CORONATUS – “Fernes Land” Music Video Is Beauty And The Metal! New Album “Terra Incognita” Releases November 18th, 2011 On Massacre Records

CORONATUS – Releasing on November 18th, 2011, on Massacre Records, is the new studio album from the German Gothic Metal band Coronatus: Terra Incognita. Below is the music video for Fernes Land and I’m digging it a Metal ton. It’s those beautiful vocals from those two beautiful gals that seals the deal for me! Mareike Makosch (Alto Voice) and Lady Ada Flechtner (Rock Soprano) come across as relaxed and ultra talented with this duet. The guitar solo kicks some serious ass too.

This is one fantastic band to keep your ears out for and support! Listen and watch the music video below for Fernes Land, hopefully you might dig it as much as I do.

* The North American release date for Terra Incognita is December 6th, 2011.

SANGUINE – Recently a Metal band from the UK has crossed my Metal path and given my ears some hefty whoop-ass they hunger for. SANGUINE. This Metal foursome, fronted by Tarin Kerrey, have a Modern/Alt sound and vibe to stand-out from the Metal crowd. Tarin’s vocals are the stuff to rip your Metal lovin’ soul apart and then again… her vocal harmony can also stop you in your tracks, leaving you begging for more.

SANGUINE is all about DIY and they are impressing some of the biggest named Rock and Metal magazines out there, with Rocksound and the mighty Metal Hammer extending their praise. Solidly tight musicianship and creative song writing comes right at me, as I listen to For Love. Check out the music video of For Love below and brace yourself for a damn good song, from a band that is aiming for the top of the Heavy Music world.

Directed by Carl Shanahan

RE-ARMED have been up since 2001, when five guys in Kerava, Finland decided to start playing music similar to so-called “Göteborg Metal”.

Their musical style has evolved along with many critically acclaimed demo tapes. Becoming a style that is a combination of technical, grooving Death Metal with Thrash and Grind influences, spiced up with melodic lines.

During the years some line-up changes have occurred within the band but they have still managed to grow musically, as well as individuals.

Be sure to get your hands on their debut album, “Worldwide Hypnotize”, which is scheduled to be released on Massacre Records, on January 27, 2012!

PREY FOR NOTHING – Signs With Massacre Records, Second Studio Album Drops On December 9th, 2011

Posted in Death Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, melodic death metal, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on October 27, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

PREY FOR NOTHING was forged in the fiery cities of Northern Israel.

After playing with Iron Maiden’s original singer, Paul Di’Anno, Yaniv Aboudy (guitars), Amir Salomon (bass) and Iftah Levi (drums) decided to dissolve their Prog-Metal band Damnnation in order to form a band more extreme and write songs more suitable to their musical taste.

PREY FOR NOTHING was joined by Yotam ‘Defiler’ Avni (vocals) with his acid throat and iron lungs, and the band released their debut album “Violence Divine” in 2008.

Inspired by classic Metal acts like Death, At The Gates and Testament, the band was joined by second guitarist Tal Behar (Orphaned Land live guitar player) and toured Israel, growing a massive following in the local scene.

Combining Progressive Metal elements to sheer Death Metal brutality, PREY FOR NOTHING can attract the fans of Opeth, Behemoth and all in between!

PREY FOR NOTHING’s second album “Against All Good & Evil” will be released on Massacre Records, on December 9, 2011!

W.A.S.P. – The legendary Blackie Lawless is currently celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Heavy Metal band he founded, nurtured and made into a dominating force, a band known across the globe as W.A.S.P. and the celebration is called: W.A.S.P. 30 Years Of Thunder. Fans can go directly to W.A.S.P. NATION and read both Part One and Part Two of W.A.S.P. 30 Years Of Thunder.

Blackie Lawless has written, in detail, the early beginnings of W.A.S.P. in Part One, (which was posted on W.A.S.P. Nation in September) and Blackie continues on with the early stages of W.A.S.P. history with Part Two (which was posted up this month of October). In the coming months, Blackie Lawless will serve up more W.A.S.P. history, as he writes about the evolution of his band and more amazingly cool stories and facts.

Best Metal buddy/Metal Odyssey’s Metal Researcher Scott Coverdale came across Part One and was ecstatic about this W.A.S.P. anniversary, bringing it all to my Metal attention… I too share in the same Metal excitement. Scott and I both congratulate Blackie Lawless and W.A.S.P.! Here’s to another 30 Years Of Thunder! Metal be thy name.

FEERSUM ENNJIN – Self-Titled Debut Moves To Nov. 22nd, 2011 Release Date

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock albums, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on October 26, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

PAUL D’AMOUR, FORMER TOOL BASS PLAYER, REUNITES WITH TOOL DRUMMER DANNY CAREY FOR NEW SONG

Oct. 25, LOS ANGELES – Feersum Ennjin, the new Rock band from former Tool bass player/Lusk founder Paul D’Amour, has moved their self-titled debut album to a Nov. 22 release date to add a new song (“The Fourth“) that reunites D’Amour with his former band mate Danny Carey (drummer for Tool).

D’Amour and Carey last worked together on the 1995 release of Tool’s album Aenima.

Paul D’Amour

Initial thoughts were to save the new song for the next Feersum Ennjin release but D’Amour was eager to share the track and a decision to push the release of Feersum Ennjin to Nov. 22 to allow for the inclusion of “The Fourth” was made.

D’Amour remained with Tool until the 1995 release of Aenima.  He also founded the psychedelic outfit Lusk with Brad Laner (Medicine), Greg Edwards (Autolux, Failure) and Chris Pitman (Gun N’Roses). Lusk released one critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated release, Free Mars, in 1997 but their label imploded shortly thereafter and the group subsequently disbanded.  D’Amour moved on to film composition, where he has spent the next dozen years quietly working on music for film and television.

IRON CLAW – Guitarist and Founding Member Jimmy Ronnie Comments On Band’s Lead Vocalist Transition

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on October 24, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

Today, Jimmy Ronnie (guitarist and founding member of Scotland’s Hard Rock pioneers IRON CLAW) commented to Metal Odyssey on the recent departure of vocalist Gordon Brown. Thank you Jimmy! Here is what Jimmy had to say:

“As far as Gordon’s departure goes I haven’t really got much more to add, beyond that has already been said by Gordon himself. There is no bad feeling between us and we wish him good fortune in his future musical endeavours. Gordon has done a fine job on the album and that remains for all to hear. It’s just that the time had come for us to go in separate directions and when it came down to it we found ourselves in complete agreement on that point”.

“Iron Claw is still very much alive and looking forward to working with the next lead vocalist. There are plans to take the live show to audiences both here in the UK and abroad and Ripple Music have confirmed their desire to release another album in a year or so. Many thanks to Metal Odyssey for your continuing support”.

Monday’s Question Of The Day: Why Is Chicago Not In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, Hard Rock, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on October 24, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

CHICAGO – Yes, on a very frequent basis I do rant, regarding the obvious omissions of legendary bands/musicians that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame are embarrassingly guilty of not inducting for membership. Believe me, this is not the first time nor the last, that I am ranting about the ignorance and politics of The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
