San Francisco Bay Area Thrash bands have long been known for their in-your-face approach to music, and POTENTIAL THREAT SF are no strangers to that tradition. Civilization Under Threat from Bay Area Thrash Metallers POTENTIAL THREAT SF will be released June 18th through Old School Metal Records.

Originally formed as a five-piece in 1986, they have shared the stage with everyone from Testament to Slayer to Cro-Mags to Nuclear Assault and just recently returned from touring with Death Angel. Their hard-working, no holds barred attitude carries over to their live shows. Though they put every ounce of grit and determination into their set, they still manage not to sound like angry old fucks.

Their mentality is simple – it’s just as easy for a band to get the audience involved in their show as it is to be pissed off and push them away. In short, they still have fun and show it on stage and to the fans, regardless of how long they’ve been playing or how many people are in the attendance.

Their newest offering, Civilization Under Threat (to be released by OSM Records), gives a nod to the old school by combining aggressive, commanding vocals with dual guitars and a thundering bottom end. Engineered and mastered by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Testament, Heathen) at Trident Studios has given the album a massively heavy quality without being over-produced.

The band consists of Mike Noble on lead vocals and lead/rhythm guitars, Daniel Sheridan on lead/rhythm guitars, Kenny Noble on drums and Damien Sisson (also in Death Angel) on bass.

I (first) found this breaking news (this morning) regarding Dave Lombardo being dismissed as Slayer’s drummer for the Australian tour on the very cool and informative: MELODYOFTHESOUL. All I can say, is Dave Lombardo is THE legendary and original Slayer drummer and Slayer is the crème de la crème of Thrash Metal history. I just wish they could all get along… then again… we’re all human. Read on, cause this is one jaw-dropping story! Metal be thy name.

Statement From Dave Lombardo Regarding Slayer Australian Tour 2013

I want to personally apologize to all of our fans in Australia who have bought tickets for the tour expecting to see me in my usual place on the drums.

So that you all know the truth, as of the end of the business day on February 14th, I was notified that I would not be drumming for the tour in Australia. I’m saddened, and to be honest I am shocked by the situation.

Last year, I discovered 90% of Slayer’s tour income was being deducted as expenses including the professional fees paid to management, costing the band millions of dollars and leaving 10% or less to split amongst the four of us. In my opinion, this is not the way a band’s business should operate. I tried rectifying it by letting my band mates know, and Tom and I hired auditors to figure out what happened, but I was denied access to detailed information and the necessary back up documents.

I spent the Christmas and New Year holidays realizing I had toured all over the world in 2012, but yet, had not been paid (except a small advance) or provided a proper accounting for a full year’s sweat and blood. On top of this, I was told that I would not be paid until I signed a long form contract which gave me no written assurance of how much or on what basis management would deduct commissions, nor did it provide me access to the financial budgets or records for review. It also forbade me to do interviews or make statements having to do with the band, in effect a gagging order.

Last Monday, I sat down with Kerry and Tom to rehearse for Australia and to propose a new business model that I felt was the best way forward for Slayer to confidently protect itself so we could do what we do best . . . play for the fans. Kerry made it clear he wasn’t interested in making changes and said if I wanted to argue the point, he would find another drummer. On Thursday, I arrived at rehearsals at 1 pm as scheduled, but Kerry did not show. Rather, at 6:24 pm I received an email from the lawyers saying I was being replaced for the Australian dates.

I remain hopeful that we can resolve our issues. But once again, I sincerely apologize to all of our fans in Australia who spent their money expecting to see the 3 of us original Slayer members.

Over one month ago, YouTube has decided to remove our video from the corresponding channel, without giving any kind of precise explanation, just by noting that our work did not meet their regulations and policies. Having been a month, doing an intense paperwork and forms, together with NADIR MUSIC and AL LENTE COMUNICACION AUDIOVISUAL. The only response we had was that the music video was removed from the channel, and that they considerated invalid our replica and appeal.

As ESTAMPIDA, NADIR MUSIC and AL LENTE COMUNICACION AUDIOVISUAL, We want to make clear that “WE DON’T ADMIT ANY CHARGE” and We invite anyone who has seen, to tell us if our work had some sort of malicious scenes or any kind of vocabulary is often aggravating see in the same YOUTUBE. The work done by the three parties mentioned above, based on the promotion of the video was hard and intense, costed much sacrifice, and media, label, fans and bands, exactly know how hard it is reaching more than 15,000 visits Worldwide. The fact still remains unchanged: they have taken our video in a unceremoniously dictatorial and arbitrary way. The decision is taken, and that means to us to start again, working harder than before, those who know us know our fighting spirit, the video will be uploaded again, and as often as NECESSARY.
