Can’t wait for the new album “PARANORMAL” to come out! I’m excited to unveil the new album’s cover, featuring photos by Rob Fenn. The new single “PARANOIC PERSONALITY” is out on June 9th, and the full album is out July 28th! Paranormal will be released by earMUSIC as a Double CD Digipak, Double LP, a Limited Box Set, and in digital formats!
There are 12 tracks that were recorded in Nashville with my long-time collaborator Bob Ezrin and features a very special bonus CD — a mini-album consisting of three brand new songs written and recorded together with original Alice Cooper band members Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, Michael Bruce, alongside carefully selected live recordings.
Paranormal also features special guest appearances by U2‘s Larry Mullen Jr., ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons, and Deep Purple‘s Roger Glover.
Released in 1987, Triumph And Agonyis the fourth studio album from German Heavy Metal titans WARLOCK. The record was a mammoth success globally with hit singles and MTV’s Headbangers Ball favorites All We Are and Für immer among other now-pinnacle anthems like East Meets West,Metal Tango, Rule The Ruins, and Touch Of Evil. Triumph And Agony stands among Heavy Metal’s true cult classics.
Gushed Decibel Magazine of the zenith offering, “Triumph And Agony contains one glorious anthem after another for the duration of its (too short) forty-minute run time. ‘All We Are’ is the big fist-pumper, their ‘Rock You Like A Hurricane’ or ‘You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.’ ‘Three Minute Warning’ absolutely scorches, something Accept would have been proud to write. ‘I Rule The Ruins’ lays waste to everything and THEN rules it. ‘Kiss Of Death’ provides the requisite tragic vampire soliloquy, and ‘Make Time For Love’ provides the requisite drama ballad. ‘East Meets West’ taps some serious spine with its love letter to the Land Of The Rising Sun, while ‘Metal Tango’ may be the only, well, metal tango. And then there’s ‘Touch Of Evil,’ which ends with one of the most astonishing vulgar displays of screeching ever recorded.”
And three decades later, the record has lost none of its charm. In honor of its 30th anniversary, this September, WARLOCK vocalist Doro Pesch will, for the first time ever, perform the fist-raising full-length in its entirety on two European festival dates this Summer and a special run of US live performances. Joined by original Triumph And Agony guitarist Tommy Bolan alongside bassist Nick Douglas, drummer Johnny Dee, guitarist Bas Maas and guitarist/keyboardist Luca Princiotta, Pesch will hit Worcester, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
“Triumph And Agony was our breakthrough album in America,” issues Pesch, “and it’s still one of my absolute favorites! I’m so excited to play some of these songs for the first time and I’m so much looking forward to play with Tommy again. I’m sure it’s gonna sound great and we’ll put on a killer show.”
Hearing the news of Chris Cornells’ passing was a shock to my system. After last year’s dreadful losses of musics’ most significant legends, who could ever predict Chris Cornell would leave us in 2017? Not me. My day job supervisor, Mark, told me the news at around 6:30 in the morning this past Thursday. All I can remember is my saying aloud: “no, no, no, no” and feeling like another ruthless blow to the world of music has emerged once again.
I feel very bad for the circumstance that Chris Cornell died from. No one will ever know what his saddened soul and heart were feeling, leading up to his suicide. I also feel sorrow (if not more) for his family that he’s left behind; I cannot imagine their enormous grief. I always say to myself and others, the life of celebrity and fortune is not a guarantee of harmony and control. I always considered (and forever will) that Chris Cornell was the greatest, if not one of the greatest singers of my generation.
Not to sound selfish, only the thought that both Soundgarden and Audioslave are done makes me very sad. Even any future solo work from Chris Cornell is gone. Still, compared to his wife and children losing both a husband and father, there is no comparison to us fans losing only his bands and future musical creations. I express the deepest of condolences to his wife, children and extended family; may they stay strong as ever and never give up hope. I sincerely hope Chris Cornell has now found the peace and happiness he was looking for. May God rest his soul.
Die-hard and casual fans of Jorn Lande know he can sing lights out. I love the vocals and discography from Jorn Lande, both with Masterplan and solo as JORN. Jorn Lande is a world-class singer of Heavy Metal and he has nothing to lose by releasing Heavy Rock Radio, an album of 12 cover songs… or does he? JORN sings very well on songs: Stormbringer, Rainbow In The Dark and Don’t Stop Believing; only the vocals of David Coverdale, Ronnie James Dio and Steve Perry, respectively, made their songs magical and timeless, whereas JORN is better off at being a fan of these three songs.
Certainly, there are slight differences musically with each song on this album, compared to the original song; for me to get into each and every nuance regarding such differences would make me look like I have nothing better to do. Seriously. I’ll try to give you all the scary details about this album; so strap yourself in for I’m not being Mr. fanboy right now.
JORN fails miserably with the cover of the iconic Queen song: Killer Queen. It’s so stale both vocally and musically that if I was producing this album it would have been left off. Hotel California is no better. Sorry, this song should never, ever, ever be covered by nobody. All that JORN did with the Eagles Hotel Californiais make it into a second-tier, county fair, who cares, (let’s make a) Heavy Metal cover song. The electric guitar brilliance of Eagles legends Don Felder and Joe Walsh on the original Hotel California song is breathtaking to me, especially their extended dual-solo; why JORN messed with this is beyond me.
Above: Jorn Lande
JORN even (gulp) covers I Know There’s Something GoingOn by (gulp) ABBA member Frida. Oh my God is this song a disaster. WTF!? JORN? What were you thinking, dude? Why pick this song? JORN’s cover of this early 80’s bubble-gum song should not be. I’m not sorry for saying that. It’s that seriously awful. It just sounds like Jorn Lande was not pumped up for this album at all. I won’t even mention the cover of the Black Sabbath classic: Die Young. Forget about it. Not worth our time here.
The two huge highlights on this album are Jorn Lande and his band knocking the Paul Stanley song, Live To Win, right out of the park. JORN also excels with the cover of John Farnham’s song: You’re The Voice. Jorns’ vocals are powerful on these songs, the way it should be. I honestly love these covers of two such inspirational songs and JORN actually gives them both a jolt or two of extra inspiration. Unfortunately, minus the two aforementioned songs, this album as a sum of its parts is absolutely not very good at all and I am shocked as hell by it all. – Stone

Stone Says: I am absolutely psyched outta my skull to hear this new STYX studio album! STYX forever! Whoa! I can care in the least that Dennis DeYoung is not with STYX anymore. No offense to Dennis DeYoung at all; he’s been doing his own gig for years now very successfully. For God’s sake, those that complain about Dennis DeYoung no longer being with STYX: GET OVER IT. Take some EX-LAX. That’s life.
It’s been how many years now that STYX has survived (very well) without Dennis DeYoung? KISS has survived without Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. It’s the way the Rock ‘N’ Roll world turns. ‘Nuff said. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone
UK Rock trio RavenEye are thrilled to announce they have been invited to tour Europe as Special Guests of KISS, one of rock’s most notorious and influential bands. They have also been added as Special Guests on the Hellyeah UK tour in April. The band was recently added to the Download festivals in Spain and France, as well as Bulgaria’s Plovdiv Festival.
Since releasing their wildly successful EP, ‘Breaking Out’, and debut album ‘NOVA, RavenEye has toured globally, supporting Slash, Deep Purple, The Darkness and Halestorm amongst others. The band has headlined their own tours through Europe and America as well as performing at major international Rock festivals such as Download Festival (UK), Hellfest Open Air Festival (France), Azkena Rock Festival ARF (Spain), Rock For People (Czech Republic), Louder Than Life (U.S.), Aftershock Festival (U.S.), Maximus Festival (Brazil and Argentina) and most recently the Shiprocked Cruise 2017. Their incendiary live shows have captivated crowds and put them on the map as a ‘must see live’ band.

“Blues rock riffs that slither their way into your brain” – Kerrang
“Hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck hard rock epic you’ll thank yourself for finding” – The Sun
“Keep an eye on Raveneye. They are organic, raw and I hear a real ‘70s influence with these guys. When a band like this nails it, you never forget it. Wait for that riff in the middle of the song.” – Nikki Sixx

Many of you already know my wife/partner/best friend Renee Keel has been diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. She will undergo 4-6 months of chemo which begins next week, followed by extensive surgery including a mastectomy.
We are so very thankful for all the kind words, support, love and outpouring of prayers and well wishes that have come our way.
Renee is the strongest and toughest woman I’ve ever known, and we both remain positive as we begin this battle together. Since we met, she has been my strength and inspiration – if she hadn’t come into my life when she did, there would have been no KEEL reunion, no “Streets of Rock & Roll,” no Metal Cowboy. Now I have the opportunity to prove myself worthy of her love and support.
I plan to aggressively apply all my energy and resources to her treatment and recovery. Obviously I have adopted a new hairstyle to show my support and as a physical and visual representation of what this means to me.
In the weeks and months to come I will be doing everything I can to generate revenue to help pay the massive medical expenses that are quickly piling up. I will be liquidating most of my primary assets, from our Nevada property (10 acres in the Sierra Nevada Mountains) down to every last $5 autographed 8×10 photo I can sell – and everything in between. I will be launching and releasing new musical products, merchandise, and selling unique vintage memorabilia from my career collection. So when you see me online pimping my products and personal items, you’ll know why.
Our dear friends at Hoy Trial Lawyers, where Renee has been working part time these past few months, have stepped up to lead the charge by establishing the Renee Keel Benefit Account/Cancer Fund for those who wish to help. They’ve made it super easy: you can donate by PayPal directly by CLICKING HERE (or login to your PayPal and send to reneekeelcancerfund@yahoo.com) – and you can walk into ANY US Bank in the country, coast to coast, and just deposit directly into the “Renee Keel Benefit Account” – you won’t need the account number or any other details. Scott and Char Hoy have generously offered to match the first $5000.00 with a donation from Hoy Trial Lawyers and Renee and I are forever grateful for their friendship and compassion.
I also plan to work my ass off on stage and off, doing every gig, session, or appearance that makes sense. I will carefully juggle any travel dates around Renee’s condition and treatment. So whether it’s BHB, solo acoustic shows, Keel, or the Metal Cowboy serving as DJ for your wedding reception, I’m going to do whatever I can do. The music will not stop, because she wants me to do what I do – it makes us money and it makes me happy, which in turn makes her happy.
I will also of course be continuing as your Master of Mid-Day Mayhem on KBAD 94.5 Monday-Friday at 10 AM CST, rocking your radio harder and better than ever. I will miss time here and there to be with Renee on the tough days – like next week when her chemotherapy starts – and I thank my amazing co-workers at KBAD for their support and for covering for me on those days.
My endless appreciation goes out to all the fans who have given me the chance to entertain you while living my dream and finding the love of my life. It’s good to know you’ve got my back while Renee and I begin this fight.
Happy Metal New Year to all! 2016 was an exceptionally busy year for me; I changed my day job along with moving with the family once again. I also grieved for the loss of my Dad; he passed away on December 19th of 2015 and the carry-over of sadness was difficult. Our family move this time however, was to the city where we feel most comfortable and our new (1902) house instantly felt like its’ arms had wrapped around us with welcoming comfort and joy. Our last house felt like it hated our guts and I’m not fooling around by stating that.
2016 kept me busy with many personal challenges to tend to besides the previous mentioned, subsequently I did have to cut back on posting for Metal Odyssey. It happens to the best of us. I look forward to posting a TON MORE than last year, with no life changing obstacles in my path as 2016 had… none that I can see at the moment, that is. Whoa.
As during previous years, I look forward to spreading the Gospel of Metal and Classic Rock in 2017. The 8th year Anniversary of Metal Odyssey will be on March 1st and you’re all invited for the Metal ride! I wish all my loyal subscribers and casual visitors to Metal Odyssey the very best of everything in 2017. Stay true to Metal and it will stay true to you. Metal Be Thy Name. – Stone

I first met Scott Coverdale back in 1988, while we were both attending the same Community College together. Our relationship has bonded into a legit brotherhood ever since. Scott has been a tremendous Metal researcher for Metal Odyssey these last several years, as well. In other words, Scott is my very BEST Metal Buddy. ‘Nuff said.
Scott Coverdale was hugely fortunate to attend the Black Sabbath concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, back on August 27th of this year. This of course was one stop for Black Sabbaths’ “The End” Tour.
Above: My autographed CD digipak (left inner side of duofold) – Tony Iommi & Geezer Butler.
I never thought in a million Metal years that Scott would purchase for me, as gifts, a tour tee and autographed “The End” CD for me, while he was at this show! Then again, this type of generosity from Scott is nothing new to me either. From everything that Scott told me about this Black Sabbath concert, he had a grand Metal experience!
Take a look below and above at the autographed tee and CD gifts I received from my Best Metal Buddy Scott! I still cannot believe I have this incredible cool and historic Black Sabbath concert merch! Thank you again, Scott! A brother like you I can never take for granted. Metal Be Thy Name!

BREAKING NEWS:Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the highly anticipated new studio album from PRIDE OF LIONS, FEARLESS, on January 27, 2017.
When Frontiers released Pride Of Lions’ groundbreaking first album in 2003, many people asked, “Is this one of those project bands that do one or two albums and then disappear – or a real band with staying power?”
Now, in the year 2017 the answer to that question will be very clear as the band release their FIFTH studio album, FEARLESS! Additionally, their best-selling “Live In Belgium” album and video proves to the world that Jim Peterik and Toby Hitchcock and the powerful Pride Of Lions band is not just a studio concoction, but a live force to be reckoned with, headlining shows in America and Europe.
“We are always trying to top ourselves,” states singer/ songwriter/ guitarist Jim Peterik. “This time I went back and listened closely to all the previous albums to hear the strongest assets of each record: what was working and what could be improved. I went into writing the FEARLESS material keeping that in mind. I feel it sticks closer to the template we set with our first release, yet goes to new places musically as well like using a Kansas style fiddle played by Andrew Ohlrich – on the video/single “All I See is You”.”
The songs and performances on FEARLESS are…well… truly fearless. The title track blazes from the speakers gaining steam with every chorus. “Take the highest ground – stand and fight- you gotta be harder – you gotta be tougher – you gotta be – fearless!” This could be the new battle cry for Rocky Balboa or any common man needing to make a difference in the world.
“When I got together with Jim in Chicago to record, things just caught fire,” enthuses Toby. “I sang 12 vocals in two days! That’s how inspired I was with the new material.”
“Toby hit new heights on this one,” raves Jim. “I was sitting behind the recording console with Larry Millas just one big goose bump as Toby glided from hard rockers like “Rising Up”, classic melodic rock like “All I See Is You” to a heartfelt ode to timeless love – “Everlasting Love.”
Future classics include “The Tell”, where the main character is giving off signals she may not even realize to the mesmerizing magic of “Silent Music” (“I can’t help it if I talk funny – I can’t express the way I feel in spoken words – hold on”) to the mysterious “Freedom of the Night”. That last one was written with former Jimi Jamison keyboardist Hal Butler and the lyric, chord changes and melody seem to channel what Jimi might now be singing if his life had not been tragically cut short.
“The last track is one of my faves,” states Toby Hitchcock. “I think we all can relate to the often painful process of figuring out just who we are and how we fit on this planet. “Unmasking the Mystery” is not something that happens all at once – it happens over time and on our last day we still won’t have all the answers.”
The album will be supported by live dates – in the States and abroad with the first show on January 28th as a part of Jim Peterik’s World Stage at Wentz Hall in Naperville, Illinois.
In early 2017, expect the premiere of the music video for “All I See Is You” directed by Greg Bizzarro. Greg has directed every POL video thus far, as well as the popular “Cold Blooded” video by Peterik / Scherer which starred Leann Marie of “I Can’t Hold Back” video fame.
So crank it up! The louder the better, after all “You gotta be fearless!!!”
