Metal News: Second Annual Decibel Magazine Tour Lineup and Dates Announced – Cannibal Corpse Headlining

Decibel Magazine Tour - 2013 - promo poster

Cannibal Corpse to release box set commemorating their 25th anniversary this March

After a bloody successful maiden voyage in 2012, Decibel Magazine is doubling down on veteran star power for their second annual national tour. This spring, the plague spreads as Decibel brings you three living legends of Death Metal and Grindcore: the preeminent gore institution Cannibal Corpse; rabble-rousing U.K. grind icons Napalm Death, and NYDM stalwarts Immolation.

While occultism permeated last spring’s inaugural dB tour—featuring exclusively European headliners in Behemoth, Watain, the Devil’s Blood and In Solitude—they looked (mostly) to North America for this year’s unholy assemblage. Three of Decibel’s favorite underground powerhouses will take on this year’s rotating opening slot: demented Bay Area death-grinders Cretin, Canadian tech-prog upstarts Beyond Creation and Beltway grind/powerviolence crushers Magrudergrind. And the time is ripe to see the new bleed into the old: three of the six artists performing are expected to have new records detonating during the tour.

Cannibal Corpse will be releasing a box set to commemorate their 25th anniversary: Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal. The box contains: all 12 full length studio albums in a 12 CD foldout case with new artwork, “Torturing and Eviscerating LIVE” on CD and LP Picture Disc recorded in Tampa, FL 2010 / Milwaukee, WI 2012, PLUS: NEW EXCLUSIVE images by VINCE LOCKE, 12″ X 12″ graphic prints of all 13 original album covers, and a 2013 Cannibal Corpse Calendar. The box will be in stores on March 16th and will be available for pre-order soon, along with the previously announced series of Cannibal Corpse picture discs, HERE.

Kicking off in May, this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour gauntlet will last a full week longer than its 2012 counterpart, spanning over 30 North American dates. Presented by Metal Blade,, Nuclear Blast, Lace Pickups, Century Media and Season of Mist, the 2013 Decibel Magazine Tour will bring together the kind of globally renowned, boundary-pushing innovators that have made it possible for the magazine to continue thriving for over 100 issues. Coming off a tour noted for Behemoth frontman Nergal’s triumphant return to the States following his battle with leukemia—which culiminated in an explosive sold-out closing gig in New York City—Decibel had no choice but to go bigger and even more badass.

“We’re psyched to be headlining this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour along with Immolation and Napalm Death,” says Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster. “This is a lineup of bands that have been a consistent part of the death/grind scene for decades, and we’re proud to be a part of it. It will be a legendary night for extreme music.”

“Do you remember the Blue Grape Merchandise catalog?” asks Decibel Editor in Chief Albert Mudrian. “How about the Hard N’ Heavy Grindcore Video Special? Or purchasing CDs in longboxes? Then this year’sDecibel Magazine Tour was aseembled for you. See you on the campaign trail for musical destruction.”

Here’s an early opportunity to score a great deal AND avoid standing in line. Twenty premium packages are available in each market that include your ticket to the show, a tour T-shirt, a tour poster, a super-exclusive “Skip the Line” pass to move you to the front when doors open, one free track, Scourge of Iron, from the forthcoming Cannibal Corpse box set, Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal (3/19), and one 10% off coupon for a purchase on The price of this package is less than you would spend on a ticket and a tour shirt at the show! More details, including ticket info, will be announced at

Cannibal Corpse’s latest release, Torture, landed the band at #38 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart upon its first week of release, making it the highest debut in Cannibal Corpse history! Torture landed at #7 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart, #4 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums chart and #32 Billboard Top Current Albums Chart. Produced by Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan, Torture continues to reap critical accolades from critics and fans around the globe and is yet another testament to Cannibal Corpse’s permanent allegiance to shrewdly arranged, pile-driving death metal madness.

The Resistance - Group Promo Pic - Logo - 2012

In celebration of the impending release of their Rise From Treason EP, Decibel Magazine offers up THE RESISTANCE’s “Face To Face.” Featuring within its ranks some of Sweden’s most esteemed musicians, THE RESISTANCE includes In Flames’ founder Jesper Strömblad on guitar alongside second guitarist Glenn Ljungström (ex-In Flames), vocalist Marco Aro (ex-The Haunted, Facedown) and drummer Chris Barkensjö (ex-Kaamos, ex-Repugnant).

Far from a “supergroup” or “side project,” THE RESISTANCE is a veritable gang embracing the musical attitude and sounds of old-school Swedish death metal and the traditional “no compromise” values of hardcore. Sea Of Tranquility calls Rise From Treason “consistently hard, driving, aggressive, fast, and angry,“ while No Clean Singing adds: “crusty, d-beat influenced, old-school death metal with hardcore vocals and extremely headbangable rhythms. I like.”

The Resistance - Rise From Treason - EP - promo cover

Rise From Treason will see North American release on January 29, 2013 via Armoury Records with a full-length to follow later this year.

In the meantime, check out “Face To Face” courtesy of Decibel Magazine at THIS LOCATION.

HULL – Issue Tour Wrap-Up Via

Posted in metal music, metal odyssey, Music, progressive metal, rock music, rock music news, sludge metal with tags , , , , , , , on May 3, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

This past March, Brooklyn-based Progressive Sludge Rock ensemble, HULL, completed a two-week tour with post-Doom troupe Batillus. The journey included gigs with some crushing bands, a near shut down due to “the aural strain” the band reportedly levied upon one unsuspecting neighborhood, running from cops, good food, guns, ATVs, some chest-caving appearances at this year’s SXSW and so much more.

Reads a snippet from their well-documented adventure: “I noticed one of the cops was coming after me. Although my first instinct was to protect the cavalry, my next instinct was to run from the possibility of going to jail and ruining our SXSW.  Next thing I knew, I was hiding out in a random garage in bumfuck Ft. Worth…”

Check out the band’s entire tour diary — which includes photos and random video footage — at Decibel Magazine’s website HERE.

HULL are gearing up to release the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed Sole Lord debut, issued via The End Records in 2009. Their sophomore full-length will be co-produced by Brett Romnes (who played drums on their pummeling Viking Funeral EP) and mixed by Billy Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Melvins, et al). Stay tuned for further details…
