HULL – Brooklyn’s Metal ambassadors known across the planet as HULL released a 7″ vinyl single (with B-Side etching and digital download card) back on February 14th of this year. The single is titled: Legend Of The Swamp Goat. This 7″ single released in limited colors, with sea-foam being an European tour exclusive. I kept playing this mighty Metal song over and over last night and came to realize: HULL’s The Legend Of The Swamp Goat shall be Stone’s Metal Pick Of The Day! Whoa.
Monstrous riffs, chunky bass, formidable drumming, powerful street-cred vocals, sludgy and doomy across this entire song, with an anthemic atmosphere of Metal sound is Legend Of The Swamp Goat. Hell, this is HULL for Metal sakes!! A true riff infested gem is this song and you can hear it and make a purchase for yourself below. Metal be thy name. – Stone
UK’s blackened Death Metal horde SIDIOUS have announced the identity of the drummer who joined the band under a veil of secrecy earlier this year when the band began work on their debut full-length. The mysterious skinsman has been revealed as Krhudd, the mastermind and sole member of COLOSUS, who released its digital-only debut, Blastem, last year on Kaotoxin Records. Other roster shifts have seen guitarist Isfeth take over vocal duties after the departure of vocalist Tom “Void” Allen.
SIDIOUS, featuring members of funeral doomsters EYE OF SOLITUDE, took the underground by storm in 2013 with their debut EP, Ascension to the Throne Ov Self. The new lineup has spent the last 12 months hard at work on their full-length debut. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by world-renowned producer Russ Russell (Dimmu Borgir, Napalm Death) at Parlour Studios and is set for release this fall on Kaotoxin Records. Ascension to the Throne Ov Self is available at the following links:
East Anglia’s monolithic Metal act, The King Is Blind, have announced that they will release their debut EP, The Deficiencies Of Man, via Mordgrimm on September 1st. It is currently streaming via UK’s Terrorizer Magazine. Listen to it here.
Featuring ex-members of Cradle of Filth, The Blood Divine, Entwined and a current member of Extreme Noise Terror, The King is Blind’s debut was recorded, produced and mixed by Tom Donovan (Telepathy, Dingus Khan) at Tom Donovan Studios, Essex (UK) and mastered by Tim Turan (Emperor, Marilyn Manson) at Turan Audio, Oxford (UK).
A lyric video, directed by Sam Scott Hunter (Motörhead), to the track “A Thousand Burning Temples” is now showing below:
The band formed in 2013 and released a demo EP in March 2014 titled Bleeding the Ascension. Shortly afterwards, on March 21st, 2014, the band performed their debut live performance in their hometown of Colchester. The event was received with great praise and shortly before that the band was announced to play the UK’s biggest Heavy Metal open air, Bloodstock Festival.
The East Anglia quartet is not stopping there. They are already confirmed to perform at Hammerfest VII in March 2015. The band’s aim is to make British Metal the intimidating force it once was and they are already recognized for that by a MetalRecusants writer: “Colossally intimidating… The King Is Blind look set to dominate the British Metal scene”.
The King is Blind are already being recognised for their work. Terrorizer Magazine described the band’s sound as “the groove of old school Death Metal… with deliciously doomy riffs for good measure”. However, as Ghost Cult Magazine notices, the band likes to keep it fresh and has a modern sound: “Drawing comparisons to Celtic Frost, but with the touch and heft of the best modern bands”.

Los Angeles Stoner Metal band BEHOLD! THE MONOLITH have announced the addition of vocalist Jordan Nalley to their ranks. Nalley joined the band following the tragic loss of bassist/vocalist Kevin McDade.
Guitarist Matt Price comments: “I met Jordan through some friends at a Mastodon show. Came to find out we had a few mutual friends and that he was a vocalist and actually did a bit of vocal coaching for the heavier styles at Musicians Institute.
I took a lesson from him and brought our CD, Defender, Redeemist. I got a call from him about a week later. He loved the album and wanted to audition. At the time our new bassist, Cas, was in Europe with Sasquatch and our drummer Chase was filling in for about a months worth of Castle’s North American tour. So we had to wait a few weeks to give it a try. But when we did it was obvious the chemistry was there. He sounds great on the old stuff, and his range is great so he’s taking the new stuff into even darker gnarlier territory! We played our first show with him and it went great! We’re pretty fucking stoked and are in full writing mode. We’re hoping to be recording in very early 2015 (we’ve been talking to Billy Anderson and he’s 100% on board).”

BEHOLD! THE MONOLITH live 5 Stars bar 07/19/2014 – New Material:
With the very sad passing of bassist Paul Gray back in 2010 and the very unexpected departure (or firing) of drummer Joey Jordison, maggots worldwide have wondered aloud if a new SLIPKNOT album would ever come to pass. If anything, it all seemed that things were uncoiling fast, towards the negative direction, in the world of SLIPKNOT. I for one, was 50/50 on whether SLIPKNOT would ever release a new studio album. There were those days when I absolutely felt they wouldn’t.
Well, maggots across the globe now realize that all hope is NOT gone, (get it?), as a new album is on the way… whenever the release date is. In the last few days, a brand new SLIPKNOT song emerged onto the SLIPKNOT website, titled: The Negative One. Maggots everywhere can listen to the song just once, however, once a maggot signs up for the SLIPKNOT email list, another listen of the song will be available. The Metal word is that a music video for this new song, The Negative One, will be released on Tuesday, August 5th; with this single becoming available via iTunes on this same day. Yes, Virgina, there is a Metal Santa Claus! It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since All Hope Is Gone was released and that album will forever be a crème de la crème Metal album for my ears and Metal senses.
As for the new song, well, I’ve only listened to it twice and tried to let each second sink into my Metal scathed brain tissue. It sounds like SLIPKNOT went back to their original album and became reacquainted with every bizarre sonic nuance and psychotic note. Corey Taylor’s vocals are 100% pissed off, with an in-your-face assault of crazed Metal; making for this new SLIPKNOT offering a brain-blast of psycho-raging Metal goodness! In other Metal words, The Negative One comes across just fine as SLIPKNOT; still it would be great to know who is really playing the bass and drums. The guessing game across the internet doesn’t do the trick for me. I’m one maggot that cannot wait for album number 5 from this (now) iconic band. Damn, when it comes right down to it, I miss the hell out of Paul Gray and Joey Jordison, by their not being a part of this band anymore. Metal be thy name. – Stone
The Netherlands / Vancouver, BC / Miami, FL / Hanover, Germany – July 30, 2014
After their farewell performance on board 70000TONS OF METAL in January 2012 we are proud to announce the band’s return!
Exactly 3 years later, they are scheduled to return to the stage more aggressive than ever! It will all begin with 70000TONS OF METAL, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, sailing to Jamaica in January 2015.
GOD DETHRONED front man, Henri Sattler, explains:
“In early 2011, I was facing two options: one was to announce a break and the other option was to quit the band. I definitely needed time away from it all, and having a break wasn’t reassuring enough to know if I would be able to recharge the batteries for another go.”
“Oddly enough it was at the funeral of the man who discovered us in the first place that I came to realize the story wasn’t finished yet. So here we go again. Don’t think you will be able to see us playing every club for weekends on end. We will only play a small selection of shows and this won’t happen before 2015. Besides that, the core of the band will consist of only Michiel and myself. We’ll have some cool guest musicians lined up, though, to make sure we’ll give you the best performance possible.
Last but not least, our first shows will be where we played our last ones three years ago. Our rebirth will happen on board 70000TONS OF METAL 2015. See you on board!”
70000TONS OF METAL, The Original, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise has already confirmed: Alestorm, Annihilator, Apocalyptica, Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Blind Guardian, Cannibal Corpse, Chimaira, D.A.D., Ensiferum, Equilibrium, God Dethroned, Grave Digger, Heathen, In Extremo, Kataklysm, Korpiklaani, Lake Of Tears, Michael Schenker’s Temple Of Rock, Napalm Death, Origin, Primal Fear, Tank, Therion, Threshold, Triosphere and Xentrix, with 33 more to come!
70000TONS OF METAL, The World’s Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise, will sail Thursday, January 22, 2015 aboard the Royal Caribbean “Liberty Of The Seas” from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale near Miami, FL and will not return to the real world until Monday, January 26, 2015.
Ticket prices start at US $666 plus US $333 taxes and fees per person and include all on-board entertainment, non-alcoholic and non-carbonated beverages, all meals in the dining rooms, most on-board restaurants and even 24 hour room service!
In celebration of an astounding thirty-year career, SEPULTURA, who stands among Brazil’s most successful bands ever, will unleash a new live offering entitled Sepultura And Les Tambours du Bronx: Metal Veins – Alive At Rock In Rio.
In a spectacular performance that finds SEPULTURA accompanied throughout by the French industrial percussion group Les Tambours du Bronx, notorious for beating 225-liter barrels with beech wood bats or even axe handles, the show was recorded from the band’s main stage appearance at the legendary Rock In Rio gala in 2013. Featuring SEPULTURA‘s most revered tunes including “Refuse/Resist,” “Territory” and “Roots Bloody Roots,” which sees the audience chanting the entire cut from beginning to end, the sheer volume of sound, percussive enormity and powerful presentation sets this release apart from any previous SEPULTURA concert offering to date.
With a one-hour run time divided into thirteen cuts, the album also features a cover of Prodigy’s “Firestarter,” the fan-chanted “Sepulnation,” and music from the band’s Kairos full-length. Metal Veins – Alive At Rock In Rio will come available on CD, DVD and for the first time in the band’s history, Blu-Ray via a partnership with Rock In Rio, MZA Music and Eagle Rock Entertainment. In addition, the DVD includes an exclusive documentary of behind-the-scenes preparation with interviews, rehearsal and sound-check footage and clips of the band just seconds before they hit the stage.
Sepultura And Les Tambours du Bronx: Metal Veins – Alive At Rock In Rio will be released in North America via Eagle Rock Entertainment on September 16th, 2014.

Edmonton, AB’s Death Metal crusaders KRYOSPHERE are proud to announce their ‘West Koast Katastrophe Tour’ that will kick off in Nelson, BC on September 18 at Kootenay Coop Radio for in studio performance and interview on the Nelson On Nelson show and wrap up in Edmonton, AB on September 28th.
“We have been waiting a while now to get out to the West coast, and we are stoked to be getting all the way to Vancouver Island for two dates. With all the festivals we have played this summer so far, it will be nice to seal the deal so to speak and do it night after night for different crowds. In Vancouver we get to play a one-night special with ENTROPIA, which is going to be a hell of an introduction to the Vancouver metal scene. I mean for Brent our drummer, this will be a long time coming return to the big water, but the first for KRYOSPHERE. Also a big shout out to Terry Anderson of RTK for making this all a possibility, we wouldn’t be headed out if it wasn’t for his dedication. Support your local Metal scenes!” comments bassist Stephanie Bell.
TOUR PROMO VIDEO:
Maintaining a strong connection with the roots of old-school Death Metal, KROYOSPHERE, established in 2008, by drummer Brent Bell (ex-Spawned by Rot, ex-Butcher’d), Stephanie Bell on bass, Dave Waram on guitar, and Davis Hay on vocals have released two EPs, 2013’s ‘SOL’ and 2011 debut ‘At Six Feet’ with a follow-up in the works for late 2014 / early 2015. Combining memorable riffs, soaring solos, powerful vocals plus thumping bass drives to inventive and technical drumming, KRYOSPHERE has been able to draw crowds of Metal fans with hails horns high. The band has shared the stage with Putrescence, Dead Jesus, Unleash The Archers, West of Hell, Archspire and many more from the Western Canadian Metal scene.
Kryosphere at its core has always maintained strong connections with an old-school Death Metal sound, while embracing the new ideas of their younger peers. In short, they are a Modern Death Metal band that knows how to draw a crowd across the massive gulf of Metal fans.
Formed in 2008 by drummer Brent Bell (ex-Spawned by Rot, ex-Butcher’d) with line changes through its early years, Kryosphere finally solidified an identity with Brent Bell on drums, Stephanie Bell on bass, Dave Waram on guitar, and Davis Hay on vocals. Their debut EP “At Six Feet” was unleashed in 2011 and followed by their 2013 self-release EP “SOL”.
Great attention has been placed on song writing, and it shows on. The uniquely structured music of “SOL” has memorable riffs that are often lacking in today’s Metal. Soaring solos and powerful vocals accompany thick bang along sections, while thumping bass drives the overall feeling of every song. Inventive and technical drumming steer the band through multiple time changes and differing movements.
It’s summer time and there’s nothing better to do than join Toronto, ON’s badass street punks The Rough Boys and their ‘Blood, Booze and Gasoline’ EP, released on July 22nd and is available for $6.66 dollars at their following Bandcamp:
“Alright fuckers here it is…after months of brutal waiting…here’s the Blood, Booze and Gasoline EP for ya…thx to everyone involved. Enjoy…Play LOUD.” Comments vocalist/bassist Tom Gervais.
Track Listing: The Rough Boys – Blood, Booze and Gasoline
1. Before The Devil Knows I’m Dead (2:27)
2. Hogtown (3:57)
3. Blood, Booze and Gasoline (3:05)
4. May Two Four (3:11)
Total Time: 12:42
Taking their name from a Neil Young lyric – ‘All those rough boys, playin’ that rock and roll’, this four track ripper full of aggression and emotion is the follow-up to 2012′s Speed and 2011′s Spithead, sure to leave you in both shock and awe while forcing you to press ‘Play’ again and again. Sharing the stage with bands like Cauldron, Fuck The Facts, Axxion, Midnight Malice, Adrenechrome, Saigon Hookers to name a few, THE ROUGH BOYS don’t hold back on their brass knuckle punch to the face and showing fans a rocking booze fueled good time.
As the lineage of NEUROSIS nears its thirty-year mark, the band continues to perform across the planet sporadically but steadily, not having toured this heavily since the earlier years of their career, in seemingly unending support of their 2012-released tenth studio LP, Honor Found In Decay.

The second installment of the gathering, set to run from October 23rd through 26th in Austin, Texas, will see NEUROSIS joining the lineup of bands which also includes Decapitated, Lustmord, Danzig, Samhain, Eyehategod, Vader and a rash of others. The Housecore Horror Fest performance falls directly in line with NEUROSIS‘ set at the four-day Southwest Terror Fest III: The Western Front, where they’ll headline the main stage on Saturday, October 18th, joined by The Body, Author & Punisher and Sorxe, followed by a concert in Denver the following evening, Sunday, October 19th, with Subrosa and In The Company Of Serpents supporting.
Preceding their upcoming US live actions, and following their most recent European run which included sets at Graspop and Tuska Open Air festivals, on the first week of August, NEUROSIS prepares to venture into Australia for the first time ever in just over two weeks on a six-city trek through Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney between July 4th and 9th, with two shows scheduled in Sydney.

NEUROSIS has become an institution of heavy music. From their beginnings as a hardcore punk band in the mid-’80s to their gradual evolution into a transcendent and genre-defying collective, the Oakland, California natives have broken ground at every turn, pioneering a sound that influenced heavyweights like Isis, Mastodon and High on Fire.
Ohio’s Dismemberment are pleased to announce several shows that will take place over the summer and fall of 2014. The shows are in support of their acclaimed album Embrace the Dark which was recently released on CD and cassette. The album can be streamed in full at this location.

German Death maniacs DESERTED FEAR have entered Thuringian Eisensound Studio in Eisenberg, Germany to begin work on their new, as-of-yet untitled album.
The band comments: “It´s getting loud again in Eisensound studio! After over two years of abstinence from the studio, that we spent with playing a lot of great live shows, we are now returning to record a new record. The new album will once again contain nine neck-breaking death metal songs as well as a cool guest feature, which we will announce later. The drums are nailed down already and now we will do the guitars. Stay tuned people, we are really looking forward to present this to you!”
DESERTED FEAR are considered one of Germany´s premier young Death Metal bands. The band’s 2012 debut, My Empire, earned acclaim from both fans and critics worldwide.
DESERTED FEAR:
Manuel Glatter – Vocals, Guitar
Fabian Hildebrandt – Guitar, Bass
Simon Mengs – Drums
Albrecht “Albi” Probst – Live Bass
Praise For My Empire:
“Simply amazing how much hit-potential you can find on this album, from the first song to the last. If one can even speak about this in terms of death metal. Great start!”
– RockHard
“Clearly one of the Death Metal highlights in 2012, maybe even THE Death Metal highlight!” – Metal.de
“There’s also a great technical potential coming up with this young band, that created more than a decent result with ‘My Empire.’ You need to keep an eye on those guys. Huge respect!” – Legacy.de
LONDON, July 1, 2014 – Electric Wizard have announced Time to Die as the title of their forthcoming studio album. Time to Die is the eighth full-length offering from the masters of aural punishment and is testament to the fact that Electric Wizard continue to be the most uncompromisingly heavy, genuinely twisted and evil band in the world.
This will be the band’s first album release since signing a worldwide deal with Spinefarm Records.
Says Electric Wizard founding member, Jus Oborn:
“All of our albums in the past have had a theme; revenge, drugs, black magic and the theme of this one is death. Of course, death to us really means rebirth, so this album is a manifestation of a very primal occult belief in the final sacrifice. We have gone full circle, it was inevitable but we had to do it. We had to kill the band so we could be reborn. It was the only way to ensure we could come back even stronger.”
The artwork, once again created by Oborn, is an extension of that theme; this is further solidified by the LP gatefold image, which will be revealed soon.
Electric Wizard, having just played Hellfest in France, have the following festival appearances lined up for 2014, with more shows to be added:
July 3 – Roskilde, Denmark @ Roskilde Festival (Arena Stage)
July 4 – Knebworth Park, UK @ Sonisphere (Stage headline)
August 16 – London, UK @ Jabberwocky (The Excel Centre)
September 12 – Valada, Portugal @ Reverence Valada (headline w/Hawkwind)

Earlier this week, DENVER BLACK SKY – set to take place August 2nd and 3rd at the Gothic Theatre and Moe’s BBQ – revealed on their official Facebook page plans to extend the lineup of their two-day, three-stage event with three additional acts. Wild speculation began almost immediately with fans throwing out the names of bands they dreamed to see and now the secret is out.

Also making their way to the ceremony of chaos is Los Angeles powerviolence troupe Maladjusted whose female-empowered, vegan hardcore will only add more punk angst to an already crusty Sunday.
