Fuzz Evil - Texas - Spring April 2015 Tour - promo flyer - #33FEMO

Above tour flyer designed by Joseph Rudell of Ghosttown Graphics and the center artwork is by Shaun Beaudry.

Southern Arizona Stoner Rock outfit, FUZZ EVIL, will record their debut full-length album in the coming weeks for release via their cohorts at Battleground Records and have already begun booking their tour schedule for the year with a headlining run of dates through their Southwestern stomping grounds in April.

The action begins April 21st, in FUZZ EVIL‘s gritty Tombstone-neighboring hometown of Sierra Vista, followed by Texas shows in El Paso, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas through April 25th. The band will be provided by support in El Paso by Oryx and Skulldron, with special opening support from Mothership and Switchblade Jesus on the other three Texas gigs, the final show also including Wofat in the lineup.

FUZZ EVIL Tour Dates:

4/21/2015 JR’s Bar – Sierra Vista, AZ

4/22/2015 Low Brow Palace – El Paso, TX w/ Oryx, Skulldron

4/23/2015 The Mix – San Antonio, TX w/ Mothership, Switchblade Jesus

4/24/2015 Lost Well – Austin, TX w/ Mothership, Switchblade Jesus

4/25/2015 Club Dada – Dallas, TX w/ Wofat, Mothership, Switchblade Jesus

Prior to the tour, FUZZ EVIL will begin to record their debut full-length album, the follow-up their debut split 7″ with Chiefs which was released through Battleground Records in late 2014. The album will see release on multiple formats sometime mid-year, with additional details to be released as they’re confirmed.

Comprised of brothers Wayne and Joey Rudell on vocals/guitar and vocals/bass, respectively, and drummer Marlin Tuttle, FUZZ EVIL delivers solid, groove-laden, heavy psych rock, with big-ass rock jams fans of Grand Funk Railroad, Jimi Hendrix and Steppenwolf will dig, as well as the prime riff/stoner rock contingent devout to the works of Goatsnake, Queens of The Stone Age, Clutch, and the Rudell brothers’ other outfit, Powered Wig Machine.

Limited to three hundred copies, the heavy, white-splattered grey vinyl of FUZZ EVIL‘s split 7″ with Chiefs is cut at 45 RPM and includes a digital download. Stream the record and order it while the final copies are available RIGHT HERE.

LO-PAN – Ohio Riff Rock Peddlers To Release New Full-Length Via Small Stone This Fall; Artwork + Track Listing Unveiled

Posted in Music, music news, rock music, rock music news, stoner rock with tags , , , , , on July 28, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Lo-Pan - Colossus - promo cover pic - 2014

Long-running Ohio riff rock peddlers, LO-PAN, are pleased to unveil the details of their long-awaited new full-length fittingly titled, Colossus.

Named for the Colossus of Rhodes, a ninety-six-foot statue of the titan-god of the sun, Helios, constructed in 280 BC to mark a failed siege and the indomitable nature of the Greek city of Rhodes itself, LO-PAN‘s fourth opus serves as their most personal manifestation to date and a true testament to their evolution both as a band and individually.

In the three years since of the release of third long-player, Salvador, the Columbus four-piece have logged countless miles, crossing the country multiple times over on headlining tours and supporting the likes of Torche, High on Fire, KENmode, Whores, Fu Manchu and Weedeater. They’ve become one of the most ferocious live acts in American heavy rock, and Colossus stands tall to reap the rewards of their experience.

For the first time in their near decade-long existence, LO-PAN knew exactly what they wanted when they hit the studio. They’d road-tested songs like “Eastern Seas” and the title track for over a year, and partnering with producer/engineer Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Rosetta, East Of The Wall et al) at his Translator Audio studio in Brooklyn just days after headlining Small Stone showcases in that city and Boston last March, they belted out songs that reveal just how much they’ve moved beyond their influences and arrived at their own sound — a style built on aggression without caricature, fuzz without cliché, melody without redundancy and their meanest groove to date.

Complete with cover art courtesy of Jason Alexander Byers (ex-Disengage, Black Black Black), Colossus, like its namesake, was built in defiance of gods and men, and while LO-PAN‘s loudest statement has always been made on stage, the material they craft and the power with which they execute it on this album is bound to stand for years to come.

Colossus Track Listing:

1. Regulus

2. Land Of The Blind

3. Black Top Revelation

4. Marathon Man

5. N.P.D.

6. Colossus

7. Vox

8. Eastern Seas

9. Relo

10. The Duke

Colossus will be released via Small Stone on October 7th, 2014.

 Critical Praise:

LO-PAN could easily stand as one of the most important bands of their generation in the genre.” – The Obelisk

“With enough stoner rock goodness to destroy bridges and skyscrapers alike, LO-PAN show that they are one of several absolutely essential rock outfits working today and a major force to be reckoned with.” – Sputnik Music

MARS RED SKY – Signs with Listenable Records

Mars Red Sky - promo band pic - 2014 - #550987

Considered one of the greats of the European stoner rock scene, France’s MARS RED SKY have gained international recognition due to a unique sound, based on thick infectious grooves and melodic aerial guitar riffs. This is truly a one of a kind experience, wrapped up by Julien Pras’ ethereal vocals, Matgaz’ powerful rhythms and Jimmy Kinast’s pachydermic bass lines. Somewhere between doom metal and 70s psyche pop, MARS RED SKY intrigues and attracts the masses to celebrate this cosmic ritual of solar burning fuzz and reverberated atmospheres.

Driven by the huge success of their eponymous debut record, recorded in Spain’s mystic Bardenas Desert and released in 2011, the band was invited to play on the largest European stages with Kyuss Lives!, Dinosaur Jr. and Sleep, as well as popular festivals like Eurockéennes de Belfort, Roadburn, London & Berlin Desertfests, Sziget Festival and SXSW (USA). All in all, MARS RED SKY has played in more than 20 countries.

With their incredibly heavy and hypnotic performances, MARS RED SKY have been considered as one of the most thrilling live acts among the international stoner rock scene. In 2012, they paired up with French doom metal monsters Year Of No Light, to release a three-track split record, which sold out in a blink of an eye.

The release of their Be My Guide EP in 2013 opened the path for an extensive tour across Europe, then across the Atlantic for gigs in Latin America. This is where the band recorded their new album, due out this spring on Listenable Records. A limited edition 7″ EP containing exclusive material will be released in March, more details coming shortly.

WEED IS WEED – Featuring Legendary Alumni From Pentagram, Earthride & Spirit Caravan – Sign To Ripple Music

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, stoner metal, stoner rock with tags , , , , , , , on November 2, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Weed Is Weed - promo band pic - #1 - 2013

Top-tier Stoner/Doom Metal band WEED IS WEED has signed a world-wide deal with Ripple Music for the release of their full-length album, Blunt Force Trauma.

Years of seismic rumbling have led way to the tectonic formation that is WEED IS WEED. Two legendary masters of Maryland Doom, Dave “Sherm” Sherman and Gary Isom, come with a stoner/doom metal pedigree second to none. Sherm and Gary have been the creative catalysts in such genre defining bands as Pentagram, Earthride, and Spirit Caravan, and now they’re set to launch their newest, blazing heavy rock venture.

Having assembled their most blazing line-up ever, this group of musicians have crafted the perfect sound track for red-eyed blazers the world over – Blunt Force Trauma. Blitzed out, stoned heaviness is the order as this collection of tales of reefer madness and alligator fights is slated to be released early 2014 by the ever impressive Ripple Music.

Ripple Music - Logo Header

That’s right folks… People are about to take notice.

Sherm is completely shredding the vocals, undoubtedly turning in his best performance to date, as he is more than ably backed by the rip and tear of the triple (3!) guitar attack courtesy of Gary on slide & lead guitar teamed up with Jason Fisher and Rob Portillo’s riffing and rolling. Match that with the full on rhythmic assault of Darren Waters on bass, and the single moniker’d Cougin on drums, and this band is ready to pummel the unsuspecting ear drums of those about to burn!

With the ink just dry on their contract with Ripple Music, it is being announced that WEED IS WEED has also signed on with 313 INC Artist Management to help further their reach and plan their underground takeover.

Watch for some pre-release touring to be announced soon.

It’s no doubt that the riffs are gonna be huge, the vocals are gonna be gritty and the low-end will rumble that PBR floating in your stomach. Weed Is Weed is taking over… and it’s going to be a smoky green revolution.

Check out some sneak peeks of the upcoming release, Blunt Force Trauma (Ripple Music) now at

APE MACHINE – Gearing Up For West Coast Tour Dates

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Metal, Music, rock bands, rock music, rock music news, stoner rock with tags , , , , , on October 3, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Ape Machine - live promo band pic - #8 - 2013

Portland, Oregon’s APE MACHINE is sowing their seeds by continuing an onslaught of regional touring of the urban wastelands of the U.S. West Coast!

The quartet that admittedly is “out to melt faces and pound the apathy out of otherwise jaded listeners” is eager to bring the live Machine back to stages, and show the masses what hard and heavy music is supposed to do to the senses. APE MACHINE is revisiting some frequent haunts of past West Coast tours all in the support of the band’s critically acclaimed Ripple Music debut, Mangled By The Machine, and this time playing in the coveted opening slot in San Diego for UK’s monsters of retro rock, Orange Goblin!

“We’ve been home for a month now, and though it’s been great to work on writing new songs, we’re all hungry to back out and rock some more!” Stated guitarist Ian Watts on the bands mind-set for getting back on the road, “One of the dates on this run is with Orange Goblin, who we shared the stage with at Freak Valley Festival in Germany. Those guys kick ass so we’re looking forward to rocking with them again!”

APE MACHINE, Ripple Music and have conspired to give one lucky winner a copy of Mangled By The Machine on CD and vinyl LP. The contest remains open through Friday, October 4. Enter to win at

Mangled By The Machine was released in early May of 2013 by Ripple Music, and is distributed throughout the North America through Nail/Allegro Distribution, the UK through Code 7, and Continental Europe through Clearspot International.

Ape Machine - Mangled By The Machine - promo cover pic

Critical Praise:

“I never thought I’d find a stoner-rock group that will appeal to fans of The Sword and Whitesnake, but here it is. No seeds or stems, either.”Tucson Weekly

“Blending equal parts rock ‘n’ roll, blues, stoner rock and psychedelia, Ape Machine is a band whose heart is steeped in the rich musical history of the late ’60s and ’70s. That doesn’t mean they’re some kind of hippie dippy throwback band. Ape Machine delivers their material with heavy metal muscle…”

A true four-piece, Portland, Oregon’s APE MACHINE has been called “a rock and roll band with a finger on the pulse of the 70’s and their asses firmly in the present” and “real heavy-psych for the iPhone generation” that delivers “true guts and glory rock and roll.” Combining psychedelic, classic and progressive rock with arena-worthy metal, bluesy stoner-rock and catchy riffs in odd signatures, APE MACHINE’s music carries an organic depth and warmth rarely heard since the time of rock’s glorious early years (or your Dad’s bad ass record collection) infused with an exceptional modern sensibility.

Having finished up a short Southwestern and West Coast U.S. jaunt with Austrian retro-rock sensation, Been Obscene, APE MACHINE is preparing to take their laser precision, yet frenzied live show to Europe in late May (including dates with the much vaunted Orange Goblin) in support of their brand new album, Mangled By The Machine.

Mangled By The Machine was released in May 2013 through Ripple Music. The album was recorded and mixed by Tony Lash at Supernatural Sound in Oregon City, Oregon, and in typical, unique APE MACHINE fashion, the album was recorded as one long continuous track in one take. Broken into ten individual chapters, Mangled By The Machine is an angry conceptual piece of music that takes a cue from the masters of the 70’s progressive masters, yet reflects the immediacy of the chaotic world all around us.

CLUTCH Concert Overview: CLUTCH At The Crocodile Rock Cafe, Allentown, PA, December 30, 2012

Clutch - WINO - Saviours - mondo generator - show flyer - Dec - 2012

Stone’s Last Metal Hurrah In Allentown With Metal Buddies Danielle & Lee!

CLUTCH – A packed house. No, make that a super-duper packed house to its maximum and (probably) illegal potential. The number of Heavy Rock and Metal fans that jammed into the Crocodile Rock Cafe, in Allentown Pennsylvania, on a very cold Sunday night on December 3oth was above alarming. There were so many people entering The Crocodile Rock Cafe on this night, that it was difficult to distinguish the ID/ticket line from the men’s rest room line! Yes, confusion was an uninvited guest.

My two Metal buddies, Danielle and Lee, picked me up at my house, with plenty of time to spare for seeing this undeniable kick-ass lineup of bands. The three of us were certain we would see WINO, Saviours and Mondo Generator; as well as the highly anticipated headliner of this bill: CLUTCH. Instead, our night of Hard & Heavy Rockin’ jubilation came to a disappointing stop (before CLUTCH hit the stage) due to the size of the unexpected crowd that filled this famous venue.

Apparently, a sold-out CLUTCH show from the Starland Ballroom (Sayreville, New Jersey) was re-scheduled for this same night at the Crocodile Rock Cafe. Both shows were sold-out, hence the over-capacity crowd. Hurricane Sandy did some extensive damage to the Starland Ballroom, that’s why the re-scheduling took place. It would have made more sense to have CLUTCH perform on consecutive nights or on separate dates to accommodate so many ticket holders to “2” different shows, in my Metal opinion. Shit happens, I guess.CLUTCH - Croc Rock - ticket - December 2012

We ordered and ate some pizza slices at the adjoining restaurant; Lee and I guzzled down some beer (Yuengling Lager), while Danielle smacked down some mixed drinks that were tempting to me. However, I stuck to the brews. As the venue continued to fill, we couldn’t find it in ourselves to even attempt breaking into the line… that’s not Metal. This “line” of fans seemed endless to us. We missed the acoustic set of the legendary WINO and that super sucked. Saviours we did hear in the distance and it broke my Metal heart in two to have missed them as well.

Time was passing and we were getting screwed out of a night of Heavy Rockin’ bliss. Hanging out in the bar and sharing laughs with fellow Metal buddies isn’t a total loss, however. You can’t put a price on hanging out with people who make you feel good. As a bonus, I got introduced to mutual friends of Danielle and Lee’s and they were downright cool as hell. As the venue became a sea of humans all seeking the same Metal fix we were, I became worried that I wouldn’t see any band perform live at all!

Mondo Generator came on stage and that was it! The three of us finally were able to get into the venue. Lee fought his way to the merch table (on the side area of the stage) to buy himself a CLUTCH tee. Whoa! That took Metal courage. Lee is a bona-fide badass anyways. Danielle was nowhere to be found for a while, she and a friend took off into the crowd. That didn’t surprise me, cause Danielle is one badass gal. She could probably kick my ass without trying. I ventured back out into the bar cause I just couldn’t breathe. Really. I’ve been to more club shows than I can count over the years and this night was like being packed into a cardboard box of sweaty humans… with the heat turned on high. Unreal.

Eventually Danielle and Lee met up with me back in the bar. More Yuengling Lagers were consumed while good-times laughter swirled around us. As a steady flow of battle-scarred fans began to file out of the venue, their chatter was universal; “can’t breathe in there”, “never saw a crowd like this here, it’s scary” and “can’t move in there” were common remarks I heard.

Clutch - band logo!!

By the time CLUTCH hit the stage, we were all back inside the venue; no more than fifteen feet from the exit door to the bar. I actually had a prime view of the stage from standing at the end of the (inside) bar, with no obstructions, save for the cool bartender gal that served up the Yuengling Lager to me! Whoa. At this point of the night, I was getting overcome with a (rather welcomed) beer blitz that was top-tier and couldn’t write down the set-list that CLUTCH hammered out if I tried. Metal be thy name and let the good times roll! Hey, as they say back in Burrville, Connecticut: beer happens.

I’ll say this much, CLUTCH kicked legitimate, 100%, potent, high-octane, F’n unreal, Hard and Heavy Rockin’ ass on that December night. Holy Metal shit and tell all the villagers, CLUTCH is a band that was born to play live! If you look up the definition for Heavy Rockin’ Thunder, you’re gonna read: CLUTCH. If you look up the definition for CLUTCH, you’re gonna read: kicks severe and thunderous Heavy Rockin’ ass. It’s that simple. Seeing and hearing CLUTCH perform live was worth every penny of admission.

During my entire live CLUTCH experience, I had the feeling that the entire venue was gonna cave into one gigantic sinkhole; all due to the heavy as fuckin’ hell Rock ‘N’ Roll that CLUTCH was administering upon the thousands of fans inside the Crocodile Rock Cafe. What a band. What a night. Hanging out with Metal buddies Danielle and Lee, experiencing live CLUTCH and way too many Yuengling Lagers. What more can Stone ask for? Metal be thy name.

I did buy some CLUTCH vinyl after the show and bought Danielle a CD. The merch table had their 2004 album Blast Tyrant (on double vinyl) for sale and I bought it! Whoa! The three of us hung out for a while in the back parking lot, waiting for CLUTCH to come out. We finally gave up around 1:00 a.m. and decided to call it a night.

Clutch - Blast Tyrant - promo cover pic!________________________________________________

Due to my relocating to Ohio, this CLUTCH show marked the last time I’d be raising Metal hell at the Crocodile Rock Cafe. I’m gonna miss that place, with all the Grand Metal memories I’ve had there. I’m gonna miss Danielle and Lee more though… cause Metal buddies like them are without question: priceless.

This post is dedicated to my 2 Metal buddies for life: Danielle and Lee. I thank and love you both.

Sept. 2012, Philadelphia – Royal Thunder, the co-ed quartet who released their acclaimed debut album CVI this Spring, embark on their first headlining tour on Oct. 21.

The Atlanta-based band has also been added to Fun Fun Fun Fest, perform two Texas dates with Valient Thorr and will join Pig Destroyer on Oct. 19 for a show in Baltimore. Royal Thunder is currently on the road with Pallbearer, with the tour wrapping up on Sunday in Lawrence, Kan.

With the June release of CVI, Royal Thunder stepped out of the Metal underground, garnering a  great deal of praise from a variety of outlets including Spin (“a stunning breakthrough”), NPR ( “not only builds on the promise of a great EP, but it’s also a portrait of songs that have been painstakingly lived in”), Pitchfork (“Mlny Parsonz is a nontraditional blues-rock banshee of a woman, equal parts riot grrl and gospel diva”) and Revolver (“essential”).

Vocalist/guitar player Mlny Parsonz recently appeared on the cover of Decibel Magazine‘s inaugural Women in Metal issue. The album is currently streaming in its entirety at

NEW KEEPERS OF THE WATER TOWERS – Swedish Stoner Rock Band Issue Album Update

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock bands, Music, rock bands, rock music, rock music news, stoner rock with tags , , , , on September 6, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Main songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Rasmus of Sweden’s NEW KEEPERS OF THE WATER TOWERS has issued the following update regarding the long-awaited third album from the celebrated Stoner Rock outfit:

“For the past year and a half we have been working in and out of the studio on this, our third, album. It’s been a long process of developing and enriching our music with more genre defying sounds, dark lyrics about life and death, a lot of experimenting with musical directions and tinkering with richer harmonic arrangements. To put it bluntly, we’ve been recording an epic. None of us have ever put this much effort and emotion into a piece of music, so it means a lot to us and now that we are in the final steps of recording we feel very proud of what we have accomplished and I don’t think there is any doubt in our minds that we have succeeded in creating the album we set out to record.”

Song titles to be featured on the upcoming album include “Visions of Death,” “Cosmic Child,” “He Who Greets With Fire” and “The Great Leveler.” A spring 2013 release through Listenable Records has been scheduled for the album.

ALL HAIL THE YETI – Los Angeles Stoner Metal Act’s Debut LP Nears Release On AFM Records

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, sludge metal, stoner rock with tags , , , , , , on August 2, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

German Metal juggernaut AFM Records has signed crushing Los Angeles-based Metal quartet ALL HAIL THE YETI, the band’s self-titled debut album now confirmed for North American release on August 28th! Uniting elements of Sludge Metal, Hardcore and groove-laden Hard Rock, ALL HAIL THE YETI unify these influences into their own diverse, modern style which is delivered in a way to make people move.

ALL HAIL THE YETI‘s self-titled debut album captures the act’s most crushing tunes to date, with over a solid hour of energized thunderous riffage. The band has documented the creation of the album as well as the band’s overall whiskey-soaked, fight-fueled, locked-cocked-and-ready-to-rock approach, liberated through a killer new trailer viewable AT THIS LOCATION.

Featuring well-known tattoo artist Connor Garritty of Timeless Tattoos in L.A., ALL HAIL THE YETI have forged their own path through what they see as a desolate Hollywood music scene, the hard-working unit dead-set against burning out like so many bands from the same town and scene have, over the past few decades of heavy music. Coinciding with their 2010-released Trees On Fire With Songs OF Blood EP, the band broke into the local scene with a surge of shows which led them to support slots for major national acts including Times of Grace, Soulfly, Fear Factory, Suicide Silence and more.

With no record deal in place at the time, last year AHTY took it upon themselves to get things moving and entered the studio with producers Tommy Decker and Mike Sarkisyan to record their self-titled, debut LP. Upon its completion, the album received attention from several labels, and after some talks with AFM about the direction and goals of the band, happily took the deal the label offered them for the release of All Hail The Yeti.

Stay tuned for live updates and much more on ALL HAIL THE YETI as they stomp their way into the international scene in the months ahead.

As previously announced, Southern Lord Recordings will release a deluxe reissue of one the most essential albums of modern times – Dopesmoker from Stoner Metal icons, SLEEP. This reissue is entirely remastered from the original smoke-encrusted Ampex reels, and features an unreleased live recording of one their greatest live performances — “Holy Mountain” from San Francisco’s I-Beam in 1994 — as well as a brand new artwork by long time SLEEP artist Arik Roper, who crafted something truly special and consciousness-expanding for the album’s rebirth. Check it out at THIS LOCATION.

Dopesmoker stands as one of the towering achievements in recent metal history: a mesmerizing, intoxicating, and incredibly complex composition that remains unrivaled in the evolution of Stoner Metal.

In conjunction with its release, SLEEP will be headlining the 2012 edition of the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Netherlands before departing on a 24-city tour of Europe and the UK commencing May 3 in Wroclaw, Poland.

HeavyPink – Debut / ST: 7″ Vinyl Single Showcases 2 Scintillating Songs

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Music, psychedelic rock, rock music, rock music news, stoner rock with tags , , , , , , , on March 16, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

HEAVYPINK – I just recently had the Rockin’ pleasure to listen to the debut & self-titled 7″ single from HeavyPink. This is the current project from T. Dallas Reed, (vocalist & multi-instrumentalist), known for his membership with Mos Generator and Stone Axe. (See full press release below for more detailed background info).

Now, for the two songs I took in from this single. Whoa. Whoa again. Um, Mr. Reed… please create more? Um, like, how about a full-length album next week? I’m telling both my Heavy Music and Classic Rock brethren right now, both Flower And Song and There Is A Light are as clever as one could wish for when it comes to Heavy Rock ‘N Roll. With swirls of psychedelia adding ambience amongst the inter-changing tempos of both songs, a 70’s Hard Rock vibe just spills over my senses as I listen with Rockaholic glee.

The way in which these two songs come across to me, they both remind me of hanging out and chilling during the Summertime. Earthy vibes I sense from these songs as well. The guitar tones seem to trigger it all. Go figure.

I applaud T. Dallas Reed for his exceptional end result here with HeavyPink. His fantastic musicianship and vocals come packaged with an honest approach to making Heavy Music that’s both retrospective and relevant. His vocals are subtly reminiscent of a 70’s era Ozzy Osbourne on these songs while the feel of Classic Stoner Rock fills the air. After listening to both songs several times, my best comparison would be Sabbath Bloody Sabbath meets the open-air atmosphere of The Yes Album while being bookended by a Stoner finish.

Metal. Be. Thy. Name.

Essential Press Release:

The Maple Forum is thrilled be releasing the self-titled debut 7” from HeavyPink, the latest project of T. Dallas Reed (Stone Axe, Mos Generator). The vinyl single is limited to 300 and features two brand new cuts, “Flower and Song” and “There is a Light,” exploring a rarely-heard psychedelic side of the Port Orchard, Washington, native’s songwriting.

Reed, who is notoriously DIY, played all the instruments on HeavyPink, sang himself, and recorded the material at his own HeavyHead studio. Fans of Stone Axe will be thrilled to discover that although he is working in a different style, the signature elements of Reed’s work remain intact, most pivotally that there’s zero bullshit involved.

He explains the project’s origins thusly: “Before Mos Generator took our hiatus in 2009 we were working on an album to be called HeavyPink. When the band shelved the project I decided to pick up the concept and use it as a tool to try different recording and writing techniques. I look at it as an experiment in heavy and beautiful music, like ‘Master of Reality’ meets ‘Pet Sounds,’ meets ‘Into the Pandemonium’ all in one and produced by Phil Spector.”
