Christmas Past

Posted in christmas, christmas holiday, classic rock, Hard Rock, Music, people, rock music with tags , , , , on December 20, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Van Halen - 1984 - promo cover pic!

I received this (now classic) Van Halen 1984 album as a Christmas present from my sister, back in… 1984. I was very psyched-out to receive this album as a gift back then. I can vividly recall playing this Van Halen vinyl on my old turntable and trying to do spinning back kicks (like David Lee Roth) to the hit-song Jump. Whoa.

CHRISTMAS 2012 – With Christmas only being days away, It seems like yesterday was the start of Labor Day weekend. Time keeps on moving, like greased lightning! Is it just me or does time move along slower when you’re a kid? When I was a kid, it seemed as if the first 24 days of December went by like an entire year!

A couple of childhood Christmas memories of mine, I’d like to share:

I remember going to The Warner Theatre in downtown Torrington, Connecticut for the annual UAW Local 1645 Christmas party. This Christmas party was a spectacle to experience as a little kid! My Father was a member of this union; therefore I was lucky enough to attend this fun Christmas event at The Warner. Santa gave a toy to each child (and it was a decent/large toy too). There was a movie (G rated, of course) and cartoons to watch on the theater screen, while munching down popcorn and drinking soda to my heart’s delight.

Here’s what The Warner Theatre looks like today: notice the Art-Deco style to this theatre’s exterior. The restoration that has been done to The Warner Theatre is nothing short of amazing. Whoa.

______________________________________________

I remember going to Torrington’s Christmas Village. This Christmas Village is world-known, (just like The Warner Theatre is). When I was a very young lad, the lines of people who waited to get inside our hometown’s Christmas Village seemed endless to me! The hot chocolate sold on the sidewalk (leading to Christmas Village) was and always shall be: The World’s Greatest Hot Chocolate Ever Served.

Yes, Santa and his merry elves were waiting inside this magnificent Christmas Village for all the visitors to see. Santa sat by a very large, wood burning fireplace. Man, I can still feel the warmth of that fireplace on my face, as I write this Christmas memory down. My body would shake and my words would tremble, as I sat on Santa’s lap. Never would I request more than two toys; it’s how I was taught by my parents, back in the day.

Santa’s reindeer were there at Christmas Village too! Each and every one of them. Crap, I can’t remember if Rudolph was there, after all these years. Regardless, my wife and I were fortunate enough to take our daughters  to this same Christmas Village when they were just tots as well. Good Christmas times.

Here’s what the front entrance to Torrington’s Christmas Village looks like:

I wish everyone a Very, Merry and Rockin’ Christmas! Happy holidays, Feliz Navidad and Happy New Year too!

BARONESS – Share Video Of John Baizley And Pete Adams Acoustic Performance

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on December 18, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Baroness - acoustic performance - 2012

Dec. 17, 2012, Philadelphia — Baroness’s John Baizley and Pete Adams share an acoustic performance of “Stretchmarker” via their website (www.baronessmusic.com).  The clip, recorded in Baizley’s Philadelphia art studio (www.aperfectmonster.com), marks the first performance the band members have shared since their horrific bus accident in August.

“Simply put: it’s time to get back to it. Since my belated and thankful return to the USA (after our painful test in motor coach-aeronautics) I can definitively say I’ve exhausted my reserve of potential leisure activities (there’s not that many of them, after all).” explained Baizley. “I’ve come dreadfully close to boredom, and in those moments I can’t help but focus on my glaring physical infirmities.  Television offers little respite from this relative stasis; I’m sure by now I have sampled every biker-meth-dealer-zombie-low-talking-cop-crime-scene-serial-killer-real-housewife soap opera that is currently being broadcast (and there’s no small number of them).  I’ve tried to fill my weekly routine with as much physical therapy as possible but the truth is, PT is not fun, and its benefits come with a great deal of mental/physical/spiritual pain and struggle.

Furthermore, I believe I am getting a touch of Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to my doctors and therapists (the highlight of my week should NOT involve a clinic).  Music might be the best therapy I have right now.   Perhaps it’s both the cause and the cure (the thought has crossed my mind); but I feel lost without it.  Pete and I have just spent a long week surveying our musical wreckage and, surprisingly, we are quite well and intact.  Sure, there are some substantial obstacles to overcome before we write, record or perform any time soon; but we still have everything we need to get ‘back in’ that particular ‘saddle again.’  Most of my peers are familiar with such high-school-gym-teacher poeticisms as ‘risk equals reward’ and ‘no pain, no gain;’ but did any of us every really believe there was any real wisdom in those adolescent platitudes?  I didn’t.  I am, however, starting to understand the essence of these and many of our other favorite clichés.

As odd as it might be for me to write these ‘updates’ after 10 years of personal silence on the internet, I feel that I owe everyone who’s voiced or given their support to  Baroness a brief synopsis of our situation and more importantly a heartfelt thanks.  Honestly, it has made this ordeal much easier on me.  What little publicity that surrounds our crash has given voice to so many people who have shared their own stories of injury, trauma and struggle with us, and has furthered my own faith in the communicative and universal strength of music.  As every singer on every stage has nightly said, ‘we wouldn’t be where we are without you.’  Thanks everyone.  We look forward to seeing you soon.  Here’s a short clip of a song we wrote.”

Baroness - Yellow & Green - promo covers!!

Yellow & Green, Baroness’s breakthrough double album, has garnered enormous praise on various best of and year-end lists worldwide including reigning over Spin’s “20 Best Metal Albums of 2012,” iTunes awarding “Take My Bones Away” the distinction of the best metal song of the year, Metal Hammer Germany placing the release at #2 on their year-end list and BBC Music describing the album as a “nearly flawless collection” while giving Yellow & Green the #13 spot in their Top 25 albums of 2012.  The 18-track record also landed on year-end lists from Amazon (#46), Close Up Sweden (#4), Decibel (#2), Guitar World (#15), Loudwire (#4), Magnet (#12), Metal Hammer Norway (#4), Metal Hammer UK (#14), Paste (#47), Pitchfork (#27), PopMatters (#4), Revolver (#4), Stereogum (#18), Terrorizer (#2), Treble (#2), Village Voice (#6) and Visions Germany (#4).

Baizley recently did a number of interviews where he discussed Baroness’s upcoming plans, telling Decibel Magazine:  “I have no doubt that within six months, we’ll be playing shows  again.”  The full interview can be read here and here.

Limited quantities of the Yellow & Green Deluxe 2xLP Hardbound Book Vinyl edition from the band’s personal collection are available via Baroness’s website (www.baronessmusic.com) with all proceeds going directly to the band.

It’s sure to be melodic, progressive and intense!

Eric is internationally known for being on many melodic rock albums such as Fergie Fredrickson (Toto) and Trixter’s return album New Audio Machine and many more. Eric has also done many live gig’s from playing with legends like Graham Bonnet (Rainbow) to also playing with vocal icons of other genre’s like Dawn Robinson of En Vogue.

FAITHSEDGE:

Giancarlo Floridia – Vocals, Guitar

Alex De Rosso – Lead Guitar

Tony Morra – Drums

Eric Ragno – Keyboards

Faithsedge is a heavy Heavy Metal/Hard Rock/Progressive project started by singer/songwriter Giancarlo Floridia in Huntington Beach, California, in early 2009. Giancarlo has a solid musical background, having previously worked with renowned producers such as Mike Talanca (David Bowie/Foreigner) and Juan Croucier (ex-Ratt) among others.

Faithsedge - Giancarlo - Alex - promo pic - 2012

Giancarlo contacted producer and bass player Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Lukather/Alice Cooper) after not only being impressed with his work on numerous albums as a producer but also with his amazing bass playing skills. Fabrizio has worked with some of the biggest names in the most diverse music genres (George Clinton, Ice T and Cypress Hill are among his endless list of collaborations) and after hearing Giancarlo’s demos put together an incredible band to back up the project along with himself playing bass duties and producing the resulting debut CD.

Alex De Rosso joined Faithsedge on guitar. Having handled live lead guitar duties in Dokken, with whom he toured the world and shared the stage with the likes of Scorpions, Whitesnake, Ratt, Warrant and Firehouse among others, Alex has also played on many critically acclaimed albums with artists such as Joseph Williams (Toto/Disney’s The Lion King), Kelly Hansen (Foreigner/Hurricane) and Pamela Moore (also known as Sister Mary from Queensryche’s concept album ‘Operation Mindcrime’).

Tony Morra completes the line-up on drums. Tony owns his own studio in Nashville, Tennessee, the Downtown Batterie and has played with many great artists such as Rebecca St James and Van Zant among others. He is also credited for playing on the Grammy Award winning album ‘Songs From The Neighborhood – A Tribute To Fred Rogers’ in 2006 and for touring as a member of pop legend Stevie B’s Band and Sweet Sensation. Tony has also played drums for different movie soundtracks such as ‘Chronicles Of Narnia’ and ‘Just Married’ to name a few.

The resulting effort is a perfect mix of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Progressive, with lots of vocals and hooks, shredding guitar solos, pounding bass and drums and plenty of melodically challenging songwriting. ‘Faithsedge’ was mastered by Tom Baker of Precision Mastering (Judas Priest/Motley Crue).

Killing Joke - The Singles Collection 1979-2012 - promo cover pic!

The Singles Tour Announced

KILLING JOKE will celebrate their 35th anniversary in style next year with the release of The Singles Collection 1979-2012 and a world tour set to commence in Europe this coming March. 2013 will also see the band release a new studio album!

With a fierce intelligence combined with a thirst for esoteric knowledge that matches a sound  that is visceral and almost spiritual in its primal spirit, KILLING JOKE are like no other. This is a group spawned from Punk Rock that set out on one of the most remarkable and idiosyncratic journeys ever. Their influence has been enormous, with an unlikely roll-call of musicians taking their cues from the KJ catalog, from Nirvana to most modern American Metal to many DJs and dance music mavericks. Few, however have come close to matching the band’s innate power.

The Singles Collection 1979-2012, set for release via Spinefarm/Universal on April 16, 2013, captures their ever-evolving story with a series of dark, apocalyptic songs that have successfully combined disco, funk and shamanic wisdom with the dark side of the punk fall-out. The Singles Collection 1979-2012 will be released in three formats: as a digital download, a limited edition 3-CD set and a super deluxe edition.

______________________________________________

Formats:

3-CD Version includes:

– 33 career-spanning singles over 2 CDs + a third disc of rarities, including previously unreleased studio tracks. This 3-CD version will be limited in number, reverting to 2 CDs containing the singles tracks. To preorder, go HERE.
