DISINTEGRATE – Sign To Massacre Records; New Album Releasing July 2012

Posted in Death Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal with tags , , , , , on March 29, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Hard, melodic and straight to the point!

DISINTEGRATE, hailing from the north of Holland, has a definite preference for well-balanced arrangements and raw, energetic vocal lines, nicely served with a feisty Death Metal-sauce. Every musician in DISINTEGRATE has the freedom to develop his skills and show his musical prowess, thus creating a grooving mixture of aggression and melody.

DISINTEGRATE is the brain child of Danny Boonstra (vocals + keyboards), Leo van Leijen (guitars) and Jos Hindriks (guitars). When they started the band in 2005, a clear statement was defined outlining the structure and content for DISINTEGRATE: intelligent Melodic Death/Thrash Metal with no boundaries.

The band really took flight with the addition of Joran Dijkstra (drums) and Sander Stegeman (bass). By releasing the MCD “Destructive Capacity”, the band received a lot of attention and also played on the prestigious Waldrock festival in 2009 alongside bands like Carcass, Killswitch Engage and Heaven & Hell.

DISINTEGRATE’s new album “Parasites Of A Shifting Future” is going to be released on July 27, 2012!

SANGUINE – Debut / ST: Alternative Metal That Leaps Over Cutting Edge

Posted in alternative metal, alternative rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on March 29, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

SANGUINE – When I first heard the opening track For Love (not too long ago) I immediately realized that Sanguine is a band that will, without question, make some serious F’n noize within the Metal and Alternative Metal world. Tarin Kerrey can scream her lungs out and her vocals are power-packed with emotion that comes across as 100% sincere. For Love is an amazing track of Metal to open up this debut from Sanguine, both for its riveting vibes and heightened heaviness.

Sanguine originates from the UK and they’re Metal comes with a fresh dose of sound that is unique and not part of any “same-old” crowd. One amazing song on this debut is Bangkok Nights. Try to imagine New Wave going full-throttle on the Metal pedal. Add a sliver of Funky guitar, screaming vocals, some Rap, thunderous Metal rhythm and Bangkok Nights is as diverse a Metal song I’ve ever had scorch my eardrums.

In The Sky is melodic and flows along like a top twenty hit single. More Hard Rock than Metal, In The Sky maintains  an edgy feel and vibe that is constant and contagious. Given Up is fortified with Alternative Metal muscle, speed, grooves, soaring vocals and a slice of growl. A song that is ultra energy fortified for certain. No two songs sound alike on this debut from Sanguine, a quality that I find alluring.

Live Consume Drive has so many delectable varieties of heaviness happening that it’s flat-out sensational. With a Punk snarl for its backbone, this song is driven by its aggressive speed and attitude. A potent moshing candidate of a song, one that’s guaranteed to turn fans at a live Sanguine show into a slammin’ frenzy. Contagious and Contagious Remix (Tim Baker Version) are examples of what happens, when a band wants to make Alternative Metal that will make you stomp about wether you are willing to or not.

The more I’ve listened to Sanguine, the more I want to get up off my ass and slam my body around the house, while my out of control movements destroy’s every material good I own into remnants of what once was. Sanguine is a band that isn’t looking for a party, they are the F’n party. Sanguine has created Metal, Alternative Metal, that accelerates at a non-stop level of psyche-you-out fever. This is Alternative Metal that has been turned up a dozen notches and very well may be ahead of its time. Hell yes.

Sanguine has proven to me, they’re a band that can’t be given a proper do with words alone. Sanguine has a debut album that needs to be digested by your senses to fully understand just how talented and commanding they sound. Sanguine will Rock your face off. I’ve warned you. If I could pick that one band I need to see live, it’s Sanguine. I can only imagine their songs coming to life in a small club/venue where all I can do is experience this band’s Alternative Metal and heightened energy. Metal be thy name.

Take a look and listen below to Given Up and (hopefully) you’ll see what I’m trying to blab about!

SANGUINE:

Tarin Kerrey – Vocals

Nick Magee – Guitar/Vocals

Tom Sherwood – Bass

Matt Feld – Drums

SANGUINE – Current Rockin’ News of Note:

Singer Tarin Kerrey has performed guest vocals on 4 songs of the Primal Rock Rebellion album ‘Awoken Broken’ by Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden.

The band is currently writing album two with Jesper Stromblad from In Flames.

SIX FEET UNDER – 3 Song Sampler Review Of Forthcoming Album ‘UNDEAD’

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on March 28, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

SIX FEET UNDER – I’ve recently smothered my eardrums in a three song sampler of the forthcoming Six Feet Under album (Metal Blade Records) that’s titled: Undead. The three songs are: Formaldehyde, Days and Frozen At The Moment Of Death. I’ll tell all my fellow Death Metal brethren now… get ready… cause if these three songs are any deadly indication, then, this soon to be released Undead album is gonna kick your Death Metal lovin’ asses to hell and back.

Chris Barnes has never sounded more brutal on vocals and his Six Feet Under band have unleashed 100% lethal Death Metal with Formaldehyde. Mean as hell. The riffs, the bludgeoning bass and drums, the whole damn F’n 100 yards of Death Metal fury, is all set afire by Six Feet Under, on all three songs. My Metal impression is: Six Feet Under are back in 2012 to reaffirm they are a Death Metal force to be duly reckoned with.

Still maintaining an authoritative Death Metal groove on each song, Six Feet Under instills that “underground” feel and vibe as well. So incredibly heavy are these three songs that it is nearly hallucinating. I’ll have to tell you, after listening to these new Six Feet Under songs, I want this entire album now! I don’t give a damn about how many blisters my eardrums get, from the singing Death Metal assault that this band administers. Hell no.

In my Metal opinion, Undead is gonna be a mammoth Death Metal milestone for Six Feet Under. Hell yeah it’s gonna be. Metal. Be. Thy. Name.

Out Now On AFM Records: BLACK MESSIAH, LYRIEL, STAHLMANN

Posted in folk metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, pagan metal, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on March 27, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

One of the finest bands of the German Pagan Metal scene, BLACK MESSIAH, is back, and the new album from the warriors is out now in North America via AFM Records. Dubbed The Final Journey, the fifth full-length from the band is the second ‘Ruhr Vikings’ concept album following in the tradition of their 2009-released First War Of The World, and showcases BLACK MESSIAH playing more diverse and greater Epic Metal than ever. Heroic choruses collide with bitterly cold atmospheres, all layered with the Folk instrumentation in the customary BLACK MESSIAH Pagan Metal fashion.

For the powerful album opener “Windloni” — which showcases these amazing new stylistic upgrades to the BLACK MESSIAH sound perfectly — a video was filmed, evoking the legendary character in the tale to life. Take a visual voyage into the song AT THIS LOCATION.

The Final Journey Track Listing:

1. Windloni

2. Der Ring mit dem Kreuz

3. To Become A Man

4. Into The Unfanthomed Tower

5. Feld der Ehre 2012

6. Lindisfarne

7. Prologue – The Final Journey

8. Mother Hel

9. On Board

10. Sailing Into Eternity

Folk Metallers LYRIEL‘s fourth full-length album Leverage is out now in North America via AFM Records. As the album title may imply, the new compositions by the German act are more powerful than before – without going too far astray from the band´s trademarks and roots.

It was never easy to label LYRIEL´s music; their mix of Celtic Rock, Gothic Metal, Folk and Alternative influences has a unique touch to it. With Leverage they stay true to their tradition of reinventing themselves with each release. The album is varied, melodic and despite new influences and a bit tougher stance, typical LYRIEL. Singer Jessica Thierjung´s voice combined with the band’s use of violin and cello produce the band’s special atmosphere. With stronger guitar and drum work this time around, LYRIEL are relying less on the use of synth and letting the actual instruments take over.

Leverage Track Listing:

1. When It´s Coming To An End

2. Leverage

3. Parting

4. Voices In My Head

5. The Road Not Taken

6. White Lily

7. Aus der Tiefe

8. Wenn die Engel Fallen

9. Side By Side

10. Repentance

German Electro Rockers STAHLMANN have released their second album, Quecksilber, via AFM Records. Not only due to their unique appearance, STAHLMANN have become a hallmark of the German Rock scene, representing a new generation of hard, German music which began in the mid 90s with pioneers like Die Krupps and Oomph, a formula that was brought to perfection several years later by Rammstein.

To see the people as cold, steely machines that function in their daily lives and hide their emotions, is a perspective that scene pioneers Kraftwerk have been projected on our society. Founded in 2008, STAHLMANN pour this vision into their own personal artistic blast furnace, melding it into their bitter industrial sound, driving rhythms and catchy Gothic-intense melodies, yielding an alloy the ban can call their own craft. STAHLMANN worked with highly acclaimed Jose Alvarez Brill to construct Quecksilber, the producer well-known for his productions with Wolfsheim and Blutengel.

Quecksilber Track Listing:

1. Engel Der Dunkelheit

2. Spring Nicht

3. Tanzmaschine

4. Asche

5. Mein Leib

6. Am Grunde

7. Goetter

8. Schmerz

9. Diener

10. Tanzmaschine (Club Remix)

SPAWN OF POSSESSION – Cracks Billboard Heatseekers And Hard Music Charts With ‘INCURSO’

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, technical death metal with tags , , , , , , on March 26, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Following the North American release of SPAWN OF POSSESSION‘s anticipated third album, Incurso, last week, the Swedish Technical Death Metal horde’s latest work cracked the Billboard charts! The blistering record landed at #63 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and also came in at #62 on the Hard Music Chart in its first week, leaving weaker Metal records smoldering in its wake!

Featuring current and former members of Necrophagist and Obscura, Incurso is the first album to be unleashed by SPAWN OF POSSESSION in over five years, and the band’s first for Relapse Records. Already being perceived as one of the most acclaimed extreme releases of 2012 by international Metal media outlets, the mind-boggling high-speed attack of Incurso remains as epic and smooth-flowing as it is technically brilliant and unabashedly heavier than hell over the entire course of its near hour-long lifespan, and is unarguably the most professional recording in the heralded Swedish outfit’s ongoing lineage. The entire album is still streaming via MetalSucks, RIGHT HERE.

SPAWN OF POSSESSION‘s first full tour assault in support of Incurso has been underway for two weeks today, with another two weeks of brutality for the European people to be had. Stay tuned for tour updates and much more on SOP throughout the rest of the year.

SKELETONWITCH – New Video Premiere Brought To You By Metal Injection, U.S. Tour Underway, European Tour Dates Announced

Posted in Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal, thrash metal bands with tags , , , , , , on March 24, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

U.S. TOUR UNDERWAY, EUROPEAN DATES ANNOUNCED!

Ohio Metal titans SKELETONWITCH unveil their brand new video for “The Infernal Resurrection.” The song comes off latest album, Forever Abomination which cracked the Billboard Top 200, as well as Decibel’s Top 40 of 2011 and finds the band doing what they do best: slaying ears in the live arena. To view the video, head over to THIS LOCATION.

Like Satan himself set loose in the hallowed halls of Heavy Metal, these Athens-based headbangers careen wildly through the music’s history, gleefully destroying and setting flame to every genre along the way, only stopping at the forefront of today’s Metal scene to look back and watch that fucker burn — and then piss on the flames. No other band has tapped into the fire, fury, and frost of all things Metal like SKELETONWITCH.

Released last October through Prosthetic Records, Forever Abomination continues to raise eyebrows with its relentless, fuck-all attack. In an 8/10 rating of the record, Decibel Magazine named SKELETONWITCH, “one of the most likeable bands in Metal,” Terrorizer dubbed Forever Abomination a “masterclass in Modern Metal,” Revolver noted its “bad-ass Thrash attack,” while Pitchfork championed the offering calling it “exciting, skilled, fist-pumping, true-to-life stuff…”

SKELETONWITCH return to the road today beginning with a warm-up show in Cleveland before joining forces with The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile and labelmates Hour Of Penance for a four-week tour that concludes at the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival. This marks the group’s first North American tour action of 2012. The band will take a brief break before heading overseas for a stretch of Euro dates.

VOYAGER‘s peculiar and unique sound merges Amorphis’ thirst for melody, Soilwork’s heaviness and the crystal vocal clarity of A-Ha’s Morton Harket into a sound all their own. The Meaning of I was released in October via Sensory Records, in conjunction with the band’s ultra-successful first tour on North American soil alongside labelmates Creation’s End, including their stellar performance at ProgPower USA.

MINISTRY: Full Album Streaming Via Metal Injection Through The Weekend

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, industrial metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on March 23, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

As we approach the official street date for the thirteenth album from Industrial Metal purveyors MINISTRY this Monday, March 26th, fans worldwide can stream all eleven tracks of the mutinous album via Metal Injection all weekend RIGHT HERE.

Following a dozen full-length releases over the past thirty years, and recently ending a four-year hiatus, from deep in the heart of Hell Paso Texas, Al Jourgensen’s MINISTRY rises against the political machine one more time with the release of Relapse, the album boasting some of the band’s heaviest and fastest material in years, fueled by Jourgensen’s disgust at the world that surrounds us.

The album strikes out with the no-holds-barred album opening track “Ghouldiggers” aimed directly at the pitfalls of the industry he has survived over the years, from there segueing directly into one of the heaviest MINISTRY anthems in years with the crushing “Double Tap” attack. Jourgensen has rallied with the Occupy Wall Street movement over the past year and recently released the riotous video for the raging “99 Percenters,” speaking out for the majority of the world’s oppressed populations against corporate corruption. View MINISTRY‘s newly unleashed “99 Percenters” video RIGHT HERE.

Cited as the driving force behind a cross-section of Metal genres from Industrial Nine Inch Nails to Thrash artists Static X and Nu Metal’s Korn, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, and receiving six Grammy Nominations for Best Metal Performance, multi-platinum selling artist Jourgensen returns with his greatest achievement to date with Relapse. The album will see worldwide release via Jourgensen’s own Thirteenth Planet Records and AFM Records in conjunction with DisManic via E1 Distribution this “Metal Monday,” March 26th, 2012.

Following the release of Relapse, MINISTRY will perform five major North American concerts this June — Denver, Los Angeles, New York and two shows in Chicago — as part of the DeFibRiLlaTouR 2012 World Tour. The band’s touring lineup includes Al Jourgensen (Frontman/vox/guitars), Mike Scaccia (Ministry/Rigor Mortis) guitars, Casey Orr (Rigor Mortis) bass, John Bechdel (Ministry/Killing Joke/Fear Factory) keyboards, Aaron Rossi (Ministry/RevCo) drums and Sin Quirin (Ministry/RevCo) guitars. Soulfly bassist Tony Campos will not performing due to scheduling conflicts. Tickets for these first five shows are on sale now; check out the official MINISTRY Facebook for more info on tickets and VIP packages HERE.

PELICAN ‘Ataraxia/Taraxis – As Excellence In Heavy Instrumental Albums Goes, This EP Is A Prime Pick

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, instrumental metal, instrumental music, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on March 23, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

PELICAN – Sometimes a four song EP does a Metal mind some good, especially when it’s as good as Ataraxia/Taraxis from the heavy Post-Instrumental band known as Pelican. All four songs I’ve listened to on this EP are rich with tonal vibrancy that weaves Stoner, Doom and Hard Rock, with spacey smooth, synthetic ambience added into the creative mix as well.

Pelican entertains so eloquently and craftily with their instruments, that vocals could never be applied to their songs without ruining the experience. There are moments I’ve encountered where Pelican can take me on that trip where the vibes are early Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep cassettes being blared at maximum level, on a hazy Summer’s day, from an old school boom box. In other words, within the swirls of their impressive musical fluency, Pelican plays it with some crunchy retrospective flare.

The Doom isn’t Pentagram, it’s more like Peligram. The Stoner isn’t The Sword, instead it’s Pelican flirting with the feel and rhythm of that genre and unveiling it within their songs as a shadow that doesn’t go unnoticed. Heavy (not like molasses) and diverse in sound, Ataraxia/Taraxis comes with solid production while not being anywhere near over-polished.

The Heavy Metal riffs are all here, the thick wall of Metal sound reigns supreme on Lathe Biosas and Parasite Colony. All four songs just come across to me as strongly written and so well executed. The end result of Ataraxia/Taraxis, for me, is a damn cool listening experience from the instrumental genius of Pelican.

Ataraxia/Taraxis releases on April 10th, 2012, via Southern Lord.

Sponsored by Metal Blade Records, Good Fight Entertainment and dB Drum Shoes, the U.S. Torture Tour 2012 will begin April 5 in Jacksonville, Florida. QUIET RIOT ‘Live! At The US Festival 1983’ CD/DVD – Releases March 26th, 2012, via Shout! Factory

Posted in Hair Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on March 21, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

QUIET RIOT – Sunday, May 29th, 1983 was “Heavy Metal Day” at the US Festival at the brand-new outdoor venue in Glen Helen Regional Park in sunny San Bernardino, California. Quiet Riot was there to perform what eventually would become a historical Heavy Metal set. The third studio album from Quiet Riot, Metal Health, was only released a couple of months prior to this US Festival performance, in early March.

On March 26th, 2012, this essential Quiet Riot CD/DVD, Live! At The US Festival 1983, will be released via Shout! Factory and no true Quiet Riot and/or 80’s Heavy Metal fan shouldn’t be without owning a copy. This live performance is the full set, from May 29th, 1983. I know I’ll get ahold of this must Quiet Riot CD/DVD and it shall serve me right.

With nearly every song from Metal Health being included here, (Breathless, Don’t Wanna Let You Go and Thunderbird are the exceptions), this live performance from Quiet Riot was a celebration of both Heavy Metal and their widely embraced and eventual #1 album. Danger Zone was released as a remastered bonus track, back in 2001.

Metal Health would become the first #1 Heavy Metal album to land on the Billboard 200 chart. Amazing. Heavy Metal history comes back to life once again, with Live! At The US Festival 1983.

* To pre-order your copy of this super cool Quiet Riot CD/DVD, click on this link here: SHOUT! FACTORY
