Candlelight Records today confirms November 11th as the North American release date for Obsideo, the new album from Dutch metal extremists PESTILENCE. Produced by vocalist/guitarist Patrick Mameli, the album is the band’s inaugural recording for the label and first new material from the four-piece since 2011.
“We have gone beyond our human limits to achieve the highest form of brutal music,” reveals Mameli when discussing the album’s creation. “The musicianship is such high quality; it is really ten of the most demanding songs written in death metal.”
Together with long-time guitarist Patrick Uterwijk,Mameli, bassist George Maier and drummer Dave Haley deliver a blistering and genre-lifting effort. “I am chuffed to have Dave in the lineup,” confirmed Mameli earlier this year while discussing the band’s updated cast. “He is one of the best extreme drummers in the world and his talent bring PESTILENCE to new levels. George is a young and talented bass player that will turn some heads. Both are really down to earth and real easy-going guys. Patrick, of course, is my most respected and long-going friend and musician.”
Obsideo boasts Mameli and his innovative guitar work. Utilizing eight-string guitars for the album’s recording, the celebrated musician expands his already massive arsenal of riffs. “The eight string guitar opens a lot of doors,” notes Mameli. “It gives lots of new musical options and allows us to make the music sound more brutal than before. It also forces me to sing in a higher pitch because I don’t want my vocals in the way of the low-tuned guitar parts. My vocals sound more intense and manic than before.”
Formed in 1986,PESTILENCE took influence from early American and German thrash metal to cultivate its now signature death metal sound. Recording four albums before disbanding in 1994, the band helped to usher the rise in popularity for the genre. Fourteen years later the band reformed; releasing two albums and exciting fans with live performances around the globe. “Mameli and company chose to steer efforts down paths previously unexplored whilst maintaining their vintage essence,” noted Chronicles of Chaos on the band’s 2009 album, Resurrection Macabre (Mascot).
PESTILENCE plans to begin touring in support of Obsideo in the early months of 2014; North America to be included in their worldwide takeover. The band’s last stateside performance was as a featured artist on the second annual 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise that left Miami shores on January 23, 2012.

On the thirteen-year anniversary of IMPALED’s The Dead Shall Dead Remain debut, the group will be releasing a re-recording entitled The Dead Still Dead Remain. Long tangled in legal limbo, the music from The Dead Shall Dead Remain has been unavailable on CD for over a decade. The re-recording dodges those legal hurdles and puts the music back in print.
The stakes were raised as IMPALED sought to best the production of the original. The Dead Still Dead Remain features recording and mixing by Vinnie Wojno, famous for his work with Testament. IMPALED and Wojno worked for three years to get the recording they wanted. “It simply sounds better, no matter how you slice it. And we surely do slice it!” says guitarist Jason Kocol.
IMPALED assures fans that the music on The Dead Still Dead Remain is faithful to the original. It features the return of vocalist Leon del Muerte, who says, “it was like the last thirteen years of backstabbing and spitefulness never happened!” Even the artwork, which the band insists has already been banned in 672 countries, harkens back to their first release but is even more revolting.
The shit will hit the fans when Willowtip Records releases The Dead Still Dead Remain on October 29. Preorder info will be available soon at THIS LOCATION.
Band To Begin Work On New Record; KickStarter Campaign Draws To A Close
_________________________________________
Tampa Death Metal icons OBITUARY will bring their brutal wares to the stage this Fall on a short series of live assaults. The tour begins with a pair of back-to-back shows at Brooklyn, New York’s Saint Vitus Bar on October 9 and 10, before flattening nine more venues through October 20. Having been holed-up in their own Redneck Studios the last few weeks penning the follow-up to 2009’s punishing Darkest Day full-length (2009), the shows serve as a temporary writing break.
Elaborates drummer Donald Tardy: “We have been busting our asses in the studio, having a blast and writing new material. Twelve songs are done and ready to be recorded but we want a monster album for our fans so we are working on a few more to make this record huge! We will continue writing until October when we will take a break from the studio and new music and go destroy the Trois-Rivieres Metalfest with Hatebreed and crush the US.”
The as-yet-untitled full-length will be recorded with the KickStarter funding help of their legion of dedicated fans around the globe. The campaign, rooted in an honest desire to produce the next record on their own terms, is in its final week.
“We’ve been creating death metal since 1984,” the band comments. “It’s who we are…it’s in our blood. If there’s one thing that we’ve learned touring all these years, it’s that OBITUARY fans are among the most loyal and supportive motherfuckers in the world! We’ve been trying to find better ways to engage with and give back to our fans. Over the past couple of years, we’ve streamed concerts live from around the globe, given away tons of merch packages and dozens of all-access backstage passes. It’s inspiring to see and share in your excitement about OBITUARY, and the inspiration that provides keeps us going. This is about putting our trust, our music, our career, and our new album in fans’ hands! We want to make music for the people who still come out to shows, still sport our gear, and still have a Slowly We Rot cassette in their car.”

Dark times are close indeed. For too long have mankind suffered under the rules of the Elite. It is time to spread the word of their Point Zero Solution.
Masterminded by award-winning director Patric Ullaeus (www.revolver.se); today Deals Death unveil the official music video for ‘Point Zero Solution’, the title track of their upcoming and much-anticipated album. ‘Point Zero Solution’ will be released via Spinefarm Records on 13th of September.
Watch ‘Point Zero Solution’ Here:
Guitarist and song composer Erik Jacobson comments: “Point Zero Solution introduces the factors that lie behind a weakened society, a failed state. The lyrics deal with our human behaviour and our quest for comfort and luxury, at any cost.”
A prevailing theme throughout, vocalist and lyricist Olle Ekman comments on the album as a whole. “It’s a step-by-step description of the process which breaks down the systems of nature and society, our false hopes, our credulity towards authority and the belief in eternal growth.”
“You cannot fail to be impressed from start to finish.” 5/5 – Brutalism
“Primed and ready to destroy with each and every song.” 10/10 – The Grim Tower
“Those who thought that Deals Death with ‘Elite’ had already reached their peak, are fundamentally wrong.” 96/100 – Ashladan

Swedish Death Metal brutes OVERTORTURE will invade Germany next week for a series of shows dubbed the “At the End the Dead Await Tour 2013.” The action kicks off on September 7th in Mannheim with FLESHCRAWL, REVELIN FLESH and RAW.
OVERTORTURE – At the End the Dead Await Tour 2013:
9/07 @ 7er Club – Mannheim, Ger. w/ Fleshcrawl, Revel In Flesh & RAW
OVERTORTURE released their debut, At the End the Dead Await, to critical acclaim in January of this year via Apostasy Records. Selections from the record and ordering information can be found at http://www.apostasyrecords.com.
Featuring veteran players from GRAVE, COLDWORKER, DEMONICAL, and INSISION, it will come as no surprise that with At the End the Dead Await OVERTORTURE has created a work of overwhelming brutality, tempered only by a penchant for melody. Self-produced by the band and mixed/mastered by Ola Englund (SIX FEET UNDER), the album is made complete with the artwork of Gustav Germann (Guger Art) who has also worked with HAIL OF BULLETS and VOMITORY. Recommended for fans of BLOODBATH, GRAVE, VOMITORY, and BOLT THROWER.
OVERTORTURE – BAND BIO:
Overtorture formed in 2011 by Magnus Martinsson, Joel Fornbrant, Fredrik Widigs and Jonas Torndal, known from bands like Grave, Coldworker, Demonical and Witchery with the mission to deliver diverse Death Metal with both melody and brutality! In March 2012 the band tapped Andreas Hemmander who’s an old friend and former band mate (Bloodride) of Magnus as second guitarist, and the line-up was finally complete. Shortly after the band signed a world-wide deal with Apostasy Records and started recording the debut album At the Endthe Dead Await.

CRITICAL PRAISE:
“Overtorture displays a lot more than most death metal bands coming out these days.” – Wicked Channel
“These dudes kill the mid-tempo death metal style, but also tear it up with some well dropped blasts. This record combines a nice mix of old school Swedish death with some new school slamming and some proper slow doom parts. The end result is a grooving piece of death metal for modern metalheads and old schoolers alike to rip to pieces.” – November 24th Spawned A Monster
“…At the End the Dead Await is worth hearing if you’re a fanatic for old bands like Grave and Seance, or more recent devotees like Feral, Mr. Death, Entrails, Corpsessed, etc.” – From the Dust Returned
Northern hyperblast kings KATAKLYSM from Canada know one thing for sure: to stay in the game you have to work hard continuously!
So these guys keep releasing awe-inspiring extreme metal albums regularly and seem to be on the road pretty much the rest of the time.
After the release of their latest studio album “Heaven’s Venom” (2010) and the massive anniversary live package “Iron will” (2012), their highly anticipated new record “Waiting for the end to come” will see the light of day on October 25, 2013 and it’s surely going to butcher the competition, once again.

KATAKLYSM guitaristJean-Francois Dagenais helmed the production of this upcoming masterpiece of brutality and melody once more, while legend Zeuss (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED and many more) took care of the mixing. The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of their new album and the cover by Peter Sallai, who is known for his artworks done for SABATON, will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.

And KATAKLYSM wouldn’t be KATAKLYSM if they hadn’t already mapped out the next tour – they`ll embark on a European headlining run in January and February 2014 which marks their first tour on the old continent in almost 3 years, so all fans better buckle-up for this full-blown Death Metal onslaught which is about to gut Europe.
“It’s been almost three years since our last club tour in Europe and we are so excited to come back and blow off the roof of every club next January & February. We’ve built an album that will stand the test time and will need many headbangers, body surfers and mosh pits to give it justice and we are building a special show that you will never forget. This time, after almost a decade we have decided to tour the UK as well, after seeing the reactions at this years Bloodstock Open Air. There’s no doubt it’s time to come destroy. Raise your pints!” – Maurizio Iacono/KATAKLYSM
Supporting them will be Brazilian Death Metal veterans KRISIUN, who are working on their new and yet untitled album. FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE are also part of the billing and pose a special treat for sure! They mix brutal tech death with symphonic, opera-like arrangements. Their third album “Labyrinth” just came out.

Dallas Death Metal battalion CLERIC will crush the weak with their disparaging debut LP, Gratum Inferno, through their local cohorts at independent waxmongers Tofu Carnage Records this fall; the label now confirming the street date for the record as September 26th.
Formed by members of Kill the Client, Baring Teeth, and Tyrannosorceress, CLERIC fuses their old-school Death Metal aggressive tendencies here into a relentless attack, which their Gratum Inferno LP attempts to capture in full-force. Recorded by Garry Brents (Kill The Client, Phobia, Noisear) and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (From Ashes Rise, Nails, Sleep), Gratum Inferno boasts nearly a half-hour of grating, Stockholm-bred but Americanized death through seven hymns of debauchery, bizarre, haunting and horror-soundtrack elements permeating from deep within its hellish core.
The platter is being pressed on 200-gram, translucent yellow wax with blood-red and milky clear splatter and features heavyweight spot-varnish printed jackets, gold foil-stamped inner-sleeve graphics, was mastered at 45rpm for superior sound quality, and bears insane cover art masterminded by JasonBarnett (Noothgrush, etc.).
Unload Gratum Inferno in its entirety at Cvlt Nation RIGHT HERE:
Stay tuned for the band’s hellfire-strewn first video to be released shortly. Additionally, CLERIC has locked down new live actions across Texas over the coming months with more being confirmed all the time. looking forward towards the turn of the year, they’ll infiltrate audiences beyond the region with more extensive tour plans… stay tuned.

“We went back to working with Ian Tilton, who is an iconic English photographer famous for working with THE STONE ROSES,” stated frontman Jeff Walker, regarding the cover artwork. “He actually did the front cover for Necroticism… as well. We’ve deliberately tried to evoke the feeling of that album and Heartwork.”
Joining guitarist Bill Steer and bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker in the band’s current incarnation are new drummer Dan Wilding (ABORTED, TRIGGER THE BLOODSHED) and guitarist Ben Ash (PIG IRON, DESOLATION, LIQUEFIED SKELETON). Floridian psychedelic noise weavers, ORBWEAVER, recently dropped their brain-fraying Strange Transmissions from the NeuralnomiconEP upon unsuspecting masses. Christened “twitchy, trippy tech death” by Invisible Oranges, the five-track Strange Transmissions from the Neuralnomicon is a harrowing, multifaceted sound voyage through modulating realities recorded at Miami’s Pinecrust Studios with Jonathan Nunez of Torche and mixed/mastered with Brian Elliot at Mana Recording Studios (Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore, Exhumed).
ORBWEAVER spiral’s through the realms of psychedelia, noise, and a warped interpretation of Death Metal. Shifting between these erratic, trance-like elements, the foursome produce cosmic pandemonium reminiscent of a Zappa-esque brand of controlled chaos. Strange Transmissions from the Neuralnomicon was released earlier this month in alimited run of 100 cassette tapes via Primitive Violence Records:
Also available on CD direct through the band. The record is also available digitally via their official BandCamp page where you can twist your cranium to Strange Transmissions from the Neuralnomicon in full. Point your browser here:
ORBWEAVER was forged n 2010 by guitarist/vocalist Randy Piro (ex-Hate Eternal, Gigan) and drummer Mike Pena. Together they recorded a self-titled, three-song demo. Shortly after, lead guitarist Sally Gates (ex-Gigan) and bassist Jason Ledgard joined the fold. Mike Pena parted ways with the group in 2013, and was replaced by drummer/percussionist ScottSpasiano.
The band will continue their stampede through the Sunshine State with another round of live takeovers. Additional shows to be announced in the coming weeks. Can’t make it to Florida? Peep the band’s new tripped out video for “Tragic Orbit: A Doomed Cosmic Star Ship” below:
“…off-the-wall structureless noise tech that borders on the type of irreverence built by instrumental group Behold The Arctopus with insane space atmospherics.” – HeavyBlogIsHeavy
“Their uniqueness is engaging, but the fortitude of it is what really grasps you. With how immense and bizarre their spacey effects are, you will find yourself dumbfounded by the intensity of it. ” – The Age Of Metal
“…deranged, psychedelic death metal hurdling through space at speeds that make The Millennium Falcon look like your little sister’s moped.” — Orlandooom.com
MASADA – Kick-ass name for a Death Metal band? Um… okay. Check. Kick-ass cover artwork for MASADA’sHideous Rot EP? Check. Kick-ass city where MASADA calls home? It’s Philadelphia and… check. Kick-ass underground Death Metal that MASADA wants to punish ALL of our Metal community’s senses with? Check.
If all you crave is underground Metal and Death Metal is your obsession, MASADA’s bludgeoning wall of sound will no doubt beat your eardrums and any brain cells that are still functioning into a pulp! My Metal brethren, this is MASADA. No smoke or dumb-ass mirrors happening on HideousRot; just backwoods, back alley and dark as hell, retro Death Metal.
Fluteotherapy sounds like MASADA kidnapped the legendary Ian Anderson and kept him in a cellar, forcing him to play his flute while surrounded by piles of dead corpses. A macabre listen it is… freaky and psychotic. MASADA came up with it and it truly creeps me out. Cool.
Suffer Mental Decay is my favorite song. A sensational song title it is. It’s brilliant with all of its repulsive vocals and horrid vibes. Very cool. ToxicUnreality when played super fucking loud is like being hit in the face with soaking and scalding hot burlap bags. Aw hell, I’ve never really been hit with soaking and scalding hot burlap; only the description befits my Metal point.
Hideous Cerebral Pulp and Exist To Rot round out this Hideous Rot EP and both songs are like the spinning back kick to your face that you didn’t see coming. Both of these songs rage in their simplicity and this entire EP rages with its middle finger pointing right at expensive production costs. Let every Death Metal garage band know that there is a beacon they can follow to the dark side and it’s the underground disturbance known as MASADA. Metal be thy name.

For all of you Metal trivia lunatics out there, I looked up the definition of MASADA and here it is:

As reported on the Facebook page of KATAKLYSM:
Set your eyes on the CD and Limited Cassette main artwork for WAITING FORTHE END TO COME from Peter Sallai!
“The album art depicts a child which represents innocence in humanity, covered in dirt and blood from life’s experiences. In front of him, his death represented by a reaper who comes to claim his soul for the afterlife, or the abyss. It’s open to the fans to decide with their own beliefs. In the end this is the transition between life & death.” – Maurizio Iacono (vocalist – KATAKLYSM)
…And below is the alternate album cover art! Read all about this cover image (below), via Nuclear Blast! Whoa!
KATAKLYSM have revealed the alternate cover art for their highly anticipated upcoming release Waiting for the End to Come. The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of their new album, which will be released on October 29th (North America) via Nuclear Blast.
The previously released cover by Peter Sallai (SABATON), will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.
“This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous KATAKLYSM ‘tribal sun’ logo. It does not represent the end of KATAKLYSM by any means; more the beginning of a new era after the end of a certain existence.”

AMON AMARTH – The ninth studio album, Deceiver Of The Gods, from Sweden’s Melodic Death Metal Kings, AMON AMARTH, was released on June 25th of this year, via Metal Blade Records. Metal victory has once again been achieved for AMON AMARTH! Solid songs, musicianship, vocals and lyrics are only just the beginning, with Deceiver Of The Gods. AMONAMARTH have quite possibly released one of their finest Metal works of their storied career.
AMON AMARTH have a catalog of stellar albums that are (rather) difficult to leap-frog, when I think of making comparisons within their discography. AMONAMARTH are undisputed Metal legends, therefore Deceiver Of The Gods (just) has to be grand. Right? It is! This new AMON AMARTH album, Deceiver Of The Gods, rages along with Melodic Death Metal majesty and is a sonic blast of what this band is so legendary for!

My favorite song on this album is Hel. Glory be to the Metal Gods, this song is impeccable! Hel has now become (quite honestly) my favorite AMON AMARTH song of all-time! Vocalist Johan Hegg and (former Candlemass) guest vocalist Messiah Marcolin compliment each other in eye-popping fashion; it’s Johan’s muscular growl meets Messiah’s falsetto.
The title track (and album opener) plus the closer Warriors Of The North are fist-pumping, headbanging and raise the horns to the sky epics! A well thought-out way of bookending the prime-rib delicacy of Metal that is Deceiver OfThe Gods. Northern Mythology is once again embraced within the themes of this new AMON AMARTH album; with the Norse God, Loke, being the current example; however, this album is not devoted entirely on this legendary figure.
AMON AMARTH continuously raises their own bar of excellence and I couldn’t be more sincere and psyched about that. I highly recommend Deceiver Of The Gods to ALL my fellow Metal brethren and consider it as a bona-fide Top Ten contender for Metal Odyssey’s year-end Best Of 2013 list.
Hod – In just under 12 minutes, the crushing, diabolical and Blackened Death Metal of Hod’s (self-released) The Uncreated Demo is an intense auditory experience! My fellow Metal brethren, Hod’s underground Metal is a necessity for your Metal stash. All three songs rage with riffs aplenty, with a rhythm section ablaze! The vocals of Vladibeer Reebs are a weapon of mass destruction! Death, Black and Extreme Metal is woven into an out-of-control firestorm on The UncreatedDemo! Metal be thy name.
Tasmanian Technical Death Metal artisansMEPHISTOPHELES will unleash theirsecond full-length, and first for genre-bending, extreme metal imprint Willowtip Records, this Fall. Titled Sounds Of The End, the vicious, ten-track offering was recorded at Red Planet Studio with Jake Long, and boasts some of the band’s most devouringly complex, intricately arranged and plainly engaging compositions to date. Sounds Of The End includes cover art by Bill Dean (Psycroptic, Iciclan, Excarnated) and a layout provided by Cock And Ball Torture drummer Sascha Pahkle.
Comments Matthew “Chalky” Chalk of the outcome: “I’ve never been happier in any of my bands over the years than I have been in MEPHISTOPHELES. What we’ve put together is the freshest, most alive, most invigorating music I’ve ever been a part of and I cannot wait to show the world that Mephistopheles are here, we’ve got something new to say and we mean business!”
