NUCLEAR Apátrida – If you’re a loyal old school Thrasher or just addicted to Thrash Metal that’s potent enough to set off the Richter Magnitude Scale, then NUCLEAR is a Thrash Metal band that you need to have your ears, brain and entire nervous system acquainted with.

NUCLEAR are from the grand Republic Of Chile and formed their Thrash Metal pack back in 2003. With 4 studio and 2 live albums to their Metal credit, NUCLEAR has the Thrashing credentials in their songwriting, musicianship, vocals and old school attitude; just a couple of listens to Apátrida and any Thrash Metal aficionado shall agree!

Originality can sometimes be difficult to achieve within the Thrash Metal genre; with so many legendary bands having already “done that”, only NUCLEAR brings a unique style to the Thrash masses and I’m very, very impressed. Not as extreme as the iconic Slayer and not as over produced as the legendary Metallica’s post Master Of Puppets catalog, NUCLEAR follows more in line with an old school Anthrax meets old school Exodus (with Megadeth in-between).

Not afraid to approach politics as a lyrical theme, NUCLEAR gets their point across with blazing sonic beats and a dual guitar attack that has my neck begging for mercy after each listen to Apátrida. Wether NUCLEAR’s vocalist Matias Leonicio sings in English or Spanish, the Metal point is made very clear: there is credible passion in his voice and Thrash Metal is a universal language all its own.

Get into NUCLEAR and allow this rising giant of a Thrash band to kick your ass. NUCLEAR has arrived my fellow Metal brethren! Metal be thy name.

TERMINATE: Chicago Death Horde Announces Lineup Change; Band On Tour Across Midwest/Western US Now

Following the release of their debut full-length Ascending to Red Heavens via Selfmadegod Records this Winter, Chicago Death Metal horde TERMINATE announces a pending change in the band’s lineup. In a recent statement the band collectively reported:

“We’re sorry to announce the departure of our bassist, Alfred Mulle. There is no ill-will on either end and it is simply a matter of divergent life paths that forces the split. We wish him luck, and encourage everybody to check out his excellent graphic design work through his company Demonic Designs. Alfred’s last show with us will be supporting Wolvhammer and Glorior Belli in Chicago, on May 17th, along with Chicago Black Metal assassins FIN. We will announce a replacement shortly.”

After kicking off last night in Des Moines, Iowa, the current TERMINATE lineup is currently out on the road brutalizing the Midwest and West Coast on their Spring Tour in support of Ascending to Red Heavens. The ongoing attack itinerary is posted below.

I can’t wait to take the Pasadena Napalm Division machine on the road in support of our first LP on Minus Head Records.”

The band’s 13-song self-titled debut is set for a May 28 release via Minus Head Records. The album was recorded at the Music Lab in Austin and features guest vocals from Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste) and Argo (Dead Horse).

DORO – It was back in 1983 that a then unheard-of 19-year-old vocalist called Dorothee Pesch entered the stage with her band SNAKEBITE in Düsseldorf, Germany for the very first time. Just four years later the power woman made her big international break with her new combo WARLOCK, whose masterpiece “Triumph and Agony” – featuring the future worldwide hits “All We Are” and “Für Immer” – has been sold over 5 million times to date.

Today, after about 2.800 shows in more than 50 different countries on four continents, DORO has become a trademark for thrilling rock music and energetic live shows. Considering the extent of DORO’s international fame and popularity, the wild blonde ranks among the most successful female German singers of all times.

On April 15th, the big 30-years-anniversary tour kicked off in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. AVANTASIA – Just after we received the information that the new album THE MYSTERY OF TIME has also entered the Swiss album Top 10 charts at #5, we can proudly announce that it has also entered the United World Charts at position #31 – marking Tobias‘ highest world chart entry ever and making AVANTASIA the only German music act in the worldwide sales charts that combine sales of all major music markets such as the USA, UK, Asia and Europe. What makes it even more astonishing is that the album hasn’t even been released in the USA and Canada yet.

San Francisco Bay Area Thrash bands have long been known for their in-your-face approach to music, and POTENTIAL THREAT SF are no strangers to that tradition. Civilization Under Threat from Bay Area Thrash Metallers POTENTIAL THREAT SF will be released June 18th through Old School Metal Records.

Originally formed as a five-piece in 1986, they have shared the stage with everyone from Testament to Slayer to Cro-Mags to Nuclear Assault and just recently returned from touring with Death Angel. Their hard-working, no holds barred attitude carries over to their live shows. Though they put every ounce of grit and determination into their set, they still manage not to sound like angry old fucks.

Their mentality is simple – it’s just as easy for a band to get the audience involved in their show as it is to be pissed off and push them away. In short, they still have fun and show it on stage and to the fans, regardless of how long they’ve been playing or how many people are in the attendance.

Their newest offering, Civilization Under Threat (to be released by OSM Records), gives a nod to the old school by combining aggressive, commanding vocals with dual guitars and a thundering bottom end. Engineered and mastered by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Testament, Heathen) at Trident Studios has given the album a massively heavy quality without being over-produced.

The band consists of Mike Noble on lead vocals and lead/rhythm guitars, Daniel Sheridan on lead/rhythm guitars, Kenny Noble on drums and Damien Sisson (also in Death Angel) on bass.

Technical Power/Thrash band Dark Design from Raleigh, North Carolina has recently signed with Heaven & Hell Records for the release of their debut, Prey for the Future.

Since early 2010, Dark Design, comprised of members Ray Lewis (guitar), Mike Joyner (guitar), Andrew Bertrand (vocals), and rhythm section Matt (bass) and Robbie Mercer (drums), have built a strong fan base in their local metal scene. Their technical prowess and progressive song structuring have often been compared to that of Death, Toxik, and Anacrusis. As buzz of the band began to grow they were requested to play the 2012 Warriors of Metal Festival in Ohio.

Meanwhile the band was working on their debut album. The band is currently finishing up the recording with John E Wooten (Widow U.S) and is now in final mix down. Mastering is set to be done by Jamie King at The Basement Studios. Release is set for late Summer / early Fall.

Swedish Melodic Death metallers Deals Death made a public announcement; that after three years together they will be parting ways with bass player Fredrik Ljung.

The band comments: “There are times when everything is great, there are times when everything is bad. And there are times when different paths are chosen and you simply drift apart. Things like these are never easily decided and we thank our friend and bandmate for three awesome years and wish you a brilliant future.”

Fredrik made the following statement in response: “Dear friends and fans! As you now know, I have left the band. We saw it as the only way to go and I want to thank everyone who has gotten me and Deals Death to the point where we are at today. There are many reasons for my goodbye but I personally feel that I’m not on the same wavelength as the present band. And when you play in a band such as Deals Death you have to be able to give it your all! My last contribution with Deals Death is recorded and will be heard on the new album and I’m sure you´ll like it. I will continue with my other projects and have no intention to quit making music what so ever. I would also like to thank Deals Death for this wonderful time and great memories!”

Earlier this year Deals Death completed recording of their third full length album at Studio Abyss, Sweden, which is slated for a release later this year via Spinefarm Records. Full details are yet to be announced. The new record follows the highly acclaimed ‘Elite’ record which was released in 2012 also via Spinefarm Records.

Max Duhamel, drummer of the Montreal based Death Metal powerhouse, KATAKLYSM, is forced to take a break. He also won’t be performing on the new KATAKLYSM album.

Max has just released this official statement:

“Hello everyone, it is with an extremely heavy heart that I announce today that I will not be performing on the new KATAKLYSM album, I have been struggling with many personal issues the last year but lately, the main one has been alcohol, it’s been affecting my body in a very negative way to the point that when I came home after the EX DEO tour we just did, I tried to stop drinking for few days and it’s been very hard without having any withdrawals symptoms, I’ve also lost a lot of weight as some of you noticed recently and I’m not in good shape.

I’ve heard the new material my brothers have written and its truly incredible stuff, it’s really some of the best music the band has ever done but It’s going to be a very demanding album and my state of mind and body is not ready to confront this big task right now, I need to clean my body and my mind and come back focused to Kataklysm and I don’t know how long this will take…, the guys have reached out to help in any way they can which I can’t thank them enough.. I’m truely blessed to have them as a family, so as I start my road to recovery I send this message to all of you and thank you for all the support, It’s time to take my life in my hands and take responsibility, I will not be attending the JUNO AWARDS ceremony in two weeks for EX DEO nominations but i will close my contract with the shows in MAY that are left, EXTREMEFEST, BEASTIVAL in Germany and METALFEST CZECH REP. will be my last shows until I’m ready again to come back in full form, you guys deserve the best of me… see you later.” MAX

The new album Waiting for the End to Come is tentatively scheduled for a late 2013 / early 2014 release. The album will be recorded by guitarist Jean Francois Dagenais and mixed by Zeuss (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS).
